Soulja Boy Shows His Swiftie Side By Commanding Kanye West To Apologize To Taylor Swift

At the moment, Soulja Boy is not pleased with Kanye West. Soulja apparently recorded a verse for West’s new album Donda, but was ultimately not included on the release. That left him pretty upset, and since then, his Twitter has been a regular feed of anti-West posts. As part of that feed, Soulja has found himself in Swiftie territory.

This afternoon, Soulja insisted that West apologize to Swift, presumably for their infamous microphone-snatching moment at the 2009 VMAs. He tweeted, “U P*ssy. U really wore that trump hat too. You did a-lot of corny sh*t in ur career and got a pass. B*tch ass n**** apologize to Taylor swift @kanyewest.” He quickly followed up by noting that had West tried to take a microphone from him, the outcome of that situation would have been violent: “If u would have ran on stage and snatched a mic from my hand I would have knocked yo ass out live on MTV @kanyewest.”

Meanwhile, it seems West has actually tried to mend fences with Swift, or at least brought up the possibility. Back in September 2020, West tweeted that he wanted to help Swift regain control over her masters, saying, “I’M GOING TO PERSONALLY SEE TO IT THAT TAYLOR SWIFT GETS HER MASTERS BACK. SCOOTER [Braun] IS A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND.”

DJ Envy Explains Why He Called Kanye West A “Clown”

During yesterday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, DJ Envy sparked discussion after labelling Kanye West to be a “clown,” maintaining that his negative energy and treatment of others earned him the unflattering label.

Though he didn’t provide any concrete examples, he alluded to an incident that transpired behind the scenes, possibly connected to one of the previous Donda listening events.

“People are going to say he’s having problems, an episode, and there’s so many people around him who should be making sure he’s okay — and they’re not,” said Envy. “That whole team and what they’re doing is clown work.”

Unsurprisingly, Envy’s hard-lined anti-Yeezy stance opened the floodgates, and he proceeded to further elaborate on his position during this morning’s Breakfast Club. “I called him a clown and I still stand by that and I still mean that,” says Envy. “So many people called me. Artists, athletes, OGs, newer artists, younger artists. Kanye’s team. They asked me why I felt that way, and I explained why I felt that way.”

“They asked me why the people that I named — Pusha T, John Monopoly, Free, and Bu — were like that too,” he continues. “Like I said, you enable him to do it. You don’t stop him from doing the wild out stuff behind the scenes that’s really disrespectful. He should be humbled. They told me ‘that’s a lie.’ They were like ‘when you’re dealing with someone who has emotional problems you can’t necessarily control him.’ You do what you can to make sure things are alright.”

“They said they agree that some of the things he does is foul, but they can’t control that man,” says Envy. “I called them clowns as well. And I called Pusha T yesterday, I called Free yesterday. I spoke to Bu yesterday, and we had a great conversation. They told me what they’re doing to help that situation, and to those brothers, I get it. Me calling you a clown was foul. But I still think Kanye is a clown…The shit he on is clownish. I still like the Yeezys though.”

Finally, Kanye West has released his tenth studio album, DONDA. After three large-scale listening events and plenty of teasers over the last year, the rollout for the album culminated with a pot-stirring event at Soldier Field in Chicago, during which Kanye introduced DaBaby, who made homophobic comments a few weeks ago, and Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of rape and sexual assault, on stage with him. On Sunday morning, Kanye released the official studio album, stunning fans, who have already been declaring DONDA as a masterpiece.

While many of DONDA‘s songs appear on the updated Staff Picks playlist, including “Hurricane” with Lil Baby and The Weeknd, “Praise God” with Travis Scott and Baby Keem, “Jesus Lord” with Jay Electronica, “Off The Grid” with Playboi Carti and Fivio Foreign, and more, DONDA wasn’t the only project to release last week.

Smoke Bulga Connects With Rick Ross On “Water Whip’n”

The MMG empire isn’t necessarily gripping the rap game the way it once was at the beginning of the 2010s but Rick Ross continues to find excellent talent that he can bring to the world. This week, he announced the singing of Smoke Bulga to Maybach Music Group and commemorated the occasion with the release of “Water Whip’n.” Ross kicks off his new collab with Bulga who showcases his fierce bars over a sample of Black Rob’s “Whoa.”

“It really feels like Draft Day because I’m teaming up with one of the best to ever do it in Rozay with one of the premier labels in hip-hop history,” Bulga told Billboard of the deal. “MMG has long represented excellence and I look forward to representing the new generation of MMG starting with this new ‘Water Whip’n’ release.”

Migos Keep “Culture III” Going With “How We Coming” Video

Earlier this summer, Migos closed out their long-running trilogy with Culture III, a project that many fans hailed as a return to form of sorts. Shortly after showcasing a different — and refreshing — interpretation of select songs with a Tiny Desk Concert, Migos have come through with a brand new music video for standout bonus track “How We Coming,” produced by their longtime collaborator Murda Beatz and shot by LennoxxLens.

Visually, this one is rather straightforward as far as the plot is concerned, with the Migos rolling through various parts of Atlanta and connecting with no shortage of fans and supporters. As expected, Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff make sure the style is on point, flexing a few notable iced-out chains and watches. Should you be a fan of the trifecta’s swagger, it’s likely you’ll find enjoyment here — even if it’s not entirely clear what drove them to push a Deluxe Edition track over one of the album’s core songs.

Be sure to check out the new video for the Migos’ “How We Coming,” and sound off if you’ve been keeping Culture III on steady rotation months after its initial release.

Will Smith Reveals Lead Actor In “Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” Reboot

Will Smith and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air cast celebrated the 30-year anniversary of its premiere last year. Like most popular shows in the 90s, there have been discussions for a revamped version set in modern times. That hasn’t worked out well for shows like Boy Meets World or Full House but there is hope for the Fresh Prince. Peacock announced that they’d be revamping the show for modern times with a dramatic twist, which appears to be a take on Morgan cooper’s viral video.

Earlier today Will Smith revealed the actor who will be taking on the role as the Fresh Prince on Instagram. Smith welcomed West Philaldephia’s Jabari Banks in a video posted to his Instagram Page. Smith shares footage from a Zoom call he had with Banks where he broke the news to him. “From the deepest parts of my heart, I wanna say congratulations to you. You have the role of Will on Bel -Air,” Smith told Banks.

The upcoming series has already been ordered for two seasons by Peacock. Universal and Westbrook Studios, which is a part of Will and Jada’s Westbrook Inc., will serve as the producers for the series.

“With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show,” a synopsis of the show reads.

Kal Banx Shares New Project “KEEPITINTHEFAMILY”

The TDE family is preparing for a big year ahead. This wee, Top Dawg Entertainment producer Kal Banx showed out with his latest body of work, KEEPITINTHEFAMILY. The eight-track effort boasts one credited feature from Kiefer. Sonically, it follows a blueprint laid down on The House Is Burning (which Kal contributed to), merging Southern chopped-and-screwed elements with calming and soulful lo-fi production.
