Muni Long Announces Her Upcoming EP On The Tail Of Her Breakout BET Awards Performance
Fans of Muni Long‘s breakout single “Hrs And Hrs” have helped make the songwriting star one of R&B’s biggest success stories of the past year, and today, she’s announced her impending follow-up to her debut EP, Public Displays Of Affection. Fittingly, it’s titled Public Displays Of Affection Too and it’s due July 1 via Supergiant/Def Jam Recordings. Clocking in at five tracks, it contains one guest feature from Saweetie and will contain Muni Long’s new singles “Another” and “Pain.”
The former aspiring country star — she released a twangy project under her real name, Priscilla Renea, in 2018 — made the switch to R&B for her 2021 EP after writing songs for the likes of Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Selena Gomez, and more, a move that paid off big time. “Hrs And Hrs” became a huge smash thanks to a viral trend on TikTok and since then, Muni Long has gone on to work with pop R&B juggernauts like John Legend, appearing on his new single “Honey.” Muni Long’s coronation came at last night’s BET Awards, where she performed her breakout hit on stage amid performances by Latto, Chance The Rapper, Doechii, and more. Johnny Depp Might Reprise “Pirates” Jack Sparrow Role In $301M Deal: Report
Johnny Depp’s long-winded legal battle against his ex-wife Amber Heard finally came to an end last year with the jury ruling in his favor. The famed actor faced scrutiny following Heard’s op-ed alleging domestic abuse and sexual assault. This led Depp to lose significant amounts of money and massive roles including Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates Of The Caribbean movie series.

A new report from Australian news outlet Poptopic revealed that Disney is allegedly interested in seeing the iconic character return to the big screen in the next film. A source close to Disney said, “the deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow.”
“Disney are very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp,” the source told the outlet. “They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another ‘Pirates’ film or two.”
The 2016 op-ed that led Disney to sever their ties with Johnny Depp cost the actor $22.5M but the rumored deal is reportedly worth $301M. Apparently, Disney is interested in bringing Jack Sparrow back for “Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and a spin-off Disney+ series about the early life of the Captain of the Black Pearl.”
“What I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow, so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character,” the source added.
Disney nor Johnny Depp have confirmed whether there’s any truth to the claims of Jack Sparrow’s return. We’ll keep you posted with anymore updates.

Halle Bailey & DDG Make Red Carpet Debut At BET Awards
Halle Bailey and DDG made their red carpet debut as a couple during the BET Awards on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The two have been romantically linked since January when they attended an Usher concert in Las Vegas together.
For their entrance, Bailey rocked a black Mônot set while DDG went with a matching Prada outfit and silver chain necklaces.

The two first made their relationship Instagram official with a post on Bailey’s 22nd birthday in March.
“Happy Birthday to the beautifulest, the flyest, the sweetest,” DDG wrote at the time. “Love you forever.”
“I never knew happy relationships existed until this year,” DDG tweeted earlier this month.
Later in the night at the BET Awards, the couple watched as Halle’s sister, Chloë, performed the songs, “Surprise,” Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me,” and “Treat Me.” The performance comes ahead of the release of her upcoming self-titled debut album.
Both Halle and Chlöe together were nominated for the Best Group BET Award. Silk Sonic, comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, went on to win in the category.

Vic Mensa Pleads Guilty In Shrooms Possession Case, Receives 12 Months Probation
Vic Mensa is pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance after striking a deal with prosecutors, which will see him receive 12 months of unsupervised probation. Mensa was arrested for attempting to pass through customs with a stash of shrooms at Dulles International airport, back in January.
In addition to probation, Mensa will have to take a substance abuse assessment, perform 25 hours of community service, and pay a $1k fine. If he successfully completes all of the terms, he’ll be given back half of the fine.

Possession of a Schedule III controlled substance is classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor.
“In this case, I have decided to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge,” Mensa confirmed to TMZ. “I have been extremely vocal about my mental health, the culture at large and access to mental health treatment. It is important to note the extensive research being done on the topic of psilocybin [shrooms] and the many significant movements underway for legalization and decriminalization.”
Further commenting on the medical potential of psilocybin, he continued: “Esteemed universities such as Johns Hopkins, University of California, NYU, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and The Imperial College of London have all immersed themselves in years-long research programs with full departments and centers dedicated to this work. Unfortunately, our laws have not kept up with the research showing that psychedelic plants and compounds can be successfully used to treat otherwise treatment-resistant mental illness.
“I have contributed positively to many communities and will continue to do so with this case. My hope is that the silver lining to this matter will be increased focus on the effectiveness of psychedelics to treat mental illness and mood disorders that millions are battling with depression and anxiety with hope that all of our laws will change accordingly.”
