Mod Sun thanked his fans for saving his life on stage at a recent concert, citing their support amid his split from Avril Lavigne. At one recent show, the crowd chanted “Fuck Tyga.” Lavigne has gone out on multiple dates with Tyga in the time since her breakup with Mod Sun.
“Ya’ll fucking saved my goddamn life for the last six weeks,” Mod Sun said onstage in a video published by TMZ. “If any of y’all are going through some shit right now, whether it be heartbreak, depression, addiction, anxiety, maybe you just have a negative voice in your head right now, I want you to know the one thing I have learned in the last almost four years: Do not be afraid to ask for help. So, thank you for helping me. It’s time for a new chapter.”

News of Mod Sun and Lavigne’s breakup broke in February 2023. They had been engaged for nearly one year. Mod Sun spoke candidly about the split in a post on social media at the time, admitting it came as a surprise to him. “In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all,” he wrote. “I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken [broken heart emoji]. Being surrounded by love every night on tour has been an absolute blessing. I have the best friends in the entire world, thanks for always having my back. See you on stage.”
The breakoff occurred right as Mod Sun took off for a tour to promote his most recent album, God Save the Teen. On the project, there’s a track titled “Avril’s Song” as well as a collaboration between the two on “Shelter.” “She blew me a kiss, And I didn’t wanna blow my brains out anymore,” he sings during the song. “And she is everything I’m not. Without her, I am lost.”
