Brent Faiyaz & Drake’s Collab Dropping Tonight: Report

We’re still waiting on the arrival of Certified Lover Boy, an album that Drake promised he would release in the summer of 2020. Summer 2021 is here but no sign of the album. A few collaborations have popped up though, including his appearance on Migos’ “Having Our Way” which is bound to have the clubs on smash this summer.

CLB might not have a release date set but fortunately, fans might be receiving some brand new music from The Boy in the form of collaboration alongside Brent Faiyaz. A new single from the two artists titled “Wasting Time” produced by The Neptunes leaked today and is currently available on Apple Music in New Zealand. So tonight, fans will be kicking off the month of July with some much-needed vibes from Drizzy and Brent Faiyaz. “If you gonna waste your time/ Then waste your time with me,” Faiyaz sings on the record. “I mean honestly/ Open your eyes and see/ If he’s giving you what you need.”

The forthcoming single from Brent Faiyaz follows a slew of singles he’s already released this year. In January, he connected with DJ Dahi and Tyler, The Creator on “Gravity.” Then, he released “Eden” as part of Black History: Music For A Movement Vol. 2. Most recently, he shared the single, “Show U Off.”

With the pending release of “Wasting Time,” it seems like Brent Faiyaz is officially in album mode.

Moneybagg Yo Enters The Sunken Place In His Delusive ‘Wockesha’ Video

Moneybagg Yo gets trapped in a delusion in his ominous “Wockesha” video. The song, which is an ode to his love-hate relationship with lean, portrays the purple drink as a woman with whom Moneybagg maintains an unhealthy infatuation, so the video makes that metaphor visual. “Wockesha” appears as a beautiful woman with purple hair accompanying Moneybagg on his daily activities, but as in Bill Watterson’s Calvin & Hobbes comic strip, where Moneybagg sees a gorgeous companion, other people just see a man with a toxic attachment to an inanimate object (portrayed here as a pair of giant floating styrofoam cups).

Containing an interpolation of The Notorious BIG’s “One More Chance” remix and a cameo appearance from Lil Wayne, who details his own tumultuous relationship with the drug that has nearly killed him multiple times over the years, “Wockesha” is a heart-wrenching look at the allure of an activity that has entrapped many of hip-hop’s finest, a la Beanie Sigel’s “Purple Rain” or Future’s “Codeine Crazy.” The Wayne intro is excerpted from the New Orleans rapper’s 2009 interview with Tim Westwood, although Wayne’s appearance in the video is new, with Wayne reprising the speech from his own studio.

The subject matter of “Wockesha” prompted Yo’s fellow Memphian NLE Choppa to reach out to him, encouraging him to replace lean with Choppa’s own brand of plant-based products. So far, it doesn’t appear that Moneybagg is all that interested. He recently performed the song at the BET Awards.

Morray Dishes Out Melodies & Bars During His “2021 XXL Freshman Freestyle”

A couple of weeks ago, XXL unveiled the 2021 XXL Freshman Class, and the “out of this world” line-up featured some of the most exciting newcomers in Hip-Hop, including Coi Leray, Pooh Shiesty, Flo Milli, Rubi Rose, DDG, Iann Dior, 42 Dugg, and several others.

In addition to the new class of XXL Freshman landing the magazine’s annual summertime cover, each of the rising stars has been showing off their skills, tastes, and personalities in XXL’s supplemental content, from the entertaining “ABCs” videos to the videos in which they read mean comments from fans. Now, the solo freshman freestyles have officially started rolling out, and one of the first to get released is Morray’s.

The Street Sermons artist starts off his freestyle with some crisp vocals and memorable melody, singing “They said I’d be dead by sixteen/I guess them n*ggas watch me grind and sh*t/B*tch, I’m alive and I know that you hate it/Wishin’ you go blind and sh*t.” After those opening lines, Morray continues to develop the melody further, and his lack of Auto-Tune proves that he really does put forth a commendable effort while singing.

Most Hip-Hop fans first heard of Morray through his viral single “Quicksand,” but towards the end of his freestyle, the North Carolina upstart has fully embraced this moment and decided to give XXL some bars to go along with his signature melodies. “Came here for verses, I’m rappin’/Can’t even tap it,” Morray rhymes near the 0:56-mark. “Givin’ ’em raw with no magnum/Givin’ ’em wood like a cabinet/I’ma surpass ’em.”

Check out Morray’s XXL Freshman Freestyle below and let us know in the comments if you’re feeling it.

Rico Nasty Unveils New Single “Magic”

Over the course of the year so far, Rico Nasty has been popping up more frequently as a guest feature rather than the main artist. We can’t necessarily blame her, either, since she’s been on an epic run in the past two years. Nasty, Anger Management with Kenny Beats, and 2020’s Nightmare Vacation have proven that she’s just as versatile as she is consistent.

This week, Rico Nasty returned with her first official release of the year with “Magic.” Nasty settles into a more laidback vibe, detailing summer love and loyalty over smooth guitar strings. About the song, Rico stated that she wanted “to bring out another side of you and almost feel like you’re being taken over by Magic.”

