Young Dolph Lives It Up In Luxury For His New “Hashtag” Video

After hitting us with the impressive joint project Dum and Dummer 2 back in March, Young Dolph and Key Glock are still giving the LP the love it deserves by releasing new singles and visuals. The latest one is for a solo track by Dolph titled “Hashtag,” and he shows the world a preview of how he might’ve been getting through this pandemic over the past year and a half.

To say that Dolph is living in the lap of luxury in his video for “Hashtag” would be an understatement, particularly when you peep his quarantine bae featured throughout. Shot entirely from the view of a penthouse suite, the visuals are what dreams are made of — well, that is if your dream is to be a platinum-selling emcee with a stacked-up shorty waiting for you in the President’s Suite on the top floor of [Enter Luxury Hotel Line Here]. Did we make our point, or did you need a more detailed analogy?

Dum and Dummer 2, which a lot of you gave the coveted “VERY HOTTTTT” rating back when it dropped, is a solid effort that revives the same rap syergy that Glock & Dolph cooked up on the first Dum & Dummer back in 2019. Over the span of 20 tracks, both emcees take turns killing it on tracks, both as solo rappers and as a unit, and the results are definitely worthy of a few spins. If they keep dropping videos like this one, they might just be rocking off this project for the rest of summer 2021.

Watch the music video for “Hashtag” by Young Dolph above, and make sure to go stream the joint LP Dum and Dummer 2 right now on your preferred music streaming service. As always, let us know how you feel about both the video and album down below in the comments section:

Isaiah Rashad Announces Album Release Month

At long last, the time has come. Isaiah Rashad is dropping his brand new album, his first since The Sun’s Tirade released in 2016. Though it has certainly been a wild ride, with some fans genuinely wondering as to whether the project would ever see the light of day, it would appear that a rollout is officially underway. Possibly as soon as tomorrow, in fact, as Rashad is rumored to be delivering the lead single of the upcoming album The House Is Burning.

In tandem with the big kick-off, which was originally teased by Rashad’s label TDE at the beginning of May, The FADER covered Rashad with an extensive and informative profile penned by Jeff Weiss. Confirming that the album is currently scheduled for a June release, Weiss notes a potential thematic throughline, citing several of Rashad’s musings on mortality. A telling section arrives when Weiss asks Rashad if he thinks often about death, to which the rapper replies: I used to, but not so much anymore. I’m kinda okay with it, as long as it don’t hurt.”

Musically, Weiss notes that the project evokes similarities to Dilla’s work, revealing that the album’s opening track is titled “Darkseid.” It’s also confirmed that Kenny Beats, who Rashad fondly credits as his “rap coach,” is contributing two beats to the project. As the piece reveals, Rashad compiled the final tracklist from a vault of sixty tracks, noting that many of his personal favorites were ultimately cut from the “up-tempo” project.

Given the scope of the cover story, there’s certainly much to unpack throughout — in fact, it’s a truly compelling and brilliantly penned read, one worth checking in full for any fan of hip-hop journalism. Do so right here via The FADER, and be sure to keep a watchful eye to see if Rashad’s heavily-rumored new single indeed drops tonight at midnight.

G Herbo Could Take Plea Deal In Fraud Case: Report

G Herbo might be considering a plea deal in his ongoing fraud case after he was charged for allegedly lying to the FBI and Secret Service about his relationship with one of his co-defendants. The rapper told the feds that he had not previously worked with alleged ringleader Antonio Strong, which was proven to be false during their investigation. The charge was added to his existing case.

As we previously reported, G Herbo was indicted on new charges this week for lying to the FBI. He claimed that he had no relationship with Strong, but it was revealed that he has been close to his co-defendant since 2016, lending him money on multiple occasions. He also received private jet charters, exotic car rentals, and more from Strong.

According to legal documents obtained by All Hip Hop, G Herbo may already be discussing a possible plea deal. “The parties have engaged in preliminary plea negotiations, but it is premature to determine whether this case will be resolved with guilty plea(s),” said attorney Andrew E. Lelling in the paperwork.

A decision is expected to have been made regarding a possible plea deal before August 2021.

We will keep you updated as more information is released regarding G Herbo’s charges.

Kim Kardashian Denies Purchasing Illegally Imported Ancient Roman Statue

A sculpture from Ancient Rome mysteriously arrived at the largest port in the United States in Los Angeles, back in June of 2016. Upon inspection, it was found that the statue, which was imported alongside 40 other items and valued at over $745,000, did not contain proper documentation. What’s more, the importer listed on the container was none other than Kim Kardashian.

The statue was reportedly a “classical Peplophoros style (early to mid-Roman Empire), which represents a copy of an original Greek sculpture,” according to an Italian archaeologist. Its distinct appearance makes it easily recognizable as an important artifact, standing out compared to the antiques and decorations said to also be in the container, according to the port’s data. After concerned customs officials alerted authorities about their suspicions, the statue was taken into federal possession in 2016, CNN reported. Officials then began to trace the statue’s origins from the alleged Kardashian importer, all the way back to Italy, running into many dead ends.

The only other clue was Axel Vervoordt, a famous art dealer who was listed as one of the shippers alongside Kardashian. The two worked together in the past when he decorated Kim and Kanye’s colossal California home. A photograph taken in 2011 shows the statue being displayed for sale at Vervoordt’s booth at the renowned European Art Fair. His representative told CNN,

“There is no evidence that this piece was illegally imported from Italy. Our client, as well as our gallery and the gallery from whom we’ve bought the piece, have always acted in good faith when dealing with the work.”

