One Lil Wayne fan may soon own his old lyric notebook, if they’re willing to put up a considerable amount of money for it. According to TMZ, website Moments In Time fought for five years to prove that they could sell the notebook. The contents of the notebook dates back to the earliest days of Wayne’s career as a member of the Hot Boys in the late 1990s.
Moments In Time originally listed the notebook in 2019. The site did so on behalf of a man who claimed to have found Lil Wayne’s handwritten lyrics in a car that used to belong to Cash Money Records. Once they listed the notebook, Wayne hit the company with a cease and desist. He then demanded that the notebook be returned to him. In February, Judge Kern A. Reese of the Orleans Civil District Court in Louisiana ruled that the site has the rights to sell the notebook, following no response from Wayne on the matter. Moments In Time confirmed as much in a legal document published on the sale page. The site originally posted the notebook for $250,000 in 2019. This makes the re-listing a twentyfold increase over the initial asking price.
Lil Wayne’s Old Lyric Notebook Is For Sale, For Those Who Can Afford It
Despite the minor legal loss, Lil Wayne has had another successful year. He’s been building a resume of great feature verses for the last several years. He added to that with his appearance on Cordae’s “Saturday Mornings.” Juvenile claimed that the original members of the Hot Boys were reuniting for their first album in two decades. However, Wayne has yet to detail his own involvement in the album, if any. B.G. and Turk have also been going back and forth. Any reunions will probably have to wait until those two resolve their issues.
Lil Wayne’s notebook is far from the first piece of hip-hop memorabilia to be sold off. Concert-worn outfits and personal items from an artist’s collection are auctioned regularly. Drake bought 2Pac’s ring for over $1 million in August 2023, one of the most expensive pieces of hip-hop history ever sold. Pac designed the ring himself, and he wore it during his last public appearance in September 1996. If someone were to purchase Wayne’s notebook, it would be the most expensive piece of hip-hop memorabilia to date. We’ll see if someone meets the steep asking price soon enough.
The Game has revealed that he’s set to become a father all over again at the ripe old age of 44, naming JAY-Z as an inspiration on how to be an older dad.
Mr. Hotspot has a wholesome explanation as to why he hasn’t cleared the sample for Drake and Lil Yachty.
“We recorded him a clean reference, and we sent it into them,” Mr. Hotspot said on TikTok Live, as captured by Complex. “So, hopefully they re-record the clean reference, and we come out the clean, goodness gracious altogether. So, it’s a process, but it would for both of their brands like that. I’m blessed to work with children, so we just gotta make it clean for them.”
Mr. Hotspot continued, “We don’t need no children getting whooped ’cause they said this or that, you understand? If you look at the backside, it’s the children who really running these views up. So, if we make sure both verses [are] clean, everybody coming clean, everybody gonna benefit, for sure. It’s a process, but we appreciate you being patient. We sent it in. They got it today, and those boys about to turn up. We ain’t trying to hold them back from nothing, but we just need the morals correct. That’s all.”
Mr. Hotspot says that he sent a solution to Lil Yachty and Drake to use for an official release of “Super Soak”pic.twitter.com/dFBrr0FYxo
According to Genius, the leaked “S.O.D. (Supersoak)” lyrics are not kid-friendly.
With Flagrant, Lil Yachty also confirmed that the song would not release in an official capacity and explained the complications of getting a sample cleared from Mr. Hotspot: “This wasn’t an artist; this was an Instagram, social media influencer. He went down, like, a Christian path.” When asked how much money was offered to Mr. Hotspot, Yachty said, “I don’t even think we got into money. He was like, ‘No.’”
YG is still not a fan of Donald Trump and labeled the former President “racist” during an interview with Adin Ross on Sunday. The West Coast rapper famously teamed up with Nipsey Hussle for the 2016 single, “FDT (F*ck Donald Trump).” A key part of the debate centered around police brutality and the idea of giving officers federal immunity.
