Charlamagne Mocks Floyd Mayweather: “I’m Telling My Kids This Was Selma”

Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul are set to go head to head with each other in an exhibition boxing match on June 6th. Considering Mayweather doesn’t have anything to lose in terms of his 50-0 standing, the match is more of a scrimmage for the boxing legend than anything. Still, to build up anticipation for the event, the pair came together for a customary press conference yesterday (May 7) ahead of the event.

While the event went smoothly, perhaps the most intriguing part came when Paul snatched Mayweather’s hat off. From there, Mayweather and his security go after Paul, with Mayweather eventually putting him into a headlock. Many photos from the physical altercation have circulated the internet, with Charlamagne tha God wasting no time giving them meme treatment.

Sharing a black and white photo from the altercation of Floyd reaching for Paul in the moments after grabbing his hat, the controversial radio presenter joked, “I’m a tell my kids this was Selma in 1965.”

He continued, “A turning point in the Civil Rights Movement they knucked, we bucked…..” Reaching nearly 150,000 likes, the popular meme format elects using funny photos for a modern retelling of history.

The Selma March in March of 1965 notably turned violent after 600 or so protestors faced brutal attacks on the Edmund Pettus Bridge by oncoming state troopers. Footage of the attacks collectively shocked the nation and became a turning point for Civil Rights in the United States.

Check out clips from the altercation above and below if you haven’t seen them already.

Benny The Butcher Taps Che Noir & Klass Murda For “Love Left”

Benny The Butcher has been on a tear these days, seemingly exhibiting a Midas touch when it comes to the bars. Today, he continues the tradition with another new single, this time enlisting Che Noir and Klass Murda for the hard-hitting banger “Love Left.” Immediately conjuring up the eighties with a larger-than-life vocal sample.

Setting off is The Butcher himself, who reflects on themes of betrayal and the high cost of success. “You the type to change up on me soon as you get around company,” he spits. “Looking for attention, speaking on business publically / suddenly I’m supposed to forget it like you fuck with me, when the knife you stabbed in my back is still stuck in me.” Che Noir holds it down for the second verse, proving that she’s not one to be underestimated when it comes to the pen. Check it out for yourself below, and sound off with your thoughts on “Love Left” in the comments below.

Fans React To J. Cole’s New Song “i n t e r l u d e”

In case it wasn’t already abundantly clear, North Carolina rapper J. Cole is going down in history as one of the best to ever do it. He has proven time and time again that he’s one of the world’s most elite wordsmiths on the microphone, spitting with raw emotion and consistently managing to create tongue-twisters and thought-provoking rhyme patterns in his music. With only one week left before the release of his upcoming studio album The Off-Season, Cole decided that it was time to return the real, dropping the lead single “i n t e r l u d e” on Friday night. While the record may simply be an interlude, it has his fans convinced that there aren’t very many people that can out-stage the rapper.

As reactions continue to pour in across social media for J. Cole’s latest single release, people appear to have reached a consensus that the Dreamville rapper is likely one of the greatest to have ever rapped on a large scale. Cole has been trending since before the song was released and right now, there’s a pretty dominant ratio of people who love the track in comparison to those who aren’t feeling it.

Most notably, people have been going crazy over Cole’s tribute to Nipsey Hussle and Pimp C. In the song, the rapper points out that, along with Jesus Christ himself, Pimp C and Nipsey both passed away at the age of thirty-three. “Christ went to Heaven, age thirty-three, and so did Pimp C, and so did Nipsey,” he raps on “i n t e r l u d e.”

Fans are excited about what’s to come from the 36-year-old superstar, agreeing that he might have finally entered his prime after years of comparisons to the likes of Kendrick Lamar. What did you think of the new song? Are you ready for The Off-Season next week?

Swizz Beatz Seemingly Isn’t A Fan Of The Game’s Top 10 Rappers List

The Game decided to share his list of the best ten rappers that are still alive (in his opinion) on social media this week, causing quite a bit of shock with his choices. Specifying that he had left himself out of the conversation, The Game revealed that JAY-Z, Nas, and Eminem are at the top of his list. That’s not where people found issues. Near the end of his top ten, the rapper included names like Lil Baby, J. Cole, and Snoop Dogg, which didn’t entirely resonate with his audience.

