Hopsin Returns With “BE11A CIAO”

When it comes to the bars and flow, Hopsin has earned the respect of his fans and peers alike. Today, he comes through with another new single further validating his prowess in those departments. “BE11A CIAO” arrives complete with an elaborate video, one that finds a masked-up Hop engaging in armed robbery and having a grand ol’ time in the process.

Lyrically, the track finds Hop flexing over a self-produced anthem, delivering violent braggadocio. “Lane on my own, the label is cold, we raking in gold, I’m labeled the G.O.A.T,” he spits, a dexterous array of multis. “You borrow my style and can’t even pay off the loan, you phony, you fake, you a clone, I’m ape with the flow.” Clocking in at a little over four minutes — twice the runtime of today’s average single — there’s plenty of Hopsin lyricism for fans to unpack — check out “BE11LA CIAO” for yourself now, and sound off in the comments below.

Lane on my own, the label is cold, we raking in gold, I’m labeled the G.O.A.T
You borrow my style and can’t even pay off the loan,
You phony, you fake, you a clone, I’m ape with the flow
You think you the greatest but no, put down the cocaine and patron
I aim for your dome, paw, I’m digging your grave, there’s no other way it can go

Khleo Thomas Compares His 2010 Song “In My Soul” To Nicki Minaj’s “Seeing Green”

Following the re-release of Nicki Minaj’s Beam Me Up Scotty, Hip-Hop fans have been losing their minds over the classic mixtape’s new bonus cut “Seeing Green.” Featuring Lil Wayne and Drake, “Seeing Green” feels like a vintage Young Money cut, and the song finds all three of the iconic artists dishing out impressive verses over a hard-hitting beat that samples Heather Headley’s “In My Mind.”

However, it turns out that the Heather Headley sample featured on Nicki Minaj’s new track has long been extremely popular amongst Hip-Hop producers. In addition to being the foundational core of Trizzy Track’s viral “Van Vibes” beat freestyle, artists like Jeezy have also rapper over similar beats.

Apparently, even Holes actor and former rapper Khleo Thomas previously bodied a track that sampled Heather Headley’s “In My Mind.” Taking to Twitter to joke about the similarities between his 2010 song “In My Soul” and “Seeing Green.” Interestingly enough, there is also another overlap between the two artists’ records. Around the one-minute mark of “In My Soul,” Khleo raps, “It’s like we looking through an emerald, so all we see is green,” which is ironic considering the title of Nicki’s new song and the lyrical motif that appears in each of the Young Money artists’ verses.

During her verse, Nicki Minaj notably references the title of the song by saying, “Ain’t no C in green, but I’m seein’ green.” Furthermore, Lil Wayne toys with the recurring theme by rhyming, “That cash blue, but I’m still seein’ green,” and Drake also raps, “Thought I was seein’ things when I was seein’ green.”

Everything considered, however, Khleo Thomas doesn’t seem to have any malicious intent in comparing “Seeing Green” to “In My Soul.” “I’m just happy new Nicki music is out,” Khleo says in the previously mentioned tweet, echoing a sentiment that much of the Hip-Hop community has also already expressed.

Having heard both Khleo Thomas’ 2010 track and the Young Money team-up on “Seeing Green,” do you think that this is all just one big coincidence, or did Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne pull inspiration from “In My Soul?”

Young Thug Explains Why He Compared Himself To Jay-Z: ‘I Got Just As Many Hits’

Late last year, when Young Thug was asked whether he’d participate in a Verzuz hits battle, the genre-bending Atlanta rapper’s answer caused a minor dustup on social media because of his controversial inclusion of one of rap’s biggest names in the response. “It would probably have to be like [Lil Wayne],” he said at the time. “… Jay-Z ain’t got 30 songs like that.”

While some fans thought that Thug’s mention of Jay-Z was disrespectful, Thug later explained on his Instagram that he wasn’t trying to diss Jay, he was just “talking too fast.” Today, he returned to the scene of the faux pas, the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, to further elaborate on his original comments and set the record straight with regard to where he stands on Jay-Z’s legacy.

Host Gillie Da Kid tees him up saying, “You were basically saying you got a lot of f*ckin’ records,” to which Thug replies, “That’s all I was saying, I just used his name because he the biggest n**** in the world to me. I just used his name, to let the world know, ‘Yo, I got just as many hits as the biggest n**** in the world.’ I’m doing two hours on stage. I don’t remember my last hour show… and I don’t do too much talking.”

