There is a lot going on during tonight’s Verzuz. Usually, we’ve found that prior to artists taking to the Verzuz stage, there are opposing DJs who get the crowd hyped for the show. The main event was slated to be Omarion and Mario, but the popular streaming series decided this time, they wanted a pre-show that featured Ray J, Bobby V, Pleasure P, and Sammie. Fans were excited to see several artists on the bill.

Omarion and Mario’s headlining Verzuz was set to begin at 7:50 p.m. PT/10:50 p.m. ET, but things were a tad delayed. Ray, Bobby, P, and Sammie were understandably excited to have their Verzuz moment, but as it dragged on, fans in the comment section became restless.

To begin, like the other Verzuz shows, there was trash-talking from the four hitmakers. They bragged about their No. 1 songs, who owned their masters, who has been in the industry longer, and whose songs were better. For a group of men who gave us romance and bedroom slow jams, commenters stated that at times their delivery was more about ego than anything else.

However, we did revisit a few favorites including some Pretty Ricky hits, Lil Wayne’s “Mrs. Officer,” Sammie’s “I Like,” as well as other tracks that each of the pre-show artists have written, produced, or were featured on.

Reactions to this pre-show have taken over timelines, and at the time of this publication, the main event has yet to begin. Check out a few tweets and highlights below.

This isn’t the Playboy of yesteryear as the brand has been making major shifts. In recent years, Playboy has undergone changes that usher itself into a new era, and in December 2021, it was announced that Cardi B would take over as the brand’s Creative Director. It is the first time a partnership such as this has been executed by Playboy, but it has been reported that they saw massive growth during the rapper’s tenure.

Meanwhile, celebrities and other public figures are taking advantage of Playboy‘s re-branding, including Jordyn Woods who revealed that she, too, linked with Playboy for a moment of her own.

Last year, the model and influencer joined OnlyFans like several of her peers, and now, it seems that she’s entered the zone of Playboy Centerfold. Woods uploaded a sexy photo of herself and in the caption added: “Excited to announce my newest partnership with @playboycenterfold @playboy [red heart emoji] link is in bio for all of the exclusive content.”

Viewers who click Woods’s link will find her official Centerfold profile along with a handful of other tantalizing images from the star. It is expected that more famous figures like Woods will be making similar announcements in the months to come.

Playboy added, “We’re so excited to welcome Jordyn to CENTERFOLD, as an advocate for body positivity, mental health, and female empowerment – you don’t want to miss out on her posts.”

The public has had quite a bit to say about Kevin Gates and his wife Dreka in recent weeks. The Hip Hop couple not only gained fame thanks to the rapper’s talents, but they often shared portions of their personal lives with the world via social media. The Gates’ were known for their unconventional relationship and didn’t have any concerns about addressing it publicly, but after Kevin Gates was spotted with Love & Hip Hop Miami star Jojo Zarur, the rumor mill was fueled with gossip.

All sorts of stories churned through the internet as people alleged that the Gates’ were no longer together, and the rapper himself seemingly confirmed there was trouble in paradise when he referenced his wife in a song.

Meanwhile, Gates continued to make social media appearances with Zarur, but today (June 23), videos surfaced online of Kevin and Dreka Gates with their children hosting a meet and greet for his recently released album, Khaza.

It is unclear if Dreka has continued to act as her husband’s booking manager, but they seemed all smiles at the event with their children by their sides. This sighting has only reignited interest in their relationship, but Dreka is keeping her thoughts away from the public.

He was climbing the ranks of fame as the star of Netflix’s Cheer, but as quickly as he rose was as fast as he fell. In 2019, it was discovered that there was an investigation launched against Jerry Harris following allegations that he used his position as a cheerleading coach to lure minors into inappropriate activities. 

TMZ reported that Harris pleaded “guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography, and one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.” As his sentencing approaches, it has been stated that the U.S. Attorney’s Office is looking for a 15-year sentence.

The Daily Beast added that under the law, guidelines state that Harris should receive a 50-year sentence, but prosecutors have exercised compassion due to the streaming star’s background.

“Like many child predators, Harris took advantage of a power imbalance to sexually exploit his young victims,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Guzman is said to have written in a court filing. “He preyed on the insecurity and youth of boys in the cheerleading community to abuse them.”

Joshua Herman, Harris’s attorney, also filed court documents where he claimed that his client was sexually abused as a child on multiple occasions.

“These experiences warped Jeremiah’s view of ‘normal’ relationships, especially given how they occurred alongside social media and within the ecosystem of the Cheer community,” wrote Herman.

In addition to the sought-after 15-year sentence, prosecutors alleged requested that Harris undergo 10 years of supervised release following his stint in prison. Harris’s team hopes that he will be locked up for six years with eight years of supervised release.

Harris will reportedly face sentencing next week on June 28.

As more reports of Lil Tjay near-fatal shooting arise, many of his peers are sending the New York rapper well wishes. As we previously reported, Tjay was said to have been in New Jersey with two friends when the trio became victims of an attempted robbery. Reports stated that the rapper and one of his associates were shot during the fray, and later, an arrest was made.

Mohamed Konate, 27, has reportedly been tacked with several charges including armed robbery and attempted murder. Tjay reportedly underwent emergency surgery and is said to be recovering well, but he allegedly remains unconscious.

French Montana weighed in on Tjay’s plight during a chat with TMZ.

“I know he’s been rushed in from one hospital to another, so I pray for his family,” French said before being asked if he. “No, I haven’t spoken to him. I heard he’s in critical condition… It’s a bad situation.”

“It’s hard out here for rappers, man. We got the hardest job,” he added. The TMZ correspondent wanted to know why rappers are targets. “You don’t know where it comes from, man. We think that everybody love us but everybody don’t love us.”
