Lil Tjay Dramatizes His Shooting In The Harrowing ‘July 22nd’ Video

In the video for Lil Tjay’s new song “July 22nd,” the Bronx rapper recounts and dramatizes the events of this day one year ago when he was nearly shot to death during a botched robbery attempt in New Jersey. While this might seem like an odd thing to commemorate, it’s a testament to Tjay’s commitment to the craft that he’s willing to turn what could end up being one of his life’s greatest traumas into creative inspiration.

If you’ve followed the story at all, you should have a pretty good idea of the plot of the video; as Lil Tjay lyrically recalls the day leading up to the shooting, interspersed with scenes of himself recording in the studio and flashbacks to the life-saving surgery that removed seven bullets from his torso and neck and almost ended his rap career. Fortunately for the more squeamish among us, the actual shooting is only suggested in the footage, keeping the proceedings largely bloodless.

Tjay previously addressed the shooting in “Beat The Odds,” his first video released after the incident and later detailed the advice 50 Cent — who was himself shot nine times at the outset of his own rap career — gave him about shaking it off and turning it into a greater drive for success. Of course, it’s clear that he’s still working on doing so; he’s been arrested for gun possession a couple of times this year, likely owing to increased paranoia over the trauma of being shot. Here’s hoping he can exorcise those demons.

Lil Wayne, Big Freedia, And Boyfriend Bring The Rain With ‘El Niño’

Two New Orleans legends link up to bring the rain with “El Niño,” a new track that sees Louisianans Lil Wayne and Big Freedia collaborating with Memphis multidisciplinarian Boyfriend for a triumphant celebration of survival. This is pretty much right up Big Freedia’s alley as a self-described gender-nonconforming, fluid, nonbinary drag queen from the home of Hurricane Katrina in the midst of the American Right’s collective campaign of attempted genocide of the queer community.

It also marks the first official collaboration between Freedia and Wayne, despite their shared roots. Wayne sampled Freedia on a 2003 mixtape and booked her for his Weezyana Festival in 2015, but this is the first time they’ve actually teamed up on a record. And while it would have been cool if it was a bounce track (both rappers have used the regional sound as a basis for some of their biggest hits), the throwback trap style actually makes it a cool departure for Freedia and a return to form for Wayne that underscores the import of the collaboration.

Meanwhile, Boyfriend is a frequent collaborator of Freedia’s who adds another perspective. In a press release, Freedia said, “El Niño’ is about going hard in any storms that come in your life and conquering them! It’s one of my favorite songs on this record, it features my longtime collaborator Boyfriend, and it’s also my first collab with Lil Wayne, who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. We put it down for our city, and this song is gonna have everyone blowin down!”

The track will appear on Freedia’s new album Central City, which is due this Friday, June 23. Listen to “El Niño” above.

Lil Baby Has New Music Coming Soon, He Confirms

Over the past nine months or so, we’ve only heard Lil Baby in small doses: features, teases, performances, and so on. However, his latest Instagram post suggests that he’s getting ready to drop something soon. Moreover, he posed on an ice cream cart with chips, which hopefully means he’s going to feed fans soon. In the post’s caption, the Atlanta rapper wrote, “Give Me A Date …………? #newmusicotw.” Whether that comes after a few days, weeks, or months remains to be seen, but there’s an avalanche of commenters asking him to drop something tomorrow.

Regardless, surely what was teased this week will hold fans over with enough conversation to last at least one more. After all, many believe that he took aim at Gunna in a new snippet that released in a video. “Some n***as taking pleas at trial, I know that slime ain’t happy,” he raps, and this comes just a week after his former collaborator’s last album a Gift & a Curse dropped. Furthermore, the Drip Season MC denied dissing Lil Baby on his album, and it actually seems like him and YSL aren’t as estranged as Internet debaters suggest. Wunna reposted Young Thug’s countdown on Instagram, and YSL promoted his new album as well.

Lil Baby’s Tease On Instagram

Though that may be true, perhaps a simple cosign from his peers won’t be enough to dissuade Lil Baby from his beliefs. Still, that just makes fans more anxious and eager to listen to what the 28-year-old drops next. Sure, all this excitement doesn’t mean that it’s been a complete drought for Baby on the musical end. We mentioned some features and singles like his brand new Gucci Mane collab “Bluffin’” and his solo track “Go Hard.

