SOURCE SPORTS: Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson Retires Due to Neck Injury

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has announced his retirement from the NFL. According to ESPN, Carson is retiring due to a neck injury. The Seahawks released Carson on Tuesday with a failed physical designation.

“Ever since the first time I saw Chris on film, I loved his style, and I was thrilled when we were able to get him when we did,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said in a statement. “To see him grow and become such an impacting part of our program with such a great style and all of that, it was a thrill to watch. We’ll miss him and everything he brought to our program.”

“He’s been an incredible pro, a guy who brings an amazing energy about him. His running style is what we’ve always wanted here in Seattle,” said Seahawks general manager John Schneider. “He’s the type of runner that the whole team feeds off of. The type of player defensive players get off the bench to watch him run –they can feel his energy. He’s the type of runner whose style affects the whole team, not just the offense.

“It’s a big disappointment. We took it as long as we possibly could with him, he saw a number of specialists, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to pass our physical.”

During his career, Carson had a stellar 2018 with 1,151 yards and nine touchdowns, making him Seattle’s first 1,000-yard rusher since Marshawn Lynch. He followed that year with another 1,000-yard season, bringing in 1,230 yards and seven touchdowns.

Starz has announced season two of Power Book III: Raising Kanan to premiere on August 14.

Raising Kanan tells the origin story of Kanan Stark and how he entered an underworld of crime via his mom, who runs the drug empire. “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” had one of the top performing first seasons in STARZ history, with an average of approximately 9M viewers across platforms in its first season.

The description for season two is below:

Raquel ‘Raq’ Thomas has gained control over the city’s drug trade, but her son is slipping away. Kanan Stark returns to Queens uncertain of his future with the family business, and because of Detective Howard’s lingering secret, he’s even more uncertain of his past. Kanan searches for the truth while Raq boldly expands the business into hostile Mafia territory. Lou-Lou has other plans that revolve around his emerging record label, but Raq isn’t about to let his side hustle get in the way of her expansion. Although Marvin remains Raq’s loyal soldier, he struggles to earn Jukebox’s forgiveness and become the father she deserves. The ties that bind this family are becoming undone, but Raq will stop at nothing to hold them together.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan stars MeKai Curtis, Patina Miller (Into The Woods, “Madam Secretary”), Omar Epps (“House,” Love and Basketball), London Brown (“Ballers”), Malcolm Mays (“Them,” “Snowfall”), Hailey Kilgore (“Amazing Stories”), Joey Bada$$ (Two Distant Strangers), Shanley Caswell (The Conjuring) and Antonio Ortiz (“High Fidelity,” “The Sinner”).

Along with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Courtney A. Kemp, Sascha Penn is back as the show’s creator and executive producer. The Power Universe series is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, Courtney A. Kemp through her production company End of Episode, and Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM. Chris Selak, Shana Stein, and Bart Wenrich from End of Episode also serve as executive producers. Additionally, Kevin Fox is the executive producer. The show is created by Lionsgate Television for STARZ.

Haunted House Inspired by The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ Album Headed to Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood

The Weeknd is collaborating for the first time ever with Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights to create brand-new, horrifying haunted houses based on his critically acclaimed After Hours album. Visitors can experience The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare starting on September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort and on September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The Weeknd is known for creating unique music that combines audacious, provocative lyrics with cutting-edge sounds and menacing undertones. The Weeknd’s fourth straight number-one album, After Hours, produced a series of top-charting singles, including “Too Late,” “Heartless,” “In Your Eyes,” and the hugely successful song “Blinding Lights,” which Billboard named the greatest Hot 100 hit of all time. Select songs from the compelling album are being transformed into a horror movie soundtrack for Halloween Horror Nights’ obscenely eerie experience this fall.

“I always wanted my own Halloween Horror Nights haunted house as Halloween has always been significant to my music, so this is a total dream come to life. I feel like my music videos have served as a launching pad for a collaboration like this, and I cannot wait for people to experience this madness!” said The Weeknd.

The brand-new Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses on both coasts will be infused with the sinister undercurrent that drives The Weeknd’s mysterious persona. Visitors will enter a surreal living nightmare with grotesque characters and themes inspired by The Weeknd’s music and short films while the spooky sounds of “After Hours” echo throughout the experience. Guests will be challenged to survive the night while trapped within the terrifying, unexpected world of “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare” – a place that only exists in The Weeknd’s vivid imagination and from which one may never escape. They will be stalked by slashers, bandaged maniacs, gruesome toad-like creatures, and other unfathomable horrors from the artist’s mind.

