Dermot Kennedy Adds EARTHGANG To “Better Days” Remix

Ireland pop singer Dermot Kennedy’s 2021 was headlined by his July single “Better Days,” which has become one of, if not the, biggest songs in his catalog to date. The song has been given several remixes to enhance the experience, whether it be an acoustic version, a live version or multiple different mixes of the track.

Now, however, Dermot considered it time to add another artist to the mix. On Jan. 28, Kennedy and EARTHGANG released their better days remix. EARTHGANG, who are currently in the midst of a studio album delay, add a spontaneous, vibrant verse from each of their two members. “Better Days” was originally an optimistic, upbeat pop cut, and EARTHGANG only elevate the vibe of the song.

As melodic hums are from Dermot are placed all over the song, the trio of Johnny Venus, Doctur Dot and Kennedy all sync up to craft an uplifting, catchy track.

Quotable Lyrics
Uh, better days are here and I keep tellin’ myself (Okay)
Things are facin’ down and nobody can help
It’s a crazy past, but I grew right through it
Like roses in the concrete, so beautiful (Ooh-ooh, ooh)
Counted out, facin’ doubt, but my head never bowed

Young Dolph’s Alleged Killers Show Up At Court Without Lawyers, Given One Week To Find Legal Team

Cornelius Smith and Justin Johnson – the alleged killers of rapper Young Dolph – have been given a 1-week ultimatum to find legal representation before they’re granted a court-appointed lawyer, HipHopDX reports.

On Friday, January 28th, the 32-year-old and 23-year-old appeared in court, where they were informed that they have until February 4th to hire a lawyer after initially declining to have a public defender during their first court appearance.

Smith and Johnson (who’s also known as Straight Drop) were indicted on charges of “first-degree premeditated murder, attempted first-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, and theft of property over $10,000,” the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office reveals.

It’s also been noted that a third suspect by the name of Shaundale Barnett was arrested on January 12th; the 27-year-old was allegedly an “after-the-fact accessory” in the tragic incident that resulted in Dolph’s death.

Before he was accused of killing the “1 Scale” hitmaker, Johnson was charged with aggravated rape and robbery at the age of 17. When he was 19, Straight Drop was placed on the violent juvenile sex offender registry list,” and was arraigned last week on the charges.

In 2017, he spent nine months in custody after a triple shooting at a bowling alley, as well as being hit with drug and handgun charges back in May of 2018.

In lighter news, following Dolph’s passing, Paper Route EMPIRE shared Long Live Dolph, which includes plenty of emotional tributes to the late legend from his closest friends – check it out here. RIP Dolph.

NLE Choppa Says He Practices Semen Retention & Celibacy

Over the past few months, several different rappers have jumped on the bandwagon of semen retention, which is the practice of men not ejaculating during sex. Whether it be Kodak Black, Kevin Gates or, most recently, Joey Bada$$, the trend seems to be gaining momentum. Now, NLE Choppa looks to be on board as well.

In a recent interview with the Breakfast Club, Choppa told Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee that he is on the path to becoming disciplined enough to practice semen retention: “I went celibate for like a month, because I realized what having sex did to me. I realized how tired I was after having sex. You can have sex, but I feel like semen retention is the focus, because like I tell people all the time, one nut is equivalent to eight miles. You can run eight miles with one nut. It can make a whole life, so you know how powerful it is. You just can’t just keep giving it to everybody.”

NLE continued by asserting that most of the time when he doesn’t finish during sex, it is not purposeful. But, he hopes to get to a point where he has discipline to practice semen retention. He and the Breakfast Club also Joey Bada$$ and Kevin Gates’ similar views, and how Joey mentioned he can still orgasm without ejaculating.

Choppa said he struggled with this practice in November, his birth month, because Scorpios are known to be extra horny in November.

Choppa understands this is a strange decision, especially for a teenager like him, but he is determined to follow through: “For me to go celibate for a week is big for me. I know when I’m a good looking male, everybody wants you, everybody wants a piece of you. I’m young too, I’m still 19, so you still gotta live life. But, for me to be able to implement something so small, to me, like semen retention and celibacy at this age is huge because a lot of n****s just be looking at me crazy when I say that.”

Check out what NLE Choppa had to say about celibacy and semen retention below.

E-40 Is Confident That Busta Rhymes Will ‘Eat’ Eminem If They Faced Off In A ‘Verzuz’ Battle

Many legendary hip-hop acts have taken part in Verzuz battles: Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Dipset, The LOX, Ludacris, Nelly, DMX, Snoop Dogg, and more. Fans often debate which artists would make for a good duel. Recently, thanks to a post from Dr. Dre, many have wondered who should be pitted against Eminem. Swizz Beatz, who created Verzuz with Timbaland, mentioned Busta Rhymes as an opponent, but many disagreed with this recommendation.

One of those people includes E-40, who shared his opinion on a proposed Eminem-Busta mash-up during a recent interview. “Busta Rhymes would eat Eminem in a Verzuz battle. I really believe that,” E-40 said. “Busta Rhymes goes crazy. Because, now, it’s turned into a performance type of situation. Busta Rhymes is animated. He got gas. He raps fast, all that. He do all that stuff that Eminem do. And Busta Rhymes got up-tempo slaps that get the party goin‘. Anytime you got up-tempo slaps, you’re gonna win.”

E-40 also made sure to highlight praise the other rapper. “Eminem is so legendary,” he noted. “You know, definitely. Can’t take nothing away from him. Great hits, great style—I mean, he’s legendary, he’s an icon …” He went on to say, “I feel like Busta Rhymes gots what it takes to bring it to the surface, man, to let people say, ‘Damn, I didn’t even know he had all these hits, man’ …” he said. “The stuff he did with Mariah (Carey) and the stuff he did with Craig Mack, and he got his own slaps, bro. And he’s animated.”

A Travis Scott Petition For Coachella 2023 Was Removed For Having Thousands Of Fake Signatures

Earlier this week, a petition appeared on Change.org demanding Travis Scott perform at Coachella 2023. The petition’s creator felt it was unfair that the rapper was dropped from this year’s festival — which he was initially set to headline — as a result of November’s tragedy at his Astroworld Festival. “We all know Astroworld tragedy wasn’t Travis fault,” read the petition. “Let him get back to performing on the biggest stages!” It took off, receiving upwards of 70,000 signatures — or so it seemed.

But now the petition has been removed from the website, as per NME, after it was discovered many of the 70,000 signatures were fake. When the impostor signatures had been removed, only 5,000 signatures were left. However, after further investigation, it was decided that more would need to be done.

“This petition was removed from Change.org due to violations of our Community Guidelines,” Change.org wrote in their statement. “The petition was found to contain fraudulent signatures, which were removed. After further investigation, our team discovered that the petition had produced several fraudulent attempts, which forced a complete removal of the petition.” The company added that they have a “range of automated systems and teams dedicated to blocking and removing double or fake signatures and detect other fraudulent activity.”