“I’m Black,” YG began. “I got a lot of homies and friends that done been in police brutality situations where they ain’t really do nothing wrong. Police trippin’ out and n****s end up dead or f*cked up in jail. Trump, he thinks different and I don’t f*ck with that.”
From there, the topic turned to the killing of Sonya Massey, who was fatally shot by a police officer after she dialed 911 with fears of a break-in. “She called the police to come protect and serve her and she end up getting shot in the face. What type of sh*t is that?” he questioned. “That muthaf*cka needs to go under the jail.” Ross attempted to argue that the officer in that case was charged, but YG retorted: “Yeah but Trump is trying to change that.” The former president has mentioned supporting “immunity from prosecution” for officers in the past. YG continued: “We talking about police brutality. We not talking about laws back in the day when weed was illegal. We’re talking about police brutality on innocent Black muthaf*ckas who was in the wrong, who didn’t have a gun.”
YG speaks With Adin Ross About Donald Trump
Trump is currently vying against Kamala Harris in an attempt to retake the presidency after a term from Joe Biden. Be on the lookout for further updates on YG and Donald Trump as well as the 2024 Presidential Election on HotNewHipHop.
Cardi B has had quite the hectic past couple of weeks, what with her pregnancy announcement and her divorce from Offset. But it seems like it’s been a pretty tense time for her for other reasons too, as a new clip has surfaced (allegedly from last week) that shows her arguing with a pedestrian in New York City. At what looks like a hotel, the clip below shows a woman screaming at the Bronx femcee, seemignly calling her a “Black-a** b***h,” and Cardi responded in kind from out of her car window by screaming: “I’ll f**k you up for real.” Still, the clip doesn’t really clarify what they were arguing over, so it’s still a bizarre and mysterious thing to witness.
Elsewhere, though, Cardi B also clapped back at fans thinking that she’s in a financial rut right now. “First of all, The Sun is posting rumors that y’all are making up and sending blind items about… that’s why it’s NO DOCUMENTS, just word of mouth,” she tweeted. “Everybody gets a loan to buy a house and I never been behind on any of them.. i bought my house in 2021 and put almost 12 million in it now look how much I got left. I’m very responsible with money, my bills come before luxury and I just spent 400 thousand on jewelry this month because I also still know how to BUDGET… stop playin wit me.”
As far as Cardi B’s other online defenses and clashes with users and the general public, she explained why her pregnancy announcement feels like a relief. “I’m so happy y’all know I’m [pregnant],” she shared on Twitter. “Now I can stop wearing those deum school girl skirts lmaoooooo.”
Meanwhile, another element that fans are discussing a lot right now is Cardi B sticking up for Offset amid rumors that his failures were what contributed to their split. “Ok this is getting weird cause I can say he helps me a lot with my business and the kids…” she clarified. “Never in my career no matter what I went through I had friends or family go to the media sooo I don’t know who is this damn source going to people magazine. Even wit my filling I’m not askin for child support my claim is for him to only pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.”
Pop and R&B star Khalid is back with his third album, Sincere. The album is his first in five years, since his multi-platinum previous release, Free Spirit. During that time, Khalid stayed somewhat busy musically. He released a mixtape and several singles. He also collaborated with artists like Summer Walker, Victoria Monet, and Tate McRae. Sincere is 16 tracks long and sees Khalid operating primarily as a solo artist. However, it does feature one appearance from Arlo Parks, a burgeoning indie pop artist from the United Kingdom. It is some of his most R&B-oriented music to date, a minor departure from the poppier elements of his younger work. The result is an album that fans of Khalid are praising, a welcome change for the El Paso singer after the more indifferent reception to 2021’s Scenic Drivemixtape.
