Cordae Takes A Tour Of LA In His Reflective ‘Dream In Color’ Video

Cordae’s comeback continues today with the reflective video for “Dream In Color” from his newly released EP, Just Until…. The video is shot in DIY style, following Cordae and his crew as they wander the streets of Los Angeles, stopping at city landmark Jim’s Burgers (hell yes, that’s a landmark, and any real Angeleno will tell you so) for a quick bite before continuing their explorations.

“Dream In Color” is Cordae’s second video from Just Until… after the sentimental “More Life,” as well as his second video of the year overall. Before releasing the EP, Cordae closed out 2020 with videos for “The Parables,” “Soda” with DJ Scheme and Ski Mask The Slump God, “Freeze Tag” with Dinner Party and Snoop Dogg, and “Gifted” with Roddy Ricch. The handful of releases followed a name change after he left the YBN crew and spent much of 2020 working on a follow-up to his Grammy-nominated debut, The Lost Boy. He also turned up at the US Open, where he cheered on his girlfriend, champion tennis star Naomi Osaka.

With two songs down from his four-song EP, the question now is whether the next video we see from him will be from Just Until… or the long-awaited Lost Boy follow-up.

Cordae is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Jay-Z Explains Why He Doesn’t See Cancel Culture Going Away Anytime Soon

Although it’s widely accepted among reasonable folks that “cancel culture” isn’t necessarily as dangerous as some people with big platforms have made it out to be, it does seem apparent that social media call-outs for problematic behavior have become the new de facto status quo. In a new interview with Sunday Times in the UK about his recent partnership with Puma, Jay-Z addressed the question of whether he foresees an end to the present state of affairs: No way.

“You can’t give someone a microphone for 24 hours a day and [have them] not think they have to use it!” he explained. However, he expressed sympathy for younger social media users who may not have the best grasp of the situations they’re being asked to address. “These kids, it’s unbelievable. Imagine having a microphone and you’re asked about social justice questions at 18 years old? It’s like, ‘What? I’m meant to know the answer, and if I don’t answer the correct way, if I don’t say everything right, even if my intentions are right, and I don’t say the same right thing, it’s going to be everywhere.’”

He doesn’t think he’d be on social media much, even if his rise had come along 20 years later. Meanwhile, he expressed his own views on some of the most pressing social issues being debated online. “As a human race we’re still on basic things,” he said. “We’re still on Stop Asian Hate. We can’t sit and cry over spilled milk, but we do have to acknowledge that there’s milk, right?… it’s very frustrating. Are we here today? No. Are we further than 50 years ago? Yes.”

Nardo Wick Shines On Nightmarish Banger “Shhh”

It’s not entirely uncommon to see the worlds of hip-hop and horror collide, and Florida’s own Nardo Wick is the latest to draw influence from the darker end of the cinematic canon. Enter “Shhh,” the ominous new single inspired by Friday The 13th, which arrives complete with some unsettling visuals.

Where his breakout single “Who Want Smoke” was in-your-face and unrelenting, “Shhh” is more of a slow-creep. Wick’s soft-spoken delivery adds a touch of menace to his clever bars — “You know I don’t talk much, my nina is my translator / claiming you were solid, heard life, and turned to Fantasia” — while his charisma is given free rein to shine over the nightmarish production. In some ways, his vibe is reminiscent of 21 Savage’s Savage Mode, though far more dexterous than the Atlanta rapper’s early rhymes. Provided he continues to build on this foundation, Nardo Wick may very well end up emerging as one of the year’s most exciting new voices.

Check out “Shhh” below, and sound off if you’re intrigued about Nardo Wick’s latest release.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

You know I don’t talk much, my nina is my translator
Claiming you were solid, heard life, and turned to Fantasia
Them n***as don’t ever step, they must use the elevator
Metal stay with me, it’s still a part of me like Terminator

Chris D’Elia Child Porn Accuser Drops All Charges Against Him: Report

Chris D’Elia’s accuser has reportedly withdrawn the lawsuit against him after a month-long legal battle. The accuser, using the pseudonym Jane Doe, initially claimed that the famed comedian possessed child pornography, and was therefore suing him for child exploitation. Doe has since changed her tune, and has told the court that she is dismissing all claims and charges against him.

