Ne-Yo Speaks On R&B & Toxic Relationships: “You My Bitch Has Replaced I Love You”

Ne-Yo has some thoughts about the R&B Renaissance. In an interview with Page Six, the 42-year-old vocalist shared his opinion that romance has seemingly disappeared from the genre.

“R&B music definitely has gone through an era that is much harsher than we all remember,” the Arkansas-born father of three told the outlet. “‘I love you’ became ‘you my bitch.'”

He continued, “Now it’s like, okay, we got to move with the times but at the same time, love is not a trend or a fade. It’s not something that is supposed to go out of style. It’s like saying water is going out of style. No, you need it to live.”

The “So Sick” singer added that he believes the reason that relationships today seem to end far faster than ever before has something to do with “the way that love has been approached as of late.”

“People don’t look at it the right way,” the Stomp the Yard actor explained. “It’s like everyone looking for love got some conditions on it. If he ain’t got this much money; if she ain’t got that much booty. Or whatever. And that is always going to be an issue for genuine love; genuine true love.”

According to Ne-Yo, if people would just “turn their eyes and ears off for a second” and “turn their hearts on” instead, then the sort of genuine connection that he speaks of could be possible.

“To genuinely love somebody outside of what you can see, touch, taste and smell… It runs deeper than that. I feel like once we get back to that then it will come back in the music and then everything will be all right,” he told Page Six.

In other news, the “Miss Independent” hitmaker will be hosting the 2022 Urban One Honours on Monday, January 17th, which will see Jennifer Hudson, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis take home the Icon Recipients Awards.

The Weeknd Edges Out Gunna By 2K For No. 1 Album Debut

After midnight ET on Jan 7 when The Weeknd released his Dawn FM album and Gunna dropped DS4EVER, fans immediately casted predictions for whose album would garner more sales. Early on, all signs pointed to The Weeknd, considering he has been a longer running commercially successful artist.

Halfway through the week, The Weeknd was projected to sell around 157,000 copies, as Gunna’s projection fell short at around 140,000. This 15,000-20,000 separation estimate seemed accurate, until the official numbers were revealed yesterday (Jan. 14).

According to Chart Data, The Weeknd ended up only beating Gunna by 2,000 sales, as he landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 154,000 sales and Gunna placed No. 2 with 152,000, almost 10,000 more than what predictions said.

This feat by The Weeknd is impressive, considering a main driving force behind Dawn FM was his indifference towards sales, as he hoped to get the album experience out to fans as soon as possible. This led to there being no physical copies of Dawn FM in its first week, because the release was ahead of schedule. So, all of the album’s sales are based solely on streams.

Both Gunna and The Weeknd have added to their respective albums in recent days, as Gunna added “P Power” with Drake that was initially meant for the original release and The Weeknd dropped the Alternate World edition of Dawn FM with two remixes and one original song. So, perhaps, there could be shift in the sales rankings for these albums’ second week.

Kanye West Says He Was Blocked From Seeing His Kids At Kim Kardashian’s Home Because Pete Davidson Was Home

After Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce last February, their split was described “as amicable as a divorce can be.” Apart from Kanye’s attempts to get back in Kim’s graces, which Kim said were not good enough to change her mind, the former couple hasn’t had any major issues. They’ve both moved on to other people, Kim dating Pete Davidson, while Kanye has been out and about with actress Julia Fox. However, according to Kanye himself, there have been issues between him and Kim’s new partner.

Jason Lee provided Entertainment Tonight with excerpts from Kanye’s full interview with Hollywood Unlocked. In it, Kanye claimed there was a moment where he was blocked from seeing his four children at Kim’s home. He claims security blocked him from entering because Pete Davidson was there at the time.

But he tried to be diplomatic. “But, I didn’t want to argue about it,” he said. “So I just chilled, took my kids to school, and then took my kids back. I am driving. I bring them back and North was like, ‘I want you to come upstairs and see something.’ And it’s like, ‘Oh, Daddy can’t come see something. Daddy can’t come inside.’ But that hadn’t been defined.”

Kanye added that he and Kim did not discuss any restrictions, yet he was still blocked by security. “My daughter wanted me to go inside,” he said. “I was like, I am the richest Black man and North’s father, right, and the security was able to stop me from going into the room with my daughter and that had not been defined.” He then suggests that Pete Davidson being home at the time was the reason he was blocked from entering the home.

“And, I am hearing that the new boyfriend is actually in the house that I can’t even go to,” Kanye added. “And, that’s where I call my cousins. And, my cousin is real opinionated, you know that. And I said, ‘I need you to go and say these two things.’ Security ain’t going to be in between me and my children, and my children ain’t going to be on TikTok without my permission.”

The interview arrives after he and The Game released “Eazy,” a track Kanye used to send shots at Pete Davidson and address his divorce with Kim Kardashian.

T-Shyne Is Glad He Can “Feed The Fam” On New Single

2021 was a huge year for Young Stoner Life’s T-Shyne. YSL boss Young Thug incorporated him into his most important endeavors of the year, including YSL’s compilation album Slime Language 2 from April for songs “That Go!” with Thug and Meek Mill and “Warrior” with Big Sean and Lil Keed. Also, T-Shyne made it onto Thug’s Punk album from October for the second track “Stressed” with J. Cole.

