Jack Harlow Didn’t See ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Until He Was Cast In The Remake
While on the red carpet at the Met Gala last night, Jack Harlow was asked about his role in the upcoming remake of the classic basketball comedy White Men Can’t Jump. In reply, he admitted that he never actually watched the original until after he was cast in the remake, which means it took him a FULL YEAR to do so after I brought it up in my interview with him ahead of his two-on-two game at NBA All-Star 2021 (did I manifest the remake happening? I don’t know. I’m happy to take credit).
“Can I be honest?” he confessed in response to a Vogue reporter’s question about whether he was familiar with the source material. “I was obviously familiar with it, it’s an iconic title and I’ve seen the movie poster, but I didn’t watch it until I got offered the role. I see why it’s a classic.”

And while news of Harlow’s casting met mixed reviews on social media, his performance in this year’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game showed he’s got the range for the role — literally, as he hit multiple 25-footers, despite some wonky shooting form. Meanwhile, there was plenty of interest in his on-screen partner, with everyone from Drake to Quavo being suggested for the role. However, the Wesley Snipes to Harlow’s Woody Harrelson will be played by Sinqua Wells from The Breaks, Friday Night Lights, and Teen Wolf. Meanwhile, Jack himself might just be hitting up his old buddy Tyler Herro for some pointers, since he now knows just what he has to live up to.

A Judge Approves Vans’ Temporary Restraining Order Against MSCHF
Brooklyn art collective MSCHF will have to put a stop to the sale of the Wavy Baby sneaker. Vans secured a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in its trademark infringement lawsuit against Van’s classic Old Skool look-alike.
Per Complex, Judge William Kuntz granted the order, writing that the MSCHF sneaker had already confused consumers and could not be considered a parody. MSCHF declined to comment in an email sent to Complex.
The Wavy Baby is a collaboration with Tyga that redesigned Van’s Old Skool skate shoe. MSCHF employees claim they released 4,306 pairs of the sneakers in April, and set aside another 280 to address fulfillment errors and requests from Museums. Per Complex, MSCHF is effectively making no money from the sneakers.
MSCHF lawyers are arguing that the Wavy Baby is designed for a certain kind of sneakerhead – someone that would know the difference between this sneaker and a pair of Vans.
“Plaintiffs have sufficiently demonstrated actual consumer confusion,” Kuntz’s order read. “Multiple independent sources commented on the similarity between the Old Skool shoes and the Wavy Baby shoes.” His comments allude to an episode of the Complex Sneakers Podcasts from April which featured MSCHF chief creative officer Lukas Bentel. The order also included quotes from the Complex editor and podcast co-host Matt Welty saying that the average person would not be able to determine the shoe’s true origin without a close inspection.
Kuntz also stated that the Wavy Baby sneaker does not meet the requirements to be considered a parody of Vans’ Old Skool. In granting the restraining order, the court forbids MSCHF from fulfilling any more orders and escrowing any money from those that can’t be canceled.

Kodak Black Lookalike Appears Online, Joining The Ranks Of Perkio & Fake Drake
There’s never been a better time to resemble a rapper. In recent months, we’ve seen random people who just so happen to look like DJ Khaled, Drake, and Lil Durk surface online, generating plenty of buzz and building brands for themselves as semi-professional doppelgangers.
The most recent recording artist to be imitated (but never duplicated) is Florida native Kodak Black. In a clip shared by Akademiks on Instagram, a man who could be mistaken for Yak was filmed in a Walmart as he was attracting attention from fans.

As HipHopDX notes, the excitement in people’s voices makes it evident that they really were fooled by the lookalike, although not everyone in the vicinity played along. “So wait, they were trying to take pictures with you?” a woman asked fake Kodak from behind the camera, seemingly surprised that his disguise was believable.
“So they really trying to take pictures with you?” she continued. “So y’all really think this n*gga really Kodak? No.”
At this time, we can’t say for sure if Kodak 2.0 will have the same success as Fake Drake, but we do hope he stays out of trouble and away from 6ix9ine, who allegedly “ambushed” Lil Durk’s lookalike Perkio in order to make a video with him.
The entire situation appeared to see the New York-born rapper attempting to take shots at Smurk, but he was unbothered by the antics, later hopping on Twitter to thank fans for helping him go #1 again amid all the drama – read more about that here, and let us know if you think fake Kodak is convincing or not in the comments below.

A$AP Rocky Announces ‘D.M.B.’ Collaboration with Rihanna
A$AP Rocky’s long-awaited Rihanna collaboration is coming.
The rapper has revealed that his new single “D.M.B. (Dats Mah Bitch)” will arrive this week. He teased the track with a movie-like poster, which features an illustration of him and Rihanna from the music video they shot last year.
“A Ghetto Love Tale Starring A$AP Rocky,” reads the artwork, which Rocky posted on Instagram before deleting.

It’s unclear if Rihanna is featured on the song or just appears in the video. Back in July 2021, the couple was spotted filming the mystery visual during a two-day shoot in the Bronx.

“D.M.B.” is expected to appear on Rocky’s upcoming album All Smiles. In an interview with GQ last year, he described the project as a “ghetto love tale” and “way more mature” than his previous work.
“I think it’s important to have somebody that you can bounce those creative juices and ideas off of,” he said of Rihanna, who has “absolutely” influenced the new music. “It’s just a different point of view.”
A pregnant Rihanna was in attendance as Rocky returned to the stage for the first time since his arrest at The Smoker’s Club festival in San Bernardino, Calif. on Saturday.
