Alicia Keys Recounts The Time She Curved A Teenage J. Cole

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats are one of Hip-Hop’s most beloved and long-lasting couples, but back at the turn of the 21st century, none other than J. Cole was reportedly trying to spark up a romance with Alicia Keys. According to HipHopDXJ. Cole was so set on meeting the Keys artist that he went to one of her concerts and strategically positioned himself so that he could get her attention after her show. Alas, J. Cole was unsuccessful, and history played out with the two artists finally crossing paths much later in their lives.

During Alicia Key’s recent interview for Complex‘s 360 with Speedy Morman, the 15-time Grammy Award-winner reacted to the hilarious story about her curving a teenage J. Cole, and according to her, she has no recollection of J. Cole’s story.

“[J. Cole] has this very crazy story,” Speedy Morman says, introducing the story. “He was 14 and you were 19, at the time, and you were both in Texas. He went to a show, and he had plans for you guys to cross paths, and he was gonna give you a look [that would] make you come up to him. And it didn’t happen that way! Did you ever hear that story?”

In response, Alicia Keys said, “I heard the story, and I think the story is amazing. Definitely can’t say that I remember the look I don’t know if the look made it to me. He might have had the look, but I might not have been there. I might have been too far to see the look.”

“I don’t remember it, but he clearly remembers it, and it’s a good vibe, you know, because it’s really cute because everybody has a story like that,” she continued. “You know that person that they just ‘if I could just get in front of them they would feel me I know it.'”

Elsewhere in the interview, Alicia Keys details some of her unreleased J. Cole records, so check out her full Complex interview below. To hear her discuss J. Cole’s unrequited teenage romance, just skip ahead to the 17:05 timestamp.

Zion Williamson Receives Apologies After Looking Slim In New Photo

Zion Williamson is a great basketball player although unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to show his talent that much over the past year. He has gone through numerous injuries, and as it stands, he is trying to come back from foot surgery. The New Orleans Pelicans star is also dealing with rumors about his weight, which came following some viral photos of his physique.

In fact, Williamson was rumored to be at 330 pounds, which is a pretty absurd number when you think about it. This was information reported by Tim MacMahon, and while some believed it, others called cap.

In another recent photo posted to social media, Williamson actually appeared to be quite slim while standing next to some fans. Admittedly, Zion looks pretty great and if this photo was recent, then it’s clear that the hysteria surrounding his weight was simply all for nothing. Even I myself had some hot takes about Zion’s weight, and I more than willing to admit I was wrong given the image below. Hopefully, this could be a sign that he returns soon.

With this post making the rounds on social media, many fans offered support to Zion while also demanding that he get an apology. At this point, his fitness levels appear to be just fine and in terms of his injury, it’s simply the location of the ailment that is keeping him off of the floor.

‘The Immortal Collection’ Presents A First Look At An NFT Of Tupac’s Jewelry

Since his death in 1996, we’ve continually strived to better understand and appreciate the genius of Tupac Shakur. In 2015, the All Eyez On Me: The Writing Of Tupac Shakur exhibit at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles became the first such exhibition dedicated to the late rapper. Come next year, you’ll be able to fully immerse in a multimedia Tupac experience via the Wake Me When I’m Free collaboration between The Estate of Tupac Shakur and The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. It begins in LA and will be touring the globe for years to come. And now next week, you’ll be able to own a piece of Tupac’s jewelry as an NFT, which joins the previously announced drop of photos from his debut album.

Dubbed “The Immortal Collection,” a collection of Tupac’s infamous jewelry will drop via the MakersPlace NFT marketplace on December 15th. The collection is inspired by the jewelry that Tupac wore and even the jewelry that he designed as his career blossomed. It contains pieces like his 2PAC and diamond solitaire rings, as well as his Makaveli bracelet (above) and a medallion he wore in the last photo ever captured of him. A statement regarding the drop said the following:

“Working in close collaboration with his Estate, NFT Artists Impossible Brief and curators Digital Arts & Sciences were able to select pieces from his personal archives that had some of the deepest meanings and intentions attached to them. It is with Tupac’s personal vision and ideas, that they carefully created this digital assortment of the jewelry he designed and wore, marking the world’s first NFT authorized by The Shakur Estate. “

The pieces represent a look at some of the items that will be included in the Wake Me When I’m Free experience. Take a look at the four items below and get more info on “The Immortal Collection” here.

