Smino Calls “Cap” On Kim Kardashian Having The Best Grill

Kim Kardashian is being celebrated for her new grill, which features opal birthstones. The piece is gorgeous, but one particular rapper wants the world to know that Kim isn’t necessarily setting any trends, pointing out that he had an opal grill before her.

With so many people showing love for Kim Kardashian’s new mouthpiece, Smino respectfully disagreed that she’s got the best grill in the game, commenting on her new pick-up on Twitter. “Cap,” he wrote, decorating his message with hearts and responding to someone who claimed the criminal justice reform activist “destroyed” the grill game.

In her defense, Kim never actually said that she started this trend. All she did was post her new grill. However, people are bashing the socialite now that Smino has jumped in. His fellow St. Louis native, the legendary Nelly, backed him up in the comments after The Shade Room shared his reply. “Stl Yessserr my nephew @smino already been did that… hard for stl to get our credit tho,” he said. “We did opal grills around 7 years ago,” added Ben Baller in a separate comment. “Again for @thundercatmusic 2 years ago.”

People have also pointed out that Erykah Badu has an opal grill.

Who has the best opal grill? Is it Kim Kardashian, Smino, Thundercat, Erykah Badu, or somebody else?

Gupadad 4000 & !llmind Team Up For Collab Project “1176”

Over the past month, Guapdad 4000 and !llmind have been getting their fans ready for their collaborative project, starting with the release of “How Many” in February. Earlier last week, the newfound duo aimed to build even more anticipation for the album by dropping off the P-Lo-assisted single “She Wanna.” With such disparate singles, fans were interested in seeing what a full-length effort from the two artists would look like, and now, they finally can because 1176 has finally released.

The 14-track collaborative record arrives today, and as previously reported, 1176 does feature a more serious and, at times, introspective Guapdad 4000. In addition to the previously heard tracks “How Many” and “She Wanna,” Guapdad and !llmind give listeners 12 new tracks, most of which don’t feature any guest appearances. For an eight-song stretch at the core of the album, listeners are treated to the collaborative magic of Gupadad 4000 and !llmind, and towards the end of 1176, impressive collaborations with Tish Hyman and Buddy pop up as well.

How are you feeling about Gupadad 4000 and !llmind’s full-length collaboration? Is this a duo that you would like to hear more from in the future?

Young Dolph Goes Hard On “Yeeh Yeeh”

There’s something about Young Dolph’s cadence that simply lends itself well to a hard-hitting instrumental. The Paper Route Empire’s sneering baritone carries a certain authority, one that commands attention even in short doses. And though his new single “Yeeh Yeeh” clocks in at a little over two minutes in length, Dolph makes the most of the blink-and-you-missed-it runtime.

Fueled by a dark and ominous instrumental by BeatPlay, Dolph proceeds to move at his own methodical pace, exuding the presence of Omar sauntering down the block in The Wire. That’s not to say his mindstate is always perpetually clear. Case in point, his opening bars. “Don’t know how I made it home last night, everything a blur, Hallucinating, can’t remember shit, drunk too much syrup,” he spits. “Doin’ one-thirty down Bellevue, fucked ’round and scraped the curb / My finger on the trigger, why? cause I got bad nerves.”

Confirmed to be a solo cut from Dolph and Key Glock’s upcoming album Dum & Dummer 2, from which a new single “Sleep With The Roaches” recently dropped, “Yeeh Yeeh” is another sign that the project is shaping up nicely. Look for that to land on March 26th, via Paper Route Empire.

Dr. Dre’s Ex-Wife Claims He “Knocked [Her] Out Cold” While Drunk

Dr. Dre has faced numerous abuse allegations over the years, and yet another one is coming this week via his ex-wife Nicole Young, who claims that the rapper/producer “knocked [her] out cold” with a punch square to the face during a drunken rage.

The entire situation between Dr. Dre and his ex-wife Nicole Young is heartbreaking. The two were seemingly happily married for over 24 years, filing for divorce in the last few months and refusing to be amicable about their split. Their dirty laundry has been aired out for all to read about, including abuse allegations, talks about money, and more. As reported by The Blast, new court documents from Nicole Young allege that, during a drunken rage, Dr. Dre punched his wife in the face and knocked her out.

Outlining a number of “incidents of domestic violence he perpetrated against [her]“, Nicole Young detailed an alleged incident that took place in 1999.

“Andre felt l ‘disrespected’ him while he was at a party. He pulled me away and punched me squarely in the face, knocking me out cold,” she claims in legal documents. “I woke up in the passenger seat of our car, without a seatbelt and with Andre speeding at over 100 miles per hour on the 118 freeway. Andre was drunk and out of control. He was swerving and weaving, screaming at me. l was terrified that Andre would crash into the center divider.

He threw my planner which contained photographs of our young children out the car window. l begged him to stop or slow down the entire time we were in the car. l thought l was going to die in the car that night.”

Nicole Young also detailed incidents that allegedly happened in 1995 and 2012, which also included violence on the part of Dr. Dre.

