JayDaYoungan Is Back At It With “All Rise”

Earlier this summer, JayDaYoungan dropped his 13-track project 23 Is Back, and the 28-minute effort boasted tracks like “ZaZa,” “What’s Wrong With You,” Looking For You,” and “Confidential Decisions.”

Three months later, the Louisiana rapper is back with more heat, and like many of the songs from 23 Is Back, his latest release is also a brief, yet spirited effort. Titled “All Rise,” JayDaYoungan’s new single is a punchy track that’s produced by Pooh On The Beat.

Given the song’s extremely brief runtime of just 1.5 minutes, there’s only room on “All Rise” for JayDaYoungan to perform one verse and run through his hook twice, and given the infectious energy of the track, it feels almost too brief.

Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of short, but hard-hitting tracks, go ahead and give JayDaYoungan’s latest single a listen by watching the official music video for “All Rise” below. Also, fans of JayDaYoungan can check out his entry in HNHH’s ongoing In My Bag interview series here.

Quotable Lyrics

Since you trippin’, bitch, we bustin’ yo’ head
He was dissin’, caught ’em slippin’, now he stuck wit’ no legs
Fuck his kneecap when the heat clap, aim at his forehead
And when the beef done, we steppin’ like we tryna protest

Baby Keem Details His ‘Issues’ In An Emotive ‘Tonight Show’ Debut Performance

Baby Keem’s meteoric rise continues. Last night, the Las Vegas rapper made his television debut on The Tonight Show, where he performed the new song “Issues.” Presumably, the song will appear on his debut album, The Melodic Blue, which is due to release this week. The performance is stripped-down and direct, with Keem sitting astride a bicycle in front of a screen displaying a desert tableau. He spends most of the performance with his eyes closed, projecting a sense of deep introspection.

Also featured on the debut album are the previously released singles “Durag Activity” featuring Travis Scott and “Family Ties” featuring Keem’s real-life cousin, Kendrick Lamar. Keem confirmed both tracks would be on the album when he announced that he’d turned the completed project in a few weeks ago. Shortly after that, he shared the cover and tracklist, which revealed that Houston rising star and Keem’s would-be fellow 2020 XXL Freshman Don Toliver would also appear on the album.

With The Melodic Blue dropping this Friday, 9/10 via PgLang/Columbia, Keem’s due for a huge breakout, the culmination of a climb he started in 2019 with the viral success of his single “Orange Soda.”

Tame Impala Performed Their Travis Scott Collab ‘Skeletons’ For The First Time At Their Live Comeback

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has had the opportunity to collaborate with a handful of rappers over the years. A prominent and relatively recent example of that is “Skeletons,” a highlight from Travis Scott’s hit 2018 album Astroworld. Earlier this week, on September 7, Tame Impala kicked off their comeback tour at the United Center in Chicago, and during the set, the band decided to perform the Scott collaboration for the first time.

In a 2018 Billboard interview, Parker spoke about how “Skeletons” came to be, saying, “[Scott’s] manager got in touch and said he was a big fan [and suggested we] meet up if I was ever in LA, so I went to a few sessions with him. We hung out and played some stuff, and he really liked what ended up being ‘Skeletons.’ That definitely got the biggest reaction out of him. I could tell he liked it. I remember going through this stuff to play to Travis, and just thought, ‘Oh, this is actually really up his alley.’ I know Travis likes his psych-rock. He likes his crusty metal guitar sound. I was struck by how much I thought it would fit Travis’ thing even though it’s not hip-hop-sounding. So much hip-hop is cycled from music that sounds like that — crusty-sounding ’70s rock. There’s so much of that, that kind of King Crimson stuff.”

In that same conversation, he talked about what it was like working with Scott, saying, “What’s cool about people like Travis is that they’re just getting a bunch of people in the room and seeing what happens. For a lot of it, I was just a team player. At some points, there were 10, 20 people in the room. You could just be there and hang out and not do anything for like an hour. And then something perks your ears up, and you can be like, ‘Oh yeah yeah, plug me in, I’ve got an idea.’ We’d go for hours, until three in the morning.”

“The Matrix Resurrections” Trailer Is Here In Full Mind-Bending Glory

Rumblings about a follow-up to the Matrix trilogy have persisted for nearly a full decade, but everything changed in 2019 when Warner Bros. officially announced that there would be a fourth installment in the fan-favorite sci-fi movie series. The highly anticipated film — titled The Matrix Resurrections — is scheduled to arrive this holiday season, and Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith will star in the film and reprise their respective roles of Neo, Trinity, and Niobe.

While Action Bronson revealed that he ultimately didn’t make the cut for the fourth Matrix film, other actors and actresses who have been confirmed for the film are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (of CandymanWatchmen, and Aquaman fame), Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, and Daniel Bernhardt.

Now, after months of speculating how all of the previously mentioned movie stars will mesh in The Matrix Resurrections, fans can finally relax, because Warner Bros. has unveiled the action-packed and mind-bending trailer for the decades-removed sequel.

The trailer depicts an aged version of Neo who doesn’t seem to have any real memories of the Matrix, but after reuniting with Trinity, Keanu Reeves’ character is thrust back into the struggle between humans and the machines. Fans are treated to some spectacular visual effects, and they can also get their first glimpse of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus.

Watch the trailer for The Matrix Resurrections below, and be sure to check out the highly anticipated film when it arrives in theatres and on HBO Max on December 22.

SZA Comments On Kanye West Firing His Engineer For Oversleeping

A text message thread between Kanye West and his alleged recording engineer was leaked onto the internet this week. The texts show Kanye allegedly asking his engineer to get to work in the morning, and after two hours with no response, Ye fired them over text and told them to “find God” and “come back when you’ve found God.”

Music fans have been reacting to the texts for the last few days, commenting on Ye’s ruthless nature, with many people theorizing that they don’t have thick enough skin to ever work with the demanding artist. SZA has officially jumped into the conversation, and it looks as though she may be working her team just as hard (or she just understands why Kanye is being so demanding).

Reposting somebody’s “unpopular” opinion on the matter, SZA co-signed, “You don’t get ‘off the grid‘ quality of artistry without some extent of forced labor. Sacrifices have to be made for greatness. Everybody tiptoeing these days afraid to cross boundaries or to be exposed. But at the end of the day, your favorite song, your favorite shoe, your favorite garment, your favorite drink wouldn’t be created if everybody in the process was in a comfortable state. Labor takes its toll. Somebody at some point sacrificed something unwillingly for it. It’s not just the willing ones, sometimes we just need to dig our graves in order to feel alive.”

What do you think about SZA’s comments on Kanye firing his engineer over text? Do you agree with what she had to say?