Meanwhile, others recently took to social media to clown the “Heyy” artist for reasons unrelated to his output. Of course, those are low blows to give, but his glitter fit certainly evoked more laughs than hate. Putting that aside, hopefully his next album or musical moves are no laughing matter, as fans are excited to see him return to prime form. With that in mind, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Baby.

Jack Harlow Posts Slick Fit Pics From Paris Fashion Week

Dozens and dozens of celebrities have been drawn to Paris this week to celebrate Paris Fashion Week. Among the many, MANY musicians in the fold are Jack Harlow. Earlier today he dropped a series of pics displaying his adventures throughout the week so far. The post’s primary picture sees Harlow looking pretty dapper in an all-black Givenchy suit. Many fans in the comments were quick to point out the contradiction in some particular lyrics from the rapper’s biggest hit “First Class.” The track contains the lyrics “You don’t need Givenchy, you need Jesus,” the double standard is obvious. Elsewhere in the comments, numerous fans made similar connections, claiming Harlow looked like a Jedi from Star Wars.

Elsewhere in the photos, Jack Harlow can be seen hanging out with Halle Berry and on a plane with longtime friend Urban Wyatt. He also made it a point to show off a specific rare Pokémon card he acquired in one of the pictures. The post’s caption reads “Put a sweet potato on the mac and make u pick a side,” which also sparked some confusion from commentors. Harlow’s post follows similar fit checks from artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce following the opening days of Fashion Week.

Jack Harlow Drops A Fit Check

Back in April, Jack Harlow surprise-released his new album, Jackman. The album has already received two videos most recently one for “Gang Gang Gang.” The somber and self-reflective video dropped a few weeks ago. Harlow posted teasers to social media of what the video would look like in the days before.

Jack Harlow has also been dealing with some beef recently. In a freestyle, he posted to his YouTube as part of an ongoing series, rapper Machine Gun Kelly brought Harlow up. His diss was a response to Harlow’s claim that he’s the best white rapper to do it since Eminem, which MGK took issue with. What do you think of Jack Harlow’s new fit pics from Paris Fashion Week? Let us know in the comment section below.

Air Jordan 38 Unveiled In “Fundamental” Colorway

Fans of Michael Jordan and his series of trademark sneakers have certainly been anticipating the Air Jordan 38 for some time. Overall, even now, the Jordan Brand core line continues to enjoy tremendous popularity. Over the years, there have been a ton of hits despite the fact that there have undoubtedly been some misses. The Jordan 37 is one of the best Air Jordan models in recent memory. Sneakerheads have automatically assumed that the Jordan 38 is a Jordan 8 homage as the Jordan 37 was a tribute to the Air Jordan 7.

Now, we are getting a look at the Jordan 38 in a “Fundamental” colorway. Also, this marks the first release of the Jordan 38, and we think it could be a big one. To be honest, there is nothing that can really compare with the Jordans from way back. For Jordan to put out a sneaker that does better than the Jordan 1 or 3, for example, would require some magic. That being said, the Jordan 38 is a fantastic sneaker. It will be exciting to see the future of this sneaker.

The first colorway of the Air Jordan 38 is definitely going to be a big one. The sneaker sports a clean, simple black and white design, with pops of siren red throughout. Also, the sole is an icy blue that shows a red base of the sneaker. There is a mesh siding that reveals more of the white interior. The sneakers feature red accents on the tongue, heels, and insoles. The sneaker is definitely built to hold up on the basketball court. Finally, Jordan Jumpman logos can be found on the tongues in white, with a black background.

Kodak Black’s Lawyer Compares His Case To Hunter Biden’s: “2 Tiers Of Justice?”

Kodak Black’s defense attorney, Bradford Cohen, recently shared his thoughts on Hunter Biden’s recent plea deal on social media. He shared a post on Instagram, where he expresses the hypocrisy that he feels surrounds the president’s son’s case. He claims that his client was treated unfairly, receiving a 3-year sentence for the same crime. Hunter Biden isn’t expected to serve any jail time for his charges. They include misdemeanor tax offenses and a felony charge of illegal possession of a firearm.

Kodak Black was contrastingly sentenced to almost four years in prison for his gun charge. He served around half of the 46-month sentence before receiving commutation from former President Donald Trump. He had pleaded guilty to falsifying federal paperwork in order to purchase a gun, and was released in January of 2021. “2 tiers of justice?” Cohen asked on Instagram, “Kodak was charged for the same crime. Got over 3 years.” “Mr. Biden will not serve a day,” he continued, “Feels right? Do FBI agents and federal authorities take cases personally? I’m going to discuss this on my subscriber page.”

