Killer Mike Taken Away In Handcuffs During Grammy Awards

Killer Mike has been placed under arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards after accepting his wins for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album at the ceremony. The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner broke the news on Twitter. The cause of the arrest is unclear; however, it reportedly has nothing to do with his behavior at the event.

“Just spoke to an official who tells me it’s a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena,” Gardner reported live from the venue. “Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. ‘It’s a big nothing,’ source says.”

Latto Apparently Taunted Ice Spice By Shooting A Music Video Near The Bronx Rapper’s Old Neighborhood

Amid her apparent beef with Ice Spice, former Uproxx cover star Latto is reportedly taunting the Bronx-raised rapper by shooting a new music video in the Bronx.

Fans on social media posted videos of the Georgia rapper arriving for the shoot in a caravan of blacked-out SUVs on Saturday (February 3). Meanwhile, other fans noted that the neighborhood in which she was apparently shooting the video is on the far side of the Bronx from Ice’s old ‘hood, and that Ice herself is currently in Los Angeles for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Latto, meanwhile, was in New York for a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live alongside J-Lo, who performed her Latto-featuring single “Can’t Get Enough.”

Her appearance drew attention from fans after Ice Spice admitted that lines on her own new single “Think U The Sh*t (Fart),” were indeed directed at Latto after she believed Latto included a stand-in for her in one of her own videos. In the snippet Latto posted, she raps, “Every time y’all put me with them hoes, it’s gon’ be big drama / Twenty black Suburbans, we pull up like Sunday Service / I just want a one on one, don’t know why she so nervous.”

Ice Spice is nominated for Best Rap Song for “Barbie World” alongside Nicki Minaj, as well Best New Artist and Nominated for Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Karma” with Taylor Swift.

Killer Mike had a tremendous start to the 2024 Grammys. During the pre-show awards, he picked up three awards, every one for which he was nominated. Not long after that, though, things took a turn, as he was spotted being taken away in handcuffs.

On X (formerly Twitter), The Hollywood Reporter‘s Chris Gardner shared a video of Mike, with his hands in cuffs and behind his back, being escorted through a Crypto.com Arena hallway by law enforcement. Gardner noted in a follow-up tweet, “An official tells someone on his team that it’s possible he may be released later tonight from the arena. Unclear if he’s being booked here and what he’s charged with. Trying to find out.”

In an additional update, Gardner conveyed that the situation appears to not be a big deal, tweeting, “Just spoke to an official who tells me it’s a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. ‘It’s a big nothing,’ source says.”

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. caught wind of what happened and was seen talking with Mike’s team and with officials. After a few minutes, Gardner noted, “Harvey Mason Jr is now headed backstage after spending time here talking to security and Killer Mike’s team. The scene by security has calmed but Mike is still detained back there.”

Gardner also said he attempted to get more information about the situation from somebody on Mike’s team, but they declined to comment.

Did 21 Savage Respond To Adin Ross?

21 Savage is a lot of things, and according to him, cheating isn’t one of them. The “Call Me Revenge” rapper is known for placing a few friendly wagers on things he enjoys doing, including video games, sports, and card games. 21 Savage recently won a whooping $300,000 from streamer Kai Cenat after “spanking him” at Madden.

While hanging out with YouTuber Adin Ross to promote his latest album, American Dream, 21 Savage put his luck to the test. During the broadcast, the two decided to play a card game. The two put a $400,000 pot on the line to take things up a notch. 21 Savage appeared to be the winner yet again. But before coughing up the dough, Ross noticed something was off with the cards used. Ross’ viewers began to call 21 Savage for cheating, which he echoed on a phone call with Kai Cenat.

Did 21 Savage Respond To Adin Ross?

After gaining wind of Ross’ remarks, a user online alleged that Savage took to his Instagram Stories to deny Adin Ross’ claim with a heated message.

“Lame ass n****s scratching cards and blaming it on me,” read the alleged post. “That f*ck n**** Adin tryna call me a scammer. Let that Jew know that he’s blackballed from all of the rap game.”