Still, it might be interesting to see how the two fanbases would react to a Verzuz-style battle. Obviously, both have more than enough hit records to go back-and-forth, but the generation gap and difference in their styles could generate some fun debate among hip-hop heads, possibly even bringing them together across the regional and generational splits that have prompted so much of hip-hop’s friction over the years. However, it might be more productive for the two to collaborate on a new hit record that brings them together instead of forcing them to compete.

Sada Baby, Big Sean, & Hit-Boy Have Some Fun On “Little While”

Sada Baby, Big Sean, and Hit-Boy have reunited for the first time since linking up on the epic “Friday Night Cypher,” with Sada officially firing off his new single “Little While.” Set to be included on his forthcoming album, which features confirmed appearances from Murda Beatz, Hit-Boy (who laced up to thirty songs for the Detroit rapper), Snoop Dogg, and Wiz Khalifa, the single finds Sada looking to deliver some “intentionally fun music” for the first time since “Whole Lotta Choppas.”

On that note, “Little While” features an uptempo and percussive Hit-Boy instrumental, the perfect backdrop for Sada and Sean alike to get a little mischievous with the flow and lyrical content. “Sean was there one day while I was recording,” reflects Sada, speaking about the song’s creation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “I wanted him to hear a “Little While” and I let him hear it. And he never stopped asking me about the song to the point to the point to where he was just like, I’m going to put a verse on it.”

Check out their handiwork, the first single off Sada’s upcoming body of work, and sound off if you appreciate the chemistry these two Detroit rappers continue to exhibit.

Snoop Dogg’s Daughter On Her Depression: “At 13, I Was Ready To Die”

Cori Broadus may have a famous father but that doesn’t mean she’s had an easy life. The 21-year-old musician is the daughter of Snoop Dogg and over the years, she’s been open about her personal struggles with her mental health. This weekend, she revealed to her followers that she tried to take her own life recently

The youngest child of Snoop and his wife Shante, Cori explained that she has always been teased because of her looks. After her story generated a lot of attention on social media, she followed up with more details, revealing in a video that she had suicidal thoughts as early as thirteen years old.

“People just always talk about me, ‘You’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re dark, you’re this, you’re that.’ And I used to cry. At thirteen, I was ready to die,” she said in a vulnerable video. “Just so sad, crying to my mom like, ‘I’m so ugly, why did you have me? Why do I look like this? Why don’t I look like my brothers?’ It was just so many why why why’s. Just because you have money and just because you’re able to do certain things that other people can’t do, that doesn’t mean you don’t have a heart, a mind, a soul. I go through it just like everybody else. It don’t matter cause my dad is rich, I drive a Toyota Corolla and I am content. My dad bought me that car and I’m not gonna lie, at first, I was like, ‘Hm… a Toyota Corolla?’ You just learn to appreciate stuff because, at the end of the day, this stuff don’t matter.”

Rick Ross Shows Love To His Buddy Jay Leno

Rick Ross recently chopped it up with his good buddy Jay Leno, taking the trip down to Burbank to check out the late-night legend’s incredible garage. Based on the footage he uploaded to his Instagram page, Renzel appeared particularly taken with Leno’s F1 McLaren, valued at the staggering price of $15 million.

As it happens, Ross will be showcasing his own prized vehicular possession, the ’57 Renzel, during an upcoming episode of Leno’s Garage. “I got to ride thru Cali hills top down, windows up talking classic rides with the Legend today,” captioned Ross, alongside a BTS picture of their link-up. “Cool shit huh..episode coming stay tuned!!!”

Today, Rozay took a moment to double down on his Jay Leno bromance, once again taking to Instagram to show some love to his fellow automobile aficionado, sharing a bit of entrepreneurial advice in the process. “We both collect cars,” captions Rozay, alongside a picture of the unexpected pals. “We both love @officialbelaire …BELAIRE BLEU hand-delivered to my dear friend Jay Leno @jaylenosgarage. the power of networking and building new relationships is priceless.”

It’s unclear as to whether Leno and Renzel shared a drink following their recent link-up, but we can assume that at least some Belaire Bleu was consumed by the two heavyweight moguls. It should be interesting to see their dynamic in action when Leno’s Garage eventually airs. Check back for more news on that front, and stay tuned for Rozay’s upcoming studio album Richer Than I’ve Ever Been — the question is, will Leno come through to lay down a skit or two?