Bradford Cohen Calls Out Hypocrisy

The attorney also discussed the matter on Fox News. “There’s no such thing as not getting jail time on a gun charge on any kind of gun charge,” Cohen explained, “I’ve never seen anyone where this offense was charged and they didn’t get some sort of prison sentence.” He went on, “And in fact, most of the time in federal court, you very rarely see people get anything but a prison sentence.” Cohen also added, “I think that this is like, you know, they figured the easiest way for them to save face [was] to charge him, not give him prison, and then hope that [Joe] Biden doesn’t give him a pardon until he’s on his way out two years.”

Cohen also recently shared his thoughts on YNW Melly’s current double murder trial earlier this month, claiming that it “will be a tough case for the prosecution.” He went on to say that “the case has built in reasonable doubt.” He also said “they can’t say someone else didn’t get in the car or someone else did the shooting.”

Gorillaz Cancel Their September U.S. Tour

Alternative rock group Gorillaz has been enjoying continued success since the release of their eighth studio album, Cracker Island. Unfortunately, they are canceling their upcoming September 2023 U.S. tour. Citing “scheduling conflicts,” the band, comprised of musician Damon Albarn and visual artist Jamie Hewlett, is no longer coming stateside. The tour was going to highlight Cracker Island at a few U.S. venues. They announced the concerts only a few weeks ago. Now, they’re pulling the plug.

Gorillaz is refunding their fans for the shows, which were going to feature plenty of collaborations. Some of the performers who were going to join included Lil Yachty, Kaytranada, and Remi Wolfe. Back in April, at Coachella, the band was on stage with Bad Bunny and De La Soul, among others. The U.S. venues included arenas in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and Austin, TX. Sadly, they will play at zero of those venues for the time being.

Gorillaz World Tour and What’s Next

LOS ANGELES, CA – APRIL 19: Damon Albarn of Gorillaz is seen arriving at the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show is seen on April 19, 2023, in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Hollywood To You/Star Max/GC Images)

Back in 2022, Gorillaz went on a massive World Tour where they debuted plenty of new material from what would end up being the tracklist of Cracker Island. For that tour, they traveled to South America, Europe, Australia, and North America. However, they ran into show cancelations on that tour as well. A scheduled performance in Queensland, Australia, was shut down due to torrential rain. In February of this year, they released a deluxe version of Cracker Island, adding five bonus tracks.

Unluckily, Gorillaz knows plenty about canceling promising projects. Earlier this year, the band paired up with Netflix to produce a movie Albarn and Hewlett had been conceptualizing for a long time. However, due to cutbacks in Netflix’s animation department, the streaming giant scrapped the film. A victim of streaming content saturation, Gorillaz shelved the movie indefinitely. Hopefully, the band can get back out there soon. Perhaps they’ll find another time to grace America with their unique sound in front of thousands of people.

Titanic Submersible Passengers Declared Dead: Report

If you have been watching the news lately, then you know that the Titanic Submersible has been a huge story. Although, it is a big story for all of the wrong reasons. Essentially, give men embarked on a huge trip down to the Titanic wreckage. This tourist expedition cost $250K and was being operated by OceanGate Expeditions. Overall, it was not a safe thing to do, and the vessel itself was already under scrutiny. However, things ultimately took quite a turn as the submersible lost contact with those communicating with it.

For the last few days, both the United States and Canada have been trying to look for the submersible. This mission has been a difficult one, especially since no one knows what truly happened. Although, some believed that they were simply stuck and about to run out of oxygen. Today, however, it was revealed that some debris was found not far from where the Titanic wreckage is. This had many believing that the submersible had just imploded at a certain depth.

Titanic Submersible Debris Found

This afternoon, OceanGate offered a statement on the expedition. It was here that they confirmed that all five passengers of the Titanic Submersible are dead. With the debris having been found, they are almost positive that the sub imploded and that everyone on board died instantly. Overall, it is a massive tragedy that certainly could have been avoided. Either way, this is horrible news for all of the families of those who were on that vessel.

Now that this information has been divulged, it will be interesting to see where OceanGate goes from here. Their CEO Stockton Rush was actually on the submersible, and some are already blaming him for cutting costs. Ultimately, this whole situation is a giant mess, and we can’t imagine there is very much trust OceanGate. Let us know what you think about all of this, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the world.
