Lil Durk’s Alleged Baby Mama Says He Cut His 7-Year-Old Son Off

Lil Durk is one of the biggest rappers in the world right now, being embraced in the mainstream as one of the most consistent superstars in his genre. The Chicago rapper rarely misses and he’s known to release multiple projects per year, most recently striking with his collaborative album with Lil Baby, titled The Voice of the Heroes. On several of the songs on the album, Durkio speaks about how he’s set his kids up for success, but one of his alleged baby mamas doesn’t necessarily agree with him, calling him out during a recent interview.

Lil Durk’s alleged baby mama Travonna, who gave birth to their son seven years ago, claims that she used to buy the rapper White Castle all the time but these days, she doesn’t see any money from him for their child.

“Seven years ago when my son was born, you were not who you are now. I was giving you rides to the studio and buying you White Castle because you had to wait for checks for different stuff when you were with other companies,” she said, calling out Durk. “You didn’t even have title to your money. Now you stacking it up and you’re talking about how you take care of all of your kids but you ain’t sent my son nothing! You buy designer, you always brag about taking care of your homies in jail, and my son is just completely exed out of the whole equation constantly.”

Travonna claims that she has not stayed in contact with Durk. Her interview with Tasha K is currently making the rounds. You can watch the video in question below, as well as some pictures with her son.

Lil Durk & Lil Baby “The Voice Of The Heroes” Review

The title The Voice Of The Heroes isn’t simply a convergence of Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s respective universes; it acts as a statement, echoing the success of the past 12-plus months of their individual careers. Lil Baby and Lil Durk build off of their consistency as solo and feature artists to achieve what few rappers of their stature have done effectively on a collaborative project — complement each other.

The Voice Of The Heroes is, undoubtedly, a product of supply-and-demand, but fortunately, it didn’t succumb to its would-be fate as an easy money-grab consisting of a bloated tracklist full of throwaways and mailed-in verses. A fan’s request manifested itself from a tweet to an 18-song album that upholds the standard the artists have set for themselves on songs like “3 Headed Goat” and “Finesse Out The Gang Way”; a balance of gut-wrenching ballads filled with vivid flashbacks of trauma, carousels of wealth, status, fame, and the perils that come with it.

Despite the generation gap between their respective come-ups, The Voice Of The Heroes is an hour-long display of their synchronicity — a celebration of shared morals and ethics that have carried their success from the trenches to the charts, strip clubs to frequent radio rotation. Durk and Baby haven’t lost sight of the experiences that made them. Hence, why the collab project can be summed up by calls for Larry Hoover and Big Meech’s releases — two individuals whose value and contributions to their communities in Chicago and Atlanta, respectively, turned them into beacons of hope. Similarly, Durk and Baby carry that same ethos in their execution of TVOTH. “Durk’s the voice ‘cause he knows what to say/ I’m the hero, I come through, save the day,” Baby raps on the title track through his lean-induced vocoder-tinged delivery. Ultimately, it’s their understanding of the bigger picture (no pun intended) that allows their egos and looming presence in rap to co-exist harmoniously across the project.

Durk sounds revitalized here, even after releasing a solo album and the OTF compilation tape in the months prior. The rapper pulls back the auto-tune even further on several occasions, like on “Still Runnin” featuring Meek Mill. His raw, unadulterated flow is a timely reminder of his emergence as a frontrunner of the drill scene and his evident influence on today’s sound.

Baby, on the other hand, might not be outperforming Durk on every single track but, much like his ascent to stardom, there’s a firm understanding of his lane. Unfortunately, there are fewer stand-out moments from Baby on the project in comparison to Durk. Baby’s execution as a collaborator is his best quality on The Voice Of The Heroes. Durk’s rapping with a chip on his shoulder on nearly every track while Baby isn’t consistently exuding the same level of hunger. In those instances, Baby’s earworm hooks and riveting cadences serve to elevate Durk’s performance.

What Baby does best, though, is offer a glimpse into his next move. His consistency has made him a fixture in hip-hop, but there’s bound to be a moment where it runs its course. By finding new pockets of melodies, even if done subtly like on DJ Khaled’s “EVERY CHANCE I GET,” there’s a peek into a potential evolution of his sound.

