Trick Daddy Doubles Down On JAY-Z & Beyoncé Comments

Trick Daddy doesn’t think he said anything out of pocket when he dissed Beyoncé and JAY-Z during a Clubhouse panel this week. The rapper told hundreds of people that he doesn’t think Beyoncé can sing, also disrespecting JAY-Z by saying that he’s not the best rapper. As a result, the Beyhive has been swarming Trick Daddy on social media, ganging up on the 46-year-old rapper and demanding an apology. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they’ll be getting anything of the sort because on his radio show this morning, the Florida rapper doubled down on his statement, telling listeners that he meant what he said and that he doesn’t think it was wrong to come at the Carters.

He said that during the same conversation, the panel spoke about ways to make their respective cities and communities better places, but he’s not surprised that the Beyoncé and JAY-Z slander got picked up by the media. “What I said was I don’t think Beyoncé can sing and Beyoncé is to R&B what JAY-Z is to the state of hip-hop in New York at the time when JAY-Z considered himself as the king of hip-hop,” said Trick Daddy. “Which is my opinion. And opinions are like buttholes: without ’em, you’d be full of doodoo.”

He continued to explain himself, telling his fans that he was simply stating his “unpopular opinion.” “That’s my opinion. I’ve said many times on the radio that they’re wonderful businesspeople. Jigga made a lot of money, he got a whole lotta money. But did I say anything disrespectful? No. Did I call them out they names? No, I didn’t,” said Trick. “But before I said that, because a lot of females love Beyoncé, I said she’s the lady Jesus Christ to them, which is not a bad thing. Actually, that’s a compliment ’cause Jesus Christ was a powerful and lovable person. But if you got a problem with speaking your own mind, I apologize.”

Do you think Trick Daddy said anything wrong? Trina, his close affiliate, showed love to Beyoncé and JAY-Z this morning on social media. Read about that here.

Kamala Harris Blamed By Nina Simone’s Family For Losing Their Estate

Chloe Bailey of Beyoncé-signed duo Chloe x Halle recently paid tribute to the late songstress Nina Simone with a silky cover of her classic, “Feeling Good.” Reactions to the cover were polarized, although the granddaughter of the acclaimed songstress RéAnna Simone Kelly took to Twitter to jump to her defense, praising the songstress for the performance.

RéAnna Simone Kelly later took to Twitter once again to air out some family drama, name-dropping current Vice President Kamala Harris as a main player in the situation. Simone’s granddaughter accused Harris of “taking away” the iconic singer’s estate and handing it over “to white people,” which left her so poor she considered “stripping to pay my bills.”

“Nina’s granddaughter here,” ReAnna Simone Kelly wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “My family doesn’t run her estate anymore. It was taken away from us [and] given to white people. Our family name was DRAGGED in the media. We get NO royalties, nothing. Wanna hold someone accountable? Ask Kamala Harris why she came for my family.”

“Our family name was DRAGGED in the media. We get NO royalties, nothing,” said the 22-year-old of an intense 2013 legal battle over Nina’s estate handling while Harris was serving as attorney general of California. “Wanna hold someone accountable? Ask Kamala Harris why she came for my family,” added Simone Kelly in the lengthy thread.

She continued, “Ask her why she separated my family. Ask her why my grandmothers estate is in SHAMBLES now. Ask her why we as her family no longer own the rights to anything. Ask her why she bullied my mother in court and my mom almost killed herself from the depression.” She also revealed her mother, Lisa Simone, was put under a “gag order,” leaving their family “separated” from the songstress’ legacy.

The rant was over her family losing a legal battle against then-attorney general Kamala Harris with the singer’s daughter Lisa Simone Kelly after she was accused of “breaching her fiduciary duty.” Simone Kelly was then ordered to relinquish her rights to her mother’s work as well as the title of estate administrator. She later took to Instagram to support her daughter, praising her for “coming out blazing.”

Kamala Harris has yet to release a statement regarding the situation.

Ex-NFL Star Warren Moon Says “Several” Teammates Were Gay, Praises Carl Nassib

Carl Nassib made history this past week by coming out as the NFL’s first active openly gay player during the final weeks of Pride Month. However, according to NFL veteran Warren Moon, Nassib is one of many present and past gay NFL players– though they were too nervous to make it public.

Moon, who began his career in the NFL in 1984 with the Houston Oilers, praised Nassib in a series of tweets last night while also discussing the increasing diversity and acceptance found in the NFL community today.

