A Kooky “Scooby-Doo” and “Courage the Cowardly Dog” Crossover Is On The Way

The entertainment industry’s undying love for crossovers has no limits. The insanely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe is essentially a massive network of crossovers, and just a couple of months ago, one of the most infamous movie franchises teased that they would be interested in dipping their toes into the world of crossovers in the future. Luckily, today’s news isn’t related to the ridiculous Fast & Furious and Jurassic World crossover, but an animated crossover that fans of classic cartoons will undoubtedly be able to get excited for.

While it’s surprising that they haven’t already teamed up before, Scooby-Doo and Courage the Cowardly Dog are teaming up for a kooky animated crossover film later this year.

If you’re scratching your head in confusion as to how Scooby-Doo and Courage have managed to cross paths, here’s the synopsis:

“Comedy is unleashed when Scooby-Doo, your favorite mystery-solving mutt, teams up for the first time with Courage the Cowardly Dog. The canine colleagues sniff out a strange object in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas, the backwoods hometown of Courage and his owners, Eustace and Muriel Bagge. Soon, the mysterious discovery puts them on the trail of a giant cicada monster and her wacky winged warriors. Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy know that this job is too big for a flyswatter. They’ll need the help of the doggy duo to piece together the puzzle. Can Scooby and Courage overcome their jitters and defeat the insect army before the whole world bugs out?”

According to Complex, director and producer Cecilia Aranovich has revealed that Scooby and Courage’s team-up will yield plenty of Easter Eggs and “trigger acute nostalgia,” as the best aspects of both of the classic character’s worlds are merged for a dynamic adventure.

The film is set to arrive on digital and DVD/Blu-Ray on September 14, so in the meantime, check out the trailer for Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog below.

Coi Leray Might Have A Future In Celebrity Boxing

Coi Leray is not the right one to mess with. She’s got hands and she’s not afraid to use them. The rising rapper has been having a tremendous year so far, being selected to the 2021 XXL Freshman list off the strength of her viral success with hits like “No More Parties” and “Big Purr.” As she continues to attract all sorts of attention from fans and haters alike, people have body-shamed the rapper for her skinny frame, but Coi may have something to say to all of her naysayers.

Uploading a video of herself training in the boxing gym, the 24-year-old budding superstar proved to the world that it might not be worth it to cyberbully her online because, in real life, she’s got dangerous hands.

“@floydmayweather add me to the team coach,” wrote Coi on Instagram, sharing a video of herself destroying a heavy bag with a quick barrage of jabs and combos. Many of the commenters are impressed with her technique, pointing out that she’s packing a stronger punch than a few of the celebrity boxers we’ve seen in the ring recently

Do you think she has what it takes to enter the ring against another prominent woman in rap? Who would you want to see her against? Perhaps she can finally settle the score with Rico Nasty?

Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Griselda & More To Honor DMX At BET Awards

Though he passed away at the age of 50 in April, DMX will be forever immortalized through his musical legacy. Having impacted no shortage of emcees, X remains beloved by his peers, many of whom came forward to contribute to his recent Exodus project.

Now, it has been confirmed that the late rapper will receive a tribute performance at the upcoming BET Awards, which are set to take place on Sunday, June 27th.

Lined up to take the stage are longtime DMX collaborator Swizz Beatz, as well as Busta Rhymes, who previously worked with DMX on Anarchy highlight “Why We Die.” Method Man is on board to pay homage to X, with whom he connected on “Grand Finale,” “4,3,2,1,” and Limp Bizkit’s “Urban Assault” remix to “Rollin.” The Griselda trio, who linked with X on Exodus cut “Hood Blues,” will also be holding it down for the Ruff Ryder legend.

Apparently, the artists will perform covers of some of DMX’s biggest hits, as well as several cuts from X’s latest album. Billboard confirms that “Party Up (Up in Here),” “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem,” “What’s My Name?” “Get at Me Dog,” and “DMX Prayer” are all slated to be included. In addition to the stacked list of contributing emcees, The Wire’s own Michael K. Williams will also appear in the memorial, which was put together by Swizz Beatz.

Be sure to check out the BET Awards this Sunday to catch the DMX tribute performance in full. Rest in peace to one of hip-hop’s greatest.

NLE Choppa Challenges His Fellow Rappers, Including Moneybagg Yo, To Give Up Lean For Chlorophyll

NLE Choppa has been on a health kick recently, promoting plant-based diets and meditation. While the dark side of his newfound interest has meant surprising fans with vaccine conspiracy theories and snake-oil sales pitches for dubious cancer “cures,” for the most part, Choppa’s encouraged his followers to embrace self-improvement. His latest effort is an “anti-lean” challenge which he issued on social media, appealing to his fellow rappers to give up the purple drank by substituting chlorophyll.

