Shohei Ohtani has been nothing short of incredible for the Los Angeles Angels this season. The man is a starting pitcher and he is also the best slugger in baseball right now. He leads the entire league with 33 home runs and when it comes to his ERA, he is posting a respectable 3.49 in his 13 starts on the mound. Needless to say, Ohtani is the type of superstar that baseball has been sorely lacking for a very long time. For years, it’s been said that the demographics for the sport have been shifting, however, with Ohtani’s current run in mind, the league is seeing its best ratings in years.

With the All-Star Game going down tomorrow, Ohtani is currently in the news because he is going to be a starting pitcher and the leading batter for the American League. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to escape the criticism of Stephen A. Smith, who went on First Take today and said that it was bad for Major League Baseball that Ohtani needed an interpreter to answer questions from the press. Ohtani is from Japan and since English isn’t his first language, he hasn’t been able to communicate as other players would.

This rant immediately caught people’s attention as they noted his comments were rooted in xenophobia and that Ohtani is simply too good of a player to receive such criticism. Fans even harkened back to a segment Smith did just a few days ago in which he claimed the MLB wasn’t doing a good enough job marketing Ohtani. The hypocrisy was on full display, and just moments ago, Smith took to Twitter with a clarification of what he meant.

As Smith explains, he simply meant that the language barrier is making it difficult for the league to promote him to a United States audience. Considering Ohtani’s games are eliciting the biggest ratings across Major League Baseball, it’s clear that Smith’s comments aren’t based around any concrete facts, and are simply feelings based.

Going on a $10,000 date with Johanna Leia may have been the best album promotion for Drake as he prepares to release Certified Lover Boy, but the internet has not been kind to the model. Leia was spotted on a date with Drake at Dodger Stadium this week, renting out the entire building to have a private dinner. They were photographed by an overhead helicopter, who captured shots of them looking up at the camera. Ever since, lots of people have been rudely commenting about Leia’s look, body-shaming her on social media.

Despite people like Coi Leray and Lizzo constantly speaking about the way fans speak about their bodies, it appears the public has not learned that body-shaming isn’t appropriate in the slightest after people made rude remarks about Johanna Leia over the weekend. Some of the most popular tweets mentioning her have to do with the fact that Drake often dates women who look similar, drawing comparisons between Leia, his baby mama Sophie Brussaux, and Bria Myles. 

While a bunch of Leia’s photos have gone viral with people adding insensitive captions, one particular picture of her standing in profile and showing off her backside in a tight dress is picking up the most attention. From the looks of it, Leia may have surgically enhanced her butt — or at least people are convinced that she has. That much has led to people making fun of Drake’s type of women, with males and females speaking ill on people who get plastic surgery.

Leading up to the trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, the latter of the two continuously made some out-of-bounds comments about how the fight would. Essentially, McGregor was saying that Poirier would be taken off on a stretcher and that the man wouldn’t be able to make it home to his family. While this was classic McGregor promotion, it was still something that made Poirier incredibly uncomfortable, and by fight night, Poirier was ready to make Conor pay.

As we all know by now, Poirier won the fight as McGregor’s ankle snapped at the end of the first round. During Poirier’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, McGregor continued to yell at Poirier, and at one point, he said Poirier’s wife was in his DMs. Now, however, it appears as though Conor may have said something much more sinister and disrespectful.

Thanks to a Twitter thread from Out Of Context MMA, a new clip from just outside of the Octagon shows McGregor making some threats towards Poirier and his family. “In your sleep you’re getting it, in your sleep you’re dead, you and your Mrs, it ain’t over,” McGregor can be heard saying. In fact, after the fight, Poirier told numerous reporters that McGregor was making a gun-to-the-head motion with his fingers and that he kept saying he would kill Dustin.

In the clip below, the crowd noise muffles what McGregor is saying, although you can tell that the quote above is in the ballpark of what was said. McGregor has been known to get disrespectful at times, however, there are some lines that just shouldn’t be crossed.

Jada Pinkett Smith has taken a page out of her daughter Willow’s book, shaving her head and showing off the results on Instagram.

Willow restarted her hair journey a year ago, documenting her growth on social media for her fans to follow along with. It appears as though the 20-year-old artist influenced her mother to do the same because, on Monday morning, Jada Pinkett Smith showed off her freshly shaved head for the first time.

“Willow made me do it because it was time to let go,” explained Jada in her caption. “BUT … my 50’s are bout to be Divinely lit with this shed.”

Jada is turning fifty later this year, getting ready for the milestone by letting go of her locks. Most commenters are congratulating the actress for taking such a risky step with her look while others say she could have done a better job of shaving her head, pointing out that there’s a patch of hair she missed at the top. 

In other recent Jada news, she recently spoke about the time she passed out on the set of The Nutty Professor from a bad batch of ecstasy. Another story involving her went viral when it was revealed that she allegedly told Tupac not to beat up Will Smith when they started dating. You can read more about that here. 

Doja Cat’s applaudable showmanship were on full display when she bounced back from an abrupt fall during a Miami performance on Saturday night.

The singer was performing her hit featuring Rico Nasty, “Tia Tamera,” when she slipped and fell on her back while rocking out to the track. Fans in the audience screamed out in shock, but Doja jumped right back up on her knees and continued slinging her hair, channeling Beyonce’s equally-unreal recovery after falling down a flight of stairs on stage during a 2007 show.

Social media applauded Doja for getting up and acting as if nothing had happened, one commenter sharing, “That’s how you do it. Act like nothing happened and keep it going.” Doja was as carefree as ever about the incident, tweeting out “somebody send me the video of me falling last night. Post in thread below thank u.”

The “Kiss Me More” singer’s bounce back shows she is not planning on letting anything get in the way of the success of her recent album, Planet Her. The project with features from Young Thug, The Weekend, and JID soared to the top of the charts, earning her the spot of the biggest first-day debut for a female rapper in Spotify history.

Doja even retweeted a fan’s post of a looped version of her fall suggesting she could make a beat out of it– and considering her retweet, it seems as though she may be up for the challenge. If anyone could pull off making a song using audio from their own slip, it would be Doja.

Snoop Dogg’s doppelgänger is on the loose again and this time, he’s taking pictures with the mother of a popular podcast host.

Co-host of the She Rates Dogs podcast, Mat George posted a picture this weekend of his mother meeting the one-and-only Snoop Dogg, but people were quick to point out that the man pictured with his mom isn’t the rapper at all. In fact, he appears to be a look-a-like named Eric Finch, who has been appearing at events as the legend for years.

“I’ve been in LA for a year and haven’t seen a single celebrity. My mom comes for a weekend and meets Snoop Dogg,” wrote George on Sunday. After the tweet started picking up hundreds of responses, he added, “Can everyone stop saying it’s not Snoop Dogg. My mom’s gonna be heartbroken the next time she logs onto Twitter.”

People have some pretty hilarious replies to the honest mistake, which you can scroll through below. We don’t blame Mat’s mom for thinking this was Snoop — they definitely look pretty similar.
