Termanology & Statik Selektah Reunite On “1982: The Summer EP”

Termanology and Statik Selektah never disappoint when they join forces. The rapper and producer formally introduced themselves in 2010 with the release of 1982. Though they’ve released a few projects together since then, they’ve also been heavily grinding away on their own efforts.

For the 4th of July, Term and Statik came through with a quick EP titled, 1982: The Summer EP. The three-track effort is short but packed with features. Bun B and C-Sharp collide with Statik and Termanology on “Stay Fly.” Meanwhile, Skyzoo and Jared Evan assist in bringing the Tri-State heat on “Summer In New York.” Additionally, Statik and Termanology also get some assistance from Mia Jae and Sammy Adams for “Close To Me.”

The smooth three-track EP is necessary to have in rotation this summer. Check it out below.

“I ain’t gon’ lie. To be honest, I’m working on some joint albums already,” he admitted on Bootleg Kev’s podcast. “Me and Grizzley been locked in. We trying to do some shit. Me and Grizzley got some crazy shit. I wanna do a joint with Polo. Me and Polo probably gon’ do a joint.”

In terms of a dream project in collaboration with another rapper, Herbo said that he would love to lock in with Jay-Z. “I need like 2, 3, 4, 5 songs with Hov,” he said.

Though it is quite exciting to know that two generations of drill could be connecting for a joint effort, fans are still anticipating the release of Herbo’s collaborative project with Lil Bibby. Herbo confirmed that this would still see the light of day, though it requires pulling Bibby out of retirement.

“He on some mogul shit right now,” Herbo said. “I wanna drag him out of retirement, man. I think he gon’ rap, though. He gon’ put some shit out, fasho, ’cause he still love music, bro.”

“I don’t think people really realize bro really hard as f*ck. It’s not n***as out here that could really rap better than him. He just be chillin’,” Herbo continued.

This week, the rapper returned with his latest single, “Feeling like dat.” The rapper offers unadulterated emotions on this one, detailing the paranoia that lingers in the streets, death, and his own suicidal thoughts. “Spin on a n***a block with too many shots, they gon’ think that God comin’,” he raps on the record.

ScHoolboy Q Relays A Message To Kendrick Lamar On Behalf Of A Fan

Will Kendrick Lamar drop in 2021? That’s the question that fans have been demanding an answer for since, well, last year. The enigmatic rapper has remained lowkey in the past two years, though there have been some promising rumblings of his next project. Most recently, The Game said that he heard Kendrick is dropping “real soon,” though he admitted it was only hearsay.

Since Kendrick is hardly on social media, fans have been calling on other members of the Top Dawg camp for an update on his album. ScHoolboy Q just so happens to be the latest to field questions from fans. The rapper made a rare appearance on Twitter this afternoon where he did a brief Q&A. “I feel good today,” he tweeted before an opportunistic fan asked Q to relay a message on their behalf. “Tell Kendrick to drop then,” the fan responded.

While we all wish it were that easy, ScHoolboy Q quickly quoted the tweet and obliged the fan’s request. “Aye @kendricklamar drop,” Q tweeted.

Elsewhere in his Q&A, ScHoolboy also chimed in on the release of Tyler, The Creator’s new album. He revealed that “Corso” and “da Wayne joint” are his personal favorites off of the project.

With all this talk of new albums, many of his own fans used his brief activity on Twitter to get information on the follow-up to CrasH Talk. While the rapper did joke that he’s a “full time twitcH streamer,” he later said that he’ll put music out. When we could expect that remains a mystery but the TDE camp is clearly putting in work. Check Q’s tweets below.

Yung Baby Tate’s Freestyle On Doja Cat’s ‘Get Into (Yuh)’ Has Fans Campaigning For An Official Remix

Doja Cat may have already put out a deluxe version of her recent album Planet Her featuring Gunna and Eve, but that hasn’t stopped fans — and some of Doja’s peers — from campaigning for a remix featuring just one more rapper whose visual aesthetic matches Doja’s well: Yung Baby Tate. The Atlanta rapper posted a video of herself freestyling to the instrumental from the exuberant Planet Her song “Get Into It (Yuh),” sparking interest in an official remix featuring the verse.

Although Doja’s already released the album and a deluxe version, if anyone were to advocate for a sharp rapper like Tate, it’d be Doja Cat, who explained when releasing her new album that she put rappers like Gunna, JID, and Smino on her projects to highlight her love for “bars.” Certainly, Tate is someone who’d have worked with Doja had they crossed paths earlier in their careers; her breakout project, GIRLS, featured collabs with female rappers like Bbymutha, Kari Faux, and Latto (formerly Mulatto).

Both rappers will be busy this year, though, with Doja touring Planet Her and Tate appearing on Love & Hip-Hop. Additionally, Doja made it clear that she doesn’t plan on doing too many more collabs going forward because she doesn’t want them to sound like mashups — but since this verse already exists, maybe she can make an exception.

Yung Baby Tate is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Naturi Naughton Defends Phylicia Rashad Over Bill Cosby Comments

Naturi Naughton took to Instagram following the immediate backlash that Phylicia Rashad received, begging the question, “Why are Black People so quick to #Cancel each other!”

The vocalist went on to say that she is in defense of Creed actress and Howard professor, closing with “#TheCosbyShowChangedLives.”

Following Bill Cosby’s overturned conviction and release from prison on June 30, Phylicia Rashad, who played the role of Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show responded on Instagram with jubilance, writing “FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted – a miscarriage of justice is corrected,” resulting in pleas to lose her teaching position as well as sheer disappointment from her fans.

Harping back on what Naughton had to say, there is no doubt that the show was beneficial for countless people, be that stars on the show like Raven-Symoné or those who simply watched it. Nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the controversiality of Rashad’s comments, with many people on Twitter exposing her for being ignorant, sarcastically asking, “Was she there?”.

Cosby’s allegations have come across from over 50 women with all crimes spanning from sexual misconduct to rape. Though Naughton did not necessarily comment on Cosby’s position, we will keep you updated further if she has more to say.