His list was widely publicized after he posted it, being shared on popular hip-hop blogs across Instagram and Twitter. The Game has yet to clarify some of his picks from the list, which was published fourteen hours ago at the time of publication, but it doesn’t seem to correspond to a lot of other people’s personal selections. Even Swizz Beatz made sure to seemingly tell The Game that he wasn’t feeling this list.

Instagram

Commenting the “X” emoji on Akademiks’ post of the tally, Swizz Beatz racked up over a thousand likes as people rushed to find contrarian responses to The Game. Some folks are upset that Game would decide to place J. Cole on the list over somebody like Kanye West, who has been in the game for longer and has a near-perfect discography. Others are calling out Game for claiming he can go blow-for-blow with any rapper on the list, even Eminem and Nas. “The game is NOT seeing Nas bar for bar,” wrote a fan in the comments.

What do you think about The Game’s list? Do you agree with him, or are you more on Swizz Beatz’s side?

Chief Keef, Ballout & Tadoe Unite For “On Gang”

The roster of artists under Chief Keef’s Glo Gang banner embody very similar values to the famed Chicago spitter himself. Known for their saw bars about street life and violence, they actually live the type of life they rap about. Tray Savage, an artist signed to the Glory Boyz Entertainment label, was gunned down in a shooting on the southside of Chicago last summer.

On “On Gang,” the selected members of the collective lament on lost ones and more, with Keef notably rhyming, “Rest in peace to Tray Savage, I’m tryna MAC something.” The trio, who have recently united to from the “Glo Gang” supergroup, exchange gritty bars for nearly four minutes straight about their shared experiences growing up in tough Chicago neighborhoods.

Keef and Ballout do the most heavy-lifting on the track, with the former laying down at least three full verses and the latter clocking in at about two. The Glo Gang album is slated for a summertime release. Give “On Gang” a listen below and as usual, let us know what you think down in the comments!

Quotable Lyrics:

At the dinner table with the Glock up on a holster
Chopper from Iran, bitch, I be hangin’ with some soldiers
The blueface is the bread and the money machine the toaster
Ain’t used to wanna crease my shoes now I walk on the back of ’em

Deante Hitchcock Continues His Streak With “Wait Until Summer”

Deante Hitchcock’s recent Better album proved that the rapper could string together a cohesive and versatile body of work, one that put a wide variety of different styles on display. Since its release, however, Hitchcock has been on an absolute tear, hellbent on showcasing how nice with the bars he truly is. Case in point, his recent freestyle over Spillage Village’s “Baptize” may very well be an early verse-of-the-year contender.

With hype for his upcoming album currently heating up, Hitchcock has come through with another new freestyle in “Wait Until Summer,” which may very well point to his release plans. Though this latest only runs for a minute or so, Hitchcock absolutely bodies the synth-driven instrumental with an expertly-flowed verse. “They want that fire, give it to em’ like I owe em that,” he spits. “I run my team like the owner, coach, or the quarterback / tryna show em’ how far we Kangol like hats on them older cats, jumpin’ Jehosaphat.”

Clearly, Hitchcock is a man on a mission right now, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table on his upcoming album. Check out his latest freestyle now.

Night Lovell Is Back With “Just Say You Don’t Care”

It’s been two years since Ottawa-bred rapper Night Lovell blessed his cult-like following with GOODNIGHT LOVELL, and since that time, he’s inked a new record deal with G59 Records, the same imprint that is home to $uicideboys, Shakewell, Ramirez, and Germ– so it’s clear with Lovell’s equally dark and sinister style that he’ll fit right in among his labelmates. Although it’s worth noting, none make an appearance on this particular project — nor do any other features.

The rapper has been exploring the depths of his voice while pushing the atmospheric melodies forward ever since his debut with Red Teenage Melody, and it’s territory he hasn’t left behind on Just Say You Don’t Care, either. The new album contains 14 records, including lead singles like “Counting Down the List,” “Bottom Top” and “Alone.”

We also featured Night as On the Come Up back in 2018– if you missed that, or are unfamiliar, catch up below.

Check out Just Say You Don’t Care and let us know if you’ll be keeping it on rotation this weekend. Any immediate stand-outs? Drop them in the comments.
