Curren$y Is Back With Another New Album “Matching Rolexes”

Curren$y is back with a new album, mere weeks after being back with…a new album. Such is simply his way. The man is incapable of slowing down, and given that he has continuously delivered quality material with more consistency than the majority of his rap game peers.

At the end of August, Spitta linked up with Trauma Tone to deliver Highest In Charge — which you can check out right here — and now he’s linked with Kino Beats for Matching Rolexes. Throughout the project’s eleven-track runtime, which features guest appearances from Blu, Valee, and Dej Loaf, Spitta brings his charismatic presence to a wide array of instrumentals from Kino.

While it’s difficult to pinpoint the core of Curren$y’s magnetism, there’s something to be said about his ability to blend everyman charm with a luxury lifestyle; it’s uniquely refreshing in a scene where rappers tend to favor the latter. True, he may still be the “Yacht Master,” with more vintage automobiles than James Bond, but this is also the man who’d rather be rocking “a white tee and some jewelry” (“Heart In This Shit”) than the latest in haute couture.

Though this probably goes without saying, Matching Rolexes is hardly the last we’ll see from Curren$y in 2021. He recently outlined a six-album release schedule, with four remaining projects. Stoned Ocean will follow on October 8th, while the Harry Fraud-produced Regatta on October 29th. Land Air Sea is next, produced in entirety by Cash Fargo. In December, the anticipated Alchemist-produced Half Moon Bay lands on the 10th, while a fan-favorite series continues with Pilot Talk 4 on the 24th, also produced by trusted collaborator Ski Beats.

Check out Matching Rolexes now, and sound off if you’re enjoying Spitta’s triumphant run this year.

Young Guru Shares Touching Nipsey Hussle Fan Encounter

Since Los Angeles rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle’s untimely passing in March 2019, there have been countless tributes in honor of the late legend. Coming in the forms of lyrics nodding to Nipsey’s greatness, murals painted on LA walls and tattoos on a handful of rappers and athletes, the tributes have been endless, and for good reason. Hussle’s impact was felt in the rap game, in business spaces and also in the hearts and minds of seemingly everyone he crossed paths with.

That includes random, non-hip-hop fans, too.

Yesterday, engineer Young Guru took to Instagram to share a chance encounter he had with a man repping Nipsey’s brand, Crenshaw.

“So I’m on my flight today and this man sits next to me. We didn’t say a word to each other the whole flight. We are about to land and as usual I take out my camera to shoot out of the window. He says ‘Is that a Leica?'” referencing the brand of Young Guru’s camera. ‘I say of course. I then ask him “do you know what hat that is you have on?’ And he says ‘of course, Nipsey gave it to me!!'”

Continuing on with more details of the interaction, Guru painted a perfect picture of Nipsey’s personality, as well as the personality of this newfound connection.

“I’m like ‘what? how’? He says ‘I’m from New Jersey but my son loves Nipsey. He asked me a couple years ago to stop by the Marathon Clothing Store and get him merch.’ He said he went in got the clothes and on his way out Nipsey stopped him and spoke. After the convo Nipsey gave him a hat,” Guru wrote. “I then asked him ‘do you listen to HipHop” and he said ‘no I just loved the way the young man carried himself, so I put it on every time I come to LA’!!!”

Interactions like these come few and far between but just based on this one encounter between Young Guru and a random person who said they don’t even listen to hip-hop, Nip’s reach was on full display.

Finishing the post with Nip’s most important message, “The Marathon Continues!!!,” Guru showed us all with one IG post what kind of impact a person and performer like Hussle had and why that loss hurt the entire rap community so much more.

What do you think about this chance Young Guru interaction? Let us know in the comments.

50 Cent Details How Hard It Was To Get Snoop Dogg To Stop Smoking On “BMF” Set

With ballgate in full effect, the world continues to be afflicted over Nicki Minaj’s claims that her cousin’s friend in Trinidad & Tobago experienced swollen testicles after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Many government officials and health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci and Trinidad’s health minister Terrence Deyalsingh, have rejected Minaj’s claims, asserting that no such side effects have ever been reported for the vaccine, but it remains a major topic on social media.

Now, Nicki’s cousin’s friend’s balls are being discussed on late-night television, with celebrities that aren’t connected at all to the story. On Thursday night, 50 Cent appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, and he spoke about all of the television projects he’s presently involved in. Most notably, he spoke about BMF, which apparently has a cameo from Nicki’s cousin’s friend’s balls.

“I heard that you got—and I know this is supposed to be a surprise—but I heard you got Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend’s testicles to be on this show. Is that true?” asked Kimmel.