“We are thrilled to take guests inside of the mind of The Weeknd, who is a Halloween Horror Nights fan himself,” said John Murdy, Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.  “This is an unprecedented haunted house that is going to shatter the expectations of our guests and immerse them in an unforgettable experience that is equally unexpected and terrifying,” added Charles Gray, Senior Show Director for Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort. 

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort starts on Friday, September 2, and all tickets are currently on sale. Online discounts are available for single-night tickets, as well as a number of Frequent Fear Pass options that let visitors experience the horror for several nights.

GORDO Announces Five-Hour Dance Set for Pershing Square in Los Angeles

GORDO, formerly known as Carnage, has set his eyes on Pershing Square in Los Angeles for a solo gig on Saturday, August 20. The show is in collaboration with Framework, one of America’s top underground house music event producers.

GORDO continues to rule the West Coast after last week’s TARAKA San Francisco announcement, which sold out in less than two hours. He has plans to turn Los Angeles’ Pershing Square into a tech-house mecca. GORDO will lead attendees on a five-hour dance journey during the event that will be infused with musical influences from his recent European Summer Tour, which saw him perform in cities including Ibiza, Tel Aviv, Athens, Mallorca, Mykonos, Helsinki, Berlin, and Vienna.

As GORDO makes his way to Los Angeles with a jam-packed discography of tech-heavy sounds, Pershing Square will add to its illustrious lineup of performances, which has previously included bands like Hot Since 82, Solomun, Four Tet, and Floating Points.

The park, which is in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, will be transformed into the best outdoor sanctuary for dance music. Before Pershing Square closes to undergo renovation, GORDO has the distinction of performing the last show there.

Three months after ending his run as Carnage with a sold-out “Thank You” tour that began at the Avalon Hollywood, moved on to take over New York City, and finished in Houston, Texas, Diamanté Blackmon returns to the city with new vitality, a new sound, a new name, and an entirely different musical experience. GORDO is ready to deliver a legendary and unforgettable performance as he now fuses his ever-expanding enthusiasm for house music with some of Europe’s finest musical inspirations. He just returned from his European Summer Tour.

Megan Thee Stallion Says She’s Finished Next Album, Teases Sauce Walka Collab

Although recent news stated that she was named in a copyright infringement lawsuit, a court case isn’t stopping Megan Thee Stallion’s hustle. The Houston rapper has been jet-setting around the world as festival season has kept her booked and busy, but it’s not just concerts that have occupied her time. As her “Plan B” single continues to rack up streaming numbers, Megan revealed today (July 26) that she has completed his sophomore album.

The announcement came as a brief mention on her Instagram Story that showed that the rapper was in the studio.

“So happy abt my album [fire emoji] it’s finished [fire emoji] it’s for the hotties [fire emoji] it’s honest [fire emoji] it’s me [fire emoji] it’s real [ fire emoji,” she wrote over the image. In another Story slide, Megan also teased a collaboration with fellow Houston artist Sauce Walka. “Ya spill me [water emojis],” she wrote while tagging the rapper in the post.

It doesn’t seem like either of them is looking to give out any hints as to what to expect, as Sauce reposted Megan’s Story but didn’t add any context. Thee Stallion’s fans are already questioning her about when they can expect the album to arrive, but we’ll all have to wait for more information. The project follows a string of releases from Megan including 2021’s Something for the Hotties, and 2020’s double drops of her debut Good News and mixtape Suga.

Lil Duval Undergoes Surgery After Car Hit Him While He Was On A 4-Wheeler

Typically, you can find Lil Duval tweeting away jokes at some pop culture figure’s expense or sparking viral conversations with his outlandish takes, but there was a more serious tone this evening (July 26). Kind words and well wishes are being offered to the comedian after he shared a video that showed him being transported to a local hospital via a medical helicopter. 

In the clip, Duval winced in pain while on a gurney as medical professionals attended to him. His arm was bandaged and there looked to be another injury on his ribs. In the caption, he offered a brief update of what occurred.

“Somebody hit me in they car while i was on my 4 wheeler,” he said. “Now my leg broke and i gotta get flown over to nassau and have surgery.”

It didn’t take long before Duval’s comment section was flooded with concerned messages, but most were happy to see that he would be okay, albeit on the mend. T.I. wrote, “Maaaaaan I’m gon pray that you get well first. Then find it in yo heart to sitcho old ass down somewhere & rest big bro…. Amen [praying hands emoji].”

Bun B, 2 Chainz, Angela Simmons, Michael Blackson, Matt Barnes, Terrence J, and several others were also stunned by the video, but are optimistic about a quick recovery.