The legal document acquired by Radar read, “Plaintiff, Jane Doe, and her counsel hereby give notice that the above-entitled action is voluntarily dismissed, without prejudice, against the Defendant.”

Doe originally filed these claims back in March 2021, stating that D’Elia violated federal child pornography and child sexual exploitation laws. She claimed she met the former Whitney star on Instagram in September 2014 before taking their conversation over to the social media platform Snapchat. Doe’s lawsuit followed a string of sexual misconduct allegations against D’Elia from the year prior.

Doe claimed D’Elia solicited over 100 sexually explicit photos and videos of herself, half of which were taken when she was only 17 and he was 34. She also stated that she admitted to being a virgin before having sex with the comedian in a hotel room.

The lawsuit was seeking a court order to release the explicit photos D’Elia possessed of her along with unspecified damages.

After filing the lawsuit, Jane said in a statement, “When I was in my final year of high school and still a child, I was groomed by a celebrity twice my age. Chris D’Elia abused his status and fame to lure me in, take advantage, and manipulate me when I was at a vulnerable age.”

Chris D’Elia took a hiatus from his podcast and social media when the allegations were first surfacing, however he finally returned in February and admitted that sex was controlling his life, which you can check here.

“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” Gets A New Trailer

It’s truly impressive to look back on what 50 Cent and Courtney Kemp built with Power, the Starz original series that kickstarted an extended storytelling universe. After Power wrapped up its six-season run in February of 2020, the saga continued with Power Book II: Ghost, which premiered in September of that same year. Now, Power Book III: Raising Kanan is on the horizon, slated for release on July 18th.

With the big release only a few months away, Starz came through to drop off a brand new teaser trailer for the upcoming series, which stars Mekai Curtis in the titular role, Patina Miller, Omar Epps, Malcolm M Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$, Natalee Linez, Lovie Simone, and more. While brief, the new trailer for Raising Kanan goes a long way in setting a tone, taking things back to Southside Jamaica Queens in the early nineties.

“These streets don’t play Kanan,” explains Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller), queen-pin mother of the 15-year old Kanan Starks. “You’re only as good as your crew.” Before long, the familiar voice of 50 Cent enters the mix: “you already know how my shit ended. This is how it started.” Though little in the way of plot details are unveiled, the teaser does feature a heavy presence from Epps’, who appears to be playing a police officer and inevitable foil to Raquel Thomas’ character.

“This is it right here, the golden era,” writes 50, sharing the clip on his Twitter page. “Raising Kanan. Must-see TV.” Check it out for yourself below, and sound off if you plan on tuning in when Raising Kanan premieres this July.

Raekwon Announces “From Staircase To Stage” Autobiography

When it comes to hip-hop history, one of the most compelling origin stories has to center around the rise of the Wu-Tang Clan. There’s a reason it has been so often covered, be it in the substantial documentary Wu-Tang: Of Mics & Men or the dramatic Hulu original series Wu-Tang: An American SagaStill, there remains plenty to unpack on an individual level, and Raekwon The Chef has come forward to announce his brand new autobiography From Staircase To Stage.

Taking to Instagram to spread the word, Rae teased a little bit of what’s to come while unveiling the cover art and a brief synopsis. “A story of a kid from Staten Island who faced countless adversities to then connect with one of the biggest hip hop groups on the planet !!!” he captions. “To my Fans across the globe…. this is my story to you… I need y’all to grab this.”

Written alongside Anthony Bozza, an official description of From Staircase To Stage reads as follows

For the first time, Raekwon tells his full story, from struggling through poverty to make ends meet to turning a hobby into a legacy. The Wu-Tang story is dense, complex, and full of drama, and here nothing is off limits: the group’s underground origins, secrets behind songs like “C.R.E.A.M.” and “Protect Ya Neck,” and what it took to be one of the first hip-hop groups to break into the mainstream. Raekwon also dives deep into the making of his meticulous solo albums—particularly the classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx—and talks about how spirituality and fatherhood continue to inspire his unstoppable creative process.

Given that Raekwon is easily one of the game’s most elite and esteemed lyricists, a first-hand account of his origin story should be essential reading for any hip-hop head. And to think, it’s dropping on November 9th, right around the corner from gifting season. Do you think you’ll be tuning in to secure a copy of this one?
