Drakeo The Ruler’s Posthumous ‘Ain’t That The Truth’ Video Asserts His Authenticity

Drakeo The Ruler, prolific as he was in life, probably won’t fade from the public consciousness anytime soon. His gritty, DIY work ethic means that we’ll likely see plenty more projects from him, even after his untimely death. The first of those works, the video for “Ain’t That The Truth,” from the album of the same name, has arrived to keep the spark of the West Coast rapper’s fiery creativity alive.

Featuring Drakeo’s brother and Stinc Team cohort Ralfy The Plug, the video sees the two rappers hanging out in their home studio, watching basketball on TV, and imbibing various — ahem — substances while rapping their defiant verses. On the hook, Drakeo declares, “We know the truth, we the truth, and asks, “Ain’t that the truth?” while on the verse, he makes sure to provide all the details needed to back up his boisterous boasts.

Speaking on Drakeo’s death after being stabbed backstage at the Once Upon A Time In LA festival, Ralfy called his brother his “idol,” writing, “You did it by yo self. You was a self made boss and a leader. You was my idol and big brother and I learned a lot from you and I’m definitely gone make sure they still know the truth.”

Antonio Brown Pulls Off Hilarious & Ironic Gesture Before Last Bucs Game

Antonio Brown is now a free agent as he was recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his antics on the sideline of last weekend’s game against the New York Jets. Brown ended up stripping out of all of his gear before throwing it in the stands. This was then followed up by a unique display in which he left the field all while motioning to the crowd.

In the clip below, you can see some of the behind-the-scenes footage of what happened, and overall, it is pretty hilarious. Of course, this wasn’t very funny for the Buccaneers as it forced them into a pretty bad position.

Thanks to some new footage obtained from TMZ, we now know that Brown was in a great mood prior to the match. In fact, he got to mingle with fans, and he even autographed a vaccination card. This is pretty funny and ironic when you consider how AB got caught for faking a vaccination card earlier in the season. This led to a three-game suspension for the Bucs star, although, as it pertains to the fans below, he seemed to find the whole situation quite humorous.

New details surrounding Brown’s conduct continue to emerge, so stay tuned to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest news and updates from around the NFL.

New Music Friday: Hottest New Songs & Albums From Gunna, The Weeknd, & More

HNHH is kicking off the new year with some small changes. Welcome to our brand new “New Music Friday” round-up, where we will be including all of the hottest new music from the past week, including everything that came out on Friday. In this weekly column, we will include some of our staff’s personal favorite songs from the week, as well as a curated list of some of the most exciting hip-hop and R&B offerings from the last seven days.

In the round-up, you’ll notice releases from some of your favorite mainstream rappers, as well as a few releases from artists to keep an eye on during 2022, and underground rap giants.

This week, we’re starting off the column with two of the biggest albums to have dropped this week: Gunna’s DS4EVER and The Weeknd’s Dawn FM

Despite only announcing their albums a few days before their respective releases, Gunna and The Weeknd managed to set the tone for this year of new music, pushing everybody to perform at their highest capacity. Gunna came through with nineteen songs that are suitable for the car, club, and streets. Whereas The Weeknd enters a new chapter of his career with a conceptual body of work that already sounds great, and will likely get even better with time.

Check out some of the hottest new hip-hop and R&B releases from this week below and let us know your favorite song and album of the week in the comments.

Gunna – DS4EVER

Atlanta rapper Gunna starts off the new year with the release of his new studio album DS4EVER, completing the Drip Season series. The new album includes features from Young Thug, Future, Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Chlöe, Kodak Black, and more. Surprisingly — and despite being previously announced as a feature on the song “P***y Power” — Drake did not appear on the album’s release

The album includes the previously released single “Too Easy.” Some of our staff’s early favorites include “Mop (feat. Young Thug),” “Thought I Was Playing (feat. 21 Savage),” “South To West,” and more.

The Weeknd – Dawn FM

The Dawn has arrived. After months of teases, Canadian singer The Weeknd has released his new studio album Dawn FM, including features from Lil Wayne, Tyler, The Creator, and more, as well as appearances from Quincy Jones and Jim Carrey. The conceptual body of work contains sixteen tracks. Our staff’s early favorites include “I Heard You’re Married (feat. Lil Wayne),” “Gasoline,” and “Here We Go… Again (feat. Tyler, The Creator).”

After the Grammy Awards snubbed his previous album, After Hours, in a shocking move, it will be interesting to see if the Recording Academy can ignore a second-straight masterpiece from The Weeknd, one of the greatest artists of our time.