Now, T-Shyne is looking to use this boost to establish a strong momentum for the new year. To kick off 2022, the YSL signee dropped brand new single “Feed The Fam” on Jan. 13. The song is an uplifting track with attractive strings on the instrumental that create a groovy atmosphere.

T-Shyne exhibits an overwhelming sense of gratitude for his family and friends around him on the song, and picks up the pace flow-wise at around the one-minute mark when the drums and claps kick in on the beat.

Check out T-Shyne’s new song “Feed The Fam” below.

Quotable Lyrics
I remember growing up sittin’ on the bus
It was hard to fit in like OJ’s hand in the glove
Now I’m standin’ out and I got fans
I can’t see myself goin’ against the fam

Pete Davidson Has Reportedly Never Been To Kim Kardashian’s House Or Met Her Kids, Despite Ye’s Claims

Kanye West is being put on blast. New reports from TMZ allege that the 44-year-old Atlanta-born rapper wasn’t exactly honest with Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked when they sat down to discuss what happened a few nights back when Ye got caught up in a physical altercation with a fan who was eager for an autograph.

When defending his actions, the father of four explained that “it [was] 3 AM in front of the warehouse! I’m saying, you don’t know what I’m dealing with, right?” later revealing that some apparent drama with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian had him riled up.

According to the interview, Ye has been having a hard time seeing his kids lately and the reality star even had security step in to prevent him from seeing his eldest daughter, North West at school.

“Security ain’t gon’ be between me and my children,” the Yeezy creator told Lee. “And my children aren’t gonna be on TikTok without my permission,” he added, seemingly addressing North’s popular joint account with her mom, which sees them lip-sync, dance, and do other activities together.

Elsewhere in their talk, West addressed his exes’ new relationship with 28-year-old Staten Island native Pete Davidson. “I’m hearing that the new boyfriend is actually in the house, that I can’t even go to,” the “Flashing Lights” hitmaker said, expressing his frustrations about feeling as though he’s being left out of his children’s life.

While TMZ can confirm that Kardashian has been enforcing much stricter boundaries with her co-parent, the article notes that the Saturday Night Live comedian hasn’t been to her house, or even met her kids, for that matter.

Sources say that Ye has “made some people close to [the KUWTK star] – including friends, [family] and even staff – upset with some of his recent videos,” which is why the KKW Beauty founder has been extra cautious about protecting her peace.

“Bottom line… Kim wants to create a more structured system between him, her and their kids – which, we’re told, would ideally involve Kante calling ahead of time and scheduling things… instead of him dropping in unannounced, presumably what he’s been doing lately,” the outlet explained.

It’s also been reported that Kardashian is “very disappointed” to see how Ye is publicly dealing with all of their family happenings and that she’d “prefer to keep it private, [as she] doesn’t think it’s good for the kids.”

Most recently, the rapper threw some serious shade at Davidson in his new joint track with The Game – read more about that here.

Polo G Hits The Barber Shop With YungLiV For “Heating Up” Video

When Polo G released his Hall of Fame 2.0 deluxe in November, he considered it the end of the first chapter of his career. With hits like “Bad Man (Smooth Criminal)” and features from Lil Tjay, Moneybagg Yo, NLE Choppa and more, Polo gave us an excellent summary of what he brings to the table with either his imposing, aggressive street rap or crooned, melodic bops.

As he closed out his break-out era as one of hip-hop’s most celebrated young talents, he decided to uplift a favorite rising artist of his in YungLiV from Philadelphia. On the deluxe’s fourth song “Heating Up,” Polo allows the newcomer YungLiV to open the track with his infectious, rough-around-the-edges energy.

Afterward, Polo puts the finishing touches on a song that is sure to get your blood flowing with an intimidating verse, as the brief song lasts just over two minutes long.

For the music video, released on Jan. 14, “Heating Up” shows Polo G bring his “You would think the block a barbershop the way we linin’ shit” bar from his verse to life, as he, YungLiV and their crew congregate at the barbershop.

The visuals are now the 14th most trending video for the Music category on YouTube. Check out Polo G and YungLiV’s “Heating Up” music video above.

Tyla Yaweh Recruits PnB Rock & Trippie Redd To “Do No Wrong”

Tyla Yaweh has always been a highly collaborative artist. Whether it be his hit 2020 single “Tommy Lee” with his mentor Post Malone or “Stuntin’ on You” with DaBaby from the same year, Tyla is great at aligning his vibe with other prominent artists of this era.

After a relatively calm 2021 that only gave us a handful of Yaweh singles, he decided to open the new year with a bang, releasing “Do No Wrong” with moody vocalists PnB Rock and Trippie Redd on Friday (Jan. 14).

PnB Rock handles the sung hook on the song, as Tyla and Trippie’s verses plug in the gaps between each rendition. PnB’s performance dictates the song’s atmosphere as he wards off his enemies and flexes his bag with catchy crooning.

Tyla Yaweh takes on the song’s first verse, explaining his type and that he likes his “b*tches meaner,” as well as asserting that he always stays with a gun because he has “seen some demons I can’t trust.”

Trippie Redd’s verse on the back-end of the track is a colorful, intimidating exhibition including many pop culture allusions like Rey Mysterio, Kirby and 7-11 slurpees.

Overall, “Do No Wrong” is a message to anybody who dares to mess with Tyla, PnB or Trippie. Check out the new track below.
