HER Announces The Title Of Her Upcoming Debut Album, ‘Back Of My Mind’

Grammy-winning singer HER is hard at work on a new project and today, she revealed what it’s going to be called. Back Of My Mind. Incidentally, it’s also her debut album, as her prior efforts, the self-titled H.E.R. and its 2019 follow-up I Used To Know Her, were compilations of previously released material (a quartet of EPs bearing the same titles).

However, despite not having an official “album” to her name, the Bay Area singer has become one of music’s most accomplished artists over the past several years, with singles like “Focus,” “Damage,” and “I Can’t Breathe” charting on the Billboard Hot 100 and appearances alongside stars like Daniel Caesar, Jazmine Sullivan, and YG raising her profile to near-superstar status.

That status was sealed as she secured high-profile placements on the Judas And The Black Messiah soundtrack and sang the national anthem at the 2021 Super Bowl. Meanwhile, “I Can’t Breathe” won Song of The Year at this year’s Grammys, while “Fight For You” was nominated for a Golden Globe. She even jokingly tried out for Silk Sonic, Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars’ new band, a placement that could help her net yet another platinum plaque in the near future.

There’s no release date yet for Back Of My Mind, but the notebook photo she posted on Twitter suggests she’s got at least of a couple of its unknown number of songs in the can already, while her new single “Come Through” is out now. You can listen to that below.

The Alchemist And Earl Sweatshirt Reunite On ‘Nobles’ With Navy Blue

Earl Sweatshirt has seemingly been laying low since the 2019 release of his Feet Of Clay EP — save for a few guest spots throughout 2020 and an appearance on Armand Hammer’s Alchemist-produced 2021 album Haram — but the wandering wordsmith has returned to once again collaborate with The Alchemist on the latter’s upcoming EP, This Thing of Ours, due next Friday, April 30. The track, called “Nobles,” features a trademark, soulful Alchemist beat and an appearance by rapper/skater Navy Blue.

Earl previously collaborated with The Alchemist on “The Whole World” from the deluxe version of Feet Of Clay featuring Maxo, as well as on Alc’s 2018 single “E Coli.” The Los Angeles duo has consistently displayed impressive chemistry, prompting some fans to call for them to work on a full project, a la Alchemist’s 2020 work with Griselda’s Conway and Freddie Gibbs.

The results of those two projects were prolific; The Alchemist was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Album for Alfredo, bringing the veteran producer and rapper both a new level of attention and expanded public acclaim. The Alchemist’s next EP, which also features Boldy James (with whom he also released a joint project in 2020), Maxo, Pink Siifu, and Sideshow, will certainly build on that newfound success.

Listen to The Alchemist’s “Navy Blue” featuring Earl Sweatshirt and Navy Blue below.

Earl Sweatshirt is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Gunna Says Drake’s “Solid” Was Meant For “Certified Lover Boy”

With no concrete news on Drake’s upcoming Certified Lover Boy, fans have been left desperately speculating as to what the project might sound like. After all, Drizzy has proven himself to be nothing short of a chameleon, adaptive to a wide variety of styles. In fact, based on everything we’ve heard presumably associated with the upcoming project, from “Laugh Now Cry Later” to “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” it’s difficult to assess which style of Drake we’ll be getting.

During a recent conversation with Billboard, Slime Language 2 rapper Gunna actually shared an interesting tidbit pertaining to Certified Lover Boy, revealing that the Drake-assisted “Solid” was originally meant to appear on the delayed project.

“Drake had originally sent me the song for his album and I did it and we was vibing with it for a minute,” Gunna explained. “But then his album didn’t come out and I was still vibing with it, and I’m like ‘Shit bro, I wanna put it on Slime Language 2. Let’s put slime on it.’ And he was like extra with it and we did, and that’s how that came together.”

It’s certainly curious to note that “Solid” was, at least for a time, meant to be included on Certified Lover Boy. Especially given how stylistically different it is compared to what we’ve seen from The Boy thus far. In case you have yet to hear “Solid,” you can do so below; in light of Gunna’s new reveal, it’s hard not to picture what it might have sounded in the context of a full-length Drake album.

On that note, would you be satisfied if Drake’s next big release featured more songs like “Solid?”

