Little Simz Stuns In The “I Love You, I Hate You” Short Film

In the music industry, artists have a tendency of releasing short films that play more like a mashup of various music videos than an actual work of cinema. Little Simz, whose fourth studio album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is one of the essential Hip-Hop albums of 2021, beats that stigma by releasing I Love You, I Hate You – The Film, a real-deal short film inspired by her critically acclaimed track “I Love You, I Hate You.”

Having already landed roles in Netflix’s Top Boy and Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Little Simz proved once again that her skills stretch far beyond the realm of music. According to Complex, Simz takes on the lead role of Sage, a young writer dealing with trauma and abandonment, in the 22-minute short film, and the Sam Pilling-directed project also features C.J. Beckford, Sonia Ajuwa, and Shaniqua Okwok in supporting roles.

“Love You, I Hate You’ is the story of abandonment, how trauma can affect us in our adult lives if never confronted,” Little Simz says when speaking of the short film. “I wanted to make this film because I feel it’s a universal story that many people can relate to. It’s been incredible to work with a partner like WePresent, who are so invested in telling stories like this. They understood and trusted my vision from the jump and had my back to create the film I set out to make.”

Cam Newton Comes Through With Amazing Gesture For Panthers Fans

Cam Newton is finally back with the Carolina Panthers and fans couldn’t be happier. When he was released by the team over a year ago, fans were worried about what would come of his career. After an unsuccessful stint with the Patriots, Cam has found his way back to the franchise, and this weekend, he is expected to start for the team. This is great news for Panthers fans everywhere, and there is no doubt that Newton will look to impress against the Washington Football Team.

With his return in mind, Newton is now looking to give back to the fans who always supported him. Newton has noticed how the Bank Of America Stadium has been overrun by wealthier and less enthusiastic fans, and he wants to change that.

According to reporter Ari Meirov, Newton is going to give away 50 tickets to fans who never get to go to the games. Newton wants to take back the stadium and show people that there is still a lot of pride to go around in Carolina. It is certainly a great gesture and the fans who will get these tickets will forever be grateful for it.

With Newton starting this weekend, the Panthers have an opportunity to get back above .500, and if Newton impresses throughout the rest of the season, then we could see him back in Carolina for good.

Russell Westbrook Mistakes New Staples Center Name As “Crip Arena”

Many are still reeling from the news that the Staples Center will be renamed the Crypto.com Arena. The cryptocurrency exchange paid a pretty penny for the naming right to the arena as they will now be tied for a couple of decades at a price of $700 million. This is a massive deal for the city of Los Angeles, as pretty well every single Lakers fan is used to calling the place the Staples Center. Even with the name change going down next month, it’s likely that people will continue to call it Staples.

Over the past couple of days, players throughout the league, especially those in L.A., have been asked about the change. When Russell Westbrook of the Lakers was asked about this new move, he ended up offering a pretty humorous take on it all, albeit through a misunderstanding.

As you can see in the clip below, Russ thought the reporter said the new arena would be called “Crip Arena,” which is definitely a funny slip-up. Over the past couple of days, some fans have joked about renaming the arena this, although we’re sure Crypto.com will not approve. Either way, it’s clear that people aren’t all that enthused about the new name.

Antonio Brown Allegedly Paid His Chef For A Fake Vaccine Card

Antonio Brown has been known to get into some controversies over the past few years, however, in recent months, he has been on the quieter side of things. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver has been recovering from an injury and it is believed that he will be back soon. Unfortunately for Brown, his return might have to wait, as he is now being accused of faking his vaccination status as a way to skirt all of the NFL’s health protocols.

In a report from the Tampa Bay Times, Brown’s former chef Steven Ruiz accused the wide receiver of asking him to purchase a fake vaccination card, which was then submitted to the Buccaneers, unbeknownst to them. As Ruiz explains, he was paid $500 for the card, and now, he is exposing the wide receiver as Brown reportedly owes Ruiz $10,000.

This is a story that is not uncommon, as Aaron Rodgers got caught lying about his vaccination status, a few weeks ago. There are various players who hate the new health protocols, and their reluctance to get the vaccine has ultimately caused them to take drastic measures such as fake vaccination cards.

Interestingly enough, Brown’s lawyer is claiming that Brown is, indeed, vaccinated, which certainly goes against what Ruiz is claiming here. While Ruiz did show alleged text messages between himself and Brown’s girlfriend, there is still a lot to be discovered here.

Boosie Badazz Delays “Back To BR” & “Mississippi” Out Of Respect For Young Dolph

Following the tragic and unexpected death of Young Dolph on Wednesday, Hip-Hop artists and fans alike have been taking a moment to mourn the loss of the late, beloved rapper. As a result, insensitive posts and badly timed releases have caused people to speak out against artists such as Asian Doll and Soulja Boy. While the former was merely accused of clout chasing, some, like Atlanta’s own Trouble, have interpreted Soulja Boy’s decision to drop his new single “Stretch Some” as a malicious final laugh in his beef with the recently deceased rapper.

