Triller Is Reportedly Being Sued Yet Again, This Time By Universal Music Publishing For Unpaid Licensing Fees

Video content-sharing application and streamer Triller is at the center of yet another lawsuit. This time, it comes via Universal Music Publishing.

After the company’s acquisition of Verzuz, co-founded by music titans Swizz Beatz and Timbaland in March 2021, they have faced several lawsuits. After Triller allegedly defaulted on the deal after two payments, the pair took the company to court in August 2022 to retrieve the remaining $28 million balance. The following month, the parties reached a settlement.

In a joint statement, Swizz and Timbaland said, “We’re glad to come to an amicable agreement with Triller and continue giving fans the music and community that they’ve come to know and love from the brand.”

Unfortunately, Triller’s legal woes didn’t stop there. At the same time, Sony Music filed a lawsuit against the company for violating their and the artists signed to their label’s intellectual property rights. In the suit, Sony Music stated after Triller “historically failed to make payments in a timely manner,” representatives for the label attempted to contact Triller but only resulted in “near-total radio silence,” forcing the company to terminate its licensing agreement with Triller on August 8, 2022. But the company refused to take down Sony Music artists’ songs from their library for app users.

Now, according to Rolling Stone, Universal Music Publishing is alleging Triller has “repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises” “despite its contractual obligations.”

Attorneys for Universal Music Publishing list in the suit Triller failed to pay the fifth, sixth, and seventh quarterly installments of the licensing fees totaling $3 million, equating to $1 million per quarter.

Triller has not issued a public statement regarding the matter.

French Montana Has Been Threatened With A Lawsuit Over A Miami Shooting

Last month, French Montana was filming a music video in Miami Gardens when gunfire broke out, wounding 10 people. The Bronx rapper issued a statement expressing regret at the incident and assuring fans his “thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time.” However, that hasn’t stopped one of them from apparently pursuing legal counsel — and a potential lawsuit — against the rapper, according to NBC Miami.

Carl Leon, a 25-year-old music blogger who was injured in the shooting, told local news he plans to file suit. His attorney, Josiah Graham, said, “Sometime during the break of one of the scenes, that’s when he heard gunshots. He didn’t know what happened, like everyone else. He took off running. As he’s running, he fell at some point. When he gets up, he discovers he’s been shot.” Although Leon had been invited to the video filming, Graham stressed that Miami police hadn’t issued a permit for it and said, “It’s our understanding that he had an unauthorized video shoot at Finger Licking, so, we’re looking into that.”

However, a link between the film shooting and the guns hasn’t been publicly established, so it’s unclear whether French and collaborator Rob49 were involved or just unlucky. French was at the restaurant to celebrate the release of his mixtape Coke Boys 6, and it appears that any filming took place as part of the celebration, not a separate, planned video. Meanwhile, Rob49 was apparently also hit and hospitalized.

On Sunday (January 8), the Memphis native took to his social media accounts to begin teasing his new album. “My Album Is A Heartless Edition Hope Y’all Ready,” he writes in a tweet.

Furthermore, his Instagram account shares a little bit more information surrounding the upcoming release. “22songs[,] Who Y’all Think Features??” the “Me Vs Me” rapper writes in the caption. The second photo in the post is assumedly the album cover.

Additionally, he’s teasing a new collaboration with one of the hottest rappers in the game right now, GloRilla. In the clip, the two Memphis artists are seen turning up to a snippet of their unreleased track together. It appears as though they’ll be exchanging verses, going back and forth over the booming production.

Although he’s been busy dropping singles, music videos and feature verses, Moneybagg Yo’s last album is 2021’s A Gangsta’s Pain. Backed by singles like “Wockesha” and “Time Today,” the project successfully catapulted the 31-year-old into new heights of success.

Yo Gotti officially signed the Memphis native to his label, Collective Music Group (CMG), in 2016. In July of last year, the “Rake It Up” rapper also quickly signed GloRilla to the label. This was shortly following the viral success of her hit song, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).”

Both signees appear on the label’s first collaborative mixtape together, Gangsta Art, which showcases the depth of their rosters’ talents.

Odell Beckham Jr. Flexes Knee Recovery In Pick-Up Basketball Game

Odell Beckham Jr. made headlines last month as he attempted to get a job in the NFL. He has been out of commission since the Super Bowl when he sustained a second ACL tear. Overall, he visited three teams including the Giants, Cowboys, and even the Bills.

However, none of the teams he saw offered him a contract. Based on comments from numerous teams, it felt like OBJ’s knee was still very much an issue. Additionally, Odell only seemed interested in playing playoff games, which could certainly cause some division.

Odell Plays Ball

According to TMZ, Odell is currently sharpening his skills, although in another sport. In the video clip below, Beckham Jr. can be seen playing a pick-up game of basketball. OBJ is going one-on-one in the clip and he looked pretty good doing so.

In fact, you can tell that his knee is getting significantly better. Of course, playing pick-up basketball is much different than running routes. However, this is a great step forward for the wide receiver, who still has plenty to give to the game of football.

