Rick Ross Responds To The BAL Player That Called J. Cole’s Roster Spot ‘Disrespectful To The Game’

Shortly after the release of his latest album, The Off-Season, J. Cole played his first game in the Basketball Africa League. The Dreamville rapper had signed with the Rwanda Patriots to play six matches with the team. Three games have already gone by and while it may be exciting for some to watch Cole play professional basketball, his stats haven’t been great. The rapper has only scored five points in those three games, a performance that caused one BAL player to criticize his roster spot.

“For a guy who has so much money and has another career to just come here and average, like, one point a game and still get glorified is very disrespectful to the game,” Terrell Stoglin, a guard for AS Salé, said. Some people agreed with Stoglin, while others, like Rick Ross, did not. In fact, Ross took to his Instagram Story to respond to Stoglin’s statement.

“In no way is this meant to be disrespectful, but first and foremost, should no Black man’s dreams be censored nor limited,” Ross said. “Comin’ from a brother, I think you would understand what building these types of relationships would do for the business. For the eyes on the industry, you know what I’m sayin’?” He added, “You should be there to support the brother. If he made one point on the first game, by the time he get to the 10th, you should make sure he makin’ six a game, you understand?”

Summer Walker Doubles Down On Not Revealing Baby On Social Media

Fans are eager to get a sneak peek at Summer Walker and London On Da Track’s baby, but the famous parents are keeping their child away from prying eyes. Back in March, Summer and London welcomed their baby girl into the world, and the singer has been infrequently shared bits about her bundle of joy. She returned to Instagram today with photos of herself holding her tiny mini-me, but all fans could see was the baby’s legs in the pictures.

It didn’t take long for fans to storm Summer’s comment section with requests to see her daughter’s face, but Summer isn’t budging when it comes to her baby.

She took to her Instagram Story to explain why she refuses to buckle. “Yall: POST THE BABY B*TCH WE WANNT SEE!” Summer wrote. “Also y’all: roasting a baby who’s face you can’t even see. lol make it make sense.” While other famous parents often create social media accounts for their children and immediately show off their kids, it’s clear that Summer and London are going a different route.

“In conclusion mf’s is weird and I will never post my baby so stop asking,” Summer concluded. Check out the posts below and let us know if you think it’s “weird” for fans to want to see a celebrity’s child.

“Jackass 4” Director Jeff Tremaine Files For Restraining Order Against Bam Margera

We’re four months away from the scheduled premiere of Jackass 4 and all hell is breaking loose. The longtime friends and stuntmen got their beginnings on MTV thanks to Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonez, and director Jeff Tremaine. There have been spinoffs, movies, and specials over the years showcasing Knoxville and Co. pulling off ridiculous stunts, but some of the stars have gone down rough paths. Bam Margera has reportedly been in and out of rehab as he struggles with addiction, and while he was all set to reunite with the Jackass crew for the next film, it was recently shared that Margera had been fired.

TMZ now reports that things must be crazier than we think behind the scenes because Jeff Tremaine has filed for a restraining order against his former friend Margera.

Knoxville has previously publicly spoken about Margera, his arrests, and his addictions, but this time around, it seems that production is keeping things hush-hush. TMZ reports that details regarding what may have caused Tremaine to take things to court are unknown at this time, but Margera has repeatedly come forward with social media rants about production and the Jackass crew.

Steve-O has commented on the division, saying both Margera and Tremaine “are the same two people who organized the intervention which saved my life… Everyone bent over backwards to get [Margera] in the movie, and all you had to do was not get loaded. You’ve continued to get loaded, it’s that simple”.

Margera has also accused production of edging him out of the film and called on his fans to boycott Jackass 4 when it hits theaters this Fall, but he’s often flip-flopped depending on his feelings about his friends from day-to-day. Check out a video of Bam Margera below.

Earthgang’s ‘Aretha’ Is A Soulful Account Of The Duo’s Highs And Lows Over The Last Year

If you ask Earthgang about their upcoming sophomore album, Ghetto Gods, the Atlanta rap duo will tell you it’s ready to be released. In fact, they originally teased that it would arrive on the same day as J. Cole’s latest effort, The Off-Season, which dropped on May 14. Sadly hat day came and went without Ghetto Gods, for reasons unknown to fans as well as the rappers themselves. Luckily, it appears that it’s finally on its way, as the duo released one of its songs, “Aretha.”

It’s a soul-driven effort that sees the duo reflecting on the highs and lows that occurred during their journey as artists. Johnny Venus leads the way with a verse recounting a disappointing moment from his career. “‘Options‘ dropped, barely made a sound, damn / I guess we let Nas and Cole down,” he said, referencing Earthgang’s 2020 single with Wale. As for WowGr8, he brings a bit more optimism to the mix. “This what I’m addicted to, this all I’m committed to,” he declares. “Set my sights on bigger moves, feel like this is middle school.”

“Aretha” is Earthgang’s second track in a little over two weeks, as they teamed up earlier this month to remix Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”

You can listen to “Aretha” in the video above.

