Now That J. Cole Is A Professional Basketball Player, He’s Even Getting His Own ‘NBA 2K’ Cover
J. Cole’s hoop dreams have been well-documented, but I don’t know if even he thought he’d get this far. After playing professionally for two different teams — one in the Basketball Africa League and one in the Canadian Elite Basketball League — he’s achieved many a hoop star’s ultimate dream of appearing on the cover of NBA 2K. That’s right, the latest edition of the long-running basketball simulation video game, NBA 2K23, will be released with a special Dreamer Edition cover featuring none other than Mr. Dollar And A Dream himself, J. Cole.
Cole is also set to appear in the game’s popular MyCareer story mode and as a playable character model, harkening back to the days when players could dunk on opponents with the likes of Nelly and the St. Lunatics in NBA Street Vol. 2 (hopefully, this just means we’re one step closer to Cole, Drake, and Kendrick appearing in a reboot of Def Jam: Fight For NY). Cole’s longtime partners and fellow Dreamville artists Bas and Elite will apparently also appear in the story mode to help the player earn the rapper’s respect. Naturally, there’ll be plenty of Dreamville representation on the soundtrack, which has always featured the hottest contemporary artists in hip-hop — a box Cole and crew certainly check.
In a statement, Cole says, “NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture. It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, and soundtrack and bring the Dreamer brand into NBA 2K.
NBA 2K23 is out September 9. The Dreamer Edition will be available at Gamestop in the US and Canada, then presumably on StockX or some other third-party site for double the price.
The ‘She-Hulk’ Megan Thee Stallion Twerking Scene Happened Thanks To Tatiana Maslany
At long last, after months of rumors, Megan Thee Stallion has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Her debut on the show was certainly notable, as it included a scene where she and Jen Walters/She-Hulk twerked. It turns out a major reason why that moment happened is because Tatiana Maslany, She-Hulk herself, is a big-time Meg enthusiast.
Kat Coiro, the episode’s director, told TVLine, “The dancing was actually added to the script on the day, because Tatiana was so excited. She’s the world’s biggest Megan Thee Stallion fan and we were like, ‘We’ve gotta give her something,’ so they threw together this dancing scene.”

Maslany laughed and said, “Yeah, that was me! That was all me.” She also said the moment “was a dream come true.” She added, “It was like one of my absolute top moments on set, of anything I’ve ever done. I was shaking and I was nervous, and then the music played and I was like, ‘I’m in a Megan Thee Stallion music video!’”
Coiro also noted that despite all the show’s CGI, that truly was Maslany holding her own as she twerked (wearing a motion-capture suit) with Meg: “Yes, she’s a CGI character in that [scene], but that is all Tatiana twerking, 100 percent.”

A ‘She-Hulk’ Producer Breaks Down Why And How Megan Thee Stallion Popped Up On The Show
The new Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law has been all people are talking about for many reasons, including the fact that Megan Thee Stallion made a cameo. After it was off-handedly confirmed in a recent profile on the rapper, fans were excited, and now even more so that the scene finally came out in today’s (September 1) episode “The People vs. Emil Blonsky.”
In a new interview with TVLine about the show, the head writer and executive producer Jessica Gao told the publication about casting Meg. “We knew that for that story, we needed a famous, beautiful, successful woman… We were going through all the possibilities… but when it came down to it, Jameela [Jamil, who plays Titania] knew Megan from working on [HBO Max’s] Legendary together, and she brought her up. We were like, ‘Don’t say it if it’s not really true! Don’t tease us with this!’”
Who wouldn’t want to have Meg on their show; she’s been having a massive year with the release of her highly anticipated album Traumazine, which contained lots of major features, like with Latto, Future, Dua Lipa, Rico Nasty, Pooh Shiesty, Key Glock, and Jhene Aiko.
Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West Announces Plans To Launch Yeezy Stores In Every State
Despite defining music and fashion in the past decade, it seems like Kanye’s partnerships with Adidas and GAP aren’t going as well as planned. Ye accused both adidas and GAP of stealing his designs for their own non-Yeezy products, which has led to an even bigger strain in his relationships with both companies.

