Travis Scott And Drake Are Being Sued Over The Astroworld Festival Deaths

What was supposed to be a joyous event turned into a tragedy over the weekend as eight people died during a crowd surge at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival on Friday, November 5. Now, Scott is facing multiple lawsuits over the event and Drake is a defendant in one of them.

As previously reported, Astroworld attendee Manuel Souza is suing Scott, Live Nation, and organizer ScoreMore. The lawsuit claims the incident was the result of “a motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety” and the “encouragement of violence.” It also calls the situation a “predictable and preventable tragedy.”

Souza’s attorney, Steve Kherkher of Kherkher Garcia LLP, wrote, “Defendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner. Instead, they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors.”

Furthermore, NME reports that another suit was filed by Texas-based attorney Thomas J. Henry, on behalf of an unnamed Astroworld attendee. Listed as co-defendants are Scott, Drake, Live Nation, and NRG Stadium, and a press release from Henry’s law firm alleges the surge happened when Drake made a surprise appearance on stage.

“There is no excuse for the events that unfolded at NRG stadium on Friday night,” Henry said in a statement. “There is every indication that the performers, organizers, and venue were not only aware of the hectic crowd but also that injuries and potential deaths may have occurred. Still, they decided to put profits over their attendees and allowed the deadly show to go on.”

Beyond that, there’s yet another lawsuit, filed by civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump on behalf of Astroworld attendee Noah Gutierrez, who claims to have offered assistance to crowd members in need in the VIP section.

Crump wrote in a statement, “We are hearing horrific accounts of the terror and helplessness people experienced — the horror of a crushing crowd and the awful trauma of watching people die while trying unsuccessfully to save them. We will be pursuing justice for all our clients who were harmed in this tragic and preventable event.”

The statement also notes that Crump expects to file more lawsuits on behalf of other victims in the coming days, so it appears Scott’s plate is full when it comes to legal trouble.

Blueface Hit With Arrest Warrant For Assaulting Bouncer

The ongoing saga of Blueface’s assault has been taken to the next step. In mid September, the Los Angeles rapper was seen on camera roughing up a bouncer at a bar near his hometown. He is now facing the repercussions of that attack.

Blueface and two other accomplices from the video have now been issued arrest warrants, charged with felony assault and felony robbery.

The alleged assault was fueled by a bouncer in San Fernando Valley not allowing Blueface entrance into a bar named Skinny’s Lounge. Blueface did not have any form of identification on him, but tried to use a photo of himself on Google to prove to the bouncer his age and status. When the bouncer told him that was not adequate, Blueface and his crew assaulted him, which was caught on the bar’s security camera.

They were seen beating, punching and kicking the bouncer until he did not get back up. The man sought medical attention for his several bruises and scratches, and eventually an ambulance arrived on the scene.

The robbery charge comes from a member of Blueface’s crew allegedly stealing one of the bouncer’s chains. Blueface was quick to issue a supposed response in the following days, in a now-deleted Instagram post captioned: “You need people like me to point the finger at an[d] say that’s the bad guy –Scarface.”

Blueface’s actions have come back to haunt him, as he and his accomplices are facing serious charges and are actively wanted by police. It is unknown at the moment if Blueface will surrender to the authorities or not, but it is hard to imagine this ends well for him.

Beanie Sigel Says Kanye West Owes Him $50M & 5% Stock In Yeezy

Kanye West’s recent appearance on DJ EFN and N.O.R.E.’s YouTube Show, Drink Champsmade major internet waves over the weekend.

In a two-and-a-half hour interview, Ye took addressed every elephant in the room. Speaking on everything from his bizarre new haircut to his beef with Drake to his divorce from Kim Kardashian, the artist formerly known as Mr. West cast a wide umbrella.

While Ye’s proclamation that signing Big Sean to G.O.O.D. Music was the worst thing he ever did received the lion’s share of attention following the interview, the 44-year-old did touch on his Roc-A-Fella Records days, and revealed who coined his iconic “Yeezy” nickname.

Explaining that he always received nicknames from the groups he was around, Ye said that Beanie Sigel was the first to call him Yeezy.

“People who took a liking to me in volatile situations, would always give me a nickname, so it seemed like I was cool like them,” Ye said. “(Yeezy) was Beanie’s name for me when I was at Baseline. On some like ‘That’s Yeezy’ … make him one of us. He let me wear his State Property chain. He really just embraced me.”

Along with the explanation of where “Yeezy” came from, Ye said that he’s been trying to compensate Sigel for coming up with the name that has become a billion dollar brand.

“I still owe Beanie money, and I been trying to give him this money for a minute,” he told DJ EFN and N.O.R.E. “I been trying to give it to him … this man made up the name. It’s like, you know, the lady who made the Nike Swoosh. Phil Knight went back and made sure she was straight.”

During a weekend appearance at a club in his hometown of Philadelphia, Sigel revealed just how much money Ye has been trying to give to him.

“I got a call from the motherf*cker the other day, Kanye West, he said ‘Sig I owe you $50M and 5% stock in Yeezy,'” Beanie told the onlooking crowd.

Sigel continued on to explain that Ye’s Yeezy brand did $1.7 billion in sales in 2020, and while he didn’t reveal exactly how much that 5% stock is worth right now, it is certainly an impressive chunk of money. And combined with the flat $50M that Ye says he owes him, it looks like Sigel is in for a massive payday.

Keep it locked to HNHH for any updates on when Sigel gets paid and, in the meantime, let us know what you think of Ye saying he owes Beanie for coming up with his Yeezy nickname down in the comments.

