Nia Sultana, a Brooklyn singer/songwriter, debuts her soul-baring first EP Bigger Dreams on Interscope Records.

The track “Proven,” which features Rick Ross and has a soothing, hypnotic music video, arrived ahead of the new release.

The EP also includes otherworldly singles like “In The Morning” and “Ambience,” which have enabled Sultana’s already committed fan base to see the many sides of her.

“Proven” is a relatable story about shaky relationships and what occurs when one partner works harder than the other. The song sweeps across the ears like a soft breeze, with its low-key snare beat and soaring synth strings. “You’re only interested when someone’s stepping up and I start questioning this situationship and the time that I’ve put in,” Sultana ponders. Ricky Rozay adds in a verse painting a luxurious picture of the life they could share.

Sultana is set among natural springs and lush foliage in the song’s video, which emphasizes the song’s intensely personal character. “Proven,” with its sensitivity and boldness, is a strong start to Sultana’s Bigger Dreams EP, on which she explores the many stages of love: falling in love, falling out of love, and everything in between. From the cheek-blushing ballad “Element” through the self-care hymn “In The Morning” to the uplifting title tune, the album reflects self-respect. Sultana, on the other hand, knows when to let loose and be vulnerable, like she did on “Entirely.”

Sultana first gained the attention of alternative R&B fans with her 2019 single “Coconut Water,” a soothing track that received praise from publications such as NPR and was featured on YouTube’s popular Escape Tracks platform. She’s a Brooklyn gal through and through, and her music has a unique edge as she explores the beauty in adversity while building reassuring affirmations with each bar. Sultana’s strong blend of Quiet Storm soul and poetic songcraft provides a dose of the healing R&B the world needs right now on Biggers Dreams.

Post Malone Is Looking Forward To Being A ‘DILF’: ‘I’m Going To Be A Hot Dad’

Ahead of his upcoming fourth studio album, Twelve Carat Toothache, Post Malone sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for an interview. This year is shaping up to be a big one for Malone, as he is dropping the album, which he said is his favorite, and is also expecting a baby.

When speaking to Lowe, Malone revealed that he’s looking forward to being a father, and that he has been waiting for this day since he was a child. He even shared stories of carrying a baby doll when he was a child.

“I would take him around everywhere,” Malone said. “And I don’t know how long that lasted. But my mom still has it. And I guess, Zane, I’m so pumped up. I’m going to be a hot dad.”

There’s another term for that,” Lowe replied.

“DILF?” said Malone.

While fans and Malone himself are eager for new music, it’s safe to assume the Dallas-bred rapper won’t have this record in heavy rotation. Malone admitted that it’s difficult to listen to his own music, as he isn’t fond of the way he sounds.

“I am so shy. I’m so shy listening to any of my songs, unless I’m sitting down and I’m like, ‘I’m going to listen to these records now,’” Malone said. “This interview, I probably won’t even watch unless I’m hammered because I cannot stand the sound of my own voice.”

Desiigner Gets Into Shouting Match With LAPD, Calls Cop A “Racist B*tch”

There was a scene at a Los Angeles gas station earlier today (June 1) when filmmaker and activist Tariq Nasheed stopped by. The Los Angeles Police Department has a longstanding reputation for its officers’ unethical behaviors, and they were on patrol when Nasheed saw them at the station. There was a Black man standing near the entrance of the location’s market while several officers surrounded him from a distance.

It looked as if there was an officer running the plates on a luxury vehicle parked at one of the pumps and on his way inside, Nasheed asked the man if he was okay. The stranger said yes as Nasheed remarked that the LAPD came out with “a lot of manpower” for one person.

Nasheed shared the clip on his Instagram page because he didn’t realize until after the fact that the man who was being detained was “Panda” hitmaker Desiigner.

“I was driving down the street here in #LA , and I saw the #LAPD surrounding this random brotha at a gas station,” he wrote in the caption. “The cops had their hands on their gun holsters, so I pulled over and walked over to the brotha to make sure he was ok. From what I gathered, the cops were following the brotha because he happened to be in a nice car.”

Meanwhile, TMZ offered details regarding what went down. According to the outlet, Desiigner was out and about when officers pulled him over “for driving without plates and tinted windows.” Once he was pulled over, the LAPD told TMZ that Desiigner exited his vehicle and approached the motorbike cop that stopped him.

Things apparently took a turn when a shouting match ensued and the rapper called at least one of the officers a “racist b*tch.” A police officer threatened Desiigner by saying he could tow his car but the rapper didn’t mind, retorting, “I got money all f*cking day!

Rick Ross Believes That You ‘F*cked Up’ If You Think ‘Begging Is Going To Get You Something’

Rick Ross is quite the entertaining man to follow on social media, especially on Instagram. He often uses to platform to show his laid-back side and share what he hopes are motivating words with his fans. An example of the former came earlier this year when he decided that $10,000 was too much to pay to have ten oak trees cut down, so instead, he put on a cowboy hat and got to work. As for the latter, an example of that came more recently and it’s caused a bit of controversy among his followers. In a video he shared on his Instagram Story, Rick Ross said that begging for something in life is not worth it and he explained why.

