The Boston Celtics showed their support for WNBA star Brittney Griner on Saturday by rocking T-shirts that read, “WE ARE BG” for practice and media availability. Griner is currently being detained by the Russian government, which has not allowed her to return to America for the last 107 days.

National Basketball Players Association Vice President Grant Williams explained the team’s decision saying, “The shirts were super important not only showing our support for our sister that is detained over in Russia, Brittney Griner, we just wanted to show that togetherness and love that we have throughout not only the NBA but the WNBA. She’s been a vital part of the WNBA over years past, college, and in the amount of impact she’s had on young female athletes, USA and overseas. We hope to have her back in the U.S. and reunited with her family and do what she loves and bring that love and tenacity she always plays with on the court.”

The WNBPA had sent over the T-shirts the night before and Williams says that the Celtics signed on to wear them without hesitation.

“As a collective, we wanted to come out and show our support for Brittney Griner,” Jaylen Brown added. “She’s been over there for an extended amount of time, and we feel like enough is enough.”

Jayson Tatum remarked that he met Griner while playing for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the two became friends. He says that it’s “extremely tough seeing what she’s going through.”

The Russian government claimed that they found vape cartridges containing cannabis oil on Griner while she was passing through the airport.

The Celtics will play in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

Drake was in attendance at tonight’s Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) game between the Scarborough Shooting Stars and the Hamilton Honey Badgers, in which J. Cole played for the Shooting Stars. Sitting courtside, the Toronto rapper rocked Cole’s number 15 jersey.

The Honey Badgers were able to stay dominant throughout the game and ended up defeating the Shooting Stars 84-69.

Cole originally signed with the Shooting Stars back in May, a year after playing with the Rwanda Patriots in the Basketball Africa League. Drake, whose OVO collaborator Nicholas “Niko” Carino co-owns the Shooting Stars, reportedly helped put Cole in touch with the right people to try out for the team.

Shooting Stars’ vice president Jamaal Magloire recently said that Cole’s presence on the court is not solely due to his fame but also his talent and work ethic.

“He just wants to be treated the same, which I thought was very admirable because he is a very special individual,” said Magloire, according to Complex. “As far as the talent that he has, he’s played this game at a professional level in Africa, so, this is his second stint. We’re bringing him in here to play, contribute, and help us win games. That’s his goal as well. It’s gonna be fun and something that is great for the city of Scarborough and Toronto.”

Kathy Griffin pulled no punches when discussing Johnny Depp on Brian Karem’s Just Ask the Question podcast, this week labeling the actor a “big orange fat bloated boozebag.” The comments come in the wake of Depp’s recent defamation trial against Amber Heard, in which he was awarded $15 million.

On the podcast, Griffin admitted that she’s “friends with Amber Heard,” before revealing that she believe’s her side of the story “completely.” Griffin described the verdict as “really disturbing.”

After labeling Depp “gross,” she added: “These Johnny Depp stans that are talking about this trial and yet they refuse to show pictures of what he looks like now, which is a big orange fat bloated boozebag. He looks like Donald Trump with a ponytail. And so they keep sticking up for him and being like, ‘Amber is taking down Johnny! He’s so gorgeous and dreamy!’ I’m like, okay, he talks like Kanye when Kanye had his jaw wired. He has a fake accent like when Madonna turned British. So, you know, who are we kidding here?”

Depp sued Heard, his ex-wife, for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed published in the Washington Post claiming to be a survivor of domestic abuse. Heard responded by counter-suing Depp, claiming her side of the story to be true. While Depp was awarded $15 million in the trial, Heard was also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages.

Heard’s legal team has stated that she intends to appeal the decision.

Deshaun Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, is walking back comments he made during a recent radio interview, in which he said  “happy endings” are not necessarily illegal. Clarifying the viral quote, Hardin explained in a statement issued afterward that he was speaking “hypothetically” and “not describing Deshaun’s case.”

Hardin began his statement by reaffirming his client’s innocence. 

“Deshaun Watson did nothing wrong,” Hardin said. “And as two grand juries have made clear, Deshaun did nothing illegal. Deshaun has always acknowledged consensual sexual activity with three of the plaintiff massage therapists after massages. And Deshaun has repeatedly sworn under oath that he did not force any of his accusers to have sexual contact.”