Dr. Dre has denied abusing his ex-wife, saying, “I have never hit, attacked, stalked‚ molested, assaulted, threatened or abused Nicole in any fashion‚ at any time. Nor have I ever surveilled or followed her or had anyone to do so. At no time were the police ever called during our marriage. There were never any domestic violence claims made by Nicole during our marriage, formal or informal. There is no documentary evidence of any alleged abuse.”

Recently, Dr. Dre made a plea for the judge to declare him legally single so he can move on from this messy divorce.

Megan Thee Stallion Drops Off Thirst Trap To The Tune Of “What’s New”

Megan Thee Stallion is now a Grammy-winning artist, and it doesn’t look like anything can get her down as of late. In addition to taking home four new trophies on Sunday night’s ceremony, Meg is also enjoying her new relationship with Pardison Fontaine, so over the past few days, she’s been treating her Instagram followers with celebratory posts and her fair share of thirst traps. Now, just one day after dropping a steamy set of picturesMegan Thee Stallion is back with a twerk-filled thirst trap video.

In addition the visual aspect of Megan Thee Stallion’s new Instagram post, you can also hear the lyrics, “I’m the baddest bitch, who wanna fight about it?/Put ’em in the booth, I bet I’ll take the title.” Fans of Megan’s debut studio album Good News likely recognized it as the album cut “What’s New,” a track that finds the Houston rapper in a carefree state while shrugging off her haters.

Judging from the flickers between shots of Thee Stallion outside and on what  appears to be a production set, the Hot Girl may actually be teasing an upcoming music video for “What’s New.”

What do you think  is Megan Thee Stallion’s latest IG tease just a thirst trap or is it probably a calculated way to promote her music?

Kota The Friend & Statik Selektah Unite For “To Kill A Sunrise”

Kota The Friend has been steadily putting out quality material, having recently dropped off the second volume of Lyrics To Go, and today he’s kept the pattern alive with the Statik Selektah-assisted To Kill A Sunrise. Evocative in one fell swoop of Harper Lee, Kendrick Lamar, picturesque scenic views, Mexican cocktails, and Cypress Hill, the new project appears to another solid effort from the perpetually chill lyricist.

Boasting production across the board from the stalwart Statik Selektah, itself a stamp of quality, To Kill A Sunrise fits Kota’s modus operandi in terms of vibe. Yet there are flourishes of braggadocio, particularly on the triumphant boom-bap opener “Wolves,” a highlight that showcases Kota’s technical prowess. That golden-era spirit is certainly a throughline — Statik’s fingerprints, no doubt — with songs like “The Cold” and “Sunrise” capturing the essence with nostalgic clarity.

As expected, there’s a smooth and easy-going vibe across the thirty-three-minute album, but that’s not to say it’s a low-effort release. Kota’s lyricism demands attention, and listeners will find much to appreciate should they load this one up and give it a solid front-to-back listen. Though not often recognized as one of the game’s top-tier lyricists, it’s likely a matter of coverage, as The Friend’s pen-game has been as consistent as it gets.

Check out To Kill A Sunrise right now, and sound off if you think Kota and Statik’s new collaborative project deserves some attention.

Cardi B Defends Her ‘WAP’ Grammys Performance: ‘The Grammys Are PG, That Means Parental Guidance’

For one reason or another, it seems Cardi B is always facing some sort of criticism for one thing or another. The latest topic of Cardi criticism is her and Megan Thee Stallion’s recent Grammys performance of “WAP.” The song has earned plenty of critics due to its explicit nature and some people were floored that the track made it onto national television. Cardi is taking the criticism in stride, though.

Yesterday, she shared a video of a person sharing a tearful reaction to the song and added, “Really ? Over Wap?” Megan took to the comments to write, “She keep wiping her eyes and it ain’t even no damn tears [crying laughing emoji].”

She also responded from a tweet from cinematographer and Republican California gubernatorial candidate Errol Webber, who shared the video from earlier this year of Cardi turning off “WAP” when she noticed her daughter Kulture enter the room. He noted, “Cardi B cuts off WAP when her daughter, Kulture, walks into the room. She looks embarrassed. This is how you know Cardi B knows right from wrong, yet STILL deliberately chooses to do wrong by girating and scissoring her WAP on national TV… in view of other people’s kids.”

Cardi fired back, “The Grammies are PG .That means parental guidance.Meaning is your job like it is to mine to my child to monitor what they watch. My performance was around 10 pm on a Sunday Your child should be in bed ready for school the next day why are they up watching Wap?”

She also retweeted another response to Webber that read, “see how easy it is to turn off inappropriate music in front of ur kids instead of complaining and keeping it on.”

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion a Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Quotable Lyrics:

You know the rules, shoot first, then we get discussin’
Ever saw a headshot? That sh*t ain’t nothin’
Ever ate jail food? That sh*t disgusting
They talk that killer sh*t, them n***as bluffin’
I take ’em back to nights, catchin’ n***as at the traffic light
Hangin’ out the window, ’bout to shoot and the gun jam, right
I swear a n***a heart dropped like the gas price