““I Have A New Challenge For Rappers,” he wrote. “For Every Pint of Lean, Or Even Alcohol, Drink A Pint Of Chlorophyll. I Wanna Start By Challenging @MoneyBaggYo I’ll Bring This To You Personally Fam.” He also added a link to an online shop where he’s pitching bottles of the stuff, as well as some kind of “detox tea” and baggies of seamoss. Notably, he tagged fellow Memphian Moneybagg Yo in his challenge, perhaps prompted by Moneybagg’s recent post calling his single “Wockesha” “the official lean national anthem.”

Choppa isn’t the only rapper to give up lean in recent years. In 2019, Future, one of the drink’s biggest proponents over the past decade of rap, admitted that he quit but didn’t say anything publicly because he feared losing his fans, while Smokepurpp, Mustard, and more were inspired to quit by a rash of overdoses including Lil Peep’s and Mac Miller’s.

NLE Choppa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Ace Hood’s Baby Mama Exposes Him For Allegedly Getting A $144K PPP Loan

The mother of Ace Hood’s children seemingly wants to get him in trouble with the law because she revealed during a recent live stream that the rapper allegedly received a $144,000 PPP loan from the government despite having no actual employees.

A few days ago, Ace Hood and the mother of his children, Shanice, called each other out on Father’s Day. Ace said that Shanice wouldn’t allow him to spend time with their kids because of money problems. Shanice rebutted by claiming that the rapper owes her over $95,000 in child support. She didn’t stop there though because she felt like exposing her ex to a new degree, alleging that Ace Hood received a $144,000 Paycheck Protection Program loan during the pandemic, despite having nobody employed on his team.

Claiming that Ace told the court that he only has $2,500 to his name, Shanice said, “We reported it so now he has to pay me what he owes me and he’s mad. I let you go two years without doing anything so what are you talking about? Make it make sense. And y’all can look up the PPP loan. Y’all know it’s public records. Ace Hood Touring. Go look it up, he got $144K. I’m trying to figure out how he got that much when he don’t got no employees.”

Ace Hood has not responded to Shanice’s claims. We will keep you posted when/if he does.

Travis Scott Releases 100 Signed CACTI Cans That Grant Access To Astroworld Festival

In honor of Travis Scott’s birthday in April, the Jackboys artist announced the long-awaited return of the Astroworld Festival. Travis Scott’s third annual music festival has expanded to a two-day format, and it will hit Houston on November 5 and 6. Unfortunately, countless Cactus Jack fans won’t be able to pull up to Astroworld Festival because when tickets went on sale on May 5, tickets to the two-day festival were sold out in minutes.

However, nearly two months later, there may be hope for some persistent Travis Scott fans after all. On Wednesday, it was announced that Travis Scott has decided to channel his inner Willy Wonka and release 100 signed cans of CACTI that unlock free tickets to Astroworld.

Similar to how thousands of candy-obsessed children did in the classic movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, disgruntled Travis Scott fans who were unable to secure their Astroworld Festival tickets last month will be able to hunt for specially wrapped and signed cans of strawberry-flavored CACTI that are hidden in the typical nine-count variety packs.

“Summer is back and all about going bigger,” Travis Scott says in a statement. “We really wanted to do something special with CACTI for the fans who weren’t able to get their hands on Astroworld tickets. The winners are going to get the opportunity to vibe out with us at the festival and get a full-on immersive experience. We can’t wait to share this with them and everything else CACTI has planned for the rest of the year.”

Fans who are able to track down one of the 100 signed CACTI cans will be rewarded with two tickets to the sold-out Astroworld Festival, so good luck to everyone on the hunt for those exclusive cans.

The Game Reps His G-Unit Roots On “72 Bar Assassin”

DJ Kay Slay is gearing up to deliver his upcoming album Accolades on Friday, and the Drama King has come through to share a new offering from the project. “72 Bar Assassin” features none other than The Game, who is no stranger to firing off extended salvos of lyricism, though this one runs significantly shorter than some of its predecessors.

That’s not to say Game doesn’t come out swinging, however. Taking to the cold and hard-hitting production with a vengeance, Game lives up to expectation in a few ways: for one, he’s rapping at an elite tier, and two, the namedrops arrive in spades. “King of New York, King of L.A, and I don’t give a fuck what Diddy say, my semi spray,” he raps. And later: “my n***as air out the club then we Damon Dash, in the same PT Cruiser that n***a Stunna had / puffin’ on a blunt of gas, just to talk about a Verzuz with 50 tell Swizzy I need a hundred cash.”

In an interesting turn, Game actually represents his G-Unit roots, praising Lloyd Banks’ recent album The Course Of The Inevitable and noting that “it’s still the Unit as long as I can still move em’.” There’s certainly lots to unpack on “72 Bar Assassin,” so be sure to dive into Game’s latest right here.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

My n***as air out the club then we Damon Dash,
In the same PT Cruiser that n***a Stunna had
Puffin’ on a blunt of gas
Just to talk about a Verzuz with 50 tell Swizzy I need a hundred cash