“I already know how it go. That’s why I go hard, because I know how it go,” Ross says in the video. “You could be in a room full of the wealthiest mutherf*ckas in the world and tell them, ‘I have nothing, I’m hungry.’ And they’re going to look at you and say, ‘Well what the f*ck are you doing standing next to me begging? Why the f*ck aren’t you working?’”

Ross continued, “‘What the f*ck have you established? What have you done with yourself since the f*cking beginning of time? Where’s your brother, where’s your mother, where’s your father, where’s your f*ckin’ kinfolk? You don’t have any friends? You don’t have anything to establish yourself or worth something in anyone’s life?’ That’s what they’re going to tell you. So, if you think begging is going to get you something, you f*cked up.”

It appears that Ross is alluding to the harsh realities of life, at least in the way that he sees it, but some noted that it doesn’t and shouldn’t have to be this way.

Desiigner Got Into A Verbal Altercation With The LAPD: ‘You Know Who I Am, Right?’

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Desiigner. Unfortunately for him, the “Panda” rapper was recently stopped by cops in Los Angeles for allegedly driving without a license and for his tinted windows.

Footage obtained by TMZ shows Desiigner yelling at the cop who stopped him. The audio is rather unclear, but at one point, the rapper can be heard calling the cop a “racist b*tch.” He can also be heard saying, “I got money all f*cking day.”

When he catches someone filming him, Desiigner approaches them, saying, “You know who I am right? Desiigner. Panda.”

Desiigner was once signed to G.O.O.D Music and Def Jam before being released in 2019. During his time under the tutelage of Kanye West, his song, “Panda” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last year, Desiigner released a song called “Letter To Ye,” on which he reflected on his time as a G.O.O.D. Music artist.

“Madison Square Garden it first started, I’m up on the big screen and I’m 17,” he raps. “I’m livin’ that life, seem like a movie scene. Standing next to Kanye, next to Pusha-T, 2016. We was a big team, performance at Summer Jam, we was the dream team.”

While he seems to recall these times pleasantly, this may not have been the case in 2019, when he tweeted, “FREE ME FROM THIS LABLE.”

Tasha K Files Appeal Against Cardi B Verdict, Docs Speak About Rapper’s “Character”: Report

There are several celebrity-centered cases grabbing attention these days, and just when you thought you wouldn’t hear about this one again for a while, Billboard has offered an update. It was months ago that a court awarded Cardi B a $4 million judgment in the defamation case against blogger Tasha K, and as promised, the YouTuber has launched her appeal in hopes of having the decision overturned. It is unclear if Tasha K has yet to remove her false reports about Cardi as she was reportedly ordered.

Billboard reported that the paperwork alleged that during the trial, the judge wouldn’t allow “key evidence” about Cardi and her “character” to be introduced, thus not allowing the jury to get a full scope of the rapper.

During the trial, the judge reportedly didn’t allow certain pieces of evidence brought to light because it “might be prejudicial against Cardi,” reported Billboard. However, Tasha K’s team believes that was a misstep, although they did not specify what could have shifted the tide in their favor.

“The jury heard a very lopsided presentation of evidence and, because they did not get to learn who the plaintiff truly is, the jury returned a general verdict for the Plaintiff, against both Defendants,” the court documents reportedly stated. The lawyers also argued that there was nothing to prove that Tasha K’s reports about Cardi—that she cheated on her husband Offset, had a sexually transmitted disease, and took to stages performing sex acts with beer bottles, just to name a few—were done in “actual malice.”

Cardi B’s attorney reportedly didn’t respond to a request to comment, but they will certainly answer when they file in the coming days.

Bobby Brown Suffered 2 Heart Attacks, Nearly Drank Himself To Death

The losses that Bobby Brown has suffered have been insurmountable, from his ex-wife Whitney Houston to his two children, Bobbi Kristina and Bobby Brown Jr. The R&B legend’s life has been riddled with tragedies, addiction problems, and health issues, and he has been detailing every little step in his two-part docuseries, Biography: Bobby Brown. The New Edition icon has been candid about how he has coped with losing so many members of his family and for his documentary, he revealed that he almost lost his life after nearly drinking himself to death.

“Losing my daughter hurt me to my core,” he said in the series. “Children are not supposed to go before their parents and I lost my baby girl. I started drinking a lot.”

“My drinking had gotten to a point where my bodily functions were starting to quit on my body. I had two heart attacks. I had two stents in my heart,” Brown added. It was then that he decided to turn his life around and seek help. “I chose to check in and get help for it again. I went to detox and got myself together. I am not normal. I’m an alcoholic. It is an everyday fight for sobriety. I am in prayer and therapy.”

Brown says he regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and has a sponsor who guides him through his ongoing sobriety. “After everything, I can only be proud of myself on a daily basis, because I struggle and work hard to make my kids see me in a better light than I see myself. Family has always been a major part of my life. That is the only way I get by. Family are my biggest support system. I feel all loved. It keeps me afloat.”

“I am a survivor and my angels are looking over me, carried me a long way and I’m thankful.”
