Will Tom Brady ever fully retire? It’s a question that has divided scholars for a number of years now. Of course, Brady initially retired in 2021 before un-retiring to play another season in 2022. After that season, Brady again retired and appeared to be done for good. He expressed excitement about beginning his broadcast deal with Fox in 2024 and spending time away from football. One of the few football things he has publicly done is buy a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaking of the Raiders, they are having an interesting offseason. After parting ways with long-time starting quarterback Derek Carr, the Raiders searched high and low for his replacement. Maybe they could trade up in the draft or trade down for one of the many young exciting backups already in the league? Maybe they could go big after one of the veteran free agents? Instead, the Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo, the 31-year-old veteran fresh off a season-ending foot injury. In fact, the Raiders hedged so hard on Garoppolo that they had him sign an injury waiver.

With Garoppolo’s waiver clause, and the news that the foot injury will need surgery, rumors about Brady suiting up in the Black and Silver began to silver. Behind Jimmy G, the Raiders current QB room is career backup Brian Hoyer, fourth-round rookie Aiden O’Connell, and 2022 undrafted free agent Chase Garbers. Not exactly inspiring but could be worse. However, that has led a number of people, including TMZ, to wonder if Brady could legally take the field for the Raiders as a last resort.

Turns out that the answer is yes. According to an NFL spokesperson who answer questions from TMZ, as long as Brady passes two votes from the NFL owners, he could both own the Raiders and start under center for them. The first vote is one that Brady needs to pass regardless of any desire to play. That’s the vote from NFL ownership to approve his purchase of an ownership stake in the Raiders. However, the second vote, again taken by the NFL owners, would specifically be about whether they would approve of Brady taking the field. Furthermore, both votes hold a three-fourths majority threshold, meaning Brady would need the support of 28 NFL owners. While the first vote is expected to pass easily, there is definitely a chance that the owners would object to Brady retaking the field. Of course, all of this is purely speculation as Brady, for now, is very keen to stay retired.

DeMarcus Cousins Finds Second Wind In Puerto Rico

DeMarcus Cousins last played in the NBA in 2022. Across the 2021-22 season, Cousins played in 48 games in stints with the Bucks and Nuggets. However, the 32-year-old center was unable to find a team ahead of the 2022-23 season and began the new basketball year without a job.

Instead, Boogie took his talents to Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Joining partway through the 2023 season, people are starting to take notice of his play in the league. Highlight reels showing dominant play from the journeyman have gotten people wondering if the NBA is missing out on Cousins’ talent. Despite this, Cousins’ actual stats telling a slightly dimmer, but in still impressive, story.

Is Boogie Actually Dominating In Puerto Rico?

Despite the impressive video reels, is Boogie actually a god in the Puerto Rican league? In short – not really. At 12 games played this season, he barely qualifies for statistical acknowledgment. Furthermore, Cousins is second in average turnovers, at 3.4 per game. Additionally, while Cousins’ team, Mets de Guaynabo, is on a five-game winning streak, they are still only fourth in the league standings.

So no, Boogie has not become a god amongst mortals in the Puerto Rican league. Granted, he is putting together a very impressive season but not league-leading. Furthermore, looking at an NBA comparison this season puts Boogie’s (12-game) stat line on par with a slightly worse shooting Julius Randle (25.1 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 4.1 apg). Randle, while a solid contributor, was by no means an MVP candidate this year. Another comparison, and one at Cousins’ position, would be Domantas Sabonis (19.1 ppg, 12.3 rpg, 7.3 apg). Fivio Foreign is one of the leaders of the current movement in Brooklyn drill. Overall, he is a veteran in the game who continues to prove his talents. However, for a lot of mainstream fans, they really garnered respect for him thanks to his verse on Kanye West’s “Off The Grid.” The Donda cut that also features Playboi Carti was a huge hit, and Fivio gained quite a few fans from that. Earlier today, the artist surprised people with a new song called “Concussion” that features none other than Kanye West. Of course, these two have a history together. However, it was still surprising seeing as though Ye has not hinted at any new music as of late. Moreover, Fivio had given no indication that the song would be released. As it turns out, he has dropped an eight-song EP called Without Warning, and it can be found on SoundCloud.