The song is set to appear on Rico Nasty’s forthcoming mixtape, Rx.

Quotable Lyrics
Reminiscin’ the feelings of when you turned me on
Never trippin’ on issues ’cause we could fix ’em all
It was hard tryna love but I learned it, though
Give you all of my trust ’cause you earned it all

Pooh Shiesty’s Arrest: Twitter Reacts To The Feds Pulling Evidence Off His IG

Pooh Shiesty, the unanimously hottest rapper out of Memphis, has recently been indicted for the robbery and shooting of two men located in South Florida. Lontrell Dennell Williams, the artist’s real name, will not be facing a detention hearing until July 6.

Currently behind bars for shooting a security guard at a Miami nightclub, the rapper even posted his address online in order to receive some fan mail. And while he’s sure to be getting a plethora of loving letters, something suggests that he’s going to get a few absolutely tearing him to shreds.

Moreover, social media is as ruthless as they’ve ever been in regards to how this case is bound to go down. Considering Williams was seen posting photos with rifles and stacks of hundreds on Instagram, it’s only fair to see that people a sense of humor about it, right?

It’s safe to say it’s been a long and interesting year for Pooh Sheisty. From Sheisty Season to the deluxe edition of Sheisty Season, and now all of this. Though this could mean there’s time to wait until we hear new music, at least we’re getting some good jokes out of it.

Bill Cosby’s Sexual Assault Conviction Gets Overturned By Pennsylvania Supreme Court

Just two months ago, it was reported that Bill Cosby had been denied parole by the Pennsylvania Parole Board after consistently failing to attend and participate in a treatment program for sex offenders. Many, including OJ Simpsoncriticized Cosby and his legal team for not meeting the necessary requirements to be granted parole, but now, it appears that Cosby and his legal team were focused on much bigger things.

On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has shockingly overturned Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction, and several news outlets have reported that the disgraced comedian is expected to be released from prison in a matter of hours. According to the Associated Press, the court reportedly overturned Bill Cosby’s sex assault conviction after discovering an agreement with a previous prosecutor that prevented Cosby from being charged in the case.

Bill Cosby walks through the Montgomery County Courthouse for day fourteen of his sexual assault retrial, as the jury deliberates for the second day, on April 26, 2018 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. A former Temple University employee alleges that the entertainer drugged and molested her in 2004 at his home in suburban Philadelphia. More than 40 women have accused the 80 year old entertainer of sexual assault.

AP reports that the prosecution unethically used newly unsealed evidence when he was charged in late 2015. Apparently, the evidence came from Cosby’s damaging deposition from Andrea Constand’s civil lawsuit that was filed in 20015, and Cosby was arrested days before the 12-year statute of limitations expired. As a result, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court found that Cosby’s trial was tainted, and it ultimately settled upon the decision to overturn his conviction.

When expressing its opinion, the court said, “When an unconditional charging decision is made publicly and with the intent to induce action and reliance by the defendant, and when the defendant does so to his detriment (and in some instances upon the advice of counsel), denying the defendant the benefit of that decision is an affront to fundamental fairness, particularly when it results in a criminal prosecution that was foregone for more than a decade.”

Bill Cosby, now 83 years old, has remained in prison for two years following his conviction in 2018, and according to NBC News, the world-famous comedian is set to be released from prison.

Kyle Massey’s Mom Doubles Down On Defense Of Son

Kyle Massey, beloved former child star of Corey in the House and That’s So Raven, is in very hot water after allegations arose that he sent explicit messages to a 13-year-old girl. However, the actor’s mom, Angel Massey, is continuing to defend her son, and counterattack the mom of the alleged victim as being a predator herself, and attempting to extort Kyle.

In a video posted to Instagram, Angel Massey laid out how her son first became affiliated with the family– claiming that the mother of the 13-year-old girl engaged in a predatory sexual relationship with Kyle Massey when he was only 16-years old. “Even though he consented to having sex with her at 16, in the state of California that’s illegal because a minor can’t consent to sex. So that’s how Kyle knows the mother,” Angel Massey said. She continued by saying “He never sent anything to a minor. This is an old attempt from the extortion from 2019,” referencing a similar civil case filed by the same family two years ago

This new defense comes after Angel Massey posted an initial defense video yesterday, where she made similar claims: “She took the same CALIFORNIA COMPLAINT that she was unsuccessful in prosecuting and filed it in SEATTLE where she lives. MY SON KYLE IS THE VICTIM TODAY JUST AS HE WAS BACK ON FEBRUARY 14, 2019 when we got the 1.5 MILLION DOLLAR EXTORTION DEMAND!”

Instagram users in the comments seem to be taking the side of Angel Massey, claiming she “has receipts.” Others speculate that the inappropriate picture was actually sent to the mother of the victim, not the 13-year-old herself.

Massey is reportedly facing a charge of one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. The charges began in 2019 with a lawsuit against Massey, though a police investigation starting in 2020 escalated the case to criminal. Massey was set to appear at King County Criminal Court in Washington on Monday but never showed.
