Nike And MSCHF Reached A Settlement In Their Lawsuit Over Lil Nas X’s ‘Satan Shoes’

Lil Nas X has been the talk of both the entertainment and style worlds for the past couple of weeks. He ruled the former as a result of his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” single, one that left fans divided due to its depictions of hell in its music video. Despite this, the song debuted at No. 1 on the singles chart this past week.

As for the style world, his “Satan Shoes” collaboration with MSCHF, which was a customized Nike Air Max 97 pair, brought even more controversy for more than the pentagram and single drop of human blood that was featured on the sneaker. MSCHF also earned themselves a lawsuit from Nike based on trademark infringement and trademark dilution claims, among other accusations. Now, more than a week after Nike filed the lawsuit, both parties have come to an agreement on the matter according to Billboard.

Nike and MSCHF’s settlement reportedly doesn’t see either party losing or gaining anything significant. The terms of it require MSCHF to ask all consumers of the “Satan Shoes” — as well as the “Jesus Shoes” that the company released years ago — to voluntarily return the sneakers for a full refund. A statement from Nike also notes that any purchaser who experiences a “product issue, defect, or health concern” as a result of keeping either pair should not reach out to them, but rather MSCHF.

The full statement from Nike on the settlement can be read below.

On March 29th, Nike filed a lawsuit against MSCHF over its release of Satan Shoes, which used a Nike Air Max 97 as the base. MSCHF also previously released Jesus Shoes, which used a Nike Air Max 97 as the base. In both cases, MSCHF altered these shoes without Nike’s authorization. Nike had nothing to do with the Satan Shoes or the Jesus Shoes.

Today, April 8th, Nike and MSCHF have agreed to settle the lawsuit.

As part of the settlement, Nike has asked MSCHF, and MSCHF has agreed, to initiate a voluntary recall to buy back any Satan Shoes and Jesus Shoes for their original retail prices, in order to remove them from circulation.

If any purchasers were confused, or if they otherwise want to return their shoes, they may do so for a full refund. Purchasers who choose not to return their shoes and later encounter a product issue, defect, or health concern should contact MSCHF, not Nike.

The parties are pleased to put this dispute behind them.

Jeannie Mai Explains Why She Threw Vows Into Pool After Marrying Jeezy

The recently married Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins are delighting in the first days of their lives as newlyweds. Jeezy and Jeannie Mai have finally tied the knot after getting engaged under quarantine, and after sharing intimate photos of their private gathering, Jeannie has given details about her wedding vows. The 42-year-old talk show host wed the Rap mogul at home in their backyard and recently, Mai shared why she decided to toss her vows into their pool after it was all over.

“I can’t find anybody, whether it’s God himself or the Bible, that would be able to say how I feel for Jay,” said Mai. “For Jay, he’s a man of words. He’s an artist, a songwriter, and he knows exactly how to describe what it feels to marry me. We knew right away that we wanted to write our vows. Jay didn’t write down his vows, he spoke them from the heart.”

Mai added that Jeezy “was able to just tell me how he felt and shared with me his feelings right off his heart, right there in front of our close family friends,” but things didn’t flow as easily for her. She penned three pages of vows. “Everybody knows on The Real that I’m long-winded,” she added. “So my vows were on three pages and I read every word to him.”

When she finished, Jeannie decided to throw “them into the pool because they’ve been sealed in his heart forever.” She also told PEOPLE that they decided to keep their ceremony intimate because there was no way to safely pull off the larger celebration they planned with COVID-19 as a remaining concern. Check out photos and video from the Jenkins’ big day.

Boosie Badazz Praises JT’s Raunchy Lyrics On BRS Kash’s “Throat Baby (Remix)”

We now know that Boosie Badazz is a fan of the remix to BRS Kash’s “Throat Baby.” The track is a breakout for the Atlanta artist and after it went viral on TikTok, Kash found himself with a platinum record and global audience that embraced his explicit single. Soon, he was re-upping the hit with a remix that featured artists like DaBaby and City Girls, and while it was well-received by fans, JT’s line went viral.

