Haim Explain How Their Recent Drake Meet-Up Was A Coincidence ‘Like Something Out Of A Movie’

Around this time last month, Drake and Haim met up in Toronto, with Drake sharing a smile-heavy photo of the encounter and writing, “Just met the Beatles.” While it made sense that the two would meet in Drake’s hometown, what hadn’t been made clear is how Drake and Haim actually crossed paths. Now, though, the Haim sisters have shared how it happened: pure coincidence.

According to a new NME interview, the story goes:

Alana: “We literally landed in Toronto, and went to the first restaurant we saw… it’s like something out of a movie. We were at this random restaurant and Drake showed up.”

Danielle: “It sounds like folklore, like a mythic story.”

Alana: “But that’s what happened!”

Este: “We were straight-up wearing our clothes from the plane, to see Drake.”

Alana: “Well, we didn’t know! It’s pretty crazy.”

Este: “But that’s what I’m saying, we didn’t know and he showed up and I was wearing pajamas and Uggs and no make-up and acne medication, to meet Drake.”

Alana: “It was great.”

As for what the band’s up to now, Alana said, “We’re always writing, it never stops. I think the biggest thing is being away from touring for two years was the most heartbreaking for us, we’ve always considered ourselves a touring band. We love playing live, and we just did our tour in the states and in a couple of weeks we get to do our UK tour, and we’re just so excited. We’re playing The O2 arena!”

Eminem Is ‘PIssed Off’ About The Supreme Court Overturning Roe V. Wade: ‘We Are F*ckin’ Goin’ Backwards’

Although Eminem has always had a reputation as something of a provocateur, in recent years, a lot of his most inflammatory statements have been reserved for current events as his targets shifted from pop stars to political figures. In 2017, he went after Donald Trump multiple times, most notably during his BET Hip-Hop Award Cypher verse and during an appearance at the Reading Festival in the UK. More recently, he took a knee in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick’s 2016 protests against racial injustice during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, an action that riled some conservative commentators.

So it should come as no surprise that Eminem has similarly weighed in on the biggest political shift of the past week — or even of the past fifty years. Last week, the Supreme Court voted to overturn one of the landmark rulings of the past century, Roe V. Wade. The move prompted an outcry from celebrities and musicians of all stripes, with singers like Lorde and Phoebe Bridgers leading “f*ck the Supreme Court” chants and Kendrick Lamar calling for the protection of women’s rights during their performances at Glastonbury.

Eminem has joined this cadre of outspoken pop stars, tweeting, “As a father, it pisses me off that women have fewer rights 2day than just a few days ago. We r fuckin goin bckwards.” The proud Detroiter also provided a resource link in his tweet, writing, “Here’s how to help in Michigan.”

You don’t have to be a father to appreciate that many people feel unsafe as a result of this new landmark ruling and that there’s a sense that things can certainly get worse from here. However, there may be a bright side: When even Donald Trump admits that the move was a strategic mistake for the Republican Party, potentially galvanizing Democrats in the Senate to do… literally anything, there might just be some course correction in the near future.

French Montana Says He’s The First Male Artist From “The Mecca” To Go Diamond

French Montana is fresh off of the release of his best project in years, Montegawith Harry Fraud. Although French has a history of creating hit records, the court of public opinion has attempted to strip him of his credibility as an artist over time. However, French has made a concerted effort to remind the people of his accomplishments throughout his career.

During a recent interview with Million Dollaz Worth Of Game, French made a bold claim that he was the first male artist from “the Mecca of hip-hop” to go diamond. It was unclear whether he meant New York City as a whole or just the Bronx but people quickly attempted to refute this claim.

“I’m the first male artist from the Mecca of hip-hop to go diamond,” said French before Wallo and Gillie asked that he repeat his claims. “I’m the first male artist from the Mecca of hip-hop — the Bronx — and the first African-born artist to go diamond. That’s different.”

Per No Jumper, Biggie Smalls’ Life After Death was certified diamond by 2000. However, the RIAA website indicates that French doesn’t actually have a platinum record. “Unforgettable” ft. Swae Lee is the closest record to reaching that milestone at 9x platinum back in 2021. Although it’s possible that it has sold 10M units, the RIAA website does not reflect that. While he did specify being the first male artist to go diamond, it’s worth noting that Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” ft. J Balvin and Bad Bunny have previously reached diamond certification.

BET Awards Honors Kevin Samuels During In Memoriam: Fans React

BET honored controversial influencer Kevin Samuels during the in memoriam segment for the network’s awards ceremony on Sunday. The decision was met with backlash by fans on social media who have been critical of Samuels.

“BET putting Roe v. Wade and Kevin Samuels in an ‘in memoriam’ segment was the idea of someone who is extremely online and needs to touch grass,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Other users pointed to the absence of Lil Nas X at the BET Awards.

“Lil nas x wasn’t nominated at the BET awards but Kevin Samuels was honored. Lol,” another user wrote.

Nas has voiced his frustration with being left off on social media and in a diss track aimed at the network titled, “Late to Da Party.” The song features YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

“My relationship with BET has been painful and strained for quite some time. It didn’t start with this year’s nominations like most people might think,” Nas told Rolling Stone in a statement. “They did let me perform on their show last year, but only after [I gave] assurances that I was not a satanist or devil worshiper, and that my performance would be appropriate for their audience.”

Some users defended Samuels’ inclusion, citing his efforts to help out the Black community.

“It really blows my mind the hypocrisy in our own culture,” one supporter of Samuels wrote. “People really have a problem with the #BETawards2022 including Kevin Samuels in the memoriam. He was a black man trying to help our people! Y’all act like he was a terrorist or something. Sad.”

Samuels passed away after experiencing chest pains at age 56 on May 5, 2022.

Lil Durk Pushes Man For Disrespecting King Von, 6ix9ine Reacts

Lil Durk is fresh off of the release of 7220 (Deluxe), which will earn him an estimated boost of 75K units in sales this week. And while many have celebrated the project’s release, a recent concert didn’t necessarily go as smoothly as he’d likely want it. Footage emerged on Sunday of the rapper getting into a heated confrontation with a fan who was allegedly disrespecting King Von. Durk scolds the individual before lightly shoving him.

A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akademiks)

As the footage went viral, it didn’t take long for 6ix9ine to chime in on the matter. Under one of Akademiks’ post, the rapper claimed that Von was “rolling in the flames of hell.” “Fan held his ground didn’t even flinch,” 6ix9ine commented. “Von rolling in the flames of hell.” He later commented on another video that captured the altercation from another angle. “The fan saw right past the “ACT/persona” .. he wasn’t scared. If it wasn’t for the security that boy was steppin by himself,” he wrote.

While Durk didn’t respond to 6ix9ine, his doppelganger, Perkio, took some shots towards the Brooklyn rapper. “We touch [rat emoji] in Miami they ain’t talking bout it,” Perkio wrote under a TikTok reaction video titled “Lil Durk finally respond to 6ix9ine.” When a user called him out for trying to “act like somebody else,” Perkio fired back, “My life was alr on the line when that shii happened what u talm bout?”

We’ll keep you posted on any more responses from Lil Durk or 6ix9ine.
