The Met Creates A Marble Statue Of Rihanna From Latest Vogue Cover

While Rihanna wasn’t present at the 2022 Met Gala, New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art still paid tribute to the Barbadian singer by partnering with Vogue to create a marble statue in her honor. The piece was inspired by her likeness on a recent magazine cover for Vogue.

“The statue of ‘Eirene (The Personification of Peace)’ is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover,” the magazine captioned a video of the statue on Instagram.

“Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that?” Rihanna wrote on Instagram, sharing Vogue’s video. “Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”

Rihanna’s absence from the Gala can likely be attributed to her being in the third trimester of her pregnancy, when it is advised not to travel. She is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The two announced that they were dating in early 2021.

“Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been. And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again,” Rihanna told Vogue in the cover story. “Still, I have businesses that aren’t going to run themselves. My mom handled the three of us with not even close to the amount of resources that I have, so I can absolutely do it.”

LeBron James & LaMelo Ball Want The Same Head Coach: Report

Following the NBA regular season, a plethora of teams decided to fire their coaches after lackluster seasons. Among those teams were the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, and a whole host of others. The Hornets and Lakers are certainly the biggest stories as some believe those teams grossly underachieved. The Lakers were especially a shock to NBA fans as they couldn’t even make the play-in round despite having guys like LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis.

As for the ongoing head coaching search, it seems like LeBron and LaMelo Ball both have their eyes set on the same person. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, LaMelo thinks that Mark Jackson would be the perfect mentor, meanwhile, LeBron thinks the coach turned analyst could fix his Lakers.

Per Bleacher Report:

“Jackson is popular among many active players, perhaps because of his visibility as a color commentator for ESPN or his status as a former All-Star and the 1987-88 Rookie of the Year. LeBron James is known to have interest in Jackson for the Los Angeles Lakers’ opening, as does LaMelo Ball with the Charlotte Hornets’ vacancy, sources said.”

Jackson is a head coaching candidate who always seems to have his name tossed around, but he is never seriously considered. Perhaps in this cycle, that will change as players are beginning to have more of a say in who their next head coach will be.

Supreme Court Drafts Opinion Which Would Overturn Roe V. Wade

The Supreme Court has drafted a majority opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision which guarantees the right to an abortion by the federal constitution. The draft, written by Justice Samuel Alito, was leaked by Politico in a rare breach of confidentiality for the court.

“The Constitution makes no reference to abortion and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision,” Alito wrote, adding that the original decision was “egregiously wrong from the start” and that its reasoning was “exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences.”

Being a majority opinion, there are at least five votes in support of the ruling; however, the court isn’t expected to hand out its official opinion until June and the exact wording and vote intentions stand to change beforehand. Politico reports that, in addition to Alito, justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh will vote to shoot down Roe v. Wade.

According to a CNN poll from earlier this year, just 30% of Americans support the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade, with 69% opposed.

The Court’s draft also rejects the Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision in 1992, which strengthened Roe.

Without Roe v. Wade, it will be up to states to decide the legality of abortion, and it would immediately become illegal in at least 13 states with likely more to follow suit.

“The inescapable conclusion is that a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions,” Alito wrote.

The Roe v. Wade decision was made in 1973 and has protected the right to have an abortion for the last 49 years.

J. Stone Shares “Weekend” Ft. Young Dolph

J Stone is returning with a brand new album in June, and today, he’s unveiled a new single off of the project featuring the late Young Dolph. The two rappers connect on “Weekend,” a gritty banger that pairs the two over smokey production. Dolph holds down the first verse, placing himself in Stone’s stomping grounds and comparing himself to Master P in ’98 while J Stone takes it back to Crenshaw and Slauson.

“Working with Dolph was like working with Nipsey, the chemistry, sharing game of the independent grind with each other, and us having the same drive. Dolph would FaceTime me almost every other day about shooting the video. Sadly, the unbelievable tragedy happened that hit me almost just as hard as Nip’s passing” J. Stone said. “But I’m sticking to the script and the plans we both had for “Weekend,” because that’s what Dolph would have wanted. Anthem of the year, better yet a lifetime.”

