Tory Lanez’s Rolling Loud Appearance May Have Violated Megan Thee Stallion’s Restraining Order Against Him

Tory Lanez’s surprise appearance at Rolling Loud during DaBaby’s set angered fans and became one of many of that set’s controversial talking, but it may have also violated Megan Thee Stallion’s restraining order against the Canadian rapper. TMZ reports that the Miami and Los Angeles Police Departments were contacted after the set due to the fact that Tory’s presence backstage may have put him within 100 yards of the Houston rapper who accused him of shooting her in the backs of both feet last summer.

As DaBaby performed immediately after Megan, there may have been some overlap between the technical crews, backup dancers, and other stage personnel — and that might have included Tory Lanez, who DaBaby brought out in a mascot costume before a dramatic reveal to perform their collaboration “SKAT.” Meanwhile, TMZ’s sources report that Megan and her management were perturbed to learn that DaBaby performed one of his collaborations with Meg, “Cash Sh*t,” right before bringing out Lanez. Many fans interpreted the move as belittling her criminal case against Tory and provoking her due to her disapproval of DaBaby’s public shows of support for Tory in the wake of the shooting.

Meanwhile, DaBaby is facing even more fallout from his set, as his bizarre aside about HIV/AIDS and homophobic comments have prompted online retailer BoohooMan to end its partnership with him.

Lizzo Reveals She’s Working With Mark Ronson While Sarcastically Insisting She’s Not Making An Album

Things on the Lizzo front have been relatively quiet as of late, but it turns out part of the reason for that is because she’s hard at work on new music. In fact, she just revealed that she’s working on new music with Mark Ronson and Philip Lawrence, the latter of whom is best known for his work as part of the songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons, alongside Bruno Mars and Ari Levine.

In a recent TikTok video, Lizzo responds to a comment that reads, “I HEAR AN ALBUM IS COMING.” Talking while moving the camera around to show off her surroundings, Lizzo lays the sarcasm on thick and says, “A album? Absolutely not, I’m not making no f*ckin’ album! I’m not in a studio. This isn’t Mark Ronson. This isn’t a whole board. I’m not hanging out with songwriters like [Lawrence]. [laughs] I’m not making a f*ckin’ album! Where you get that from?”

It would make sense for Lizzo to have new music out soon, considering she has a busy summer and fall ahead of her: She’s set to perform at festivals like Bonnaroo, Firefly, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Lil Nas X Debut Album “MONTERO” Reportedly Leaks

“INDUSTRY BABY” is presently the top trending song in music as Lil Nas X continues to tease the release of his upcoming debut album MONTERO, but it looks like he may need to change his rollout plan for the album after sixteen songs reportedly leaked online this week.

According to a report by HipHopNMore, a grand total of sixteen songs were leaked from Lil Nas X’s MONTERO recording sessions. It’s unclear how many of them were actually cleared for the album release, but it’s likely that many of them were going to make the final tracklist.

The new songs that were reportedly leaked are: “Life After Salem,” “Tales Of Dominica,” “Anomaly,” “Dolla Sign Slime,” “Void,” “You Can Awake,” “Scoop,” “One Of Me,” Lost In The Citadel,” and more. There were also tracks featuring Miley Cyrus (“Am I Dreaming”) and Sam Smith (“Empathy”) that were included in the leak. The tracklist also features previously released songs, including “INDUSTRY BABY” with Jack Harlow“MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” and “SUN GOES DOWN.”

Unless this was part of his planned rollout strategy, Lil Nas X and his label will need to seriously consider whether they still want to wait to release the album. Previously, Lil Nas said he wasn’t interested in quickly rolling out the project, allowing time for each single to properly drop. He may not have a choice now, unfortunately.

Lil Nas X has not commented on the reported leak as of the time of this publication.

Duckwrth Teams Up With Phabo For “4K”

LA’s own Duckwrth has officially come through with his new single “4K,” set to be included on his upcoming EP SG8*, due for release this fall. Speaking on the significance of his latest tune, Duckwrth revealed his inspiration behind “4K” in a press release. “Right when outside started opening up and everyone started flocking to Tulum and Hawaii, that’s what 4K is about,” he explains. “Trying to adjust and acclimate while still having fun.”