Wale is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

SZA Calls Out Publication For Not Allowing Her To Use Black Photographer

It’s not uncommon for artists to put in requests when they’re booked for various events. Whether it’s a concert or a photoshoot, an artist can ask venues and publications for special services. Over the years, there has been an increase in the desire for Black artists to use Black creatives for photoshoots, including Beyoncé who wanted Tyler Mitchell to capture her Voguecover and feature back in 2018.

According to SZA, she, too, wanted a similar shoot with a publication but wasn’t given the same freedom to use a Black photographer.

The Top Dawg Entertainment singer took to her Twitter to share a recent experience. “I requested a black photographer for a cover n the mag told me no lol its 2021,” SZA tweeted. “And almost Juneteenth . Respectfully I can’t do it [pleading face emoji][shrug emoji].” Juneteeth refers to “June 19,” an unofficial holiday commemorating the day that enslaved Black people in Texas learned of their freedom and that slavery had been outlawed two years prior.

One of SZA’s fans wanted her to name the publication, but the singer didn’t want to go that route. “Das not my vibe but there’s TOO many elite black creatives rn to not allow it.” That hasn’t stopped fans from guessing, but it looks as if SZA will remain tight-lipped. She did, however, give praise to the outlets that have been flexible.

“S/o @RollingStone @Cosmopolitan and @wonderlandmag btw for all using black photogs in our recent covers [purprle heart emoji] gotta celebrate when it’s RIGHT too ! [praying hands emoji][yellow heart emoji].” Soon, Black photographers began storming her comments.

Arsonal The Rebel & NLE Choppa Connect On “Wrong N***a”

From the streets of New Jersey, Arsonal has already established himself as a beast on the mic. However, there are few rappers in the battle rap world who’ve successfully transitioned as artists. Arsonal is certainly more well-known in battle rap but he’s known to put out his own bangers.

This week, the rapper returned with a brand new heater alongside one of the hottest newcomers in the game, NLE Choppa, for their new collaboration, “Wrong N***a.” The production leans more towards the animated style of NLE Choppa but Arsonal comes equipped with a clip of bars to let off on his verse. It’s Choppa who brings the energy up on his verse, even if he isn’t attempting to stay lyrically on par with his collaborator.

Peep the record below.

Quality Control’s Metro Marrs Breaks Silence After Graduation Arrest

By now, you’ve probably seen the viral clip of Quality Control rapper Metro Marrs getting arrested at his high school graduation. The budding rapper was seen in handcuffs with police escorts after throwing upwards of $10K after receiving his diploma. It’s a triumphant moment for any high school student but for a Quality Control signee, it seemed only appropriate that he made it rain in the auditorium since he is yet of age to make it rain with Migos at Magic City.

His manager told TheShadeRoom that the rapper was stopped for disorderly conduct and trying to start a riot. Metro explained that he hasn’t seen his classmates all year because of the pandemic and this was his final gesture to give back to his school. He explained that some of his classmates might not even receive a monetary gift for graduation. In a sense, it was pretty much a charitable donation to an educational institute.

“I was creating a moment that would be memorable,” he said, adding that he needed to tape the cash to his body in order to pull the maneuver. He also waited until everyone else had their moment before deciding to make it rain. “I had to do that for the last time. Everybody was lit! We graduating high school!”

Apparently, it was only the police that was upset over the gesture since other parents and students were demanding that the police let him go.

Ultimately, the rapper was detained for a few hours before being released. It’s unclear if he faces charges.

Vivica Fox Calls 50 Cent “The Love Of My Life”

They’ve engaged in heated exchanges regarding their brief 2003 romance over the years, but it seems that Vivica Fox still has a soft spot for 50 Cent. It shocked the entertainment world to see the actress take comfort in the arms of the New York rapper, but according to Vivica, the two were a good match.

While speaking with VladTV about her life and career, Vivica touched on that time with 50 Cent and detailed why their romance came to an abrupt end all those years ago.

“We met after he said the thing at the Soul Train Music Awards. ‘And I want to thank Vivica Fox for wearing that dress,'” the actress recalled. “I was shocked… I was just kinda like, wow. And then after that, his people got in touch with my people and next thing I know, we were on the phone and my birthday was coming up and he’s such a gentleman. He’s very generous. His—I know him as Curtis, always will, and the 50 Cent, those are his performing things and who he is as a man. So, I met Curtis.”

Vivica explained that for her birthday, Fif “filled my entire house with my favorite flowers.” It was a huge moment in history for 50 Cent at the time as his career was at one of its many peaks. The attention put pressure on the relationship and ultimately contributed to its downfall. “I was already Vivica Fox from Independence Day, this that and the third, and he now is becoming this huge mega Rap star who is crossing over with ‘In Da Club.’ I was used to fame and the main thing that killed the relationship is that we just went way too public way too fast.”

“The love that I had for him, and still to this day, will always—he was the love of my life,” said Vivica. “I will admit that without any reservations. He will always have a special place in my heart. But the reason that the relationship ended is because we went way too public, way too fast.”
