Yung Joc Explains How T-Pain’s “Buy U A Drank” Came Together

Yung Joc recently explained how T-Pain’s “Buy U A Drank” came together, revealing that the song was inspired by Lil Flip refusing to shake T-Pain’s hand. Joc recalled the incident during an interview with Vlad TV, Friday.

Joc, who is featured on the classic track, said that T-Pain was a big fan of Flip’s at the time and wanted to meet him, but when he went to shake Flip’s hand, T-Pain caught him off guard.

“Put ‘er there,” Joc recalls Pain telling Flip, describing it as “some white boy shit.” Flip allegedly left T-Pain hanging during the interaction.

Afterward, Joc offered to buy T-Pain a drink to cheer him up. Months later, T-Pain called up Joc to ask him to be featured on “Buy U A Drank.”

“How can I make a song called ‘Buy You A Drank’ and you probably the only n***a that bought me a drank?” Joc quotes T-Pain as having said.

T-Pain responded to a post of the video on The Shade Room with a cap emoji.

“Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” was released in 2007 as the lead single from T-Pain’s second studio album, Epiphany. The song reached as high as number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Later in the interview, Joc revealed that it was difficult to get the song cleared initially despite it going on to become one of the biggest hits of both artists’ careers.

Jack Harlow And Drake Were Criticized By PETA For Their ‘Churchill Downs’ Video

Just before the one-month anniversary of his sophomore album Come Home The Kids Miss You, Jack Harlow arrived with a video for one of the album’s most popular songs. “Churchill Downs,” which is highlighted by a stellar guest feature from Drake, got the visual treatment in the best way that the song could. Jack and Drake brought their talents to Kentucky’s Churchill Downs, the famed horse racetrack in Louisville, which is Jack’s hometown. The visual captured scenes from last month’s Kentucky Derby and its scenes from it that are the source of criticism that Jack and Drake recently received from PETA.

“Jack Harlow and Drake have chosen to glamorize horseracing with their new ‘Churchill Downs’ video,” the animal rights group wrote in a statement according to HotNewHipHop. “In response, PETA is calling on Harlow to donate the song’s proceeds toward caring for Thoroughbreds discarded by the industry, which exports 7,500 of them for slaughter every year.”

PETA’s Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo added, “Jack Harlow’s glamorized portrayal of horse racing is missing the whips, drugs, and deaths that run rampant in the industry. “Profiting from the abuse of others is never acceptable, and PETA is calling on Jack Harlow to pony up and pay for the care of American Thoroughbreds who would otherwise be shipped to foreign slaughterhouses. The only sure thing in horse racing is that the horses always lose.”

Earlier this year, Kanye West and The Game were criticized by PETA for the cover art of their “Eazy” collaboration.

Jack Harlow is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Method Man Hosts Podcast Celebrating HBO’s “The Wire”

Method Man and HBO are celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Wire by launching a podcast titled The Wire at 20, in which the legendary rapper reflects on the show and interviews members of the cast and crew who worked on it. In the first episode, Method Man sits down with series co-creators David Simon and Ed Burns.

Method Man starred in a recurring role on the show as Melvin “Cheese” Wagstaff from seasons two through five. The show premiered back in 2002 and ran through 2008. While The Wire struggled with poor Nielsen ratings at the time, it was highly regarded by critics and is still often cited as one of the best TV shows of all time.

“Twenty years ago, June 2, 2002, the pilot episode of ‘The Wire’ premiered on HBO,” Method Man said in a trailer for the podcast. “Now, no one knew it at the time, but that day, the bar for television went through the roof. Back then, most cop shows were procedural, they had heroes and villains. But ‘The Wire’ wasn’t most cop shows. And over time, it became clear that it wasn’t a cop show at all.”

In addition to Method Man, The Wire starred an ensemble cast of Dominic West, Michael K. Williams, Sonja Sohn, Clarke Peters, Lance Reddick, Idris Elba, and many more.

David Simon and Ed Burns recently reunited for another series based in Baltimore with We Own This City. The show premiered on April 25, 2022, on HBO.

Lizzo Goes Goes Off On Men Who Use Her Name As An Insult

Lizzo is known for her successful music career, but she also gets a lot of recognition for her confidence and body positivity. The 34-year-old songstress loves showing off her physique, and has no problem firing away at haters who don’t like it– in fact, she did it today.

The “Good as Hell” artist took to Twitter with a message for her trolls. She wrote to her nearly two million followers and said, “Dudes be ugly w no bitches talking bout “oK LiZzO” as an insult in girls comments… I’m beautiful rich & get immaculate dick… ISSA COMPLIMENT. If u can’t make it past the cheeks… just say that.”

In an effort to redeem the negativity surrounding the “okay Lizzo” comments, the Detroit native made it the caption to her recent post. She posted three pictures of her attending the official “Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls” screening at the DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles, California. She wore a hot pink spaghetti strapped dress with matching leggings, gloves, and heels.

In recent news regarding the artist, back in April, she revealed that she was in a relationship. When asked, by Andy Cohen, if it was hard being dating while being a superstar, she responded, “If you have the right person, no. Not at all. It’s not even a factor. Because it should be mutually supportive no matter what that person does.”

Post Malone’s “twelve carat toothache” First Week Sales Projections

Whether you’re enjoying Post Malone’s twelve carat toothache or not, the 14-track project’s first week sales projections don’t lie – there’s a chance it could debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. As HipHopNMore notes, though he could still earn the coveted top spot, this also marks the 26-year-old’s most dismal opening week since he made his debut with Stoney in 2016.

Malone’s last project – 2019’s Hollywood’s Bleeding – moved 489K copies in its first week out, with approximately 200K of those coming from pure sales. His latest effort, which boasts features from Gunna, Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, The Weeknd, The Kid LAROI, and more, is expected to move 115K – 130K copies in the first week.

This puts him right on pace with Jack Harlow, who was anticipated to move 110K – 135K during the first week of his sophomore record, Come Home The Kids Miss You

On a Reddit thread dedicated to Malone, several users discussed the apparent difficulty that artists have been having moving units like they used to. “Given the fact that Kendrick Lamar just sold 283K after the amount of hype he carried and selling 600K+ with his last album, it feels incredibly harder to move units nowadays than before. Especially with the new Billboard rules.”

His performance was filled with hits, including Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” a-ha’s “Take On Me,” Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This),” Prince’s “Purple Rain,” “Summer Lovin'” from Grease, and Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” among others. Robinson was at the festival promoting his new series Killing It. At the festival, Robinson detailed his experience on Killing It, which is a show following a man who enters a snake-killing competition in order to win money that will allow him to pursue the “American Dream.”

Robinson claimed that he had to get over his fear of snakes, and realized that he “was misled by the bible and Indiana Jones.” He added, however, that not all the snakes in the show were real: “We had three different versions of snakes, we had the rubber fake ones, we had the CGI and then we had the real snakes.” You can check out the show on Peacock.