2 Chainz – “Million Dollars Worth of Game” (feat. 42 Dugg)

With the release of “Million Dollars Worth of Game” featuring Detroit rapper 42 Dugg, College Park-based rapper 2 Chainz kicks off the rollout to his upcoming studio album, titled Dope Don’t Sell Itself. The hot new single was produced by Lil Ju Made Da Beat, and it sets the tone for the project, which will be released later this month. This was an instant favorite for many of our staff members.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again – “Fish Scale”

One of the most consistent rappers in the world, Baton Rouge-born artist YoungBoy Never Broke Again started off the year with the release of his new song “Fish Scale,” which dropped earlier this week. Arriving alongside a new music video, the 22-year-old announced a new mixtape arriving within the next two weeks, so it definitely looks like this will be another busy year for the superstar rapper.

Earl Sweatshirt – “Titanic”

“Titanic” is unlike most songs you’ve heard from Earl Sweatshirt. Carving out a clear lane for himself over the years, the 27-year-old rapper deviates slightly from his formula to explore a new sound, which his fans are seriously digging. A favorite from our staff, this was the perfect way to hype up his new studio album SICK!, which drops next week.

Gucci Mane – “Fake Friends”

Atlanta rap legend Gucci Mane has remained consistent for as long as we can remember, as a rapper and a serial entrepreneur. Gucci puts his business first, making sure that he signs the best artists and continues to level up as a music entrepreneur. But on “Fake Friends,” we hear him return to some of his greatest flows from over the years. The music video also includes an appearance from Wop’s toddler son, Ice.

Azizi Gibson – “Hate To Say It” (feat. Freddie Gibbs)

Azizi Gibson has shown his versatility over the years and on “Hate To Say It,” he continues his upward trajectory with a feature from the trending Freddie Gibbs. From the sounds of this one, it could be a big year for both Gibson and Gibbs in 2022.

Montana of 300 – Rap God

Chicago drill rapper Montana of 300 returns with his new studio album, titled Rap God, after testing positive for COVID-19 and spending some time in the hospital late last year. The twenty-five-song album is nearly two-hours-long, and it includes features from Talley of 300, Arsonal, No fatigue, and more.

Dom Vallie – “Been Himma”

Dom Vallie, Toronto’s hottest upcoming rapper, is chilling in his chinchilla on his latest record, titled “Been Himma.” The song has been going viral for a few weeks on TikTok and it officially hit streaming services on Friday. This could end up being Dom’s biggest song to date, so he is definitely somebody to watch out for in the new year.

Kid Ink Shares The Last Single From His Upcoming Deluxe Album, “Fenty Secrets”

Kid Ink is kicking off the new year in a big way. After sharing “Go Mode” featuring ISM on New Years Eve, the 35-year-old has dropped off “Fenty Secrets,” a three-minute and 19-second long joint that’s ideal for a late-night drive with your sneaky link.

Just a week before his prior arrival, Ink also shared “Hoe Games.” All three new songs will appear on this coming Friday, January 14th’s deluxe version of his April 2021 project, ALIVE, including features from Rory Fresco and Bricc Baby.

The 13-track release marked Kid Ink’s first full-length studio album since 2018’s Missed Calls. Fans of the Los Angeles native have been happy to see him make such a triumphant return, and from the looks of things, he’s showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

“Thank you to everyone who tapped in with me this year,” he wrote on Instagram at the beginning of December, sharing his Spotify Wrapped with fans while reflecting on the events of the past few months. “I appreciate each and every one of you! 2022 is gonna be a special year I promise you,” the rapper continued.

It’s ’bout that time that we should slide

Just let me drive, I know you work

Gunna Faces Backlash For “DS4EVER” Lyrics After Baby Tate Calls Him Out

Atlanta rapper Gunna is facing some backlash from rapper Baby Tate, her fans, and the LGBTQ+ community on Friday morning (January 7). Following the release of his new studio album DS4EVER, fans rushed to listen to the project and when they got to his “Thought I Was Playing” collaboration with 21 Savage, many misheard his lyrics and believed that he was dissing trans people.

“These boys a bunch of p***ies, they no different than a trend,” raps Gunna on the song, according to the lyrics page on Genius. However, Baby Tate and hundreds of others thought that Gunna said, “These boys a bunch of p***ies, they no different than a trans,” which would have been ridiculously unsound to say in the chorus to one of the album’s most anticipated songs.

“U couldn’t have found anything else to say?” asked Baby Tate in a tweet. “This man been using derogatory LGBT words in his music for so long and I am tired.”

Fans of the rising rapper backed her up, but it was revealed that she may have been hearing the lyrics incorrectly shortly after.

“Y’all will not bully me out of speaking up for the trans community,” said Baby Tate when people started calling her out for her mistake. “Y’all did this same shit when I called out uzi. If the tweet is causing more transphobia then I’ll delete it but I still believe I heard what I heard and he was wrong if that’s what he said. I will always stand up for the LGBT community. Idc.”

The Three Men Convicted Of Killing Ahmaud Arbery Will Face Sentencing Today

The three men that murdered Ahmaud Arbery are now facing sentencing. Travis and Gregory McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan are set to receive sentencing this morning in Brunswick, GA. All three are facing life in prison.