Ashanti Elicits Speculation After Posting Mystery Man On IG

Ashanti is one of the most beloved artists of the early 2000s. Throughout her career, she was able to provide fans with a ton of hits and to this day, she is highly-regarded as one of the best artists of her era. At her age, Ashanti is still as beautiful as ever and fans are always trying to point this out. With every IG post, she looks as radiant as ever and despite COVID-19, she has no problem showing off all the vacations she goes on.

As of right now, Ashanti has been partying it up in Mexico and in one of her most recent posts, she posed alongside of another man which immediately led to a whole bunch of rumors. In the comments section, fans began to congratulate her while others tried to figure out who the mystery man was.

On Twitter, things were a bit more hostile as there are some who don’t approve of the idea of Ashanti dating a white man. Meanwhile, others were quick to point out that the man in the image was simply the manager of the place Ashanti was partying at. On the other end of the spectrum, there were fans who couldn’t help but claim their happiness for Ashanti, especially since it is rare that she posts the man she’s potentially dating.

Since the speculation hit Twitter, Ashanti has since cleared the air with The Shade Room, stating that the man was, in fact, the manager at the restaurant and that they are not dating. Needless to say, all of the Twitter reactions were pretty well for nothing.

They drive us insane to sell us medication
We demand reparations and they tell us have patience
Instead of cash payments we get minimum wages
They give us the black plague then send us a white savior

Stove God Cooks Links With French Montana For “Dope”

Stove God Cooks has returned with “Dope,” a new collaboration with the Coke Boy himself, French Montana. Taking to a melodic instrumental fueled by an intricately fingerpicked guitar, Stove God sets it off with a reflection on the high-risk high-reward environment of the drug game. “Plastic on the kilo pill, I start getting chills,” he begins. “When you built your shit from nothing, that’s a different feel / when they sentence you in months boy that’s a different deal / I’m counting down my n***a sentence on a Richard Mille.”

Montana holds it down with the second verse, keeping true to his roots with a welcome return to his early-career subject matter. “Dope got me to the boat,” he spits. “Ballin’ like Steve Francis, truck bulletproof like Francis the Pope / dope money lost a lot of dawgs in the field / pouring liquor for my homies gon’ need a liquor deal.”

Check out “Dope” now, and keep an eye out for more new music from Stove God Cooks and French Montana.

Young Dolph Connects With Rick Ross On DJ-Q’s Ambitious ‘Plenty Cake’

Paper Route Empire and Maybach Music connect on “Plenty Cake,” the money-hungry new single from the former’s DJ-Q, which features opulent verses from Young Dolph and Rick Ross. The truck-ready beat is classic Memphis, but that doesn’t stop Floridian Rick Ross from demolishing a verse in which he lists his luxury cars and name-checks his favorite foods (lemon pepper chicken wings and peach cobbler!). Dolph comes in after to remind listeners that Memphians are built different and that he gets “plenty cake” himself, choosing to spend his spoils on chains, scallops, and lobster.

The track popped up with little fanfare on Dolph’s streaming pages this morning, trusting longtime listeners to fall in line in relatively short order. The strategy has served Dolph relatively well in the past; the Memphis mogul reserves promotion for music video budgets and other indie label overhead, choosing to let the work find the people and generate dollars organically. It seems to have worked out because he recently announced his retirement from rap to let the other members of his label, like Key Glock and DJ-Q, shine on their own.

Meanwhile, guest rapper Rick Ross is reportedly working on a joint album with Drake, looking to expand his own empire — from which he doesn’t seem to have any plans of retiring anytime soon.

Megan Fox Stuns While Celebrating Machine Gun Kelly’s Birthday

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have been dating for a while now and it seems as though they are incredibly in love. In fact, it was recently reported that the two have intentions of marrying each other someday, which is a testament to just how much they love each other right now. Both individuals have been through quite a bit in their personal lives and for now, they seem to be a great match.

Just yesterday, MGK got to celebrate his 31st birthday party and as you can imagine, Fox was right by his side, looking gorgeous as ever in a blacktop and what appeared to be some glossy leather pants. MGK even posted a pic of the two with the caption “i’ll grow up next summer…SINcerely, birthday boy.”

Fox made sure to come through with her very own IG post as she posted the two looking into the mirror together. The caption read “Happy Birthday blonde angel baby,” and it’s clear that the two are happy as hell together.

Spending your 31st birthday with someone like Megan Fox certainly makes you a lucky man and we’re sure MGK was feeling that way all day yesterday. Hopefully, he is able to get everything he is looking for throughout his 31st year on earth.