He continued: “On a Houston radio show interview today, I mentioned that a massage that has a ‘happy ending’ is not illegal, meaning it is not illegal for someone to have consensual sex with a therapist after a massage unless the sex is for pay. Deshaun did not pay anyone for sex. I was using the term hypothetically and not describing Deshaun’s case. I have reiterated to others it’s not OK to do anything that a woman does not agree to do. These women have alleged assault in their pleadings. I was speaking in a hypothetical situation. If there is a consensual sexual encounter after a massage, that is not a crime nor the basis for a civil lawsuit. I was not talking about what Deshaun did or did not do or expected or did not expect.”

Watson, who recently joined the Cleveland Browns, is facing 23 sexual misconduct lawsuits after another woman threw her name into the ring, last week. The women all allege that Watson took things too far when attempting to transition a normal massage into a sexual encounter. The latest woman to join in the lawsuits claims that Watson offered the victims each $100,000 to drop their accusations.

With the civil lawsuits still ongoing, it’s unclear what punishment Watson will face from the NFL. The Browns’ first regular-season game is scheduled for September 11th against the Carolina Panthers.

Chanel West Coast has announced that she and her boyfriend, Dom Fenison, are expecting their first child together. The Ridiculousness star told E! News about the pregnancy in an interview, earlier this week.

Chanel revealed that she’s currently in her first trimester and that it’s been a scary process thus far, but she’s also excited.

“I don’t know if it’s a boy or girl yet. I’m just praying for a happy, healthy baby,” Chanel told the outlet. “I’m just really excited for this next journey in my life. It’s probably my scariest journey yet, but sometimes the scary roads lead to the best endings.”

Chanel also spoke about Fenison and how happy she is to have him by her side.

“Dom is definitely the most level-headed person I’ve ever had in my life,” she said. “Raising children is not an easy thing so you really have to be like that to be a good dad.”

Fenison is a Los Angeles-based model signed to DT Model Management.

Chanel also says that she’s looking forward to what her child hopes to accomplish in life: “From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to sing and dance and be on TV. I just can’t wait to see what my child’s dreams are and help them pursue that all along the way.”

Shakira and her longtime partner, Spanish football star Gerard Piqué, are breaking up, the two announced on Saturday. The former couple asked for privacy in a statement released by the pop star’s PR team.

“We regret to confirm that we are separating,” the statement said. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

The two met during the music video shoot for Shakira’s song “Waka Waka,” which was used as the official song of the 2010 World Cup. They announced that had they begun dating in 2011. The singer and the FC Barcelona defender share two sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.

During an interview on the Planet Weirdo with Holly H podcast in February, Shakira referred to Piqué as her “poor husband, slash boyfriend, slash baby daddy” when discussing their cultural differences being Columbian and Catalonian.

In a post on Twitter, Saturday, Shakira also addressed photos that recently surfaced online of her in an ambulance, explaining that she was accompanying her father to the hospital.

“I just wanted to let you know that those photos are from last weekend (the 28th), when my dad unfortunately had a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance where he is recovering now,” she explained. “Please do send all of your best wishes his way and thank you as always for all of your love & support.”

Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey have reportedly broken up after dating for a year and a half, according to People. The split comes just months after making their red carpet debut at the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills.

The report comes from a source close to the People who tells the outlet that “Michael and Lori are both completely heartbroken. They still love each other.”

As for why they are separating, the ten-year age gap between the two apparently means Jordan is looking to settle down for the long term, while Harvey isn’t there yet.

“Michael matured a lot over the course of their relationship and was ready to commit for the long term. He let down his guard with her, opening up emotionally in a romantic relationship for the first time,” the source explains. “They had great times together and brought out the best in each other.”

Neither Jordan nor Harvey have commented on the news publically.

The couple made their relationship official back in January 2021. In the time since, they’ve appeared to be great for each other. Back In December, Jordan told The Hollywood Reporter that he “finally found what love was” through Harvey. Rumors of a rift between the two began, last month, when Harvey attended the Cannes Film Festival solo for a screening of Final Cut (Coupez!).