Beckham Jr. has made it clear that he wants to sign a long-term deal and make a permanent home to end his career. The Cowboys and Bills have seemingly shown great interest in Odell, however, he will likely have to wait until the offseason to get that contract. 50 Cent Responds To Viral Clip Of “In Da Club” Playing At Ja Rule’s Concert

Ja Rule and 50 Cent will never see eye-to-eye but most would agree that the latter came out the victor in their back-and-forth. However, it seems like Ja Rule will never live down his loss in his battle against Fif.

Case in point — Ja Rule’s performance at in Omaha, Nebraska in December. Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam booked Ja Rule to perform at the Baxter Arena. However, he was quickly reminded of his feud with the “21 Questions” rapper before he was even able to hit the stage.

Footage circulated over the past few days of the DJ playing 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” at the venue. It’s unclear at what point in the show this was but it clearly didn’t sit well with Ja’s team. Shortly after, a member of the rapper’s crew tried to shut things down. “Stop the show right here,” one person said. Another person says afterward, “Aye, cut that shit off!”

Though the footage is a month old, there hasn’t been any statement from Ja Rule about the matter. Chances are, he won’t be speaking about it any time soon. Or perhaps, he wasn’t even aware of what was going on at the time.

50 Cent, on the other hand, didn’t waste any time chiming in. He shared the footage on his Instagram page, revealing that he wished he was responsible for the mishap on stage.

“LOL Now this is some funny shit ! I wish i had something to do with it,” he captioned the post.

The feud between the two parties goes as far back as 1999. Though things died down for a while in the early 2010s, 50 Cent didn’t hold back on dissing Ja Rule whenever the opportunity came up.

We’ll keep you posted if Ja Rule ever ends up responding to 50 Cent.

Victim Of Shooting At French Montana Event Considering Lawsuit

He was included in the list of victims who were fired upon, but French Montana may face legal trouble stemming from a recent shooting. Last week, French released Coke Boys 6, and unsurprisingly, he and his crew were in Miami celebrating the project. It was reported that the rapper and his collaborators were shooting a music video outside The Licking restaurant when someone opened fire on the crowd.

Police shared that 10 people were injured during the incident, but thankfully, all are expected to survive. One of the victims was a blogger named Carl Leon, and his attorney, Josiah Graham, is weighing options for a lawsuit.

NBC Miami reported the 25-year-old blogger was invited to the event. Leon is said to have suffered several injuries, including wounds to his hand and stomach. Another bullet “grazed his ear,” the outlet stated.

“Sometime during the break of one of the scenes, that’s when he heard gunshots. He didn’t know what happened, like everyone else. He took off running. As he’s running, he fell at some point,” said Graham. “When he gets up, he discovers he’s been shot.”

“Just literally less than an inch away from sure death,” the lawyer added.

Leon is considering filing a lawsuit, and Graham is currently looking to speak with more witnesses. One person, Wilmark Baez, reportedly let production use his bulldogs and lowrider vehicle for filming. One of his dogs vanished during the shooting but was later returned unharmed. However, Baez’s car is still impounded and he was never paid for his contributions.

Investigators issued a statement saying the necessary permits allowed for production weren’t approved. Thus, police presence and safety measures weren’t implemented.

“One of the biggest deterrents to crime is a police presence or some type of security infrastructure, but certainly with police officers,” Graham said.

Meanwhile, TMZ reported that French sought safety in a nearby KFC. The rapper also issued a statement about the harrowing incident.

“Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant,” the statement read. “We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time.”

Rob Gronkowski Changes Course On Retirement Stance

Rob Gronkowski is easily one of the best tight ends to ever play the game. He and Tom Brady played some amazing football together and even won four Super Bowls as a duo. Unfortunately, Gronk is retired from the game of football, and Brady clearly misses him.

However, Gronk has teased a potential return to the game. On a few occasions, he has even said that he was bored. Subsequently, this led to some offers from different teams. Although, Gronk wasn’t exactly jumping at the bit to take these teams up on their calls to action.

Is Rob Gronkowski Coming Back?

Interestingly enough, in a new interview with TMZ, Gronkowski noted that he could very well make an NFL comeback. Of course, it is going to take a lot of money to make this happen. Gronk says he would need to be paid like a QB, although we all know that is not going to happen.

“Like Dumb and Dumber, baby. You’re sayin’ there’s a chance,” Gronkowski said. “You never know. What if someone wanted to throw the whole salary cap at me, baby, or half of the salary cap, then you gotta think about it. Throw me some quarterback money. Then you’re talking, so there’s always a possibility.”

Brady certainly could have used Rob Gronkowski this season. The Buccaneers QB struggled throughout the year, and he even finished with an 8-9 record. Regardless, the Bucs are headed to the playoffs where they hope to get in a few upsets.

Be sure to keep it locked to HNHH for all of the latest news from around the sports world. Additionally, let us know which team you think Gronk should play for, in the comments section down below. We’re sure plenty of fanbases would love to have him.
