Troy Ave Speaks On Alpo Martinez’s Death

More information regarding the fatal shooting of Alpo Martinez has emerged since his death on Sunday. Investigators revealed that they found an ID of Abraham Rodriguez from Lewiston, Maine — his name under the WPP, according to REVOLT. Martinez entered the witness protection program after he was released from prison in 2015. The former kingpin ultimately became an informant for the federal government which got his sentence cut short.

Though people like Rich Porter’s niece celebrated the news of Martinez’s passing, Troy Ave responded to the various reactions made across social media. Troy called out the “opinionated” bunch who don’t stand for a cause. “They gon be real opinionated on Alpo now that he dead,” he wrote with a facepalm emoji. “Picking and choosing is foe weak ass n****az y’all nor Alpha y’all only stand on the moment not for the cause. I’m bringing the facto show back for balance in the media.”

The Facto Show was a podcast hosted by Troy Ave that has seemingly gone on hiatus.

Alpo Martinez was shot and killed in Harlem this past weekend after he was reportedly leaving the club. The latest reports about his death revealed that he had reportedly worn a mask to the Halloween party in an attempt to conceal his identity.

We’ll keep you posted on more information on the passing of Alpo Martinez.

Summer Walker Reveals Star-Studded “Still Over It” Tracklist

With Summer Walker’s second studio album, Still Over It, set to drop this Friday, November 5, the “Come Thru” singer has finally revealed the record’s 20-song tracklist.

With song titles ranging from “Ex For A Reason” to “Constant Bullshit” to “4th Baby Mama,” it’s clear that Still Over It will follow in the footsteps of it’s 2019 predecessor, Over It, with themes of sex, love, relationships and the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with all of it.

Boasting 20 tracks, Still Over It, will certainly be an attempt to rack up the streaming numbers, especially with a long list of big-name features.

Beginning with narration from Cardi B on the album’s opening track, “Bitter,” fans will be immediately immersed in the Still Over It universe, bouncing from Cardi to JT to SZA in the first three tracks. Walker will go solo from the record’s fourth track, “Throw It Away,” to the record’s tenth track, “Switch A N***a Out,” before Ari Lennox appears on “Unloyal.” Lil Durk, Pharrell and Omarion are set to provide back-to-back-to-back features on “Toxic,” “Dat Right There” and “Screwin,” before Ciara is featured on Still Over It’s final track, fittingly named “Ciara’s Prayer.”

Walker’s revealing of the Still Over It tracklist comes on the heels of an impressive album rollout that included fans smashing open glass cases containing the album in hopes of securing an exclusive first listen. And based on the fervor fans showed in trying to smash the glass cases, it’s safe to assume there is an extremely high level of excitement for Walker’s follow up to Over It, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200.

Ts Madison Questions Boosie’s Parenting Skills In Response To Lil Nas X Comments

Boosie Badazz and Lil Nas X’s divisive beef has attracted the eyes of many in the industry. Although Lil Nas X claims he is done addressing Boosie’s homophobic remarks, they are still rubbing others the wrong way.

Ts Madison was the latest to respond to Boosie’s ideologies during a Breakfast Club interview this morning. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, TS Madison questioned Boosie’s motives when he said he is looking out for children: “My thing is when he said (Lil Nas X) is a detriment to kids and we need to worry about the kids, but I’m like, but you the same man had a overgrown a** woman perform a fellatio on your young son and you didn’t see anything wrong with that.” Madison said. “Make it make sense to me. I was so confused about the situation like who kids really need to be protected.”

Along with homophobic and transphobic remarks, Boosie recently told Lil Nas X to kill himself in a series of tweets.

While Ts Madison and others like Lil Nas X’s father, Azealia Banks and countless fans have come to Lil Nas X’s defense, celebrities like Big Freedia have actually attempted to soften the blow of Boosie’s behavior.

Boosie still does not think that he is in the wrong, as he explained yesterday that he feels like a voice for his fans in advocating for their shared beliefs.

Ts Madison later said in her interview that she understands how people have different views because they were raised different ways, but that should not allow for them to be hateful: “You share this world with everyone who has been raised in their house. So you may not accept it, but you need to respect it.”

Terrace Martin’s New Album ‘Drones’ Will Feature Cordae, Kendrick Lamar, And Ty Dolla Sign

Although Terrace Martin’s last solo full-length collection came out four years ago (2017’s criminally overlooked Sounds Of Crenshaw Vol. 1 with The Pollyseeds), the Los Angeles producer has nevertheless remained busy throughout the past year, co-producing a number of EPs including They Call Me Disco with Ric Wilson and joining the jazz supergroup Dinner Party with 9th Wonder, Kamasi Washington, and Robert Glasper. However, today he announced his solo return with Drones, a new album coming out this Friday, November 5.

