Roy Woods Flips A Juvenile Classic On “Gyalis (RoyMix)”

Roy Woods has officially come through with an interesting new take on Juvenile’s classic “Back That Azz Up.” Now, Woods has decided to expand on the foundation with “Gyalis,” a SoundCloud loosie that highlights his melodic chops.

Given the subject matter of the two aforementioned tracks, it’s not entirely surprising that Woods opts for a more intimate approach on this one. “Lots of freaky things on your brain girl, and I feel the same, I been thinking these things,” he sings. “So just keep that vision, won’t you keep that energy, keep that energy when you come see me.” Overall, it’s an enjoyable new drop from Roy Woods, and it will be interesting to see how he comes through on his next body of work.

Quotable Lyrics

Lots of freaky things on your brain girl,
And I feel the same, I been thinking these things,
So just keep that vision, won’t you keep that energy,
Keep that energy when you come see me

G-Eazy And Demi Lovato Confront Their Reflections For A Haunting Peformance Of ‘Breakdown’

G-Eazy’s got a new album, These Things Happen Too, out and to mark the release, the Bay Area star hit the Tonight Show stage with pop singer Demi Lovato to perform the haunting “Breakdown” from the new project. The performance, which takes place on a two-sided stage adorned with mirrors, finds the duo confronting their controversies as images of the various headlines written about them flash on the screens behind them.

Between them, the two have accumulated enough headlines to wallpaper a museum wing. Most recently, G-Eazy was in the news for a fight outside a hotel bar and filing a restraining order against an alleged stalker. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato recently came out as non-binary, drawing criticism from conservative corners of the internet.

However, both stars also have their fair share of good news, as well. G-Eazy recently started a wellness brand, FlowerShop, giving an interview to Uproxx’s Dane Rivera about the new brand, and has strung together an impressive list of features in 2021, including on EST Gee’s “At Will.” Meanwhile, Lovato recently helped to honor queer icon Elton John at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, so both seem to be doing alright, even despite their respective mishaps.

Kodak Black Was Ordered To Attend Rehab After Failing A Drug Test

Kodak Black is headed to rehab, according to TMZ. The Pompano Beach, Florida rapper reportedly violated the terms of his supervised release by failing a drug test and was consequently ordered to attend a 90-day residential treatment program. Kodak was serving a 46-month sentence for lying on an application to buy a gun but was pardoned by Donald Trump early this year along with Lil Wayne, who was facing gun charges of his own. TMZ also reports that Kodak is already checked into the program. Here’s hoping he gets the help he needs.

Unfortunately, Koday Black doesn’t have the greatest record with treatment. Back in 2017, it was reported that he burped his way out of anger management sessions. His counselor at the time found him to be disturbing group therapy and asked him to leave, eventually resorting to threats to call 911.

Although Kodak did receive a pardon on his gun charges, he pled guilty to sexually assaulting a minor from an alleged 2016 incident involving a teenaged fan at Comfort Inn in South Carolina. He was sentenced to probation for 18 months against a suspended 10-year sentence, as well as agreeing to undergo counseling.

Kodak Black is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Grafh Links With Benny The Butcher On DJ Shay-Laced “Very Different”

A longtime veteran in the game, Grafh is gearing up to release what may be his most anticipated album yet with Stop Calling Art Content. Produced entirely by the late DJ Shay, the man who mentored the Griselda trifecta and a legend in the Buffalo rap scene and beyond, Grafh’s new body of work will be curated by none other than Benny The Butcher.

Perhaps appropriately, it’s Benny who holds it down on the album’s first single “Very Different,” a track that sets a promising tone. Over a soulful horn-driven beat from Shay, Grafh lets fly a methodical flow lined with technical complexities and hard-hitting bars. His energy is matched by The Butcher — who never fails to put in work when paired with a fellow lyricist.

Check out “Very Different” now, and be sure to keep an eye out for the complete project to land on October 15th. The full tracklist lies below.

Fans React To Kanye’s Yeezy GAP “Perfect Hoodie” Drop

Kanye West has always been on the pursuit of perfection.

Displayed perfectly by his seemingly-constant tweaking of every album from The Life of Pablo to Donda, the 44-year-old rarely leaves good enough at good enough and has been vocal about his belief that art is living and always transforming.

When it comes to hoodies, however, it seems that Ye believes he found the perfect formula.

Releasing what he dubbed the “perfect hoodie,” Kanye took to the YZY GAP app to drop the exclusive hoodie earlier today. Describing the garment as “lightly cropped at the waist” and “heavy as a winter coat,” Yeezy’s perfect hoodie took the internet by storm.

Fans logging onto the app to try to purchase the $90 hoodie were offered six different colorways, all presented on the Yeezy GAP official Instgram page, but were disappointed to find that an overflow of traffic had led to slow loading speeds and website crashes.

Many Ye fans, as they are known to do, persevered through the virtual issues and secured the hoodie of their choice, but there were detractors who scoffed at the “perfect hoodie” and assumed the Donda rapper was ripping off his customer base.

Tweeting that the Yeezy Gap hoodie was “probably Gildan quality” and that you could find the same thing on Amazon for $14.97, there was a clear divide between those willing to stand behind West and support his every move, and those always looking for a way to cut him down.

Either way, check out the six hoodies and the internet waves they caused below.

Rod Wave & Lil Durk Reflect On The Past In The “Already Won” Music Video

Rod Wave is the quiet giant of 2021. Thanks to his third studio album SoulFly and his emotional live renditions of Drake and Adele classics, the low-key Florida artist has managed to have one of the bestselling Hip-Hop albums of the year, and as reported earlier this summer, Rod Wave is also one of the most streamed artists of the year, across genres.

Now, a month after the deluxe re-release of SoulFly, Rod Wave has shared a music video from one of its most popular cuts, the Lil Durk-assisted “Already Won.”

The video begins with a brief, yet harrowing monologue from the Pray For Love artist, who provides some insight into what inspired him to pursue a career in music. “When I was younger, I thought I wanted to be the biggest dope boy in the world,” he says. “All my friends and shit, dead and in prison. I understood that ain’t what I wanted to do.”

From that point on, Rod Wave and Lil Durk reflect on the past while rapping in dimly lit spaces, and the video switches back and forth between their heartfelt performances to visually striking recreations of scenes from Rod Wave’s youth.
