Drake Allegedly Shades The Weeknd in 100 gigs Content Clip

image

Maybe that Toronto turmoil between Drake and The Weeknd is starting to make more sense. After the second round of Drake’s archived “100 Gigs” collection, it appears to show a backstage moment from the 2013 OVO Fest. Drake is seen enthusiastically greeting members of The Weeknd’s XO crew but noticeably neglects to acknowledge The Weeknd himself, leading to speculation about a possible issue.

A ha. The plot thickens.

Get this, the video continues, and Abel Tesfaye, that’s The Weeknd’s government name btw, is seen twisting his lip and looking visibly irritated. At one point, Drake is seen telling a story about Kanye West, Don C, and Virgil Abloh’s appearance at the festival, after which he appears to offer a quick dap to The Weeknd before the clip abruptly ends.

And Drake leaks this. Diabolical LOL. But what the content does not show is why. And there’s three sides to every story and the third side is usually the truth.

Fans quickly jumped into the chat, “Oh so he ignored him after he used him for one of his best albums? Great, you been a snake.” Another added, “Drake a slimey guy. Peep how he cut the footage immediately after he acknowledged The Weeknd and was about to dap him up.”

More from the peanut gallery: “Drake gonna dap everyone but The Weeknd and talk extremely close to him but act like all beef is due to jealousy,” one user noted. Another remarked, “Ya’ll talking about a man who stole songs from The Weeknd around this time. “Take Care” was only possible because of Abel. Period. He knew what Drake was then and knows what he is now.”

Wild all around if you ask us but it is what it is.

Fireboy DML Releases Deeply Personal Fourth Album, ‘adedamola’

Fireboy DML Releases Deeply Personal Fourth Album, 'adedamola'

Today, award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Fireboy DML released his most personal and reflective album yet, adedamola. This 14-track project marks a significant chapter in his career, showcasing his evolution as both an artist and an individual. The album features collaborations with notable talents, including Nigerian artists Lojay, Lagbaja, Seun Kuti, DJ SPINALL, and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jon Batiste.

adedamola explores themes of love, loss, and growth, with love in its many forms serving as a central focus. The album reflects the lessons Fireboy has learned over the past year, emphasizing family, personal health, peace of mind, and his relationship with God. Born from significant challenges—including dealing with loss, battling self-doubt, and navigating his quest for identity—the album stands as a testament to Fireboy’s resilience and artistic vision.

“It’s a culmination of what I’ve learned in the past couple of years, especially in 2023. I’m learning that success is not always glamorous. It can be personal and relative to who you are and what matters to you. There are a few songs on the album that really talk about focusing on the things that matter—family, personal health, peace of mind, my relationship with God, and sharing love with the people that really matter to you.”

Cardi B Goes In on Atlantic Records Calling the Label a “Correctional Facility”

image

It was all good just a week ago or maybe it never was. In the curious case of when is Cardi B dropping her next album, the Bronx rapper has kept fans on edge with a series of updates and delays.

Cardi stirred up more excitement and concern on Wednesday (Aug. 28) when she posted a photo from a recording studio, captioning it, “Back at Atlantic Records correctional facilities.” Wow.

The comment sparked a flurry of reactions on socials.

One user on X quipped, “She just like me when it’s time to go to work.”

Another said, “Well she’s pregnant & divorcing, wouldn’t want to either.”

Obviously fans and well, the world has been waiting for a follow-up to her blockbuster 2018 debut, “Invasion of Privacy,” which spawned hits like “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and “Bartier Cardi.” But earlier this year, Cardi announced that the album would not be released in 2024.

“I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the a**. Anyway, NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year ..Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer,” she tweeted in May.

However, her label, Atlantic Records said via caption “Cardi B’s upcoming album is one of the most anticipated this year. We can’t wait [to] put it out, even if we have to sneak into her studio and take it!”

Maybe Atlantic has not gotten the memo. Or maybe they just don’t care what she said. Either way, we’re all on album watch and the clock is ticking.

Stephen Curry Re-Ups Extension with Golden State Warriors

image

There’s going to be at least one more run for Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. The longtime face of franchise has secured a fresh contract with the team, extending his tenure for another year. According to ESPN, Curry’s new deal is valued at $62.6 million and will keep him with the Warriors through the 2026-27 NBA season.