However, 21 Savage’s manager, Justin “Meezy” Williams, quickly refute the counterfeit post. “Bruh, if y’all believe that fake ass post, y’all crazy,” he wrote. “Who the f*ck says, ‘blackballed from the rap game.’ LMFAO, the internet goes for anything.”

Lil Durk & J. Cole Win Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy For “All My Life”

Durk previously discussed the collaborations with Cole during an interview with The Nadeska Show, last July. He described the rapper as a “legend.” “He went super crazy,” Durk said at the time. “It’s so crazy because we’d been talking for like, two years, and he’d always be like, ‘Send me a record.’ And I’m like, ‘I gotta find the right record.’ I’m glad I waited two years. In my eyes he a legend. If you have a chance to do a song with a legend, it be like, will you send them something just to send it, just to say you got one, or you gone make it stick. So that’s why I never just sent him a record. Cause I’m like, ‘I want something that’s gon’ stick.’ As soon as I did the record, he was the first person to pop in my head. Like, I got it. I believe in timing. Timing is everything.”

The Recording Academy Mistakingly Announced Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s ‘Barbie World’ As A Grammy Winner On X, Which Didn’t Go Well

The 2024 Grammys are just as nerve-wracking for musicians as it is for the team that makes the ceremony possible. Unfortunately, considering that it is music’s biggest, there is no margin for era. Sadly, the poor social media manager over at The Recording Academy is learning this the hard way.

As the rap categories were being announced, the organization’s social media team got one coveted winner wrong. In a screengrab captured by Pop Crave, The Recording Academy announced Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’sBarbie World” as the winner of the Best Rap Song. The only problem is, as the ceremony was being broadcast, Killer Mike was the actual winner.

Minaj’s die-hard fans, the Barbz, have already begun to slam The Recording Academy online for the mix-up. Some have even started conspiracy theories that Roc Nation pulled strings to get the win pulled due to Minaj’s ongoing beef with Megan Thee Stallion.

Although the record, which was featured on the Barbie movie soundtrack, the compilation has already pulled in other wins, including Best Song Written for Visual Media (for Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” Mistakenly Announced As Grammys Best Rap Song, The Barbz Go Wild

It goes without saying that Nicki Minaj’s Barbz are a force to be reckoned with. This has been demonstrated time and time again, most recently with their explosive reactions to Megan Thee Stallion dissing Nicki on “Hiss.” Nicki was nominated for two Grammy awards this year, including Best Song Written for Visual Media and Best Rap Song for her Barbie collab with Ice Spice, “Barbie World.” Unfortunately, she didn’t secure either of them, leaving her Grammy-less.

Billie Eilish took home Best Song Written for Visual Media with her Barbie soundtrack contribution “What Was I Made For?” while Best Rap Song went to Killer Mike. His track with Andre 3000, “Scientists & Engineers,” featuring Eryn Allen Kane and Future came out on top, also earning him an award for Best Rap Performance. His sixth studio album, Michael, additionally scored Best Rap Album.

Recording Academy Wrongly Declares “Barbie World” As Winner

Needless to say, the Barbz are feral. To make matters worse, the Grammys’ official Twitter/X account mistakenly announced “Barbie World” as the winner of Best Rap Song. Some Tweets also suggest that the official Grammys website had it listed as the winner, leaving social media users to speculate. Some suspect that “Barbie World” was supposed to win, but someone on the inside stole the win away from Nicki.

This is obviously unconfirmed, but either way, they’re convinced. Some of Nicki’s peers have even hit social media since the announcement, suggesting that they have their suspicions too. Nicki herself has yet to weigh in, but surely it’ll be explosive when she does.

The Barbz Are Feral Over Grammy Snub

What do you think of the Grammys mistakenly announcing “Barbie World” as the 2024 Grammy winner for Best Rap Song? What about Killer Mike’s win? Share your thoughts in the comments section, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check out some of the Barbz’s reactions down below.