Last Friday, official court documents were filed on the matter, closing an incident that began over five years ago.

According to the official court filing obtained by CNN, a part of Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage requested “that all efforts be made for the return of the defendant statue to Italy in accordance with the bilateral agreement between Italy and the United States” stating nothing about legal consequences for the partners in crime at this time. And, without direct evidence of how the artifact was illegally imported, no further action can be taken in the case.

Kardashian’s representative claims the statue was purchased wrongfully under her name because “this is the first that she has learned of its existence”in a public statement. “We believe that it may have been purchased using her name without authorization and because it was never received (and) she was unaware of the transaction,” the representative said.

OZUNA Returns With New Single “Tiempo”

Latin pop superstar Ozuna has officially returned with his brand new single “Tiempo,” which arrives right in time for the summer months. Off the bat, it’s clear that this one has legs, and Ozuna makes it look easy as he takes to the rhythmic instrumental. Fueled by a percussive beat and a melodic synth loop, Ozuna’s cadence blends nicely as he delivers rapid-fire vocals.

Giving the track additional life is a crisp music video directed by Fernando Lugo, in which Ozuna navigates surreal landscapes both on land and underwater. “Me puse a dedicarte tiempo, tiempo del que yo había perdido,” he sings. “Amores como el tuyo no lo entiendo.” It’s a promising sign that Ozuna isn’t quite finished dropping new music this year, following the release of his Anuel AA-assisted collaborative album Los Dioses; check that one out right here.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Me puse a dedicarte tiempo
Tiempo del que yo había perdido
Amores como el tuyo no lo entiendo
Estoy solo y ahora eso es un lío
Porque salgo pa’ la pista pal party

Isaiah Rashad Once Wrecked Top Dawg’s Car But Got It Fixed Before He Found Out

TDE rapper Isaiah Rashad is set to return soon after a nearly five-year absence from the spotlight that began after his 2017 tour for The Sun’s Tirade and only sporadic appearances since. He’s bringing with him a new album, The House Is Burning, as well as a new outlook courtesy of a stint at a rehab facility and a bout with COVID. As he reveals in a new cover story for The Fader, his alcoholism was at one point so bad that he not only wrecked his own car, but he also wrecked his benefactor, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith’s, as well.

Although story author Jeff Weiss doesn’t go into details, Isaiah explains that his drinking problem, which he openly copped to while promoting The Sun’s Tirade, nearly got him arrested boarding a flight, caused him to wreck his Jeep, and sent him back home to Chattanooga after he spent nearly all of his rap money buying expensive clothes, supporting family and friends, and buying “really expensive sandwiches.” But through it all, the TDE CEO patiently stuck it out with his mercurial second-wave signing, even after Zay wrecked his Honda — but that might be because the rapper paid to have it fixed before his label boss could find out.

Eventually, though, he came clean, which resulted in a stay at Dana Point Rehab facility, where he learned to cope and secretly signed autographs for the staff members’ kids. Now, he’s back on track for another run at rap superstardom, with The House Is Burning set for release any day — although fans are convinced it’s this Friday after Top Dawg tweeted out “the wait is over” with that release date.

Childish Gambino Has Reportedly Been Hit With A Copyright Lawsuit For ‘This Is America’

Childish Gambino‘s “This Is America” was one of the most talked about videos of 2018. It has over 772 million views to date and as most famous musicians would agree, a song is bound to get hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit once it becomes popular enough. “This Is America” is apparently no different. After previously facing plagiarism claims about his video, Childish Gambino is reportedly being sued over the song.

According to TMZ, Emelike Nwosuocha, who raps under the moniker Kidd West, is the source of the “This Is America” copyright lawsuit. Per the report, Nwosuocha uploaded his song “Made In America” to SoundCloud in 2016 before registering it with the US Copyright Office in May of 2017.

Nwosuocha is now claiming Childish Gambino ripped him off, saying the hook of “This Is America” is “unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical” to his own track. Gambino’s track features the lines, “This is America/ Guns in my area/ I got the strap/ I gotta carry ’em.” But Nwosuocha says Gambino’s lyrics are strikingly similar to his own, “Made in America/ Flex on the radio/ Made me a terrorist/ Pessimistic n***as/ You should just cherish this.”

As a result, Nwosuocha is reportedly suing Gambino, the co-writers of “This is America,” the record label, Roc Nation, and even Young Thug who is credited for singing the backup vocals on the track.

Blvc Svnd Showcases Multiple Talents In HIs ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Of ‘U Foine’

In this week’s episode of UPROXX Sessions, genre-bending LA artist Blvc Svnd (pronounced “Black Sand”) pulls a neat trick, strumming out his backing music on his electric guitar as he raps the raunchy, melody lyrics to “U Foine.” His wardrobe is pretty eye-catching as well; with his blue hair, pink spotted fur coat, and lime green aloha shirt, he’d be hard to miss in a crowd. All the elements combine to perform a quirky, unexpected performance that refuses to constrain itself to one vision of what music should sound like or what artists should look like.

Hailing from Los Angeles and spending extensive time in the Bay Area, the 22-year-old Blvc Svnd may not be on many radars, but he’s working hard to change that. He’s released over a dozen self-produced mixtapes and EPs beginning with 2015’s Nag Champa, pushing out the majority of his music on SoundCloud, much like rock-rap forebearers such as Juice WRLD and fellow Sessions guest Kamiyada. He also plays all the instruments on many of his projects himself, including bass, drums, and piano, while genre-hopping between electronic, pop, R&B, rap, and even metal.

UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on.
