Jacquees & Erica Banks Connect For “No More Parties” Quemix

The Quemix series has been a staple in Jacquees catalog, especially among his day one fans. Unfortunately, it seems the controversy surrounding Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up” and Jacquees version of the record put the series on hold for a while, though we’ve received a few QueMixes in recent times. The latest record to receive the treatment is Coi LeRay’s “No More Parties.” However, in the rare instance, Jacquees offered this version as a collaboration alongside Erica Banks. It’s a perfect mesh of Jacquees’ crooning and muddy flows from the “Buss It” rapper, drizzled with a bit of auto-tune.

Meanwhile, Coi LeRay’s “No More Parties” is doing serious numbers. The song serves as the artist’s Billboard Hot 100 debut and peaked at #26 while the video to its Lil Durk-assisted remix currently has 25M views.

Quotable Lyrics
Nobody stopped what I’m promised
I’m trending topic
I’m makin’ flips like trampolines
Turn into profit
I bought a mansion wrapped in water
It looks like an island

Keyshia Cole Defends Posting Video Of Her Hickey Following Criticism

There’s a new man in Keyshia Cole’s life and he’s apparently leaving her “love bites.” Back in the Fall of 2020, Keyshia and her ex-husband Daniel Gibson finalized their divorce after years of back and forths. Months prior, Keyshia and rapper Niko Khalé called it quits, and after having some time as a single woman, she may be off the market once again.

The songstress posted a video to her Instagram Story where she showed off a hickey on her neck. “Next time make it darker bae,” she wrote over the clip. “Issa vibe.” The video quickly went viral and people began to comment that Keyshia is too mature to post about such things. “How can u be too old for a hickey ?? You b*tches crazy,” Keyshia tweeted. “And whoever said it. F*ck ya! #Respectfully.”

A Twitter user told Keyshia that they didn’t need to see her personal business and another person stated that it was inappropriate because she’s a mother. “If I were regular would it have mattered?” Keyshia asked. “Hey man. It is what it is. Love is in the air. And that’s ok. People be so caught up and judging…. which is fine. I no longer live for the world or my fans. I live FOR ME!”

After answering a few comments, Keyshia backed off and said, “Let me stop playing with y’all, before y’all really think I give a f*ck! [crying laughing emoji].” Check out the posts below.

50 Cent Reveals Which Rappers Didn’t Make The Cut For “BMF” Or “Power”

50 Cent’s ramping up to tell the tale of Black Mafia Family with his upcoming BMF series. It’s the next series up his sleeve following the success of Power which has already resulted in an award-winning spin-off with a few others on the way. The rapper’s already fielding tons of requests from fellow musicians, both young and old, to join the cast.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, the rapper detailed the success of the series, along with a list of a few rappers who tried to join the cast of either Power or BMF. Unfortunately, they didn’t end up making it onto the show. Pardison Fontaine, famously known for his work with Cardi B, previously auditioned for a role on Power.

“Quavo… he read for one of the characters in BMF; Casanova read for the Omar character in BMF,” he said.

Neither of them ended up making it but perhaps, we’ll end up catching them down the line in some sort of 50 Cent-EP’d show. The rapper’s already enlisted people like Method Man and Mary J. Blige for Power Book II. Kash Doll was recently revealed to be cast for BMF, as well.

While many have wanted to work under 50 Cent on a movie set, the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ MC was recently criticized by De’Andre Bonds from Snowfall who channeled his inner Suge Knight to slam “executive producers who are all in the movie scenes.” Fif didn’t like that.

Conway The Machine, JID, And Ludacris Spit Athletic Verses On ‘Scatter Brain’

It’s been about four months since Conway The Machine released a new project (the deluxe version of From King To A God), so it’s just about exactly the right time for him to drop a new one, semi-unannounced. It’s called La Maquina, it’s packed with production from some of hip-hop’s heaviest hitters (Bangladesh, Cardiak, Don Cannon, and The Alchemist all appear on the tracklist), and loaded with unexpected features like the guests “Scatter Brain,” the single Conway shared just moments ago ahead of the full album’s Friday release.

“Scatter Brain,” which is produced by Don Cannon, features skittering, lightspeed verses from ATLiens JID and Ludacris for a cross-generational cipher-style linkup that lets all three lyrical technicians put their full skillsets on display. The beat features blasting 808s, a ghostly chant, and rainfall snares, providing a different sort of backdrop from those longtime Griselda followers may be used to hearing from Conway, but which he rides with ease and grace. Next up, JID weaves a spider web of a verse with interlocking syllables stacking like a waterfall in reverse.

After a reprise from Conway in which he boasts that he “still get a paycheck from Shady” despite rumors he departed the label last year, Ludacris swoops in to bat cleanup, sounding every bit as athletic as he did in his prime over 10 years ago. As a taste teaser of the upcoming full project, it’s beyond an appetizer — it’s the first hit of a highly addictive substance, leaving fans itching for the full course. Fortunately, they won’t have long to wait; La Maquina is due 4/16 via Griselda.

Bobby Shmurda’s Supposed GF Denies Being The “Homeboy’s Joint”

It’s only been a few months since Bobby Shmurda came home from the feds. He’s spent the past few months making up for the lost time and basking in the glory that he missed out on during the height of his career. Everything has been relatively copacetic until last night when a young lady shared a video that revealed they were dating.

As his name became the top trend on Twitter, the rapper denied that they were dating. In fact, he said that she was actually a “homeboy’s joint,” and proceeded to claim that he never had sexual relations with the woman. “I do not know that girl, bro… On gang, bro. I did not f*ck it, bro. It was not me,” he said in a video that circulated social media.

Despite Bobby denying the rumors, the young lady responded to the clip, doubling down on their relationship status. “Doesn’t know me?! I picked him up from prison. Lefty needa get out your ear,” she wrote in the comments of a post on The Shade Room. Later on, a photo of Bobby Shmurda after he was released surfaced with the young woman next to him.

In related news, the rapper recently previewed new music which could serve as his first single since his release. Check that out here.

Lil Dicky, The National, And More Join The ‘NOW: Climate Action Campaign’ To Fight Climate Change

With climate change continuing to grow in importance as one of the most urgent issues facing society today, non-profit booster Propeller and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) are launching a new awareness initiative called the “NOW: Climate Action Campaign” to raise public consciousness of the looming dangers of climate change.

Beginning Earth Day (April 22) and continuing throughout the year, NOW will leverage the platforms of musicians and festivals to promote climate awareness. To encourage fans to take action — signing petitions, making donations, planting trees, and signing up for education courses — artists and festival partners will offer prizes like custom bikes and more.

Among the artists participating are Lil Dicky, who is offering a trip to an exotic location impacted by climate change so fans can see its effects firsthand, Julien Baker, A-Trak, and The National, while BUKU Music + Arts Festival, Deep Tropics Festival, and Sub Pop Records are all billed as participants as well.

Propeller, a digital marketing company that works to connect non-profit social causes with celebrity endorsers to, well, propel these movements beyond what they might be capable of otherwise, highlighted the importance of the NOW campaign in a press statement from founder Brandon Deroche. “Climate change is only going to be solved with sustained attention and pressure from all of us, and we see this campaign as a way to help energize the movement,” he said.

Lil Dicky, who previously recorded the celebrity charity song “Earth” in 2019 and donated the profits to environmental causes, echoed Deroche’s sentiment. “Climate change is an incredibly important cause for me,” he said. “I’m excited to get fans that may be new to the cause activated through the NOW Climate Action Campaign, and give them the chance to see the impact of climate change first hand.”

More information will be forthcoming but for now, you can learn more at propeller.la and nrdc.org.