“Listen, you didn’t look at the details of that situation,” laughed Fif. “The details said he was about to get married. I think the testicles, it could be from the bachelor party. Nobody said that. Why nobody thought about the bachelor party? Now, if you had a really good bachelor party and then stuff starts swelling, it was Pfizer!”

Aside from Nicki’s cousin’s friend’s balls, 50 Cent also spoke about Eminem having a “terrible” experience on 8 Mile, which seemingly prompted him to move away from the big screen for years.

“I think [Eminem] had a terrible experience on the 8 Mile project,” said Fif. “‘Cause he just didn’t wanna go back again, like, ever again. There were times when Hollywood would offer me things to get him. His agent would go, ‘Yeah, this is good, give it to 50 and let him take it.’ The projects they’d offer him would be for $8 million, and he’ll look at it and go, ‘Did you look at it, Em?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I read it. I just think we should do Warriors. Like the old movie Warriors, we should do something like Warriors.’ I’m like, ‘Did you just miss the $8 million?’ It doesn’t move him at all. He’s just like, ‘Let’s just go and record records, let’s just go make records.'”

G-Eazy & Demi Lovato Address Their Controversies On “Breakdown”

We’re set to receive G-Eazy’s fourth studio album These Things Happen Too next week, and he’s rolling out the record with the help of Demi Lovato. Last month, Lovato teased that there were big things coming with the Bay Area rapper, and on Friday (September 17), the pair surfaced with their collaborative single, “Breakdown.”

Throughout their careers, both artists have made headlines over their controversies, and they address many of them on the track. Lovato discusses her drug addiction and overdoses, while G-Eazy mentions his run-ins with the law. This comes days after the news was shared that he was arrested in New York City following a brawl at a nightclub.

The pair also dropped off a music video, so stream “Breakdown” and let us know your thoughts

Quotable Lyrics

All alone in a dark space, ain’t no light in there
What’s f*cked up is I might actually like it there
Pouring everything on this paper my pen is on
Feel like I’m breaking in places they put the pressure on
I’m the one in my circle they all depending on

Sam Smith And Summer Walker Provide Hope For The World’s Lost Souls On ‘You Will Be Found’

Summer Walker has lent her talents to a number of artists in the past. Her collaborations include work with Khalid, 21 Savage, Young Rog, Lil Tjay, and others. For her latest track, she and Sam Smith combine their talents for their new single, “You Will Be Found.” The track is one of the many contributions to the soundtrack for the upcoming film, Dear Evan Hansen. The movie follows a high school senior who suffers from social anxiety through a journey of self-discovery and acceptance following the tragic suicide of a classmate.

The duo’s “You Will Be Found” is an uplifting track that aims to provide hope to the lost souls of the world. Their collaboration comes last than a year after Smith released their third album, Love Goes. The 16-track project arrives with 18 songs and features from Labrinth, Normani, Demi Lovato, Calvin Harris, and Burna Boy. As for Summer Walker, the LVRN singer is placing the finishing touches on her upcoming sophomore album, one that will hopefully match the huge success that she had with her 2019 debut Over It. While a title or release date have yet to be revealed for the album, the singer confirmed that Lil Durk, Ari Lennox, and SZA are some of the features fans will hear on the upcoming project.

Majid Jordan Praises A New Lover That Provides Relief Like The ‘Summer Rain’ On Their Latest Song

It’s amazing that Majid Jordan decided to stick around with their fans for once this year. Next month will mark four years since the duo delivered with their debut album, The Space Between to the world. The project was a quality output and those who enjoyed looked forward to more. Unfortunately, for the better part of the years since that album, supporters of Majid Jordan were left high and dry to wait for the duo’s next release which, thankfully, arrived earlier this year. Their outputs continue with their latest release, “Summer Rain.” On the track, they commend their new lover for calming their stress just like the summer rain does in a heatwave.

Majid Jordan’s 2021 return began this past spring with the release of “Waves Of Blue.” The confident single was the perfect way to begin their comeback as the duo used pop-leaning production for an upbeat free-floating track that found them pouring their heart to an unnamed love interest. They followed up that song with “Been Through That,” a dancefloor-friendly track that touched on the different levels of love. Majid Jordan spoke about both songs in a tweet prior to the release of “Been Through That.”

“’Waves of Blue’ was made at the very beginning of this album, and it only makes sense that we begin our next chapter with this song,” they wrote. “This song is like staring at the sea – you’re not in the water, but you’re getting carried away by its currents.”

Lil Nas X Tells A Story Of Love, Sex, & Heartbreak In “That’s What I Want” Visual

If critics were upset with “Industry Baby,” they are going to have a field day with this. On Friday (September 17), Lil Nas X dropped off his anticipated debut studio album MONTERO. The controversial star has ruffled a few feathers during the rollout of this record, much of which came because he proudly touted his sexuality. Detractors stormed social media to speak about Nas X being a negative influence on children, but the Popstar made it clear during his recent visit to The Breakfast Club that he is not responsible for anyone’s children.

