Kevin George Drops “101 Freestyle”

Kevin George continues to blur the lines in his music. As an artist who takes inspiration from artists like Prince and Tame Impala, as well as R&B and hip-hop, it’s hard to put his music in a box but that’s what’s so refreshing about it in the first place. Projects like Hopeless Romantic helped introduce the world to his creativity and how his brain connects elements from different genres to breed his own unique sound that’s both gritty and poppy.

Today, the rapper emerged with his latest offering, “101 Freestyle.” The short track runs for a little under 2 minutes as the rapper pops his shit over frenetic and upbeat production.

Quotable Lyrics
She so pretty, come fuck with me
Love the way you move it
Really a dime, I just hit my prime
Yeah, wait, the bitch is mine
That bitch really mine

Dee Barnes Is “Triggered” After Dr. Dre’s Wife Denied Restraining Order

It’s an infamous moment in Hip Hop that is still discussed today. In the early 1990s, the Rap world was shaken by a reported assault against journalist Dee Barnes at the hands of Dr. Dre. During the time when N.W.A. was beefing with Ice Cube, Barnes interviewed both acts and was noted as saying that N.W.A. had “bad energy.” Her interview with Cube reportedly rubbed Dre the wrong way and later, he violently assaulted her at a party while his bodyguard reportedly held off patrons at gunpoint. Dre even spoke about this incident with Rolling Stone in 1991.

“People talk all this sh*t, but you know, somebody f*ck with me, I’m gonna f*ck with them,” he said at the time. “I just did it, you know. Ain’t nothing you can do now by talking about it. Besides, it ain’t no big thing—I just threw her through a door.” Barnes alleges that Dre punched her in the back of the head, kicked her in her ribs, and slammed her head against a brick wall.

Recently Dr. Dre’s estranged wife Nicole Young requested a restraining order during their divorce proceedings because she claims she endured domestic violence during their marriage. Nicole also alleges that Dr. Dre issued lyrical threats on a leaked track, but a judge didn’t believe she proved her case and denied her request. When the news circulated, Barnes took to Twitter to share that it all brought back memories.

“This news triggered me… I was also denied restraining order after being brutally assaulted and receiving threats from #DrDre,” wrote Barnes. “I’m logging off need a mental health break.” This all comes in the wake of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star Moniece Slaughter’s claims that she was threatened by Dr. Dre after she came forward to confirm that the megaproducer was carrying on a romance with Apryl Jones.

In July 2017, Dre offered an apology to Barnes for the assault. “I f*cked up, I paid for it, I’m sorry for it, and I apologize for it,” he said. “I have this dark cloud that follows me, and it’s going to be attached to me forever. It’s a major blemish on who I am as a man.”

Jacob Banks Offers His New Project “Parade”

Nigerian-born, UK-based singer Jacob Banks was relatively lowkey throughout 2020 with the exception of a few singles. The singer offered his collaboration with Grace Carter, “Blame” as well as “Like You’ll Never See Me…” but it’s been nearly three years since his last project and fans have been eager to hear a new body of work.

This weekend, he slid through with a short effort that he’s been working on throughout the COVID-19 pandemic titled, For My Friends. The eight-track EP was created with his long-time collaborator Sillkey remotely while Yakob, Sam De Jong, Spencer Stewart and Jonah Christian also assisted in putting the project together.

As we await the release of his follow-up to 2018’s Village, his latest project should give a sense of where his heads at these days. Press play below.

Travis Scott’s Cacti Launch Causes Chaos In LA Supermarket

Travis Scott is the master of branding at this point, and he’s apparently becoming corporate America’s #1 tool to boost sales. As much as companies like McDonald’s, Nike, and Fortnite have benefitted from bringing Scott on board for their ventures, he’s bringing his own products to shelves. Scott’s latest business move follows in the likes of artists like Jay-Z and Diddy who’ve launched their own liquor brands but the Astroworld rapper isn’t introducing high-end liquors. Instead, he’s bringing his spiked agave seltzer CACTI to the masses.

The rapper launched the product with visits to a few grocery stores in the Los Angeles area but his appearance at Pavillions in WeHo turned out to be a pandemic fiasco. The rapper went inside to check on his product and pick up a pack of gum, though he was followed by a mob of fans who were asking the rapper to sign their sneakers and other types of merch.

Travis Scott might have wanted to connect with fans on a personal level by visiting grocery stores but his move seemingly put himself and the store’s employees at risk. Fans clearly weren’t concerned with social distancing measures when it came to Travis Scott, and by proximity, the cashiers that were trying to get Travis through. On top of that, several of his fans seemingly appear to be anti-maskers while the rapper himself pulled his mask down on a few occasions to speak or yell, putting himself in a position to possibly catch or spread coronavirus.