The Voice Of The Heroes doesn’t exceed the artists’ solo efforts by any means. Baby and Durk’s best qualities as artists are their ear for production, but they fail to truly identify a common sound that plays into their respective strengths. Instead, the album bounces between songs that sound like Lil Durk featuring Lil Baby and vice versa; production that either fits into the atmospheric and opulent sounds of Atlanta, like on “Please,” or the menacing tones of drill on “Lying.” It’s a safety net that allowed little room for failure. A proven formula that stirred up the demand for a collaborative album in the first place.

The rise of Lil Baby and Lil Durk in 2020 coincided with what will historically be known as the worst year in modern history. And perhaps, that’s why their presence was so necessary over the course of the year. “Rich Off Pain” with Rod Wave is the thesis statement to the album in that sense. Over shredding electric guitars, Durk and Baby reflect on their own traumas and experiences that have informed their music and made it so compelling. More importantly, they’ve remained hopeful throughout these times, inspiring others to do the same in their own journey. The Voice Of The Heroes is a celebration of triumph yet a reflection of pain. The riches and extravagance earned through hard work and the survivor’s remorse of losing friends on the way. The power that comes with wealth and fame, and the responsibilities that it’s accompanied by.

NLE Choppa Claims He Helped Cure Someone From Cancer

Memphis rapper NLE Choppa has restructured his image, shifting his focus from gang violence to personal health in recent years. The 18-year-old recording artist has been sharing his tips and tricks to a long, fulfilling, and happy life, instructing his followers to follow a plant-based diet. At the end of the day, you are what you eat. The rapper has an unconventional way of preaching to his fans, but he’s making a positive difference in people’s lives by showing them it can be cool to garden, grow your own food, and lead a healthy lifestyle.

It’s been proven that a plant-based diet can have countless health benefits– especially as it pertains to your heart and brain health. According to NLE Choppa, his guidance helped cure somebody who was suffering from cancer, learning that they were healed after following his advice.

“Wow man just was informed I helped cure someone from cancer,” tweeted NLE Choppa. “This Major To Me [100 emoji] [prayer hands emoji] #ThankGod.”

After his post started picking up attention across the internet, the rapper explained how the patient was cured.

“It’s funny cause some people think I’m lying, which is understandable but that’s nowhere near the case,” said Choppa. “Curing disease is simple, it takes a meatless, dairy free, sugar free diet. Implant herbs, Sea mosses, black seed, neem, and other herbs. My mugwort was included in her diet. I don’t just sell this items to sell them. I know the impact and what they can do for the mind, body, and spirit. I’ve healed people of allergic reactions in my own house, helped Unc with diabetes, and now cancer. Beyond blessed we here to help and heal.”

Quavo & Kendrick Perkins Go Head-To-Head On “First Take”

Quavo and Kendrick Perkins have been embroiled in an extremely random beef for a while now, and it all stems from a random lyric in which Quavo said “get no playing time, Kendrick Perkins.” As soon as the lyric went viral, Kendrick Perkins got pretty offended by it and it is easy to see why. As a member of the basketball media, Perkins has been roasted by fans and fellow players, and by all accounts, it seemed like Quavo’s lyric was the last straw.

During Migos’ performance at the Floyd Mayweather fight, Perkins made a derogatory comment about Quavo’s ability to write bars, which led to a combative response from Quavo, who was not appreciative of what Perkins had to say.

With this beef reaching a very public climax, ESPN’s First Take decided to have Quavo on the show today where they had him hash things out with Perkins. As you will see in the clip below, it was mostly Perkins who did all of the talking as he tried to explain all of his bonafides to Quavo. Meanwhile, the Migos frontman continued to laugh during the whole exchange as he found Perkins’ passion to be amusing.

Overall, it wasn’t a very productive conversation and Quavo was quick to remind Perkins that he wasn’t exactly a superstar player. By the end of the segment, both men came to the conclusion that it’s all jokes and there is no real animosity between them.

As for Culture III, it remains to be seen whether or not this beef actually moves the needle when it comes to album sales.

Migos’ “Avalanche”: First Reactions

In one last promotional push before the release of Culture III tomorrow, Migos dropped the record’s intro track titled “Avalanche” and hopped on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the new track. Dressed in sharp black suits and top hats, the trio stood tall in front of three mic stands, surrounded by an accompanying live band that was equally dressed for the occasion.

It has been three years since the group’s last output in Culture IIand fans have been anxiously waiting for the group’s return as they all went on to release solo records in between. With a strong performance on Fallon, excitement for Culture III seems to be hitting its peak at the right time for the Atlanta-based trio. Twitter has been raving about “Avalanche’s” nostalgic, 1970s-inspired funk bounce – a fresh sound for the trio to rap over. Particularly, fans are gushing over Takeoff’s verse, who takes on the last verse of the track.