When speaking to Billboardabout Sincere, Khalid said that its release has been a long time coming, and it represents the introduction of a more complete artist with more life experience. “This is the one I have been waiting five years to put out, and this is the one full of music that I’ve been harboring over the past half decade for the perfect moment, and no moment is more perfect,” he told the magazine. Khalid recently opened for Ed Sheeran during part of Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour in 2023. The tour spans over 100 shows and doesn’t end until September 2025. With his latest album release, Khalid announcing his own headlining tour is likely imminent. He also appeared on the Barbie soundtrack, which won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. Stream Sincere below.

Eminem performed a rare concert before Terence Crawford’s bout with Israil Madrimov, revving up fans with hits such as ‘Till I Collapse’ and ‘Lose Yourself’.
We’ve been spoiled in 2024. As we previously outlined in our list of the year’s best albums so far, we’ve been treated to new albums from folks like Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Vampire Weekend, Dua Lipa, Rapsody, and many more.
What’s wild is that there’s still so much to look forward to in the year’s closing months. Cardi B insists her long-awaited second album is dropping before 2025. Post Malone will complete his country pivot on F-1 Trillion. Sabrina Carpenter is set to continue her run as the year’s biggest breakout star with an LP of her own.
Ultimately, there’s something coming for everybody soon, so check out the most anticipated albums of the rest of 2024 below.
ASAP Rocky — Don’t Be Dumb (August 30)
Rocky has kept busy over the past few years with singles and collaborations, but as far as albums, fans have been waiting for a new one since 2018’s Testing. At long last, though, Don’t Be Dumb is set to land this summer and it’s set to include the 2023 single “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n).”
Beabadoobee — This Is How Tomorrow Moves (August 9)
Something major happened between past Uproxx cover star Beabadoobee’s latest album (2022’s Beatopia) and her upcoming LP (This Is How Tomorrow Moves): She opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour. So, Swiftie eyes will be on Bea’s next one and there’s a lot to enjoy, including “Take A Bite,” “Coming Home,” and “Ever Seen.”
Big Sean — Better Me Than You (August)
It’s been nearly four years since Detroit 2, the latest album from Big Sean. He’s on his way back, though, with Better Me Than You, and if his just-announced new management deal is any indication, he’s looking to shake things up this time around.
Cardi B
Cardi has found herself on lists of most-anticipated albums for the past few years as fans patiently (very, very patiently) await the follow-up to 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy. Cardi had a disappointing dispatch on that front a few months ago, though, when she said she’d be “relaxing this year.” Later, though, she reversed course and promised that her next album, which has yet to be officially announced, is indeed coming in 2024.
There’s speculation that Eusexua is the title of Twigs’ upcoming album, and at the very least, it seems to be the name of a new song, as Vogue relays. The publication also described the song as having a “driving bassline” and Twigs called the upcoming project “a love letter to how dance music makes me feel,” while not specifically saying the album itself is dance music.
Halsey
Halsey is back (even if she’s not necessarily feeling awesome about it at the moment), as she had an album on the way, a project that comes after/amid a tough journey: Halsey recently said of the project, “When I started writing it, I thought it might be the last album I ever got the chance to make.” So far, we’ve heard “Lucky,” a Britney Spears- and Monica-sampling that sounds a lot more uplifting than the tone of everything before this sentence.
J Balvin — Rayo (August 9)
After releasing an album every year from 2018 to 2021, J Balvin fans have found themselves in a rare position: Amid an extended wait for a new album. Their suffering is about to end, though, as Rayo drops in a few days and it features the thumping SAIKO collaboration “Gaga.”
Jamie xx — In Waves (September 20)
Where’s that new album from The xx? They’ve teased new music a handful of times (here, here, here) in recent years, but we’re still waiting for their first new LP since 2017’s I See You. The silver lining is that Jamie xx has remained active in his solo endeavors, and his upcoming album In Waves (his first since 2015’s In Colour) features collaborations with Robyn and The Avalanches.
Del Rey confirmed this one herself, saying at a pre-Grammys event in January, “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack [Antonoff] has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” She also indicated the project is called Lasso and at the time, it was expected to drop in September, although an official release date has yet to be revealed.