Last night, after posting a video of an impassioned speech with the GAP executives where he said that he’d leave if he wasn’t granted a position on the board, it appears he’s already begun plotting actual storefronts for the Yeezy brand, beginning in Atlanta.
“We are going to open a Yeezy stores world wide starting in Atlanta,” he wrote. “Who would be the best to open it? I’ll buy the land and/or building. Then we gonna open up in every state and then internationally. Anyone who has over 10 years retail experience and is ready to change the world post your Instagram handle or store location in the comments and we’ll find you,” he continued. He continued to rail against GAP and Adidas, who he said contractually agreed to build permanent stores for Yeezy brand products. “I saved both of those companies at the same time,” he said before concluding, “I’ma show you how to use social media.”
The second slide included a screenshot of a Facetime call with 2 Chainz, who is wearing Yeezy Gap sunglasses. “2 Chainz said he got the mayor(‘s) number I added the s cause my mama was head of the English department But this may take some incorrect English to get done,” he wrote.
Ye immediately received offers from a slew of his peers and friends in the entertainment and fashion world. Justin LaBoy revealed that Lawrence Berger of Mitchell & Ness was interested in taking up a meeting with Ye. Pusha T and Fivio Foreign also chimed in with interest in launching Yeezy stores in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York City.

Serena Williams Shows Off Virgil Abloh-Inspired Custom Nike Air Force 1 Low
Serena Williams is currently making big waves at the US Open. Last night, she upset the number 2 seeded women’s tennis player, and now, she is off to the third round as she tries to win the title in her last-ever tournament. It would be the perfect send-off for Williams who has proven herself to be one of the most dominant athletes of all time.
Heading into this tournament, Nike is making sure that Serena is able to get everything done in style. Recently, the company sent her a box filled with some incredible custom kicks, and for the most part, Williams received a ton of Nike Air Force 1 Lows, which seems to be her favorite shoe.
Of all of the sneakers in the haul, Serena’s favorite was the one created by Virgil Abloh prior to his death. As you can see in the video clip down below, the shoe has all of Virgil’s signature design techniques. In terms of the colorway, we are met with a grey upper that has some yellow accents. This is a shoe inspired by a Tutu Williams once wore while out on the court, and it is clear these shoes have sentimental value for her.
It remains to be seen how the rest of the US Open will go for Serena, but if there is one thing for sure, it’s that the entire sports world is watching.
Wack 100, Tyrese & Twitter Are In Disbelief Over Stacey Dash’s DMX Video
Stacey Dash had the Internet in shambles last night after she shared an emotional video discussing DMX’s death. Apparently, she only became aware that the Ruff Ryders rapper passed away this week after scrolling on Instagram. The news hit close to home as Stacey Dash also faced her own struggles with addiction in the past. She revealed that she’s been sober for over six years.

“I didn’t know. From a cocaine overdose. I am today six years and one month clean. It breaks my heart that he lost to it. Please don’t lose,” she said tearfully. She added in the caption, “I was strolling through #tiktok and found a #DMX song that has saved me many times. Suddenly it says #RIP i know I am late, i did not know he passed away, he #OD I am heartbroken – he was such a great guy.”
People weren’t necessarily compassionate towards her recent realization, especially since it’s been roughly a year and a half since DMX died. As Twitter clowned her for the tearful video, people like Wack 100 and Tyrese also chimed in. “Gotta be drugs,” Wack wrote in the TheShadeRoom’s comments. Tyrese wrote in disbelief, “Ain’t no way this real.”
Twitter also had plenty to say, as well. Wayno referenced Avengers after coming across her video. “Stacy Dash just got back from the Blip in endgame or some shit?” he wrote.