Nicki Minaj Says Jennifer Hough Is Lying For Money In A Response To The Harassment Lawsuit Against Her

Nicki Minaj thinks that Jennifer Hough, the woman suing Nicki and her husband Kenneth Petty for harassment, is angling for a payday, according to legal documents the rap star has filed in response to the suit. TMZ reports that Nicki asks the court to sanction Hough, accusing her of falsely alleging harassment. In particular, Nicki’s lawyers maintain that Hough did not try to hide her number from Nicki as she previously stated and that Hough changed part of her story during a recent television appearance.

As evidence, Nicki’s attorneys claim that Hough texted Nicki after changing her number to tell her “US Marshalls are asking questions!!!” Meanwhile, regarding the interview, court documents filed by Hough say that her brother told her a lawyer representing Petty reached out to her with an offer of $500,000 to recant her 1995 testimony against him for sexual assault, while Nicki is also included in Hough’s harassment suit. Taken together, they believe these inconsistencies prove Hough is shaking down Nicki when her dispute should be with Nicki’s husband.

Hough filed suit against both this past August, accusing them of harassment, witness intimidation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She said that the couple’s representatives have badgered her relentlessly since 2019, hoping to get Petty removed from the sex offenders list, where he must be registered since being convicted of raping Hough in 1995. Petty has since insisted that she was a “willing participant” and Nicki has filed a motion to have the case dismissed. Neither has addressed Nicki’s prior insistence that the victim was white (disproven, obviously), nor that she was dating Petty at the time of the incident (disputed by Hough), neither of which would absolve Petty of sexual assault even if they were true.

Token Enlists Lil Skies For Intense New Single “IOD”

Back in September, Boston rapper Token enlisted Rico Nasty for a new single titled “High Heels,” and showed a side of himself rap fans hadn’t seen before.

Where he previously had hung his hat on rapping as fast as possible at every given opportunity, “High Heels” was a pleasant change of pace, and a seemingly positive preview of his forthcoming record, Pink Is Better

Unfortunately, Pink Is Better was delayed until January, 2002. However, Token came back with a solid consolation—a new single with Lil Skies.

Releasing “IOD” today (December 9), Token continues to showcase his evolution as an artist, and with the help of Skies, addresses the dangers of addiction and his complicated relationship with substances and love. Rapping over fast-paced production with heavy drum patterns, Token and Lil Skies trade verses and navigate around a powerful hook as they detail the ways they replace emotions with consumption, and ponder the potential effects their respective lifestyles may have in the future.

Quotable Lyrics

And I been waking up so different, no ambition to leave home
Liquor hit a little different when you sip it on your own
Got a couple homies worried, I ain’t picking up the phone
Funny thing is when I hide, I’m the one who get exposed

Tierra Whack Brings The Energy On “Body Of Water”

This summer Tierra Whack announced that she was retiring from music, but if that last week is any indication of where the Philadelphia rapper/singer is at musically, it seems like she may have hit the brakes.

Last Thursday, Whack dropped a three-song EP titled Rap?

Today, she followed it up with another three-song EP, titled Pop?

Highlighting Pop? is the project’s first track, “Body Of Water.”

Released alongside some trippy, seemingly 80s-themed visuals, “Body Of Water” is the perfect balance of speed and chaos, and showcases Whack’s impeccable ability to skate over any type of instrumental, while weaving humor and witty references throughout. From Tom Brady to 2006 Honda Civics, “Body Of Water” has it all, including fans thanking Whack for making her triumphant return to music with a pair of flawless EPs.

Quotable Lyrics
You dig it like a ditch
If I paid you some attention you would probably be rich
Sucks to be you ol’ gold digging b*tch
I’m running this shit like Drake with the 6