Included on the album’s 13 tracks are appearances from a veritable who’s-who of hip-hop luminaries including Cordae, D Smoke, Kendrick Lamar, Smino, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla Sign, and YG. Martin’s Dinner Party bandmates Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper are also set to appear, along with a genre-hopping collection of rising stars and well-known hitmakers including Arin Ray, Celeste, Channel Tres, Hit-Boy, James Fauntleroy, Kim Burrell, and Kim Burrell.

In his press release for the new album, Martin teases the eclectic mix of sounds he intends to display throughout: “There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” he says. “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”

Drones is due 11/5 via Sounds of Crenshaw / BMG. You can pre-order here and check out the lead single, “Leave Us Be,” above.

Lil Nas X Says He Regrets The First Big Purchase He Made With His Record Label Money

Lil Nas X is definitely an example of a self-starter. The musician’s debut smash hit “Old Town Road” was first uploaded to SoundCloud and shared on TikTok before being picked up by a record label. So when Lil Nas X first inked a recording contract, he celebrated by making a big purchase — which he now regrets.

When Lil Nas X first signed a record deal with Columbia, the musician was suddenly confronted with a bunch of money. As most people would do, Lil Nas X decided to buy himself something nice to celebrate, he recalled in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. For his first post-record contract purchase, Lil Nas X shelled out $2,000 for a a Burberry jacket but then had almost instantaneous buyer’s remorse. He told WSJ he’s never really enjoyed shopping for himself and saw the jacket as a frivolous purchase. “What was the point? To post it on Instagram once?” he said. Later down the line, Lil Nas X ended up buying himself a house with his new funds, which still to this day hasn’t been filled with many furniture items because he’d “rather take his friends or family members out on shopping sprees instead.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the musician described the one thing that helped him really open up with the lyrics on his album: psychedelic mushrooms. “I was able to open up a lot,” he says about the trip. “I was able to write actual stories about my life and put it into my music. I actually did that for the first time.” Lil Nas X isn’t the only musician who has taken mushrooms to help kickstart the creative process. Kacey Musgraves did the same with her Star-Crossed album, and so did Harry Styles on Fine Line.

Anderson .Paak Announces New Apeshit Record Label In Partnership With UMG

Anderson .Paak has officially launched a brand-new record label.

In partnership with Universal Music Group, .Paak is launching Apeshit, a label designed to help artists navigate the “jungle” that is the modern music industry.

The first half of the Apeshit name (A.P.E.) is an acronym for Anderson .Paak Empire, and according to the Silk Sonic singer, Apeshit is “going to be about passion, about feeling, about honesty. It’s about respect for the culture and art and it’s about heart.”

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Noting what he feels is a glaring lack of artists playing real instruments, .Paak emphasized that Apeshit will be geared towards artists who can play instruments and perform at the same time.

“The label will look to raise the bar on music with its selection of artists, no gimmicks, no button-pushing, just raw talent,” .Paak said. “I was going to shows and realized that less and less I was seeing actual performers … Where is the next generation that can play instruments?? I know they’re out there – don’t sell your instruments, this label wants to hear you!!”

.Paak’s announcement of the Apeshit launch was accompanied by an Instagram video portraying .Paak in a press conferece, answering questions about the new record label. Featuring comedian Teddy Ray, the IG video gives a taste of .Paak’s humor, as well as a clear definition of what Apeshit is going to be.

“The game is crazy, man. This industry can be like a jungle,” .Paak said during his staged press conference. “If the industry is like the jungle, well I guess we got no choice but to go apeshit.”

According to a press release, Apeshit will be headquartered in Los Angeles.

Keep it locked to HNHH for any further updates on Apeshit and the label’s debut signings when they are announced.

“Squid Game” Crytpocurrency Creators Make Off With $3.38M From Investors In “Rug Pull” Scam

Last week, a new Squid Game-inspired cryptocurrency called SQUID made huge waves when it jumped over 75,000% (from $0.012 on Tuesday to $9.19) in less than a week.

Now, however, it is being reported that SQUID was essentially a scam.

According to a report by GizmondoSQUID peaked at a price of $2,861 on Monday morning before immediately plummeting to $0 around 5:40 a.m. This dramatic decrease comes as a result of what Gizmondo called a “rug pull,” which is when “creators of the crypto quickly cash out their coins for real money, draining the liquidity pool from the exchange.”

