Why Was Gunna Mentioned During Young Thug’s Trial?

Gunna’s name was bound to come up in the racketeering trial against Young Thug eventually. After all, Gunna was signed to Young Thug’s record label, YSL (Young Stoner Life), and was indicted alongside him as a member of YSL (Young Slime Life), the alleged gang Thug is accused of leading to commit or incite dozens of violent crimes in and around the Atlanta area. Gunna has also fielded accusations of “snitching” ever since he accepted a plea deal in which he pled guilty to racketeering in exchange for time served and his eventual release.

While some fans, foes, and former friends might have expected Gunna to eventually take the stand, his name actually came up in an entirely different context during the trial as the testimony of Trontavious “Slug” Stephens — an accused co-founder of the alleged gang — continued. A prosecutor asked Slug whether Gunna is a member of a Crip gang, replying in the affirmative.

Since the prosecution’s case against YSL maintains that it’s a local offshoot of the wider Bloods organization, it seems like this line of questioning undermines the DA’s argument. If YSL were really a gang instead of just a record label, it would be unusual — to say the least — for it to also include an acknowledged member of a rival organization.

Slug’s testimony has offered a number of sound bytes so far, with mentions of LeBron James, Serena Williams, and more.

One could only imagine that meeting other notable folks wouldn’t be such a significant moment after you’ve achieved a certain level of fame. Well, that isn’t true for “Lift Me Up” singer Rihanna. As a global music superstar, Rihanna has rubbed shoulders with the who’s-who of the world, from other musicians to high-ranking political officials. But when Rihanna ran into Thor: Love And Thunder actress Natalie Portman, she couldn’t maintain her cool.

On January 22, the two had an adorable exchange while attending the Dior Haute Couture show during Paris Fashion Week 2024. In a clip captured by onlookers, Rihanna, the self-proclaimed bad gyal, dubbed Portman with a similar title. “I am a f*cking fan,” she said. “You’re one of the hottest b*tches in Hollywood forever. You do the most innocent look, and I’m like, ‘Ahhhh!’”

Stunned that Rihanna was starstruck, Portman couldn’t do anything but smile as she gathered her thoughts. Eventually, she worked up the confidence to say: “I’m going to blackout. I love you, and I listen to your music all the time.”

Unlocking her true inner fangirl, Rihanna asked Portman if they could grab a pic to savor the moment. “Can somebody take a picture,” she said. “So I, like, remember this happened tomorrow?”

Users online unanimously agreed with Portman’s coronation into the baddies society.

“Two queens coming together for a joint slay,” wrote one user.

Nicki Minaj Joins Rema, Asake, And J Hus As Headliners For Afro Nation Portugal 2024

Afro Nation has announced the lineup for its 2024 festival in Portugal, with adding Nicki Minaj to a group of headliners including Rema, Asake, and J Hus. The young festival (which was initially launched back in 2019) has expanded its offerings in the years since its debut, but Portimão, Portugal remains its homebase — which is why it makes sense they’ve booked one of the biggest names in hip-hop to join some of the top Afrobeats-influenced musicians of the past year. The festival is billed for June 26-28 at The Algarve, moving from its usual base at Praia da Rocha.

Lil Pump’s name never seems to be far from controversy. Currently, the 23-year-old is making waves in hip-hop news thanks to his comments about Joe Budden. The also-controversial podcaster’s name was mentioned in Pump’s Instagram Story on Tuesday (January 23), along with allegations of beating women and struggling with substance abuse. The receipts the young star brought to the table include a screenshot of Budden’s mugshot, as well as one of a Variety article from 2021 when content creator Olivia Dope accused him of sexual harassment.

“F**k Joe Budden, 43-year-old drug addict [woman beater],” he wrote earlier this morning with several typos. “[You’re] worthless,” Pump publicly told Budden, though he didn’t actually tag the New York native. “Go hit a man, not a [woman],” the former suggested before leaving a row of “😂😂😂😂😂” emojis above Budden’s solemn-looking police photo from nearly a decade ago. “It’s never okay to hit women, [you’re] a piece of s**t,” the “I Love It” hitmaker ended his rant. Now that the drama is making rounds on blogs, users are curious about what caused Pump to lash out so intensely.

IShowSpeed is someone who has absolutely no chill, and fans should probably be aware of that by now. Overall, he is someone who does whatever he wants on his streams. Unfortunately, this can leave his house in complete shambles. Moreover, it can sometimes lead to guests being put in uncomfortable situations. At the end of the day, Speed is a pretty young guy and may not understand the full scope of his actions. However, for his fans, it does not matter. They are even younger than he is and they just want to see the chaos.

Recently, Speed got to stream with the likes of both Adin Ross and Kai Cenat. Of course, these two are absolute giants in the space. Although they are being quickly surpassed by the likes of CaseOh and Jynxzi, they are still very much relevant. With Cenat and Ross being older than Speed, they act as a big brother of sorts to him. That said, Speed attempts to impress them and then goes way too far. That is exactly what happened the other night, and it was all caught in a clip which can be found below.

Lil Nas X’s New Single Scores Middling Hot 100 Debut

For an artist of Lil Nas X’s caliber songs are expected to be massive hits right away. That wasn’t the case with his new single “J CHRIST.” The song just hit the Hot 100 this week but was far lower down the chart than many expected. The same week that Ariana Grande debuted her new song “yes, and?” at the very top spot, “J CHRIST” just landed at number 69. Some of the rapper’s previous hits like “THAT’S WHAT I WANT” started off slow before becoming smash successes. But for the long-awaited lead single for his second album, many fans are underwhelmed.

Another element hampering the debut of “J CHRIST” is the new 21 Savage album american dream. The project debuted 14 of its 15 songs on the Hot 100, 13 of which placed above “J CHRIST” on the charts. Two of those songs “redrum” and “nee-nah” landed inside the top 10. Two additional songs “all of me” and “n.h.i.e” place in the top 20. “J CHRIST” has racked up more than 11 million streams on Spotify and its music video has over 12 million views, so the song is clearly getting some attention. It remains to be seen whether the song will fade from the Hot 100 quickly or become a sleeper hit over time.

Lil Nas X’s “J CHRIST” Debuts At Number 69

Later this week Lil Nas X has a new documentary coming out. For the film he let cameras follow him on his first world tour last year documenting the journey. In addition to taking fans behind-the-scenes of his tour, the doc will also tell the story of the pop star’s rise to success. In the trailers for the new documentary he discusses his overnight rise to stardom. The documentary will be available on HBO and Max on January 27.