With excitement buzzing on Twitter for “Avalanche” and the album itself, it seems apt to peep some of the fan reactions to the performance. What do you think of the performance?

Check out “Avalanche” now on streaming services and be on the look out for Culture III when it drops Friday.

Illuminati Hotties Get Wet And Wild In The New ‘Pool Hopping’ Video

Illuminati Hotties are ringing in Hot Vax Summer with a pop-punk cannonball. “Pool Hopping” is the first track from the just-announced forthcoming album Let Me Do One More, which arrives October 1.

Directed by Katie Neuhof, the bubblegum-bright video features singer/writer/producer Sarah Tudzin chirping about indecision from various doughnut inner tubes. The song emits so many summertime vibes, it’s easy to gloss over Tudzin’s most excellent couplet game, which had me at “Stealth makeout / Breakfast takeout.”

Tudzin said that this record is the culmination of three years of uncertainty in the music business, where she was embroiled in label disputes and unpaid royalties. Let Me Do One More sounds — so far — like a big sigh of relief from all that. As Tudzin said of “Pool Hopping”: “I’m so stoked to have grilled up a splashy new song & music video to soundtrack your wettest & wildest parties to date. This track is for when it’s hot, you’re crushing on someone new, and your adventure senses are tingling. Come on in, the water’s fine!!!”

Illuminati Hotties are on tour supporting Death Cab For Cutie’s west coast dates in September. The day after the album drops, on October 2, the Hotties will headline Zebulon in Los Angeles.

Watch the “Pool Hopping” video above and find the Let Me Do One More art and tracklist below. Also revisit our 2018 interview with Tudzin here.

Quavo Recalls Migos’ Origins Before Tapping Out During His ‘Hot Ones’ Interview

With Migos‘ new album Culture III dropping in less than 12 hours, the trio’s most visible members, Quavo and Offset, have been busy doing press all week to drum up buzz for the long-awaited, twice-delayed release. While Offset went the print route, giving some choice quotes to Billboard on Monday, Quavo decided to take on the Hot Ones challenge today… and paid the price, ultimately tapping out after the eighth week, topped with the infamous Da Bomb sauce (“It’s got a nuclear weapon?” has to be a top ten response to the sauce’s label).

Before he threw in the towel, though, he gave some pretty insightful answers to questions about how his collaborators set the vibe in the studio, a photo on Instagram featuring Quavo hanging out with Elon Musk, Kanye West, and Travis Scott, Quavo’s upcoming feature film debut alongside Robert DeNiro, and the early days of Migos before they were a trio. When host Sean Evans brings up the song “Boost It Up” and the group’s high school origins, Quavo details how Takeoff earned his name (by getting all of his verses recorded in one take), why fellow students teased them about their early music, and how Offset was eventually added to the crew to form the trio as we know it.

Watch Quavo’s Hot Ones interview above.

Culture III is out 6/11 on Quality Control, Capitol, and Motown Records.

Police Apprehend Suspected Baltimore Gang Leader In Atlanta, Who Died After Standoff

Gary Creek, the supposed leader of the Baltimore Triple-C gang, died following a police standoff on Tuesday. The Associated Press reported that police tried to arrest Creek in an Atlanta apartment complex, but an exchange of shots fired between Creek and the U.S. marshals and police on scene led to a standoff.

Creek was indicted along with 15 Triple-C gang members and associates that were connected to 18 killings, 27 attempted murders and multiple drug distribution “shops” across Baltimore. While other Triple-C members and associates were already in police custody, Creek was the last individual that police sought after. They eventually tracked him down at an apartment complex in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where the standoff occurred.

In 2015, Creek supposedly founded Triple-C to sell different drugs and controlled substances. Gang members were known to be allegedly involved in witness intimidation, shootings, and the murders of other rival gang members. After authorities believed Creek to be the primary drug supplier for the gang, he was first charged in 2019, but was released in May 2020 from a Washington, D.C. jail as COVID-19 cases in prison and jail environments began to skyrocket.

Three hours after arriving onto the scene, Creek was discovered dead from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Atlanta after hostage situation.” Police said Creek held three individuals hostage during the standoff, and they were identified as Creek’s girlfriend along with two children, aged two and six respectively. They were eventually released and no officers or civilians were injured during the confrontation.
