Playboi Carti Causes Supermarket Chaos In His Very Green ‘Sky’ Video

Although Playboi Carti didn’t technically release a new album this year, he has still been one of 2021’s biggest artists so far. He dropped his sophomore effort Whole Lotta Red on December 25, 2020, the final Friday of the year, and it went on to become his first No. 1 album. Now he’s keeping the party going here in April with a fresh video for album highlight “Sky.”

The video is presented mostly in green monochrome and in it, Carti and some cohorts cause chaos in a supermarket by eating food, throwing items on the floor, disrupting shoppers, and otherwise behaving in ways that would probably get them permanently banned from the establishment were this reality and not a music video. As for the song, Carti raps mostly about how it feels being under the influence of drugs, a situation he views favorably.

Meanwhile, it looks like Carti might have a new project on the way soon. In a post from March, he wrote on Instagram, “LeTs dr0p thiS new Album . w3 noT done .” He added in the post from the next day, “i waNt to DroP like RN.”

Mo3 & Foogiano Trade Menacing Bars On “Mob”

Though Mo3 is no longer with us, having been fatally killed in a shooting in Dallas, his team is currently in the midst of rolling out his posthumous album Shottaz 4 EvaWith the project due out for release on Friday, April 9th, another new single has officially landed. This time, we’re looking at a collaboration between Mo3 and Foogiano, the brief but impactful “Mob.”

Setting it off is Foogiano, who sets an intimidating tone with an energetic opening verse. “I’m authentic as they come, 2-2-3 coming out the drum,” he raps, over a sinister trap banger. “Mo3 call me tell me that he need you gone, I get it done / I come up from the trenches bitch, I’m really from the slums.” Tagging in is Mo3, who contrasts his counterpart’s calculated delivery with a more explosive closing verse. “Chopper strapped off in my joggers, who protecting 3?” he spits, setting up a complex rhyme scheme in the process. “My bodyguard, oh you don’t see this bitch? This FN on me.”

Robert Kraft Explains Why The Patriots Let Tom Brady Go

About a year ago, the New England Patriots and Tom Brady made the decision to part ways after 20 years together. This was a huge blow to the Patriots fanbase although it was a breakup that many saw coming. Since that time, Brady has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has even won a Super Bowl with the team. Meanwhile, the Patriots failed to make the playoffs, all while head coach Bill Belichick has tried to sign big-name players.

In a recent interview, Patriots owner Robert Kraft explained why the team had to let Brady go. Simply put, they felt like he was declining and that they could get another QB for less money. At the end of the day, the NFL is a business and Kraft had to make the best financial decision for his team.

“We could have, contract-wise, kept him (Tom Brady) in our camp, but it’s just not the right thing,” Kraft said. “Naturally, we want to win, but who knows what would have happened if he stayed here. Look what happened at the end of his last season here.”

Considering the weapons on the Patriots, it’s safe to say that Brady made the right move by going to Tampa Bay as he had a lot more to work with. These weapons are what helped him win a title, and at this point, we’re sure Kraft wishes he had just surrounded Brady with more talent.

Tyler, The Creator’s “Wolf” Is Now Eight Years Old

Long before he was creating songs for Coca-Cola ad campaigns and children’s Christmas movies, Tyler, the Creator was still working to solidify his identity as an artist. Early signs of the massive shift in Tyler’s style from the dark and horrifying aesthetic of Bastard and Goblin to the more bubbly and pop-sensible sounds of Flower Boy and Igor can be heard on 2013’s Wolf, which celebrates its eight-year anniversary today.

Led by the hectic single “Domo23,” Wolf officially arrived on April 2, 2013, back when new albums were still being released on Tuesdays. Tyler’s third album fared well commercially, selling 89,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200. Wolf boasted a bevy of features from Odd Future affiliates such as Frank Ocean, Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, and Left Brain, but it also found Tyler reaching outside of his tight-knit circle to collaborate with music industry veterans Pharrell Williams and Erykah Badu.

In an effort to move away from the brash, dark sound of his critically acclaimed sophomore effort GoblinWolf featured some of Tyler’s first forrays into bright, jazzy arrangements, as seen on the slept-on album cut “Treehome95” featuring Coco O. and Erykah Badu. At the time, the album also housed some of Tyler’s most transparent and introspective songs yet, including “Answer” and “Lone.” Plus, the music videos for Wolf also showed the Odd Future figurehead‘s growth as a director, especially on the grotesque music video for the Pharrell-assisted song “IFHY.”

Rod Wave Confesses He Was Originally Featured On Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle”

Last week, Rod Wave finally released his long-awaited project SoulFly. Projected to move upwards of 150k units in its first week, the project is shaping up to be the one that propels the 22-year-old lyricist’s career to even greater heights. He recently notched several additional platinum and gold plaques to add to his already robust collection, adding on to his overall musical domination.

He sat down with co-hosts Eddie and Nick on Apple Music’s The Plug Radio, discussing how he was originally intended to appear on Drake’s Scary Hours project, his desire to work on an entire collab tape with Ed Sheeran, and more.

“Yeah, I supposed to be on that [Lemon Pepper Freestyle] but I didn’t like how my verse came out. So I kind of scratched it,” revealed Rod Wave to the co-hosts.

