Previously, Rodgers stated he would look forward to rejoining the Jets as a quarterback.
Caleb Williams, the frontrunner for the No. 1 pick in next month’s NFL Draft, has faced a wave of hate after comparing himself to Aaron Rodgers. Williams had made the comparison, namely about his height and weight, at the NFL Combine. However, haters online quickly jumped on him to manipulate his comments. “I compare myself to Aaron Rodgers off the field. I’m a selfish, cocky pr-ck just like him. On the field, I’m like Zach Wilson. I play really well vs poor competition but struggle vs good defenses like Notre Dame,” one wrote X account labeled as a Justin Fields fan account.
Chicago currently holds the first overall pick. However, pundits are split on what the team will do with it. Some believe Chicago will draft Williams, others believe they will keep the aforementioned Fields and build around him. However, there are also those who still see Chicago as going the Philly route and trading back to acquire draft capital. However, the potential to move on from Fields has already soured many fans against Williams.
Furthermore, speaking of Aaron Rodgers, it is expected that he will have a new backup in New York next season. The Jets have granted embattled QB Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade. It’s a move that has been expected since the team owner said that the team “didn’t have a backup quarterback” last season. The team will work closely with Wilson’s agent to try and move the former second-overall pick. It is widely expected that Wilson, who has never settled in the NFL, will garner a late-round pick at most.
However, the Jets are eager to find a quality backup for Aaron Rodgers. “We’re still really early in the offseason, especially when it comes to the veteran backup landscape and market. We’ve had good meetings and good evaluations with the guys that are available, and I think we’re ready to take the next step and see where the market is exactly with these backup quarterbacks,” GM Joe Douglas said this week.

However, he did have a few words for the host that better clarified his stance on the 56-year-old’s alleged connection to Epstein. “I was referring to the fact that if there’s a list,” Rodgers said on a new episode of The Pat McAfee Show, “and there are names on it, that it’d be the second time a soft-brained, junior college wacko… Whatever other things have been said by him and other people in the media – would be right twice.”
“I totally understand how serious an allegation of pedophilia would be… I’m not [ignorant] enough to accuse you of that with zero evidence,” the California native continued before throwing in a few digs at Kimmel’s intelligence. He later compared himself to Martin Luther King Jr. through his efforts to push back against the NFL’s regulations surrounding COVID-19.

We’re sure that Jimmy Kimmel hoped that he’d be able to ease into the new year but his first tweet of 2024 came in the form of a response to Rodgers. Due to the weight of Rodgers’s comments, Kimmel stated that he wouldn’t shy away from taking legal action if he continued. “Dear A—hole: for the record, I’ve not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any ‘list’ other than the clearly-phony nonsense that soft-brained wackos like yourself can’t seem to distinguish from reality,” Kimmel tweeted. “Your reckless words put my family in danger. While we could imagine that Rodgers plans to remain mum on the topic, Pat McAfee came through with an apology for Jimmy Kimmel. During his monologue on Wednesday’s episode, he acknowledged the harm that came with Rodgers’ statements. “Some things obviously people get very pissed off about, especially when they’re that serious allegations,” McAfee said. “So we apologize for being a part of it. I can’t wait to hear what Aaron [Rodgers] has to say about it. Hopefully those two will just be able to settle this, you know, not work wise but be able to chit chat and move along.”

Jimmy Kimmel and Aaron Rodgers have never been on good terms. Rodgers’ anti-vax stance, as well as his views on things such as UFOs, have previously been a source of mockery on Kimmel’s late-night show. In March 2023, Kimmel called Rodgers a “Green Bay Whack Packer” after Rodgers suggested that the recent declassifying of UFO-related documents was an attempt to distract people from the potential of the “Epstein List”. Despite this, their feud has never been as serious as it is now.
However, the issue also creates a major headache for Disney. Rodgers made his comments on ESPN. What’s more, while ESPN does not pay Rodgers to appear, Pat McAfee, an ESPN employee, does pay Rodgers an appearance fee. Meanwhile, Kimmel’s late-night show airs on ABC. Both ABC and ESPN are Disney subsidiaries, creating an in-house nightmare now that the two broadcasters are seemingly butting heads. As mentioned, the Jets are now officially eliminated from playoff contention, which had been Rodgers’ primary condition for returning. However, Rodgers’ return depends on whether the Jets can still make the playoffs. “I don’t think that would make a ton of sense. A comeback this year before the four-month mark would mean I’m not 100 percent healthy, so it’d be a risk for myself. This would take place during Week 16 which means there would be three games left in the season. Moreover, this match is against the Washington Commanders. Overall, it is up to the coaches as to whether he will step on that field. One has to figure the team will throw him out there if they believe there is a chance they make the playoffs.
