Chauncey Billups Set To Become Blazers Head Coach

Chauncey Billups was a solid player during his time in the NBA and ever since his retirement, he has become a respected assistant coach who has done some impressive work. He is currently an assistant coach on the Los Angeles Clippers, who are currently in the midst of their best playoff run in the history of the franchise. Billups knows how to relate to his players, and as a result, he has been considered for various head coaching positions.

This past week, Billups and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon became finalists for the head coaching job with the Portland Trail Blazers. Last night, it was reported that Billups had been chosen for the job and as of right now, he is working out a new contract with the Blazers. The contract is expected to be finalized over the weekend.

Billups will now get to coach a team that features the likes of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. While the Blazers always end up making the playoffs, there is no denying that they have had issues when it comes to escaping the first round. With this in mind, Billups is coming in with big expectations, especially since Lillard could decide to leave if the results don’t come fast.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Reportedly Robbed By Three Gunmen

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been a solid player for the Los Angeles Lakers over the past few years and he was instrumental in the team’s massive championship win back in 2020. He has cemented himself as a fan-favorite in Los Angeles and heading into next season, he will be a key part of the Lakers’ depth. Unfortunately, the NBA star went through a very scary incident on June 17th at his home in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.

In the report, it was revealed that Caldwell-Pope was chilling with some friends in his driveway, when all of a sudden, three men pulled up with guns and demanded that KCP and his friends give up their goods. In the end, the men made off with a watch, jewelry, and some other goods. In total, $150,000 worth of items were stolen. Thankfully, KCP and his friends were unharmed in the incident.

As it stands, the Los Angeles Police Department is looking into the situation although for now, it doesn’t seem like they have any leads on who the perpetrators were. When it comes to KCP, he has yet to make a statement on the matter, although we’re sure he is taking some time to himself after such a traumatic experience.

In the aftermath of this incident, we hope KCP is doing well, as you never want to see this sort of thing happen. Hopefully, he is able to get his stuff back.

Doja Cat & J.I.D Offer An Unexpected Collab On “Options”

Doja Cat has become one of the biggest names in pop and hip-hop over the past couple of years and for good reason. She has a knack for writing hit songs and leading up to the release of Planet Her, fans were expecting more of her signature sound. Yesterday, the project was released to the masses and while Doja Cat finds herself experimenting on the album, there is no doubt that her pop aesthetics are still here. There are some dope tracks to be found here, including “Options” which contains an amazing feature from J.I.D.

This song is immediately recognizable thanks to the flute melody that plays in the background. Doja rides the beat well as she mostly finds herself rapping throughout the first portion of the song. From there, she gets into her singing bag, all while J.I.D makes his appearance in the second half of the song. J.I.D’s verse is multifaceted and has two distinct flows that switch up seemingly out of nowhere.

Tyler, the Creator is one of the most creative artists in the hip-hop world, and on Friday, he came through with his brand new album Call Me If You Get Lost. This project was made in collaboration with DJ Drama and after just one day, the album is being heralded as the best effort of the year. There are plenty of great tracks and collaborations to behold here, including the song “HOT WIND BLOWS” which features the legendary Lil Wayne.

This track features some incredible production that has vocal samples soaring in the background. In the midst of all of this, Tyler gives off his signature boisterous flow that contains braggadocios lyrics and some dope word play. The entire track gives off this unique L.A. Noire vibe and Wayne’s inclusion in the song brings it to the next level. Fans are already gravitating towards this track and it is easy to see why this is the case.

DaBaby Draws Inspiration From Hood Classics In “Red Light Green Light” Visual

It’s obvious that DaBaby is paying homage to a few of our favorite hood classic films in his music video to “Red Light Green Light.” The rapper shared his latest single on Friday (June 25), and hours later, he dropped off the accompanying music video. The cover art for the track showed DaBaby sporting a head full of S-Curl locks reminiscent of the 1990s, and the scene was all about those backyard cookouts with family and a few trouble-making friends.

Fans expect that DaBaby will be releasing a project sometime soon, especially considering “Red Light Green Light” came just a week after the rapper delivered his last single, “Ball If I Want To.” The visual for “Red Light Green Light” arrived with a warning—sort of—before the video began.

“Everything done in this amazing ass video is intended to be used for entertainment purposes only,” it reads. “The only influence we would like this video to have is to inspire others to reach new heights creatively. All guns used in this video are 100% props made out of woods or rubber. WARNING, there is no warning! Enjoy the video!”