“Oh, you scratched it?” asked another co-host, to which the rapper clarified, “No, like I scratched it. I didn’t like how my voice came out and you know with a Drake feature, you don’t want to, you know what I’m saying?”

He continued, confessing, “It’s like my first thing, it’s a big deal, have to come with it, you know what I’m saying? All that. I kind of had got cold feet, so kind of shook me up a little bit. So I was like don’t worry about it.”

When asked if he’ll be making an appearance on Certified Lover Boy, Wave responded, “No, no, no. I was supposed to be on that, right? Yeah. I was supposed to be on the Lemon Pepper song.”

Speaking about one of his biggest inspirations, the Florida native expressed the desire to potentially work on an entire tape with Ed Sheeran. “Man I’m trying to do a whole EP with Ed Sheeran. I’m going to talk it into existence man,” said the rapper.
What do you all think the “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” version with Rod Wave would’ve sounded like? Let us know down in the comments.

Lil Gnar & Lil Skies Connect For “Not The Same”

At this point, it’s fair to say that Lil will remain the most popular prefix in hip-hop history. And every so often, the stars align as two Lils come together on a single track, as Lil Gnar and Lil Skies did today. The song in question is “Not The Same,” a new single that finds both melodically-inclined rappers taking to a bouncy guitar-driven instrumental. Though it’s not entirely original territory, Gnar and Skies are practiced enough to shine, with the former setting a tone in his opening verse.

“YSL denim, gon’ spin on a mission, free all my ni**as that’s locked in that system,” he raps, his voice steeped in autotune. “Fucking that bitch, I ain’t never gon’ kiss her.” Skies picks up where he left off, distancing himself of emotional on the tireless pursuit for the bag. “She wanna go out on a date, I don’t do no dating,” he raps, his flow picking up steam. “European drip to the floor, money make lil’ shorty touch her toes / All this money barely fit a roll, all this money make her take her clothes off.”

Be sure to check out “Not The Same” now, and sound off in the comments if you’re enjoying this direction from Lil Gnar.

Jasiah Is Ready For “War” On His Electrifying New Album

Last spring, Jasiah kicked off the rollout to his highly-anticipated follow up to 2019’s Jasiah I Am by unleashing the gnarly screamo-rap smash “Break Shit.” A year later, the Dayton, Ohion native has finally returned with his latest album, titled War.

War is a seven-track project that features high-octane guest contributions from artists such as Pouya, Rico Nasty, TheHxliday, and Nascar Aloe. Clocking in at a runtime of approximately 16 minutes, Jasiah’s electrifying project is a welcomed dose of energy. In addition the incredible guest appearances, the beat selection on War is also worthy of praise, from the ugly — yet thumping — production on “Spit” to the eclectic video game-style production on “Unintelligible.” Even with four of the seven songs being previously shared by the “Shenanigans” artist over the past year, War is still one of the most refreshing alternative rap releases to drop this year.

If you were a fan of xxxtentacion’s hype and screamo output, then you should definitely give Jasiah’s new album a listen. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Tracklist:

1. Zit (feat. Pouya)
2. Break Shit
3. In N Out (feat. TheHxliday & Rico Nasty)
4. Spit
5. Surfs Up

Trump Sued By Two U.S. Capitol Officers Over Deadly Riots: Report

Former POTUS Donald Trump finally concluded his tumultuous four-year term in the Oval Office in January, not without an equally disastrous grand finale. Egregious supporters of the disgraced president stormed into the Capitol building days before President Biden was set to take office on January 6th in an attempt to stop the transfer of power from happening. Trump was impeached and then subsequently acquitted for the deadly incident, but it seems like the socialite may have another lawsuit on his plate.

According to legal documents obtained by Bloomberg, Trump has been served a lawsuit by two U.S. Capitol officers who suffered multiple injuries while defending the building from the attack on January 6th. Similar to the case made by the House against Trump, plaintiffs James Blassingame and Sidney Hemby are arguing that Trump played a role in inciting the violent mob attack that left five dead.

The two officers were on duty when the ‘Stop the Steal’ pro-Trump protest was taking place in D.C., a rally in which former POTUS Trump encouraged his overzealous supporters to go to the Capitol to protest President Biden’s electoral win. The riot followed shortly thereafter.

“… You’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong,” Trump said at the time. “We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

In the lawsuit, Blassingame claims he, “is haunted by the memory of being attacked, and of the sensory impacts – the sights, sounds, smells and even tastes of the attack remain close to the surface. He experiences guilt of being unable to help his colleagues who were simultaneously being attacked; and of surviving where other colleagues did not.”

Brent Stirton/Getty Images

“The carefully orchestrated series of events that unfolded at the Save America rally and the storming of the Capitol was no accident or coincidence,” the lawsuit reads. “It was the intended and foreseeable culmination of a carefully coordinated campaign to interfere with the legal process required to confirm the tally of votes cast in the Electoral College.”

Blassingame and Hemby are seeking monetary damages. While Trump was able to escape prosecution for the riots from the federal government, there’s no telling if he’ll be as successful this time around.