Casanova Takes Aim At Fake Friends Who Haven’t Checked In Or Sent Money

He’s once again calling out people in his life who said they would be by his side but have somehow failed him. Casanova surrendered himself over to federal authorities back in early December, and since that time, both he and his wife Jasmere Corbett, also known as Swaggy Jazzy, have taken to the internet to air out their grievances. Weeks after his arrest, Jazzy posted about “fake friends” who haven’t been attentive, and yesterday (March 14), Casanova hopped on Twitter with a thought about those who have mysteriously gone missing since he’s been locked up.

“IF YOU AIN’T SEND ME NO MONEY OR CHECK IN ON ME AND YOU SUPPOSEDLY MY MANS, SUCK MY DICK‼️‼️‼️AND THAT GOES FOR ANYBODY!” Casavona tweeted. In January, the rapper received the unfortunate news that he was denied bond, but Casanova remains optimistic that he will be found not guilty. Prosecutors allege that Casanova is a member of the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation and have accused the rapper of drug trafficking along with various other charges.

This latest tweet follows Casanova’s previous venting episode at the end of February where he complained that people are saying “free me on the internet” but haven’t visited him in jail when he’s only an hour away. Check out his latest tweet below and let us know who you think he’s referring to.

Drake Reacts To Historical Billboard Hot 100 Debut

Breaking records isn’t anything new to Drake, especially when it comes to the Billboard Hot 100 but it doesn’t make the success any less sweet. Drizzy’s ability to crush record and streaming sales is arguably one of the main reasons why “falling off” isn’t in his itinerary. After breaking records and setting new ones, it seemed like there isn’t much more he could accomplish on the Billboard Hot 100 until this morning.

Drake’s hot streak continues after becoming the first artist ever to debut three songs atop the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper’s Scary Hours 2 EP brought together three bangers that propelled to the top of the chart with “What’s Next” leading the pack. It’s followed by the Lil Baby-assisted “Wants & Needs” and “Lemon Pepper Wings” with Rick Ross at #3. Drake’s now the first-ever artist to accomplish this feat while also joining an exclusive club consisting of The Beatles and Ariana Grande as the only three artists to hold the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

Drake took to IG where he celebrated the massive win on his page, sharing the Billboard post that reveals his positions. That image was followed by another of Steph Curry screaming with joy in his Golden State uniform. “SPLASHY,” the Toronto rapper captioned the post.

Kim Kardashian Talks “Challenging” Time During Pandemic: “This Year Was A Huge Cleanse”

This is a season of shedding portions of her past and looking forward to her future for Kim Kardashian. It’s been heavily publicized in the media that after six years of marriage, Kim and estranged husband Kanye West are working through a divorce. The uber-famous couple has made headlines together since revealing that they were dating in 2012, and after sharing four children and a jet-setting life together, it’s alleged that they’ve decided to part ways. Kim recently sat down with Vogue and opened up about navigating family life through this pandemic, calling it a “cleanse” for many people.

“I think that this year has been so challenging for so many people but I also think that this year was a huge cleanse and just a huge opportunity for people to really be grateful for the simple things and that is a huge awakening I think that so many people had and just who you want to spend your time with,” said the reality star. “The people that you allow into your home because everything is so scary and everyone’s afraid of everything. I mean, just even the amount of time that I know me and all my parent friends spent with our children has been so beautiful. We get this time. I try to look at things from a positive way.”

The interview primarily focused on the conclusion of Keeping Up With the Kardashiansafter 20 seasons on-air. The business mogul explained that her role on television can be seen as an extension of home movies. “I look back and I think, oh my God—there are so many embarrassing things on TV for the world to see, but I’m so grateful for the evolution, because I’ve learned so much,” said Kim.

“I’m happy we were able to be on [air] for so long, and for people to see that,” she continued. “And to have all of those memories and home videos for almost 15 years… That’s amazing. I grew up with so many home videos, because that’s all my dad did. So it’s kind of a continuum of that.”

Tiffany Haddish Took Aim At Nicki Minaj On Clubhouse And The Barbz Aren’t Having It

It’s safe to say that Nicki Minaj hasn’t had the easiest start to 2021. Just last month, her father was tragically killed in a hit-and-run car accident in Long Island, New York. Now comedian Tiffany Haddish, who just one a Grammy for her comedy album Black Mitzvah, has taken aim at her for being, as she sees it, disrespectful.

Haddish was a speaker on the Clubhouse app when a fan applauded her for “killing the game,” naming her the “Nicki Minaj of comedy.” Someone chimed in by saying, “But unlike Nicki, she shows up on time.” Haddish responded: “Unlike Nicki, I treat everybody with respect and dignity.”

After the clip leaked, the Barbz, Minaj’s fandom, rushed to the rapper’s defense. They questioned Haddish’s comment while mostly saying that they don’t find the comedian funny.

This isn’t the first time Minaj and Haddish have exchanged jabs, as the Barbz were quick to point out. At the 2018 VMAs ceremony, Haddish made an on stage joke about Fifth Harmony shortly after the girl group had disbanded to focus on solo careers. While accepting her award, Minaj responded to Haddish’s comment and stood up for Normani, a former Fifth Harmony member. “Tif, don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony because Normani is that b*tch,” she had said.