Though all three men were convicted of murder and several other charges in November, only Travis McMichael was convicted of malice murder. Travis pulled the trigger, killing Ahmaud, and is likely to receive the stiffest sentence. However, Gregory McMichael and Bryan are facing life in prison, but the question of parole is still on the table. The judge may grant them the possibility of parole but they must serve 30 years in prison under Georgia law.

Back in November, a verdict was delivered after more than 11 hours of deliberation that spanned just two days. The trial included eight days of testimonies, involving 23 witnesses. At the time of his unjust death, Arbery was out for a jog in the Satilla Shores neighborhood outside of Brunswick, Georgia on February 23, 2020. The three men believed Arbery had committed a crime and chased him through the streets. Arbery was unarmed and on foot as the group confronted him. A tussle erupted between Travis McMichael and Arbery before he was fatally shot at close range with a rifle. The men pleaded not guilty, claiming that they were conducting a citizen’s arrest and acting in self-defense.

Now that group of men is set to potentially face life in prison, hopefully, Arbery’s family can find some peace in the outcome.

Julius Randle Politely Tells Knicks Fans To “Shut The F*ck Up”

Julius Randle had an incredible season with the New York Knicks in 2021, however, things have since gotten worse for the power forward as he is no longer putting up the numbers that got him his big contract. Fans are starting to turn on him, and it has led to some pretty upsetting moments in Madison Square Garden.

For instance, the Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics last night on a buzzer-beater, however, for much of the game, Randle experienced some struggles that had fans giving him some grief. At one point, Randle got fed up of it all and gave a thumbs down to the crowd before continuing on down the court.

According to TMZ, Randle was asked about this gesture after the game, and as it turns out, the Knicks star was trying to tell the crowd to “shut the fuck up.” Randle was not pleased with the fans, and he let that displeasure known in the most polite way possible.

Beefing with Knicks fans typically never ends well, although it is clear that Randle is advocating for himself here. Hopefully, he’s able to get motivated and finish strong as the Knicks look to end up with a playoff spot.

DJ Kay Slay’s Brother Disputes COVID-19 Rumors; Kay Slay In Recovery

DJ Kay Slay has been battling COVID-19 for a little under a month and doesn’t seem to be improving. On Jan. 5th, Wack 100 alluded that the DJ was losing the battle via an Instagram caption. Kay Slay’s biological brother Kwame Grayson spoke out to kill the rumors and claims that the New York City legend is on the way to a full recovery.

In an exclusive conversation with HipHopDX, Grayson said, “He was slowly fading away, but God didn’t let that happen. Everything in time and when they found who he was, they got him powered up again. So he’s up and going. He’s like in a recovery state, but he’s definitely not going to die. You can trust me on that.”

Grayson admits that the family was freaking out and there were a few touch-and-go moments, but it sounds like he’s on the road to recovery. “All of us were freaking out. We’re his little brother biologically. We look just like him. He does this thing, we do our thing. But he knows how we feel about him,” he said. There were rumors that the DJ was put on a ventilator to assist with breathing but Grayson has also disputed this rumor. “I don’t know how they thought that, but it was not a ventilator he was on. It was a machine that was helping him breathe, but it was not a ventilator,” he added.

Who knows how true Grayson’s claims are but hopefully, Kay Slay is actively in a recovery state.

21 Savage’s “DS4EVER” Feature Has Twitter Praising His Consistency

If there’s anyone who can nail a feature, it’s 21 Savage. The 29-year-old recording artist’s most recent appearance arrived at midnight, on Gunna’s DS4EVER, which sees the two link up on the project’s fifth track, “thought i was playing.”

The album as a whole has a handful of noteworthy features from names like Young Thug, Kodak Black, Chloe Bailey, Lil Baby, Future, G Herbo, Nechie, Chris Brown, Yung Bleu, and Roddy Ricch, but it seems that 21’s verse has already emerged as a fan favourite – particularly his quip aimed at Kimye.

“Never tucked my tail, I went to war with real killers (Pussy)/I’m your wifey surgeon, dawg, I give her lip fillers (Pussy)/SF90 cost a M, dumped his Glock like Ye did Kim (21)/Sippin’ on pimp juice, watch my brim (21),” the UK-born rapper spits during his mic time.

Reviews of DS4EVER have been pouring in across the internet, with much of the discussion turning towards Savage’s appearance. “21 Savage genuinely can’t drop a bad feature, it’s getting ridiculous,” one person wrote. Others added, “we need a new Savage album man,” and “yet another feature of the year level verse on #DS4EVER.”

At the end of 2021, the “Slidin” rapper revealed which of last year’s features that he put out was his favourite – “Child’s Play” with Yung Nudy. Read more about that here, and check back in with HNHH for more updates on 21 Savage later.