“It’s the paradox of the recurring line, ‘Was your pandemic popping?’” he continues. “4K is a movie, and that’s what the pandemic turned into when we were let loose.” As for the music, “4K” is appropriately pristine, featuring a lush blend of synthesizers, crisp drums, and triumphant brass. Fans of the experimentally-driven artist would be wise to check this one out, and look for more where that came from when Duckwrth drops off his new EP SG8* at some point in autumn.

Young Thug Talks “Punk” Sound & Organ Failure Scare

Yesterday, Young Thug premiered four new songs from his upcoming album Punk during his first NPR Tiny Desk Concert. Originally announced in 2019, mere months after the release of his studio debut So Much Fun, it would appear that we finally have an idea of which Thug will be showing up on this one.

As some might have guessed based on the project’s title, there’s a notable emphasis on live instrumentation. Guitars, bass, and drums appear to be the backdrop for several of the recently-premiered songs, including “Die Slow,” “Droppin Jewels,” “Hate The Game,” and “Tick Tock.” While many continue to explore the new tracks, Rolling Stone shone further light on the upcoming Punk with a new digital cover story.

Revealing that Thug mainly listens to “fucking pop-star music,” jazz, and “sounds but not actual words,” perhaps we can assume that Thugger will be delving further into the direction on his sophomore drop. We’ve already heard him going full pop-punk on “Hate The Game,” arguably his most mainstream-sounding song thus far.

Another of the Tiny Desk-premiered tracks “Die Slow” featured some of his realest writing to date, and it seems as if Thug’s story will continue to be explored in greater detail. “With Punk I tapped into more real world,” he tells the publication. “I’m just rapping more about life situations because I had time to sit down and actually reflect and think.”

He also opened up about a recent health scare, where he lost most of the feeling in his body after suffering organ failure. “I kinda just stayed in the bed and I was like, ‘Yo, call the ambulance. I can’t move my body,’” he recalls. “Then later, when the ambulance came, I couldn’t get out of the bed. They had to get me out of the bed, basically. I felt like my whole body was numb and I couldn’t move. I went to the hospital and I had found out that I had liver and kidney failure. And I kinda had sorta passed away, like I kinda died.”

One can only assume he’ll be touching on that traumatic experience on Punk, a project that’s shaping up to be his most honest to date. Check out the full story over at Rolling Stone here, and look for Thug’s new album to land on October 15th. For an early glimpse at some of the songs, behold the Tiny Desk Concert below.

Lizzo Addresses Rumor That She Killed Someone By Stage-Diving

Even when an average-sized person dives from the stage to the audience, there’s a chance that someone is going to get hurt. A few years ago, Post Malone epically failed a stage dive when nobody caught him. Other artists, including Busta Rhymes, Iggy Azalea, YG, and more have fallen off the stage and narrowly missed injury. When it comes to Lizzo though, she’s never even attempted a stage dive, so she’s confused about the rumors that she allegedly killed somebody by jumping into the crowd.

The unfounded rumor has been going around, claiming that Lizzo killed somebody by jumping into the audience during one of her concerts. She decided to finally speak on the speculation, denying that she’s ever injured somebody by stage diving because, well, she’s never even done a stage dive.

“So, I’ve seen a lot of annoying things about me on the internet but the thing that bothers me the most is this rumor that I stage-dived at a concert and killed somebody,” said Lizzo on TikTok. “Like, that rumor, it’s a lie, first of all. I’ve never stage dived in my life and bitch, how, like– killed somebody!? Y’all really gon’ put that on my motherfuckin’ name? Like, I know I’m big but bitch, I’m not that fuckin’ big.”

She proceeded to show that she probably wouldn’t kill somebody by stage diving, filming herself belly-flopping onto her bed and barely making anything move. “Bitch!” she exclaimed, proving her point.

PBS Kids Cancels “Arthur” After 25 Seasons

Unless you have young children or a keen fascination with PBS Kids’ animated programming, the most that you’ve likely seen from Arthur are all the memes that have found their way to social media. It turns out that Arthur has actually been quietly expanding its legacy as the longest-running children’s animated series in American television.

However, Arthur will reportedly end its run next year because PBS Kids has shockingly canceled the show after 25 years on air. According to ScreenRant, the network’s decision to pull the plug on the beloved kids’ show comes two years after Arthur‘s polarizing gay wedding episode.

According to ScreenRant, Arthur creator Kathy Waugh is disappointed with the show’s unexpected cancellation, and in response to her show’s fast-approaching conclusion, she has stated that PBS’s axing of Arthur was a bad decision.

