Lil Nas X Continues To Sing Playboi Carti’s Praises: “Rockstar In The Rap Realm”

Fans are expecting that one of these days, Playboi Carti might just buckle and work with Lil Nas X. The Montero star has long voiced his admiration of the rapper and it isn’t a secret that Lil Nas X is a huge fan. It was just about a month ago when Nas X shared a video of himself to Twitter where he let the world know which artists he was interested in collaborating with. They included the likes of Azaelia Banks, SZA, Playboi Carti, and Tyler, The Creator.

Carti once again received a shoutout from the chart-topping rapper-singer while Nas X was on the red carpet for the Wall Street Journal‘s Innovator Awards. He was being recognized alongside several other figures at the event in addition to his recent feature with the publication.

Lil Nas X was asked what artists he believes are innovative.

“Playboi Carti, me personally, I feel like he’s become like this huge rockstar in the Rap realm,” said Nas X. “He’s a pretty entertaining performer. Like, he goes out of the way and he does his own musical style. He’s gonna try what he wants to. I love that. I think that’s innovative.”

There is no word on whether to not Carti will one day link in the studio with Lil Nas X, but the Montero hitmaker has his fingers crossed. Check out the clip below.

Akbar V Is “Losing Faith” & Asks Funk Flex For Opportunity To Rap

The industry may be filled with opportunities for artists looking for their big breaks, but it still is difficult to make your mark. We live during a time where artists are able to carve out their own paths without the help of labels and a machine behind them, however, even those who find stardom from being social media influencers or viral sensations don’t have it easy.

We’ve witnessed people like Lil Nas X go from “Old Town Road” to breaking records once held by unmovable icons while others, like Akbar V, are still waiting for their moment.

Akbar V has become a recognized figure from her stint on Love & Hip Hop or her unfiltered posts online, but today (November 2), she was candid about the struggles she is facing about the future of her Rap career.

“I’m losing faith in my dream …  and it’s f*cking with,” Akbar tweeted. “I’m just praying God move for me … cause this all i ever wanted.” She also added, “The sh*t so frustrating… Man all i ever wanted was to rap that’s it Rap ….let me rap @funkflex i need to come rap…. This sh*t will make u want to give up when u feel they not believing or working hard for u.”

The Shade Room reposted the tweets and soon, the public flooded the comments with their takes on why Akbar isn’t as successful as she’s hoped. There were mentions of her online antics, including that scathing spat with Alexis Skyy and her fights with Tommie Lee, but Akbar returned in the comments with a response.

“Everybody with they opinions….. is kind of crazy [crying laughing emoji] but I’m thankful that none of u people is God [wink kiss heart emoji] and for the ones saying i can’t rap Chile ion even respond to that type of foolishness.”

A$AP Rocky Takes Bandana Off His Head & Gives It To Begging Fan

As the saying goes, “Ask and you shall receive,” and a fan has found out that this rings true. Often, fans have made outlandish requests of their favorite artists. Some have unashamedly taken to social media to ask for autographed merch, free tickets to shows, and some even want features on albums. Many line up outside of venues, hotels, and restaurants hoping to get a photo or even a hug from those that they admire, and A$AP Rocky made his fan’s day with only a bandana.

Rocky was out entertaining his supporters at an event and while several of them were outside waiting, one guy seemingly joked that he needed A$AP Rocky’s bandana. The only problem was that Rocky was wearing it.

Through the crowd, the man continued yelling for the rapper’s attention and Rocky went over to ask the fan what he needed. The man told the rapper that his hair wasn’t up to par and asked for his “durag.” Without hesitation, Rocky gave it to him and the crowd went wild.

The brief interaction was captured from every angle and over on the fan’s Instagram page, he made sure to share as much as possible. He even showed that he later got to meet A$AP Rocky face to face and thanked him for the bandana. Check out Rocky showing love to his fans below.

Jay-Z Rejoins Instagram For The First Time In Years To Promote His Upcoming Film

Jay-Z’s has long only been on two social media services: Facebook and Twitter, and he doesn’t use them that often. He once, during the summer of 2015, gave Instagram a try, but he only lasted about 14 hours, according to the NY Daily News, deleting his account after sharing a picture with Michael Jackson. Now, more than six years later, Jay is back on Instagram.

He rejoined the social media platform under the account name @jayz, there to promote his upcoming film The Harder They Fall, which he executive produced. As of 10:55 EST, Jay raked up more than 513,000 followers on Instagram, which will surely increase as more people become aware of his presence on the app.

During the London premiere for The Harder They Fall last month, Jay spoke about his passion for the film. “I’m super excited for Jeymes [Samuel], who’s actually from London,” he said. “Just the idea of him releasing his major debut, because he’s done film work and he’s done music. But for him to be releasing in London, a place where he’s from, it has to be a dream for him. So I’m super proud of my brother.”

In addition to co-executive producing the film, Jay has provided two songs to the movie’s soundtrack. The first is “My Guns Go Bang” with Kid Cudi and the second is “King Kong Riddim” with Conway The Machine, Jadakiss, and British rapper Backroad Gee.

Jay-Z Officially Joins Instagram & Fans Can’t Handle It

No, your eyes are not deceiving you; Jay-Z is on Instagram. The Rap mogul isn’t one for keeping up with social media like his peers who like to troll others, give inspirational video updates, or share clips of themselves in the studio. Fans have often popped up with accounts dedicated to Hov, some amassing followers into the hundreds of thousands as they post daily about the New York icon.

However, things are changing over in Jay’s camp because today (November 2), the rapper is easing into the holiday season by launching his official Instagram page.

For now, things are looking pretty bare aside from Jay’s first post about The Harder They Fall. Jay-Z acts as one of the producers of the star-studded western film and even appeared on two songs on the soundtrack. Although the movie was officially released weeks ago, it will premiere on Netflix tomorrow, so it seems Jay-Z is getting a headstart on promotion. To help get the word out, Beyoncé even reposted her husband’s Instagram Story about the film’s release.

Additionally, Jay-Z’s number of followers is growing by the minute and at the time of this publication, he was already up to 763K. We can’t wait to see what he’ll be sharing—if anything—but for now, check out Hova’s first post below.

TDE’s MixedByAli Launched His Own Record Label And Said His First Artist Reminds Him Of Kendrick Lamar

At the end of last year, TDE’s in-house engineer Derek “MixedByAli” Ali announced that he purchased Death Row Records, the iconic studio where rap legends like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Tupac Shakur recorded classic records. He renamed it NoName Studios, after his newly-launched label, NoName Recordings, and quickly signed his first artist: Malik Moses, who recently released his new single, “Show Me Something” with Bas. Fresh off the singing, Ali explained what he liked most about his new artist.

“The way he was able to really catch my attention with his selection of beats, the way his production was laid out, the way his songwriting and just how he carried himself sonically, that reminded me of working with Kendrick [Lamar] and working with Thundercat and Terrace Martin,” Ali told Rolling Stone. “It gave me that same feeling instantly as soon as I heard the first four bars of his music, and that’s rare nowadays.”

Ali also spoke about his overall vision for NoName Recordings. “We just want our label to be that safe place where artists can create, artists can have that creative freedom,” he said. “I don’t hear of too many audio engineers starting ventures like this, so it’s a different perspective to bring into the industry, the perspective from somebody who’s in the trenches understanding how it works and the grind that it takes to really be successful.”

You can listen to Morris’ new single and read the full Ali’s full interview with Rolling Stone here.