While Boosie has been enjoying the “Throat Baby (Remix),” he had to give JT her props while also impersonating her in the process. “She say, ‘I like to be f*cked like a slut.’ The rawest line ever!” Boosie said in a clip shared by The Shade Room. “Man she ripped the whole CD. Made the rawest line on the remix. ‘I like to be f*cked like a slut.'”

BRS Kash took note of Boosie’s video and jumped in the comments. “[Crying laughing emoji] This Man Wild! But She Did Kill It,” he wrote. There’s no word on what JT thinks of Boosie’s impression of her, but we’re sure she’s somewhere having a good laugh. Check out Boosie’s clip below along with the remix to “Throat Baby.”

Giveon Makes His Daytime TV Debut With A Slow-Burning Performance Of ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ On ‘Ellen’

Giveon is undoubtedly one of the brightest and most talented faces in the latest class of R&B artists. It’s a title he claimed in 2020 thanks the release of his Take Time and When It’s All Said And Done EPs. Even though they were both highlights of last year’s R&B releases, Giveon continues to ensure that both projects receive additional shine in 2021.

The latest example of this comes with the Long Beach singer’s daytime TV debut on Ellen. It’s here that he delivered a slow-burning performance of “Heartbreak Anniversary.” Backed by a guitar and pianist, Giveon let his baritone vocals fly for the passionate performance.

The performance comes after Giveon earned his first No. 1 single thanks to his contribution to Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” track, which also saw a guest appearance from Daniel Caesar. The achievement was one of a few highlight moments that occurred this year for the Long Beach native. He also took his talents to NPR’s Tiny Desk for a dazzling set that included performances of “The Beach” and “Stuck On You.” He’s also just weeks removed from the release of When It’s All Said And Done… Take Time, which combined his 2020 EPs into one project with the addition of “All To Me.”

You can watch the “Heartbreak Anniversary” performance above.

When It’s All Said And Done… Take Time is out now via Not So Fast/Epic Records. Get it here.

George Clooney Thinks Derek Chauvin Should Have Someone Kneel On His Neck

Like many other entertainers, George Clooney considers himself to be a social justice warrior. The acclaimed actor has lent his voice to a variety of causes but according to Civil Rights attorney Ben Crump, Clooney has been actively involved in efforts relating to the police-involved killing of George Floyd. We’re in the thick of Derek Chauvin’s murder trial and for many, it has been difficult to watch.

During his recent appearance on The View, Crump revealed that he’s been in regular contact with Clooney who he says wants his wife and three-year-old twins “to live in a better world.” In an email, Crump claims Clooney contested Chauvin’s defense that Floyd died due to drug abuse. “‘Attorney Crump, you should tell them if Derek Chauvin feels so confident in that, he should volunteer during his case, to get down on the floor in that courtroom, and let somebody come and put their knee on his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds and be able to see if he can survive,'” Clooney penned.

Following Floyd’s death, it was widely publicized that despite opposition from witnesses, Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Dave Chappelle even released a poignant politically-driven comedy routine he titled 8:46, however, during the trial, it was revealed that Chauvin actually stayed on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

Entertainment Tonight reportedly confirmed with Clooney’s camp that he sent Crump the email. Watch Attorney Ben Crump’s appearance on The View below.

“We’re done letting corporations manipulate our culture into believing incremental progress is acceptable action,” Diddy tweeted. “IF YOU LOVE US, PAY US. Here’s my letter to corporate America.” Jessie Woo, who had a stint on Love & Hip Hop, took the opportunity to share her experience. “Diddy, it starts with us. I was recently approached to host a show for Revolt and it came without pay. We cannot keep knocking white folks for their disrespect towards minority creators while doing the same thing to each other. I encourage you to be the change we need.”

People also brought up Diddy being at odds with certain artists about pay or not being allowed to own their masters. Bad Boy artists like Ma$e, B5, and Q Parker from 112 have been vocal about not being given what they believe they are owed. Check out several reactions below.