Travis Scott Issues Astroworld Festival Refunds, Cancels Day N Vegas Performance

Following the tragedy at Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas this weekend, where eight people lost their lives and over three hundred were treated for injuries following a massive crowd surge, rapper Travis Scott has canceled his upcoming performance at the Day N Vegas festival. According to an exclusive report by Variety, Scott will also be issuing full refunds to anybody who bought tickets to Astroworld.

As firsthand accounts reveal from the festival, Scott continued performing for thirty-seven minutes after the police described the situation at NRG Park as a “mass casualty” incident. There have been reports about somebody who stabbed a security guard with a needle and injected them with drugs. An investigation is reportedly open to determine whether more people were injected.

An official announcement has not been made about Scott’s decision to pull out of Day N Vegas. Scott was previously scheduled to be performing on the Frank Stage at the end of the night, but a replacement has not been revealed.

Already, several lawsuits have been filed against Scott and Live Nation, the organizer of Astroworld Festival. Drake was also sued by one man who was injured at Astrofest, claiming that Scott and Drake “incited mayhem” at the show.

Jordan Love’s Family Gets Done Dirty With Horrible Seats

Jordan Love got to make his debut for the Green Bay Packers yesterday afternoon as Aaron Rodgers was out due to COVID-19. The Packers were taking on the Kansas City Chiefs and for the most part, it was a very difficult game for Love who couldn’t seem to get anything going offensively. In the end, Green Bay lost by a score of 13-7, and now, they are 7-2 on the season.

Perhaps the biggest story from Love’s first game with the team was the fact that his mom and girlfriend got the worst seats in the house at Arrowhead Stadium. In the video below, you can see the two cheering Love on from way high up in the nosebleeds, which caused quite a stir on social media.

Many felt like the Chiefs were responsible for these bad seats, however, reporter Amy Trask revealed that the Packers are the ones who have to make the requests for tickets. If the team asks too late, then the seats could end up being quite terrible. In the end, that is probably what took place, and as a result, Love’s support system got stuck with some of the worst seats in the house for his debut.

At the end of the day, it’s probably best they weren’t up close for the outing, as it was certainly one to forget. With Rodgers coming back soon, it remains to be seen how many more starts Love will get this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Speaks On Bucks’ Less Than Stellar Start

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks defied the odds last year as they won the NBA championship against the Phoenix Suns. Giannis won league MVP and it was thought at the time that he was the new best player in the league. This season, the Bucks seemed poised for a hot start thanks to a convincing win over the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, things have not gone according to plan since then.

Last night, the Bucks lost to the Washington Wizards, and now, they are 4-6 to start the year. With injuries and illnesses to some of their best players, the Bucks have struggled, and Giannis is well aware that some things need to change.

Following the loss to the Wizards, Giannis took to Twitter with a photo of himself from the game, with the caption”72 games to get better.” This is certainly a good mentality to have, as it is a very long season before you even get close to the postseason. The Bucks struggled in the early going of last season as well, and in the end, they were crowned as champions.

Once the Bucks get fully healthy, the tide should be able to turn quite a bit. After all, Giannis is a two-time MVP who knows how to win when it matters.

Drake Gets Looped Into Travis Scott Astroworld Festival Lawsuit: Report

Many are expecting dozens of lawsuits targeted toward Travis Scott and the organizers of his Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas at NRG Park after what happened this weekend. Eight people, including a fourteen-year-old child, lost their lives at the event after a massive crowd surge led to attendees being trampled. There are reports that over three hundred people were injured.

23-year-old Texas resident Kristian Paredes is among those that were seriously injured at Astrofest, and he has officially filed a lawsuit against Travis Scott, Drake, and more for “inciting mayhem” at the concert. Paredes is being repped by Thomas J. Henry Law.

This comes after a separate lawsuit was filed by Houston man Manuel Souza, who accused Travis Scott, Live Nation, and others of being responsible for the tragedy.

According to Paredes’ lawsuit, he felt an immediate “push” at the front of the general admission area when Travis Scott got on stage. “The crowd became chaotic and a stampede began. Many begged security guards hired by Live Nation Entertainment for help, but were ignored,” says the paperwork. According to reports, the lawsuit mentions Scott “inciting mayhem” at previous concerts and events. Paredes also says Drake had a hand in making things worse.

“As Drake came onstage alongside Travis Scott he helped incite the crowd even though he knew of Travis Scott’s prior conduct,” it states in the documents.

Houston Police Department has named the deceased victims from Astroworld Festival, including 16-year-old Brianna Rodriguez, 27-year-old Danish Baig, 21-year-olds Franco Patino and Jacob Jurinek, 23-year-old Rudy Pena, and others.

Saweetie Tweeted That She Wants Some Babies, And Certified Baby Maker Nick Cannon Is Down To Step Up

It was just this past summer that Nick Cannon cause the attention of social media and the entertainment world for the number of children he was seemingly having in a rather short amount of time. In June, model Alyssa Scott, the mother of Nick’s seventh child, revealed the birth of their baby boy Zen. Elsewhere, Cannon also had twin boys, Zion and Zillion, with Abby De La Rosa earlier this year, as that announcement came less than a week before Scott’s own. Furthermore, Cannon and Brittany Bell’s daughter Powerful Queen was born last December. In September, Cannon alluded to going celibate thanks to a conversation with his therapist, but he may break that rule for one individual.

Saweetie expressed her desire to have children in a tweet, writing, “I want some babies.” Cannon caught wind of her message and responded with a group of emojis that included a hand-raising one, a thinking face, and a laughing emoji. It all seems to be a joke from Cannon as it produced some laughs on the timeline. Saweetie has yet to reply to Cannon’s tweet.

The interaction comes after Anitta and Sweetie joined forces to perform “Faking Love” on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Check out a screenshot above.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