Despite a ton of reported red flags, “including a three-week old website filled with bizarre spelling and grammatical errors,” investors were still all-in on SQUID, purchasing the cryptocurrency at rapid rates all throughout last week. Unfortunately, many were sorely disappointed when the crypto plummeted to $0 and left high and dry. According to Gizmondo, the creators of the SQUID deleted their SquidGame.cash website, all affiliated social media accounts, and made off with an estimated $3.38 million.

While it is clear that the creators of SQUID pulled off a multi-million dollar scam, what happens next is not. A ton of investors lost a ton of money, but according to Complex, there were many warnings when it came to SQUID — the first being that the cryptocurrency had no real connection with the show itself.

“We have received multiple reports that the website and socials are no longer functional & the users are not able to sell this token in Pancakeswap,” crypto website CoinMarketCap warned before the scam went full-force. “Please do your own due diligence and exercise extreme caution. This project, while clearly inspired by the Netflix show of the same name, is not affiliated with the official IP.”

Whether investors will be able to recoup any of their lost funds is unknown. It’s clear that there were red flags and warnings surrounding SQUID, and that investors simply did not listen. And with major media companies covering the emergence of SQUID without any criticism, an echo chamber was created, leading to more and more investors pouring money into the now-defunct cryptocurrency.

Stay tuned for updates on this story.

Multi-Talented Terrace Martin Single “Leave Us Be” Ahead Of New Album

It is always heartwarming to see those who work behind the scenes get the recognition they deserve. Many voices and contributors go into making great, lasting music, and all involved deserve praise.

Terrace Martin flew under the radar for years, helping to insert the elements of jazz and Black music into some of Kendrick Lamar’s greatest hits in 2010s. After producing Lamar songs like “The Blacker the Berry” and “King Kunta,” Martin is now poised to make waves as an artist himself.

Terrace Martin released “Leave Us Be” on Nov. 2, the official lead single for his upcoming 13-track album DRONES coming this Friday. The album includes high level feature guests such as Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Cordae, James Fauntleroy, Smino and more.

On “Leave Us Be,” Martin colorfully depicts the everyday life of a Black man in his community. Hailing from the Los Angeles neighborhood Crenshaw, his passionately sung verses coincide elegantly with the rhythmic drums on the instrumental.

The horns at the end of the track complete the groovy atmosphere “Leave Us Be” strived for.

This single gives Terrace Martin an excellent foot forward ahead of DRONES, which looks to be a breakout project for the producer-singer-songwriter. Martin’s track record surely allowed him to access the caliber of artists found on the tracklist of the upcoming record, releasing under his own label Sounds of Crenshaw.

Quotable Lyrics
LA livin’
Homies stay on go
The hood relentless
Pain is all we know
Baby moms pull up trippin’
Police passin’ by

HNHH: You just got off stage. What was it been like getting back to performances after the lockdown?

Fivio Foreign: It was crazy. I did a couple [shows] before this, but I think this was the biggest stage post-Corona. This was the biggest stage so pretty good.

And being in New York, you know the hometown crowd is going to treat you like royalty.

Love the New York shit. I love it. I love performing everywhere else but when you perform where you’re from, that was just like… they fuck with me. I jumped in there first.

How did the pandemic affect your career?

Well, I mean, you gotta understand, I hadn’t been an artist for a long time [before the pandemic]. Or like mainstream, like I don’t really know the difference between post-COVID and pre-COVID yet. I really don’t know. Because it’s not like I had a career a year before so I don’t know. As I was coming up with my shit, COVID happened so I’m just going with the flow.

We’re right across from the Kappa tent, and you actually did a collaboration with them for this weekend. How did that come about?

You know, where I’m from we love Kappa. I fuck with them so I was on it. And I was honored that they came and wanted to fuck with me.

You previously revealed that Kanye West is the executive producer of your upcoming album. How’s everything going with that, can we get an update?

I mean, yeah, Kanye. Kanye is so busy. He’ll just be in Paris one day. I’ll text him, like, ‘where you at?’ and he’ll be like, ‘I’m in LA this day.’ So, like, we link up at moments where we both free. We work, we do a little bit here, a little bit there and we do it like that. But I fuck with him, man. His brainpower, his genius, he’s a super-genius, we do more than just business.

“Kanye is so busy. He’ll just be in Paris one day. I’ll text him, like, ‘where you at?’ and he’ll be like, ‘I’m in LA this day.’ So, like, we link up at moments where we both free.”