In addition to releasing his album, Lil Nas X also delivered the music video to his single “That’s What I Want.” The visual opens with Nas X as a football star who has a romance with a fellow player, but life takes a turn when the man he loves decides to get married and have a child with a woman. The track is all about having a deep desire to fall in love and ends with Lil Nas X crying at the altar in a wedding dress.

His fans are praising him for representing gay relationships in mainstream media, but those sex scenes will certainly get his critics talking. Stream “That’s What I Want” and let us know your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics

That afro Black boy with the gold teeth
He dark skin, lookin’ at me like he know me
I wonder if he got the G or the B
Let me find out and see, he comin’ over to me, yeah

Doja Cat Wows Listeners With Her Snappy Verse On Lil Nas X’s Pilates Anthem, ‘Scoop’

At long last, Lil Nas X’s debut album Montero has finally arrived and it’s quickly earned itself a favorite among his vast fan base. Many of the album’s listeners have already sprinted to “Scoop,” his collaboration with Doja Cat thanks to the “Say So” rapper’s fiery contribution to the duos’ pilates anthem. The song was already a highly anticipated cut from Montero as Lil Nas had previously teased it in an energetic video snippet that showed him turning up and rapping along to the track.

Montero as a whole comes complete with 15 songs and features from Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, Elton John, and Miley Cyrus in addition to Doja Cat. Lil Nas put up one of the more unique promotional runs for the album as he endured a fake pregnancy to lead up to the “birth” of his album. The singer went through all the motions like having a maternity photoshoot, opening a baby registry, and dealing with the contractions in the days leading up to the release of Montero.

Elsewhere, the singer made the Time list of 100 most influential people and performed “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow at the 2021 MTV VMAs. The rapper also celebrated the album’s release with a hilarious video that captured him birthing Montero in the hospital.

Lil Nas X Falls For A Football Teammate Living A Secret Life In His ‘That’s What I Want’ Video

Lil Nas X has been quite busy in the weeks leading up to his highly-anticipated debut album, Montero. The singer is in the midst of a fake pregnancy complete with a baby registry and contractions. He also performed “Industry Baby” at the 2021 MTV VMAs with Jack Harlow and teamed up with Elton John to trade iconic looks for an Uber Eats campaign. It’s all a part of Lil Nas’ mantra to have fun through it all in the music world and it continues with the release of his debut album Montero and a new video for “That’s What I Want.”

In the new visual, Lil Nas falls for a teammate on his football team and, while their relationship quickly advances, Lil Nas finds out that his new companion is actually living a secret life, a discovery that practically breaks his heart. “That’s What I Want” is the latest track from Montero to receive the visual treatment. It joins a collection that features a highly controversial hell-themed video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” a solemn effort for “Sun Goes Down,” and a breakout from prison with Jack Harlow for “Industry Baby.”

The singer’s new album and video come after he was added to the 2021 Time list of the 100 most influential people. Lil Nas joined the likes of Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, Kane Brown, Britney Spears, Angélique Kidjo, Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland as other inclusions from the music world.

HER Invites Lil Durk On Board For A Remix Of ‘Find A Way’ With Lil Baby

Earlier this year, HER released her debut album Back Of My Mind. The 21-track effort came after nearly five years of projects that included HER and I Used To Know Her. Even in the years prior to her debut, the singer was able to tally a collection of Grammy awards, but 2021 became the year to celebrate her official coming-out party. After fans were able to enjoy the project for the better part of the last three months, HER updates one of its standout tracks with an additional guest appearance from Lil Durk.

HER’s “Find A Way” with Lil Baby receives a nice remix treatment thanks to a new verse from Lil Durk. The track is one of the more uptempo and hard-hitting songs on the album, so the addition of Durk makes sense for the record. Furthermore, the two rappers recently joined forces for their joint album, Voice Of The Heroes.

The remix comes after HER responded to critics who have labeled her as an “industry plant.” “With social media, people think they know everything about success,” she said during an interview with Vulture. “People see my success now, and they don’t understand the sacrifices, the 15-hour days in the studio, the pressure from my parents to go to college.”

She added, “Most of the time, people think success is followers and crazy BTS popularity, like if you’re not Beyonce, you’re not famous. ‘Oh, you’ll get there one day.’ Like, everybody doesn’t want to be Beyonce! For me, I grinded it out kinda like a rapper: I dropped a mixtape, nobody knew who I was, it was a very slow build, and here we are now.”

You can press play on the remix in the video above.

Back Of My Mind is out now via MBK Entertainment/RCA. Get it here.