J Stone’s forthcoming album, The Definition Of Sacrifice drops on June 15th with appearances from Styles P, Mozzy, Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz, and more.

At Long Last, SZA Teases Her New Album At The 2022 Met Gala: ‘It’ll Be A SZA Summer’

More “Good Days” may soon be upon us: At last night’s Met Gala, SZA mentioned that her much-anticipated sophomore album is complete and its release is imminent.

When speaking with Vogue, SZA said, “The album’s finally ready to go — more than I’ve ever felt before. So this summer, it’ll be a SZA summer.”

SZA’s upcoming album will be her first release since her debut album CTRL, which dropped in 2017. She first gave us a taste of a new era back in 2020, with The Neptunes-produced “Hit Different,” which featured Ty Dolla Sign. On Christmas Day of that year, she surprised fans with a single called “Good Days.” Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for a new full-length project.

Also coming soon is SZA’s Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming fourth and final album on the label, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which is set for release on May 13. If Top Dawg’s release schedule parallels that of 2017, SZA’s album could follow shortly after.

In addition to new music, SZA will perform at the Outside Lands festival this August. Perhaps we’ll get new music ahead of her performance. She also teased an acting role earlier this year, but has not confirmed the character or the film to which she is attached.

Odell Beckham Jr. Flexes $650K Chain At The Met Gala

Odell Beckham Jr. is easily one of the most fashionable men in the entire NFL. He is always wearing some pretty incredible outfits, and as far as his sneakers are concerned, he clearly knows what he is doing. In fact, OBJ was at the Met Gala last night where he got to show off his stellar fashion sense. As you can see in the photo below, OBJ had himself a grey velvet hoodie that also had a matching bottom half.

As for the rest of the outfit, OBJ decided to bring some ice with him. The man had a massive yet stunning diamond chain around his neck, and it is clear that it cost him a lot of money. In fact, according to TMZ, this piece cost a total of $650,000.

This information comes straight from Gabriel The Jeweler, who made the piece for OBJ. There are plenty of incredible elements to this piece including 300 carats of round diamonds, 200 carats of emerald-cut diamonds, and 2.5 kilos of gold. The stats on this piece are incredibly impressive, and it makes sense that OBJ would want something so spectacular for an event like the Met Gala.

OBJ has been a fixture at the Met Gala over the years, and he will certainly continue to be for years to come. With that in mind, let us know what you think of his look, in the comments below.

Future Teases New Music & Details Making “I’m On One” With Drake

Future just came through with his latest body of work, I Never Liked Youas well as the deluxe which arrived on Monday morning. While it will be an album that’ll remain in rotation for the remainder of the spring and summer, if not the year, Future might have even more heat in store. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as fans have previously suspected that he’d be releasing two albums back-to-back, though there’s no confirmation of the conspiracy.

During a recent interview with Apple Music, Future divulged plans to release new music before the year comes to an end. He explained that his intention is to come through with more heat but he says he wants to lay down the foundation for his artists first. “I’m going to put music out. I’m going to put more music out, but my team, you know what I’m saying, little double oh, double oh seven, then Boston Richie and just got there and really just put music out with them. They dropping next, so it’s really about them. You know what I’m saying? Just showcasing the homies that’s coming up behind me or whatever. Just giving them that super work ethic. But they already building their own buzz up on their own, so it’s going good,” he told Zane Lowe.

Elsewhere in the interview, he discussed his stand-out collaboration with Drake on “I’m On One.” While the two have established an incredible relationship on wax over the years, the record simply came about after Future showed it to the Canadian rapper.

“We just did those records just because it was just the timing of it, but it was inevitable, you know what I’m saying, for it to happen like that. I’m thinking I was in LA when I recorded that song [I’m On One] I played it for him after I did it. Once it was done, I played the record for him,” he added.