“We live in a different time now where diversity is much more accepted. Cheers Carl, and I hope this lets other athletes know, its OK to say who you are,” Moon wrote. Moon went on to commend past teammates who weren’t able to come out as Nassib has: “I played with several guys who never were comfortable enough to go public. They were great teammates, & obviously very talented.”

Surprisingly, Moon clarifies that teammates were never an obstacle in safely coming out– “as long as they helped us win and were great teammates- their sexual preference was never a issue”– placing more blame on franchises and fans for lack of acceptance.

Nassib’s Instagram video announcement yesterday was met with considerable encouragement and support. However, Moon’s tweets have been subject to a series of more mixed reactions. Multiple commenters criticized moon for his deduction of homosexuality to a “sexual preference”– “Your support is great, yet its important to understand this is not about “sexual preference” but about who people are,” a Twitter user wrote. Other users joined in on the support but look forward to a future that doesn’t require large publicized announcements in order to come out.

Are you excited for a more accepting NFL? Check out the tweets and some reactions below:

A Coi Leray, Kodak Black, & Mustard Collab Is On The Way

Coi Leray has established herself as one of hip-hop’s most popular new artists, having recently secured a position on the XXL Freshman Class of 2021. Though some haven’t quite gotten on board with the distinctive melodist, many have become endeared to Leray’s personality and unique voice, to the point where her breakout single “No More Parties” has already gone platinum.

Now, Leray continues to keep the momentum going, carrying on her tradition of connecting with rappers for her upcoming single “At The Top.” Having recently linked with Pooh Shiesty on “Big PURR,” EarthGang on “Options Remix,” and Dave East on an unreleased track, Leray has officially teamed up with Kodak Black and Mustard for her next big release.

This Friday, June 25th, the unexpected trio will be dropping off “At The Top,” a single presumably set to appear on Leray’s upcoming album. It should be interesting to hear how the pair play off of one another, as Kodak has typically shied away from the mainstream sound since his release from prison. Perhaps Leray will be the catalyst for his return to the charts, a place with which she’s becoming increasingly familiar.

Look for “At The Top” to land at the end of the week, and sound off if you’re excited to see what Coi Leray, Kodak Black, and DJ Mustard have concocted.

Cardi B’s Role In ‘F9’ Will Carry Over To Future Sequels, According To Vin Diesel

Cardi B’s role in F9 may be bigger than anyone previously expected if Vin Diesel’s comments in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight are to be believed. Diesel, the series’ undisputed center, told ET that Leysa, Cardi’s character in the latest installment of the franchise, has a storyline that could continue for another two movies in the series.

Diesel confirmed that the next two movies will be the franchise’s finale, and Cardi’s role will be much more than just a cameo. “We are very much excited to evolve her character and to expand it to the finale,” he said. “She made it just in time. She came in Fast 9 just in time.”

In a separate statement, the film’s director Justin Lin had plenty of nice things to say about the newest cast member. “I love Cardi,” he gushed. “I mean, it’s amazing she showed up and within a minute she’s part of the family. And I love how when I got together with her, her and Vin were talking about the character because she’s actually really embedded into the overall universe, she’s been around for a long time and this is just the first time we are seeing her, so I’m really excited to explore that character of her. I’ll work with her any day.”

You can check out Cardi’s role in F9 this Friday, June 25.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

J. Cole Announces His ‘The Off-Season’ Tour With 21 Savage And Morray

J. Cole may have found an unusual way to promote his new album The Off-Season by playing pro basketball in Africa, and a successful one at that. The album dominated the Billboard charts, debuting at No. 1 on the albums chart with the year’s highest streaming year so far. Sometimes, though, the old ways are the best, so he’s also taking the show on the road this fall with The Off-Season Tour featuring two of the album’s guest rappers, 21 Savage and Morray.

The tour will hit 17 cities beginning in September with Miami, FL, and concluding in October at LA’s The Forum. Tickets go on sale beginning Friday, June 25 at 10 AM local time. You can check Dreamville.com for more information. See the full list of stops and dates below.

Usher Allegedly Sent T-Pain Into A Long Depression By Saying His Auto-Tuned Singing ‘F*cked Up Music’

T-Pain is a talented vocalist, as he has proven on many occasions. His 2014 Tiny Desk Concert stands out as a shining example of that. Ultimately, though, he is best known for his songs that make use of Auto-Tune to alter the sound of his vocals. His Auto-Tuned voice dominated the music landscape in the latter half of the 2000s, but not everybody was a fan. The way T-Pain tells it, that group includes Usher, who allegedly accused T-Pain of ruining music, a moment that sent T-Pain into a long depression.