Around when do you think you’ll be ready to drop the album?

I’m aiming… you know what, what I’m doing right now. I know everybody want it, and I wanna make sure it really goes viral. So what I want to do is I want to drop it after something really big. A big moment, and then I’mma drop my album. So right now like, something might happen tomorrow, it might drop tomorrow. A month from now, but no later than like two, three months.

Is it ready? It’s ready to drop whenever?

Yeah, it’s ready.

How does it differ from your previous releases?

This one is more mature. I just had more time to think, I had more time to create. I feel like I’ve been so busy, you know, of course I’m talented, whatever the case may be, but I’ve been so busy that when I drop music, it’s just on the spot music. I feel like now, I give myself more time to create, like, when you’re creating it, you need time to do nothing, moments where you’re just doing nothing so your brain will just get– so I give myself time.

On one of your recent singles, “Story Time,” you open up about your early life, your experience in jail, and more. It’s a more introspective record for you. What was it like writing a song that’s so personal to you?

I feel like, with things like that, when it hits me is when people respond, when people go, like, ‘Oh, this is crazy.’ Or when somebody lived through a similar situation, that’s when I feel it.

Working with Ye so closely in the last few months, what’s the best advice that he’s given you?

The best advice he gave me… I feel like it really wasn’t advice, but it’s something I learned from being around him. It’s that even though you got people working for you, you might got somebody doing this, and you might got somebody doing that, he told me that you as the brain, as the person in charge of that shit, you got to be on top of everything. It’s not like you hire these people, you just go, boom, and everybody does their job. You gotta give direct directions. Then you really could make it successful, because you’ve got the brain, you’ve got the art, you know.

You’re on Lil Tjay’s new record “Not In The Mood” with Kay Flock. How did that come together?

Lil Tjay’s been my brother from the beginning of this shit. Tjay is the person who introduced Columbia Records to me, like he put that together. That whole situation. He’s from New York. New York slums, trenches. And he appreciates that type of music. And he was telling them, ‘Yo listen, this music is what’s next and spiraling.’ And they was like, ‘Ay, lemme check it out.’ I was doing me, I was sitting down and going viral, know what I mean. I fuck with Kay Flock too.

“[Lil] Tjay is the person who introduced Columbia Records to me, like he put that together. That whole situation. He’s from New York. New York slums, trenches. And he appreciates that type of music.”

He’s got a cool voice.

Yeah, he’s got that voice.

Who do you have your eyes on coming out of Brooklyn right now?

I feel it’s like the people around me. I got artists that just opened up for me. Bam Bino, K Goddess, Chinese Kitty, and that’s all Brooklyn.

What’s coming up next for you?

I got a song called “Say My Name,” a Beyoncé sample.

“I got a song called “Say My Name,” a Beyoncé sample.”

You’re joking, right? No, you don’t! How the hell did you clear a Beyoncé sample?

She’s signed to Columbia! So it wasn’t that hard. But I fuck with Beyoncé. Like I’ve been a fan of Beyoncé since I was young. So that’s what’s coming up next. I got some shit coming out on November 12. You know me, I stick to the script.

A lot of people are gonna be excited about that. I appreciate you for taking the time! Enjoy the rest of the festival.

Megan Thee Stallion Explains How Queen Latifah Inspired Her As An ‘All-Around Businesswoman’

In a new interview for Glamour magazine, Megan Thee Stallion reveals one of the influences behind her refined business sense: Queen Latifah, who showed Meg that she could be multiple things in addition to one of rap’s modern-day queens.

“Queen Latifah is amazing,” Meg tells Glamour‘s Zandria Robinson. “She is all around someone I look up to because she took it further than music. She’s an all-around businesswoman who lets me know I can like more than one thing, and I can pursue more than one thing.”

Among the things Meg is currently pursuing is a degree in health administration from Texas Southern after switching from nursing and business. She recently completed all the coursework for her graduation this year and previously showed off her graduation cap on social media.“I’m making A’s now; I’m focused,” she says.

Meg also explains why she’s become such an outspoken advocate for women’s rights — especially Black women — to the point of using her 2020 SNL performance to call to “protect Black women” despite backlash from both fans and politicians. “The bigger I get, the bigger my platform gets, I start realizing that I’m not the only woman that goes through what I go through, and it doesn’t matter what scale it’s on,” she says. “Mine is just public because I’m a public figure. I want to bring things to light so other women don’t feel like they have to continue to be silent.”