Sixty plus million for one year. Sheesh.

This extension brings Curry closer to joining an elite group of NBA players who have surpassed $500 million in career earnings.

As you know Curry, a four-time NBA champion, had two years left on his current $215.4 million contract, signed in 2021. However, due to the NBA’s over-38 rule, which restricts teams from offering multi-year deals to players who will be 38 or older during the contract term, the Warriors could only offer Curry a one-year extension. Currently 36, Curry has expressed his desire to retire as a Warrior, a sentiment he reiterated in a March 2023 interview with Andscape.

Curry said, “My real but fake goal was reaching my dad, who played 16 years in the league. But now, you get to this point where you realize that at 16 years, he was 37. I remember the last three years of his career he had a back spasm problem in Milwaukee. I just remember all the work he had to do to play those last three years. Times have changed in terms of what your prime is.”

The greatest shooter added, “How I feel right now is not how I thought I’d feel at 35. That number sounds crazy, but in my head, I feel like I got a lot left. The work I put into this I still enjoy. Who knows how [the future] looks? I talked to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and other guys who have been on the other side of the halfway point. I know quarterbacking is different, but you can check yourself [mentally] into not fast-forwarding too far. They really did a good job of disciplining themselves for what is happening in real time. They’re 40 feeling like they can still play. I’m trying to stay in that mode. Thirty-five is a big milestone, but the next one is 40. The way I feel right now, who knows?”

Irv Gotti’s team has confirmed he suffered a stroke. According to TMZ, the “minor stroke” occurred over six months ago as a result of diabetes complications.

“Irv has been struggling with diabetes for years, which caused him to have a minor stroke over six months ago,” Gotti’s rep said in a statement. “He has since changed his diet to eating more healthy. He’s been successful in making a full recovery. Irv is not in a rehab facility. He is at home with his family, enjoying life.”

Additionally, a video of Gotti walking with a cane has surfaced.

Sean Kingston and Mother Plead Not Guilty, Seek Jury Trial

sean kingston

Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have pleaded not guilty during arraignment for a $1 million wire fraud scheme. The two seek a jury trial and discovery but still face a $900,000 bond.

Kingston and Turner are accused of defrauding businesses out of more than $1 million. The indictment follows their arrest on fraud charges in Broward County, FL, three months ago.

TMZ reports that a Grand Jury has indicted Kingston and Turner on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud each. Federal prosecutors allege that the duo orchestrated a scheme to defraud multiple businesses, acquiring jewelry, luxury vehicles, and other high-end goods through false payment claims.

The charges state that Sean and Janice enriched themselves by falsely claiming they had sent money transfers for the goods, only to keep the items when it was discovered that the payments had not gone through. The fraudulent activities reportedly include acquiring a $160,000 Cadillac Escalade and $480,000 worth of jewelry without making any actual payments.

In May, the pair were arrested following a raid on Sean Kingston’s Florida mansion. They made their first appearance in federal court on Friday. If convicted, Kingston and Turner could face up to 20 years in prison for each of the six counts they are charged with.

Sean Kingston’s attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, remains optimistic about the case, stating, “We look forward to litigating the case in federal court and are confident we will win.”

Thoughts?

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Retakes No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

As summer draws to a close, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has emerged as one of Spotify’s 2024 Global Songs of Summer. The track captures the spirit of the season and resonates deeply with listeners across the Northern Hemisphere. Selected by Spotify’s global music editorial team, it represents the hip-hop genre among a diverse set of songs that defined summer 2024.

“Not Like Us” transcended the rap beef that inspired it, driving a massive surge in streams for Kendrick Lamar’s entire catalog on Spotify immediately after its release. The song saw its most significant spike on June 20 globally and in the US, coinciding with Kendrick’s highly-attended Juneteenth concert in Los Angeles, which boosted its momentum.

As the anthem continued to gain traction, it became a defining sound of the summer, encapsulating the season’s energy and securing its place among Spotify’s top picks.

Also featured in Spotify’s 2024 Songs of Summer are Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” a dreamy and introspective track that captured listeners’ imaginations, and Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” an upbeat anthem that fueled summer parties.