In a clip from Netflix’s This Is Pop, T-Pain tells the story about the time he and Usher were on a plane, on their way to the 2013 BET Awards:

“We were actually going to the 2013 BET Awards, and we were all in first class and I went to sleep. I was awakened by the flight attendant. She said, ‘Usher would like to talk to you in the back.’ So I got up and went back and he was like, you know, ‘How’s everything going?’ Quick small talk, no big deal. And he was like, ‘Man, I want to tell you something, man.’ I was like, ‘What’s good?’ I thought he was about to tell me something real. He sounded real concerned. He was like, ‘Man, you kind of… you kind of f*cked up music.’

I didn’t understand. Usher was my friend. He was like, ‘Yeah man, you really f*cked up music for real singers.’ Literally, at that point, I couldn’t listen. ‘Is he right? Did I f*ck up music?’ And that is the very moment… I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me.”

Iggy Azalea Moves On From Playboi Carti On Celebrity Dating Show: Watch

Iggy Azalea hasn’t had the greatest luck in her love life. She’s had her chances with A$AP Rocky, Nick Young, French Montana, Deandre Hopkins, Playboi Carti, and others, but all of those relationships ended up down the drain. Most recently, she had a baby boy with Playboi Carti, but after she accused the rapper of cheating on her over the winter holidays on social media, they broke up and moved on.

The 31-year-old bombshell still has a lot of time to find the love of her life and as she raises her son Onyx by herself, she took to a new platform to try and find a suitable partner. Chances were slim that she would find a keeper but she gave it a shot anyway, participating on The Celebrity Dating Game this week for the show’s revival. Iggy was tasked with choosing one of three eligible bachelors to go on a date with, interviewing them, and considering their replies to influence her decision. At the end of the night, she ended up choosing Contestant #1, but they didn’t appear to have much chemistry.

Interestingly enough, the winner’s name was Shaughn Adamski, and he’s Lizzo’s stage manager. This episode was filmed a while ago so we don’t really know how their date went, or if it even happened. But Iggy and Shaughn haven’t been spotted with one another so we’re assuming that they weren’t a great match.

Watch the two videos below to see how her appearance went.

Soulja Boy Says He Took The First Selfie, Corrects Paris Hilton

Soulja Boy has very effectively been building up anticipation for his upcoming Verzuz battle against Bow Wow set to take place this coming weekend on Saturday, June 26th. While he’s been spending some time trading shots with Bow Wow on social media, his other antics have truly been a one-man show.

Earlier in the month, the Atlanta native took to Instagram live to tear apart Charlamagne tha God after he suggested Draco wasn’t really from the A. In addition to the viral rant where he declared, “I really shot n*ggas,” he’s become well-known for his claims as a trailblazer for many of pop culture’s most beloved aspects. In his most recent claim, the rapper corrected Paris Hilton about who really took the first selfie.

Paris Hilton took to Twitter on National Selfie Day Monday (June 21) to share a screenshotted throwback tweet of herself and pop star Britney Spears as they posed for a selfie 15 years ago in 2006. “11 years ago, Me & Britney invented the selfie!” read the screenshot.

Of course, Soulja begged to differ. “Man I been did that,” replied the rapper in the quote replies. It wasn’t long before fans hopped in the replies to provide backup for the “She Make It Clap Rapper.”

“Ya’ll must forgot,” tweeted one fan, attaching an iconic throwback selfie-style photo of the rapper with his “Soulja Boy” shades on rocking grills. Of course, there’s no solid evidence right now regarding which of the photos arrived first.

Knowing Soulja, though, the data could arrive very soon. What are your thoughts? Let us know down below.

Raekwon Does What He Does Best On “Bring Dat Doe”

Raekwon has officially come through with a new track, teaming up with PWright for “Bring Dat Doe” off the David Makes Man series soundtrack. At this stage in the game, fans know what Raekwon is capable of bringing to the table; he’s easily one of the most consistent lyricists in the game, and he continues to make it look easy with every drop.

Taking to a laid-back and vibey instrumental, Rae brings listeners deeper into his world with his signature brand of immersive lyricism. It goes without saying that his bars tend to benefit from closer examination, as few emcees bring their surroundings to life with such detail. “I’m back, intelligent wise, immaculate vibes,” he spits. “Come see me, it’s like a 3D vision of all my ties / the hustler’s book, illustrious look, I’m known to get fresh, play the kitchens in the town and cook.”

Check out the new collab between Raekwon and melodist PWright, who holds it down for the chorus, right here.