“We had our wrap party two years ago,” Waugh reveals. “I think [PBS] made a mistake, and I think Arthur should come back and I’m know I’m not alone in thinking they made a mistake. I don’t know if it was a ratings issue or if it felt like it needed to be retired. To me, it felt evergreen, like it was never going to end but it did end, we finished the last episode, season 25 two years ago.”

With the final season of Arthur officially out of production and set to air next year, the long-running animated series is finally coming to an end, but at least we’ll still have those hilarious Arthur’s fist and DW memes to remind us of Arthur‘s legendary 25-season run.

DaBaby Loses His Deal With BoohooMan After Making Homophobic Comments At Rolling Loud

DaBaby may not understand why what he said at Rolling Loud was so harmful to so many people, but he’s certainly beginning to feel the consequences. His “Levitating” collaborator Dua Lipa said his words “surprised and horrified” her and a fan-made version of the song featuring Megan Thee Stallion is not only rapidly growing in popularity but fans are also calling for it to replace the official version. Today, things got really real for DaBaby, as his combative attitude toward the backlash has now begun to affect his pockets.

BoohooMan, the online retailer which has grown to be one of the most popular fast-fashion hubs thanks to its collaborations with rappers like DaBaby, Quavo, Swae Lee, cut ties with the North Carolina rapper, making a statement on Instagram. The full statement reads:

BoohooMan condemns the use of homophobic language and confirm we will no longer be working with DaBaby.

Diversity and inclusion are part of the boohoo Group’s DNA and we pride ourselves on representing the diverse customers we serve across the globe.

We stand by and support the LGBTQ+ community, and do not tolerate any hate speech or discrimination in any form.

For his part, DaBaby has repeatedly tried to address the comments but his defensive posture in both statements has tempered their reception among fans, who seem to believe that he’s been less than sincere. Maybe seeing consequences outside of a few sternly-worded tweets will recontextualize the backlash for him, helping him to reconsider his words’ impact past just his intent.

Fans React To Kanye West’s Modest Living Quarters At Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Kanye West is known for his love of minimalist design but he took that to the next level with his living quarters at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The music legend is presently living inside of the stadium as he completes his tenth studio album DONDA and on Tuesday night, he showed off his personal room, which appears to have been temporarily converted from a storage room.

The very modest room features a twin bed, a place for him to hang two outfits, a handful of footwear options, a clock, and that’s it. After pushing back his album release by a couple of weeks, Kanye has been working hard on the album, taking periodic breaks to enjoy other events happening at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Last week, he was spotted watching a soccer game in the same outfit he wore during his DONDA premiere.

Given how humble Kanye’s living quarters are, his fans have had a lot to say about his set-up, predicting that the album could feature a refreshed ‘Ye, rapping from his soul and checking all material possessions at the door. Some people have also taken the opportunity to clown Yeezy for such a minimalist set-up, but if he doesn’t need anything more than this, what’s the point of going so crazy for a temporary housing situation. In two weeks, he’ll be out of there anyway.

Take a look at all the reactions to Kanye’s room at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium below.

Gunna Teases “Drip Season 4”

Gunna is so prolific when it comes to releasing music that it’s hard to imagine him not having a new album on the way.

Having last popped up with 2020’s Wunna — which also happened to be the catalyst for our recent Digital Cover Story with Gunna right here — it feels like it’s about due time for a follow-up effort.

Luckily, it would appear that Gunna stands in agreement, taking to Instagram to unveil his next endeavor. “Why Me?” he captions, alongside a telling hashtag for “DS4.” In case you need a refresher on the acronyms, DS refers to Drip Season, a mixtape series that has officially spawned three installments so far. The latest — arguably the project that skyrocketed Gunna into the spotlight — arrived in February of 2018.

Suffice it to say, a lot has happened to the Atlanta melodist since then, and the fact he’s opted to revisit the series speaks volumes about his creative headspace. On his IG page, Gunna shared a snippet from a forthcoming single titled “Why Me,” which finds him baring his soul over a melancholic guitar instrumental. Perhaps we’re looking at a potential realest shit he’s ever wrote contender — check out the preview below, and sound off with your take.

While Gunna has yet to share a release date, look for more information on Drip Season 4 to surface in the near future. Are you looking forward to a new Drip Season album?