Latto — Sugar Honey Iced Tea
In June, Latto threw a big Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta, where she announced the title of her upcoming project, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Given the prevalence of rap beef these days, some took the title as a dig at Ice Spice. Whatever the case, there’s no tracklist yet, but perhaps some of Latto’s post-777 singles will make the cut, like her 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor.”
MJ Lenderman — Manning Fireworks (September 6)
MJ Lenderman has a bit of a double-life situation going on right now: He’s a member of successful indie rockers Wednesday while also earning acclaim for his solo material. Some considered his 2022 album Boat Songs to be one of the year’s best releases, and now he’s prepping Manning Fireworks, which brings his two musical worlds together as Wednesday bandmate Karly Hartzman has a feature on the album.
Nilüfer Yanya — My Method Actor (September 13)
Yanya has become a quick favorite in the indie world over the past half-decade, and for her third album, she’s drawing conceptual inspiration from the world of film. She previously described method acting as “a bit like being a musician,” continuing, “When you’re performing, you’re still trying to invoke the energy and emotion of when you first wrote it, in that moment. It definitely feels like you’re having to recreate or step into that headspace.”
Post Malone — F-1 Trillion (August 16)
Posty just follows his heart. He started in hip-hop, ventured more into pop territory, and now he’s in his country era. It’s off to a cracking start, too, as he landed a No. 1 single by teaming with Morgan Wallen for “I Had Some Help.” Indeed, he had some help making his debut country album F-1 Trillion, as it also features Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and many other country favorites.
Sabrina Carpenter — Short N’ Sweet (August 23)
It’s hard to argue against Carpenter’s “Espresso” as this year’s song of the summer (although tunes from Kendrick Lamar and some others have cases, too). Carpenter has quickly become one of music’s biggest stars thanks to her down-to-earth personality and undeniably delightful songs, and there’s sure to be plenty of both on Short N’ Sweet.
Suki Waterhouse — Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin (September 13)
Toro Y Moi has done a bit of everything in his varied music career. It remains to be seen exactly what his next album, Hole Erth, will sound like, but he goes with a blend of alternative and hip-hop on “Tuesday” and honors Broken Social Scene on the dreamy “Heaven.” So, per usual, we’ll have to wait and see what Toro Y Moi does next.
The Weeknd
For well over two years now, The Weeknd has been teasing a trilogy of albums that features After Hours and Dawn FM. It’s still unclear when this arc of The Weeknd’s career will be resolved, but it appears to be soon: He unveiled a teaser video in July that strongly hints a new album is on the horizon, seemingly one about new life or rebirth. Both of the preceding projects produced hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Take My Breath,” so look forward to more bangers.
Navy Blue being an independent artist has always seemed to fit him better. Being such a talented name in New York’s underground scene did get him a deal with Def Jam Recordings a couple of years ago. However, the relationship was short-lived, as the 27-year-old was dropped from the major label. But as we said, the “Chosen” MC is more of a hidden gem than a blatant superstar. It seems Navy Blue enjoys being the former based on a recent IG post about his new album Memoirs In Armour. This album was initially an 8 track EP, in response to the fact that the album I had worked so hard on for the past 2 years wasn’t able to come out”, he began.
“I’m grateful to have been inspired enough to make this album within the past few months. Due to the shift in circumstances, this project became a refuge to me. I hope you enjoy it. I’m happy to be putting this album out independently —the way I had always intended to be releasing music”. Overall, you certainly tell that Memoirs In Armour is just that as Navy Blue is openly introspective. He talks about his career, his past struggles mentally and physically, in addition to life advice. Also making the album a hit is the equally thought-provoking instrumentals which are airy and dreamy. Blue’s consistently detailed writing mixed with the aforementioned beats are a great combo making this a standout in his catalog and a stellar return after a rough transitional period.