Now, it has been announced that Boosie Badazz will sidestep any similar type of drama by delaying his two forthcoming albums, Back To BR and Mississippi.

Originally slated to release on November 19, Boosie took to Twitter to explain that the delay is out of respect for Young Dolph.

“IM GO SET MY ALBUMS DATES BACK TO THE 25th of NOVEMBER WITH RESPECT FOR THE #dolph situations,” Boosie told his followers on Thursday afternoon. “BACK TO BR & MISSISSIPPI BOTH ALBUMS DROPPING ON THE 11/25.”

While tracklists for neither of the forthcoming albums have been shared yet, Boosie has revealed that there will be a grand total of over 30 songs between the two projects. Check out the album covers below and let us know if you’ve gotten more or less excited to hear Back To BR and Mississippi.

Big Boi And Sleepy Brown Gave A Head-Nodding Performance Of ‘Animalz’ On ‘Fallon’

You’ve really got to admire Big Boi‘s latter-career resilience. After splitting with his Outkast partner Andre 3000 in the late 2000s, he could have faded from public view like so many other rap group members or pivoted to acting as his former partner did. Instead, he only became more creative and productive, three solo studio albums and a joint EP with Phantogram titled Big Grams (he also dabbled a little in acting himself appearing in films like Baby Driver, Superfly, and most famously, ATL).

All this while consistently being underrated by fans on Twitter who constantly clamor for new Andre 3000 material while sometimes overlooking his critically-acclaimed and commercially successful solo efforts (the latest, Boomiverse, peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200). However, those fans have another chance to finally give Big Boi his just due with his upcoming joint project with longtime collaborator, fellow ATLien Sleepy Brown, titled The Big Sleepover.

Last night, the duo appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to debut the album’s latest single, “Animalz,” in front of an animated backdrop featuring a running tiger. With a dance-pop-centric beat and lyrics that ruminate on the nature of sex and love, the single is the latest evidence that fans should be watching Big Boi’s moves every bit as much as his erstwhile partner’s.

Will Smith Is Contemplating A Possible ‘Verzuz’ Matchup With LL Cool J, Who He Says ‘Is Going To Body Me’

Although Will Smith is probably better known for his film work than his music these days, his decades-long legacy as one of rap’s foremost pioneers will likely always be too important to ignore. With the Verzuz series paying homage to and highlighting many of the stars of yesteryear, XM Radio host Sway Calloway checked in with the former Fresh Prince on Sway In The Morning to find out whether he had any designs on signing up for a battle.

Surprisingly, Will said that he had been contemplating an appearance — and had even already chosen a potential competitor in LL Cool J — but that he’s been too busy writing and promoting his upcoming book to lock down a date. However, despite both rappers’ 20-plus years of hits, Will maintained that he believed “L is going to body me” in a one-to-hit battle, despite being able to draw upon cultural cornerstones like “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” “Summertime,” “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” and “Men In Black.”

However, there was one situation where co-host Heather B could foresee a Will Smith victory. “What’s dope about Will though, Will and L was out when the era when it was the DJ and the rapper,” she noted. “Everybody had their DJ so don’t let [DJ Jazzy] Jeff on the turn tables.” Will agreed, “That’s my secret weapon right there.”

Travis Scott, Drake, & Astroworld Organizers Sued For $2 Billion: Report

The legal woes for Travis Scott, Drake, and the organizers of the Astroworld Festival continue to get worse. After reports that over one-hundred lawsuits had been filed against Scott and his festival crew surfaced this weekend, it has been revealed that a new $2 billion lawsuit has been filed, naming Scott, Drake, and others.

Attorney Thomas Henry is reportedly representing over two-hundred Astroworld Festival attendees, and he has filed a $2 billion lawsuit on their behalf. According to TMZ, this is the fifth Astroworld-related complaint that Henry has filed.

The lawsuit mentions Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation, NRG Park, and more. It claims that the crowd was “incited into a frenzy” when Scott started performing, leading to a crowd surge that left ten people dead, and hundreds more injured. The $2 billion filing blames Astroworld organizers for not taking into account similar safety issues from the festival in 2019, where there was also difficulty with crowd control

“The Defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money of this event, yet they chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put the festival attendees at risk,” explains Henry.

It was previously reported that the festival’s venue, NRG Park, only had liability insurance worth up to $26 million. Even if Scott, Drake, and the festival organizers end up settling the multiple lawsuits, the insurer, and likely many of the parties involved, will lose a lot of money over the tragedy.

We will continue to keep you updated as more information comes out regarding the Astroworld fallout.
